I called to set up an estimate and Phillip Bradrick came over that day or the next and put together an estimate. I scheduled the work to be done a month later (they could have done it a week earlier). Phillip, Tori (their office manager), and the entire crew that showed up to do the work were professional, experienced and great to work with. They provided one of the best experiences I've ever had with a service company! It was a lot of money, but they did a lot of work. They were significantly less expensive then the service company that I use to install and maintain my A/Cs and Furnaces and they also replaced a lot of my ductwork. Bottom line: Top-notch people and great work! Note: The work was completed just a few days ago, so it may be awhile before I can say that all the crawlspace sealing and drainage work they did is working well). I'll try to update this after we experience our summer downpours/thunderstorms.
Description of Work: Energeyes removed multiple items from the attic, installed insulated radiant barrier over the exposed knee wall to meet Duke Energy Progress rebate and improve efficiency. They installed R-19 blown fiberglass over existing insulation in attic to bring it up to R-38 (approximately 1800 square feet) and an insulated attic stair cover with an R-30 lid that can be easily removed to enter the attic. They also sealed all accessible penetrations and cracks in the attic floor. Crawlspace - They installed drain lines for the foundation drainage system and a separate gutter drainage system and buried the drainage lines. They cleaned the wood structural component with a peroxide-based cleaner and put down a 6 Mil black plastic sheeting and pinned it in place with staples. They installed an interior drain system along the foundation wall in the crawlspace put in/buried a perforated drainage pipe 10-16 inches below the crawlspace floor. Penetrations in the foundation wall were sealed with hydraulic cement. They removed and disposed the batt insulation in the crawlspace and lastly installed R-19 Fiberglass batt insulation and secured it with insulation stays.

From the person who wrote the estimate to folks who installed the insulation, everyone of them were very professional. They were prompt, friendly, capable and informed me every step of the way what they were doing. They completed the job in one day as promised, and cleaned up after themselves very well. You would never have known they were here after they left. The people at the office number promptly returned any call I made. I would definitely use Energeyes again and would recommend them to anyone. Excellent work and great folks to work with.

Crew arrived on time in the morning as promised. The service team was professional and very polite...they of course cleaned up before they left and showed me my all new climate controlled crawl space. My crawl space is now a place that I can safely walk around in....as well a new location where I can store items. I am so pleased with everything...the bid was the middle bid that I received of three. I just liked the owner and the way he presented his business. And I am glad I made the deal.

He was punctual, professional, seemed very knowledgable and the price quote was competitive/fair. I needed my basement waterproofed. As it turned out, I discovered some other non-related issues that would require my attention first before waterproofing the basement. I wanted Phillip to know I would have used his service. Reasons: He answered my questions - What, why and how is it going to be done and of course the cost. He was thorough and professional. I know that when these major discoveries are repaired and if I need his service, I will definitely call on him.

Not only was Phillip prompt in answering all my questions and concerns, he was very happy to explain everything I had questions about - and I had LOTS of questions (sorry for all the e-mails, Phillip, lol). His crew was always on time, worked hard, took very brief lunch breaks, and were so courteous while working in my home. They worked steady for 2 days. There is no way my husband and I could have taken on this project, although we had thought about doing it ourselves. We have renovated this house constantly for the past 2.5 years, but I was HAPPY to pay Energeyes to do this job!
Description of Work: Phillip Bradrick, owner of Energeyes, performed a very thorough energy audit of my home on June 25. He spent at least 2.5 hours inspecting all of the areas of my home, from the crawl space to the attic, and even the perimeter of the house. On July 1, I received a 14 page report that included 32 pictures that were taken using special infrared imaging that clearly showed what I already suspected: my home was not properly insulated nor sealed. The pics pinpointed specific areas of my home that needed attention. Example: none of my ceiling light fixtures had ever been properly sealed (meaning there were holes in the ceiling that were open directly to the attic, thus my heating/cooling $$$ were being wasted). This situation was rectified by installing inverted sheetrock "boxes" over every light fixture opening in the attic area. The boxes were affixed and sealed. Other areas pinpointed through the infrared imaging showed energy loss through: bathroom vent fans, the attic access door, one exterior bedroom wall had little to no insulation (!), all doors leading in/out of the house, gaps behind crown molding, wiring penetrations in the attic, and a large part of my attic had NO insulation. A blower door test was also performed which showed that my home was leaking air at a rate of 2040 cubic feet per minute, or in other words a 48% leak waste. Detailed info was presented in yet another report, which was 8 pages in length, and it explained all the findings, how the issues could be addressed, and Phillip's recommendations on the most important issues that needed attention in order to give me the results I desired: no more freezing in the winter (it's been impossible to keep a steady, comfortable temperature throughout the house - we freeze in the winter!). We opted to: Seal all accessible air leaks in the house and attic (they even caulked around electrical outlets, and interior window frames!); insulated the attic access door with R-30 foam insulation board; installed 3 vent wells at an area where foundation vents were at grade level so water would not seep under my home; installed R-38 blown fiberglass insulation in my attic to a depth of 14.2" (he had given me a price to add 10" of insulation or R26 - which, added to what little insulation we had would have brought it up to an R30, but I felt like our current insulation was so compressed and of such poor quality that I just wanted "more"), he also installed baffles where necessary for attic ventilation. The price quoted was for an 1836 sf home. It also reflects a discount, which he did not have to give me, but I saw where Duke Energy customers who used one of their "qualified" contractors to do a seal and insulate job would be eligible for a $250 rebate. Phillip gave me a $250 discount. Can't argue with that!!

