Description of Work: Inspected the fireplace and chimney as I wanted to switch out old gas logs for new ones. Showed me the chimney had no soot build up so did not need cleaning. Therefore they only charged me the inspection fee.

Description of Work: Removed a fireplace insert incorrectly installed, inspected the chimney, cleaned it, and repaired the flue. The flue had damage from a flue fire. The flue damper had to be replaced and the ash door replaced. Scott also painted the inside of the fireplace to cover the creosote left after it was cleaned. It went very well and efficiently.

Description of Work: I used F SCOTT DAVIS CHIMNEY SWEEP INC to install a chimney screen on top of roof and sweep service.

Description of Work: Called in morning and told by a very pleasant female that they were booked until X'mas but if he had free time he would fit me in. That afternoon I received a telephone call that Scott was passing through Raleigh from Durham and would arrive in 45 minutes. After inspecting and photographing the firebox, Scott climbed on the roof to inspect and photograph the chimney. He then took my hose while his assistant crawled into the firebox to determine the source of the water infiltration. After flooding the flashing to no avail, he found a crack in the chimney which allowed water to enter the firebox. He applied a sealant to the crack and did not try to sell me any other service. He told me that if water continues to infiltrate I need to have a roofer repair or replace the flashing. He did not push any particular roofer. He reviewed all his photos with me and carefully explained his Inspection Report. He charged $139.00 which I thought was very reasonable. I would recommend him to anyone with a chimney problem.

Description of Work: Had an old Franklin stove removed. I'd had it inspected when I bought the house five years ago. Mr. Davis suggested that I should never light a fire in it, since it was installed incorrectly. I never got around to buying a wood stove, so I had Mr. Davis back to remove the Franklin stove and dispose of it.
