My company has been in the flooring business for over 28 years, and our ultimate goal is customer satisfaction. All workers are trustworthy and very well qualified for the jobs obtained.
Contact is maintained with customer for the duration of the job. Once a need is identified and inspected, a proposed estimate of cost is submitted to customer. If it is agreed upon a contract will be issued. Dependent upon the job, a small down payment may be required with the balance due to be paid once the job is completed. A receipt will then be issued. A receipt will be issued at any time for any amount paid while the work is in progress. (NOTE: A few years ago the company was contracted for work at the Governor's Mansion under former Governor Mike Easley. They were very pleased with our work.)

George didn't do what I asked him to do. He did what HE wanted to do. There were SO many problems with his work. He didn't repair the flooring properly before the finish was applied; left rough holes in the floor with large splinters; didn't replace some wood with drilled holes in it; used left-over wood pieces on the strips he did replace and charged me for a new, whole bundle; added stain to the finish applying it unevenly resulting in extremely uneven coloring; some of the layers of finish bubbled up and he unsuccessfully tried to sand them out after they dried; sanded in circles rather than with the grain (and probably used the wrong sand paper) leaving sand-gouging streaks in the finish; didn't extend the finish from the room into the hall and I had to add additional carpet to cover the unfinished area from the hall into the room; had dried lumps of finish rolled into the wet finish, lumping the finish; rolled dried grass into the wet finish in front of a door (and blamed the wind of blowing it in even though the grass was clearly rolled into the floor); and way over-charged me - over $1800.00 for $250 sq ft. I feel like he took advantage of me and performed horrendous workmanship because he didn't think I was intelligent enough to know what he was doing. I do not recommend him - and feel especially if you are a woman looking for a contractor. As of this date, I have pictures to prove my complaints and have not repaired the flooring itself.
Description of Work: I contracted to have my carpet removed and refinish the existing hardwood floor.

When the initial call was made to George Outlaw Hardwood Floors, the owner inquired about the visible damage. He was very concerned about the living arrangements because of the elderly couple living in the house. He arrived at the location the day after the storm passed through to physically assess the damage and provided us with an estimate of the time required to complete the repair work and the cost. The work crew arrived a couple of days later, promptly at the time the owner stated. They were very courteous and professional from the time they started the job until it was completed. They were more than happy to address any concerns we had, and they completed the job in a timely manner. The elderly couple was displaced for about 3 days because the husband suffers with upper respiratory problems. Unfortunately, the wife passed away on March 30, 2012. But she was so happy to see how beautiful her hardwood floors really were. They had lived in this home since the early 70's and the floors were desperately in need of refinishing. She was also amazed at how lovely her whole house was once the ceiling and walls were painted. Note: I am the daughter of the elderly couple and I'm so glad my mom was able to enjoy the true beauty of her home, thanks to the professional workmanship of the workcrew of George Outlaw Hardwood Floors.
Description of Work: Repair work was performed by George Outlaw Hardwood Floors at our home in Windsor, North Carolina after hurricane Irene passed through the area on August 27-28, 2011. Although we were located outside the company service area, Mr. Outlaw, Company Owner, was contacted and did not hesitate to come and assess the damage. Within a couple of days the workcrew was on the job. During the storm, tiles were blown from the roof. This allowed water to pour into the house, destroying part of the ceiling and floor. The workers retiled the entire roof, repaired the ceiling and painted the affected areas as well as the remainder of the house (at the family's request). They also repaired and refinished the hardwood floor area that was damaged from the storm. Again, at the request of the family the workers refinished the remaining hardwood floors in the house. Prior to starting work inside the house the workers carefully removed furniture and placed in a POD. Upon completion of inside work they brought the furniture back in and placed in designated areas. Piping was also installed outside to channel water away from the driveway. The workers removed all debris from the premises in a professional and timely manner.