After getting a home energy audit performed, I knew I had some issues. Crawlspace humidity had allowed fungus to grow, I was uncomfortable due to the humidity that was getting into my house, and I was spending too much money both air conditioning and dehumidifying during the summer months. Phillip had provided options during an energy audit, and I chose to go the whole way -- remediate the fungal growth, seal and condition the crawlspace, and seal air leaks in the house. Admittedly, this was the more expensive option, but discussing it with him and researching some options made it sound like the best solution. The crew showed up as scheduled, over the course of a few days, to prepare the crawlspace, then seal and insulate it (including running an air intake for the furnace), and finally (the last day) seal air leaks in the house that were seen during the door blower test and infrared examination. The crawlspace was cleaned out, had been insulated and sealed, and looked better than I had ever seen it. In addition, I was pleased with how the crew handled several points on the interior work, including carefully cutting a replacement threshold to fit the garage door when they could not replace the seal in the existing one. The crew cleaned up behind themselves fairly well, leaving only some minor traces behind. The humidity levels improved somewhat over the first couple weeks, but I had hoped for even better results, so I contacted Phillip. He said that they could add a second supply vent to the crawlspace. A member of his crew came out and installed the second supply vent for the crawlspace, and this seem to be helping a little more. At this point, I'm thinking that the inside humidity is reasonable -- not as low as I would have liked, but about as good as I had been able to get it by using a dehumidifier in addition to the air conditioning before. In addition, the crawlspace is cleaner and noticeably drier. I'm about as comfortable inside now without additional dehumidification as I was last year with a high-capacity portable dehumidifier running full time, and my power bills are lower, plus no dehumidifer noise and no emptying it. I'm looking forward to seeing how the sealed+conditioned crawlspace upgrade and the air leak sealing work will affect things this winter.

Phillip Bradrick came over on time and set up his equipment. While doing so, he asked me if there was any particular issue that inspired me to request an energy audit. I informed him that my house historically has humidity problems sufficient that I normally run a dehumidifier inside during the summer, in addition to the air conditioning. Once his equipment was set up, Phillip started his testing. He inspected the interior, attic, exterior, and crawlspace. When it was done, he informed me that there were (unsurprisingly) a lot of air leaks in my house, and showed me the IR images showing where air was being drawn in. He promised a report within a week as he was taking down his equipment. About a week later, I got his report. Since he had mentioned some options while discussing the issues, I asked him for more detailed estimates for two of the options, which he provided promptly. I had noticed a couple of other reviews discussing that they chose cheaper options from those Phillip offered, and were not as happy as they expected to be with the results, so I asked Phillip about the relative benefits of each of the options he provided. I was satisfied with his explanation -- while he did not push heavily toward 'upselling' me to the more expensive options, he did explain how it was better than the others.

