A DEPENDABLE HOME REPAIR & CONSTRUCTION SERVICE, I

I filled out the estimate form on his site after finding his company on Angie's List. A couple of days later he called to make sure I was serious about having repairs done and scheduled a time to come out to our house. He called again to double-check on the appointment and I could tell that he'd been burned by people either not paying him or not being home for estimates. He seemed a little jumpy on that front, but was here, as promised, a bit early even (which he'd called to let me know he'd be early). He was a very personable guy and took my notes, and added his own. He looked at everything and promised to give me an estimate in a "day or two". I think he was out on a Thursday so I assumed I'd get an estimate in my email by Monday at the latest. I tried contacting him via his website to see if the estimate was ready and it's been weeks (and I've found another company that will be starting work today). We are planning on having a fair amount of work done and A-Dependable just lost out on that work, plus any future work, and I would definitely not recommend him to a friend. The real kicker was that I told him that we'd had our home broken into and that I was weird about having just anyone inside. He seemed... dependable. But now that I think back on it, he made a point to mention he was going to another house in Piper Glen after he left ours and he talked about doing jobs on $7,000,000 homes. I can see how those bigger jobs are more lucrative for him, but why even bother coming out and promising me an estimate? In the end, this company is anything other than "dependable", unless perhaps you live in a multi-million dollar mansion. I'm just thankful he flaked before he started working or took any of our money.
