The work was never finished. I opted to have a new set of stairs put in and the Oakwood is just sitting there. We had a 100 foot Oak tree cut down and he took a big piece out of it physically to do a mantle to go over the fireplace downstairs. He won’t give it back to me. He can’t forget the work and he won’t return the wood. This is not right. Not to mention, they left debris outside and you could smell the alcohol from the bottles. His people had been drinking it. He stretched the job out and said that we needed to have a new porch put on because once they tore out the step of the basement; they found that we needed a new French drain. We had a French drain put in and he was the one that filled it back in. He said that he knew how to fill it back in and as a result of his nice handiwork of filling it back in, it tore out an entire electrical box that was attached to the house; it tore it completely at an 80 degree angle. Then we had the main water line coming in to the house to rupture. He never finished the porch. I am disabled and so I was having a ramp put on to the porch. He left me with nothing. I was in the hospital and he called there to see if he could come up there and get a cheque for 3 days of work. I know that you are not supposed to pay them until the job is finished. I did pay him some a little along the way, which I should have never done. I had a contract with him and he did not fulfill that contract at all. He was unsatisfactory. We had to hire other people to finish the porch and basement. His crew did the plumbing in the basement. We had to hire someone to do redo the plumbing that he didn’t. It was awful. He wanted me to pay him half of it upfront. I did come up with $9,000 of it, so I did pay him half of it, which I should have never. I did not know the dos and don’ts of it. I wanted to get this done before my husband came home from the hospital, but he just left us. It was horrible. I have called and called and called him to return my calls, but he has not yet returned it. I am assuming he is not coming back. He was never on time and was wandering everywhere. I never knew what time he was going to show up. Part of that was my fault, because in January when the temperature was, I told him not to come in and work if it is below 0 degrees when he leaves his house. I told him to stay home until it is at least 20 above. The problem was that he would continue to stay home. We have a double door garage and have one half of the garage of that door is completely still covered with plywood. He put up a hole in the plywood so he can put the machine in, so that it sucks the air out and gets rid of all the spores and mildew. All that wood is still up. When he asked for the payment for 3 days, he came to the hospital and did it twice. I told Mr. Stoltz that I did not have a cheque book and that I cannot do this. When my husband got home, he saw what kind of work he did. He only did less than a 12-foot section of picketing on the porch and that took him 3 days. He could have done it in 12 hours. He seemed so knowledgeable, so helpful, and he wanted to bend over backwards for whatever I asked him to do, but he never completed anything I asked him to do.
Description of Work: Mr. Don Stoltz from Precision Trim was hired as a subcontractor to clear everything out of our basement, put the walls back in, and do the construction work. He came here in January of 2009.
