I felt they were milking the clock in order to get more money. Now I'm not to worried about the price, but the principal of him milking the clock showed how unprofessional the job was done. I explained to him that someone in the house had allergies and asked him to remove his shoes. He got a bad attitude when I asked him to do this. The bookcase was assembled poorly and looks as though it could fall over. I would have appreciated if he would have bolted it to the wall. Included in that price is a fuel charge and a van stock charge for a total of $30.
Description of Work: I hired them to hang two large and two small pictures. He also put a bookcase together.

I would ask that members understand that I am first to admit that we had some issues with the way our company handled our scheduling, work, and customer issues in 2006 when we worked for this member. This report is just now being posted, five years after the fact. It seems very unfair to me to post this today. Our company is totally different today. The people involved from the person answering the phone to the technicians and technical manager are no longer with us. We have improved our communications processes, and hired much more skilled technicians. The owners are much more involved in the management and daily operations of the company. Our goal is customer satisfaction through professionalism in all aspects of our business.

Arrived and fixed the door the same day I called to set appointment. Gave great advice as to possible door replacement price ranges and even sent me out to the hardware store to buy the replacement deadbolt lock, so I wouldn't have to pay a marked up price. The only suggestion I have is that I never heard a follow up after that day to give me prices/options on replacing the door. That would have been a nice addition to the already great work.
Description of Work: Secured door frame and replaced deadbolt lock after attempted break in.

They milked the clock and charged me 477 dollars. The work for hanging the pictures was not great. Several holes where made in my walls when they were the hanging the pictures. He did not even mud the holes, he just used the pictures to hide the holes. I felt the gentlemen was taking advantage of me.
Description of Work: I hired them to hang a picture and large mirror.

WE WORKED FOR THIS MEMBER IN 2007. WE WORKED AT HER HOME TWICE IN DECEMBER OF 2007. THE CUSTOMER NEVER CONTACTED OUR OFFICE TO EXPRESS ANY CONCERN WITH THE WORK. I AM SURE IT IS NOW TOO LONG SINCE THE WORK TO MAKE ANY REPAIRS, BUT I AM MORE THAN WILLING TO WORK WITH THE MEMBER TO ADDRESS ANY ISSUE. IT IS ALL BUT IMPOSSIBLE TO ADDRESS ISSUES IF YOU DON'T KNOW THEY ARE THERE.

The work scope changed after water damage was uncovered. I received a verbal estimate of $600 more for repair of water damage added to the original 2,700 estimate and credit back for canceled work on my sidewalk and another sheet rock repair. 4 days were quoted originally 33 hours were delivered.
Description of Work: Replace three exterior doors. Repair water damage to 1 door opening. Repair water damage to garage framing. Repair sheet rock 2'x 3' and 10"x10".

I met with Mr. Hutchinson at my home April 9 for an estimate on various handyman projects, the largest of which was soffit and fascia work, plus gutters. The gentleman seemed genuine and spent a considerable amount of time 'selling' his company and the dependability thereof. I pointed out that many of his competitors contacted had either not shown up or had shown up but then did not come through with a quote, and he again assured me that he would never do that and I would have my quote by the end of the week. Never heard from him again.

The employee that was sent to do the job was fully competent and the work he did was acceptable. However, the scheduling of the work, the lack of manpower to perform the work, the constant pulling him from job to job, and the lack of response by management does not bode well for the organization. In short, I would use the employee for another job; however, not sure about the company.
Description of Work: We contracted with Mr. Handyman of South Charlotte to replace some rotted wood, seal splits in the concrete work, and paint some areas. We selected them due to the professional presentation and the price quoted. On the day the work was to begin, we received a call from the office that the person selected to do our job was tied up and would be unavailable until the next day. OK. On the next day, the rep came by for about an hour and left to get supplies. He never returned, but we received another call stating that he had been diverted to another job. The next day that he came, he was unable to do much due to the lack of assistance provided by the company in placing the ladder. I offered to assist just to get the job going, but was told that was against company policy. On the next Saturday, the employee obtained the assistance of his brother and completed most of the work. I had to call them back again, but the overall work performed by the employee was acceptable.

Job 1: During a recent rain storm, my wife noticed water coming into the house from a window frame. Having done work with Mr. Handyman in the past, I called them. They were there quickly and isolated the problem fast. I was given a range of option for fixing it along with their upfront prices. I HIGHLY recommend Mr. Handyman to everyone I talk to. Job 2: The service was prompt and done to perfection. Thanks!
Description of Work: Job 1: Fixed a leak in my siding that was causing internal water leakage.($200). Job 2: The guys at Mr. Handyman installed a VERY expensive mailbox for us.($100).

I HAD ALL OF THE MATERIALS. IT TOOK 3 WEEKS, BUT SHOULD HAVE TAKEN 2 DAYS. THE WINDOW WASHERS AND THE PRESSURE WASHERS WERE SUB CONTRACTED. THEY DID A FINE JOB; THE OTHER WORK WAS DONE BY THE COMPANY ITSELF AND WELL, BUT TOOK ENTIRELY TOO LONG.
Description of Work: PRESSURE WASHED THE DECK, STAINED THE DECK, PAINTED FRONT PORCH POST AND AN ATTIC VENT, WASHED WINDOWS.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY IS SIMPLY THAT THEY OVER PROMISE AND NEVER DELIVER! DALE HUTCHINSON CAME OUT TO TALK TO ME ABOUT REPLACING A DECK, POSSIBLY BUILDING A SCREENED PORCH. HE CAME ON TIME, BUT THAT IS WHERE HIS FOLLOW THROUGH ENDED! HE DID GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE A WEEK AFTER HE SAID THAT HE WOULD. NEVER GAVE ME PICTURES EVEN THOUGH HE SAID THAT HE WOULD, AND HE NEVER FOLLOWED UP! GUESS THEY JUST HAVE SO MUCH BUSINESS THAT THEY CAN PICK AND CHOOSE WHO TO CALL BACK AND WHO NOT TO CALL BACK! NOT VERY PROFESSIONAL THOUGH!

THIS MEMBER FAILED TO MENTION THAT SHE ASKED FOR AN ESTIMATE WHICH WAS DELIVERED. SHE THEN ASKED FOR ANOTHER ESTIMATE, WHICH WAS DELIVERED. SHE THEN ASKED FOR A THIRD ESTIMATE. IT WAS VERY APPARENT THAT SHE HAD NO REAL INTENTION OF DOING THE WORK AND WAS JUST RUNNING US AROUND FOR THE FUN OF IT. WE DISENGAGED SINCE THIS EFFORT WOULD NEVER PRODUCE ANY REVENUE. WHEN WE ARE ASKED TO DO ESTIMATES, THERE ARE SIGNIFICANT COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH TIME, VEHICLES USAGE, FUEL, ETC. WHEN ON GIVES A COMPANY THIS KIND OF RUN AROUND, ONE SHOULD EXPECT TO BE DROPPED BY THE COMPANY AT SOME POINT.

JOB 1: I WAS OUT OF THE COUNTRY WHEN MY WIFE NOTICED THAT AFTER A VIOLENT THUNDERSTORM, WE WERE MISSING SEVERAL SECTIONS OF SHINGLES. NOT KNOWING WHAT TO DO, I HAD HER CALL DALE AND HIS CSR WAS THERE TO HELP. HIS GUY ARRIVED VERY QUICKLY, DID THE JOB NEATLY AND PROFESSIONALLY. WHEN HE WAS DONE, HE ASKED IF THERE WAS ANYTHING ELSE HE COULD DO AND LEFT. WHEN WE GOT THE BILL WE WERE FLOORED. WE WERE EXPECTING TO PAY SEVERAL HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR THIS "EMERGENCY JOB" AND IT WAS ONLY $150.00. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MR. HANDYMAN TO ANYONE! JOB 2: THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THEY WERE AT OUR HOME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PART OF THE ROOF THAT CAME OFF THE FIRST TIME, HELD STRONG, THIS TIME THERE WERE MORE SHINGLES AND SOME FLASHING. THE WHOLE PROCESS FROM CALL TO COMPLETION WAS FAST & VERY PROFESSIONAL! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE USE OF THEIR SERVICE.