I requested online estimates for this task. My attic had been contaminated by an accidental spill of sanded grout. Mr. Bradrick contacted me right away and came out to my home to evaluate the job. I explained my needs, which were most importantly, to remove the spilled material from my attic. He assured me that his company could provide that service and that they had experience in removal of insulation from contaminated attics. He stated that removal would occur on the first day and re-installation would take place the second day. He also stated that his crew would remove the batting insulation installed beneath the decking in my attic and vacuum carefully with their more powerful insulation extraction hoses beneath the decking. The crew was late in arriving the day of the removal. They were very polite and cheerful young men, but seemed ill prepared for the task. They took longer at mid day break to haul the first load of removed insulation to a dump, as they had not yet located a dump to which to deliver it. Their late arrival and longer midday break resulted in the insulation extraction process being only 2/3 complete at the end of the first day. I had hired another crew to additionally vacuum after the Energeyes crew and so that were unable to completly vacuum behind the Energeyes crew. The blown-in insulation extraction was completed by Energeyes the second day. I then had to remind the crew that they were also to remove the batting insulation under the decking and vacuum under it. They removed the batting, but did not vacuum under the decking with the extraction hose as promised, using only my Shop Vac, which did not have an adequately long hose. The Energeyes crew also stepped on the unsupported dry wall of my garage ceiling and caused a large crack and several nail pops, and they left a very large bag of the extracted batting in my attic, perched on rafters, which I had to remove. In checking after their batting insulation removal, I had to follow up on my own with my Shop Vac to remove grit that I found under my decking, though I could not reach as far as I had been told the crew would do with their vacuum extraction hose. This was very difficult for me, as I was dealing with a knee injury. It should have never been required. In installing the new insulation the crew also reused some or part of the same corrugated hose as was used in extraction of the contaminated insulation. This was done despite my repeatedly expressed request that they use clean hosing. Mr. Bradrick later insisted that the hoses should have been adequately evacuated in the insulation removal, but I do not believe this was the case as they were corrugated and the grout dust removed was very fine. This resulted in reintroduction of some of the grit removed in extraction back into my attic environment. But more importantly, the crew did not take care to protect the new insulation from other environmental contamination. I had made it quite clear to Mr. Bradrick and to his crew that a grit free attic and clean insulation were my expected goals. The crew had parked their truck, on which was mounted the insulation blower, on the street, directly above a collection of sand, soil, and other road dirt sediment in the gutter. They could have parked in my very clean concrete driveway, or in my garage, where they stored some of their equipment overnight, or they could have washed the gutter and street around the truck, or alerted me to this hazard and I would have taken extra precautions. It was very dry and hot that day and the pull of the fan on the installation device was such that more dust and dirt, this time from my street and the surrounding environment, was injected with the new insulation throughout my attic. When I discovered this, I complained to Mr. Bradrick but he did not offer to come out to see this, insisting instead that some dust in installation was to be expected. I had expected Energeyes to come out shortly to repair the ceiling damage, but instead a few days later Mr. Bradrick asked me instead to request an estimate from my handyman to do the repairs, as I had expressed concern about additional repair dust in my garage. He did pay my handyman directly for the ceiling repair. I spent several days vacuuming and wiping in my attic to remove dust that I could easily reach. A few weeks later I requested that my Discover account refuse payment for the charges for this service (a down payment and final payment) as I did not believe the work had been done in a careful and workmanship like manner. In a visit much later Mr. Bradrick showed me a sample the filter material he claims was used on his insulation injection equipment, but I am unsure if in fact such was used, as I did not see it. In any case, the filter was quite coarse and would have easily permitted to pass through the grit and dust distributed throughout my attic and in my insulation material with its installation. I asked Energeyes to reperform the task, this time taking care to protect the insulation on installation, as they effectively created a condition much worse than that which I had hired them to correct. Mr. Bradrick refused, and all that he would offer was $400 to partially offset an HVAC duct cleaning in my home. I authorized Discover to reinstate the disputed charges to avoid a contractor's lien on my home, but I will have to have all of their work redone. I would never use Energeyes again for any service. They simply were not careful, in their work and Mr. Bradrick's promises of a job well done were entirely misleading.

Dear [member name removed], I appreciate the opportunity to work with you and am sorry to hear that you are still not satisfied after accepting my offer of a partial refund. Your outstanding concern is that we sucked in dirt from the street with our insulation blower and re-introduced dust from the hose that was used for the insulation removal. The following reasons are why I don't believe that is the case. 1) The insulation blower is in a trailer raised 18 inches off the street. 2) The insulation blower has three large intakes which reduce the velocity of the air being drawn into the machine. 3) All three of these intakes are covered with a thick filter to keep dust out of the machine. 4) We had 300 ft of hose on the truck. 150 was used to vacuum out the insulation and the other 150 was used to blow in the insulation into the attic. Due to these factors and my experience using this machine on hundreds of jobs leads me to believe that your diagnosis of the situation is incorrect. This put me in the challenging position of recommending another solution to you which I believe would be the best option for resolving your concern of dust in your house. I offered to refund you $400 dollars to help defray the cost of cleaning your duct system. Since you had mentioned an ongoing issue with leaks in your duct system, having your duct system sealed and cleaned is your best defense from pulling in dust from the attic. I offered you this as a solution to your concerns on Thursday, May 15 and you let me know on the 19th that you would accept my offer. Since you already accepted my offer of a partial refund of $400 dollars as a resolution to your concerns and due to the fact that I have labor and material cost that I must pay on my end, I am not able to meet your additional request for another refund of $2500. Thank you for reaching out to us. I hope that this further explanation helps clarify the course of action we have taken and the reason that we unfortunately cannot meet your additional request.

The owner of Energeyes visited our house and showed us where our problems were and explained the best way to permanently fix them for a reasonable price. He sent out a very professional and polite 18 year old man who worked very hard digging the interior foundation drain. The work was much more difficult and dirty because there was very heavy rain during the two plus days he ended up working there which caused much more water inside the foundation where he was working. He did 90% of the work himself. It was a real challenge but he did a great job and the system was reality tested due to the rain. It worked as it should. The young man kept us informed, was a pleasure to work with and did a great job.
Description of Work: Installed an interior foundation drain along the perimeter of the foundation from the front corner of the house where it meets the garage to the sump pump. Drain includes a perforated drain pipe for ground moisture. The foundation was water proofed and the ditch back filled with drainage rock. The drain line to the sump pump was tied into the gutter drain system to drain moisture away from the house.

Super, Super, Super!! The guys were here when they said they'd be, they answered questions - and when they did not have an answer, they found the answer AND ADDRESSED IT (without our prompting). They checked in several times/day. ("we're here.", "We're heading to lunch, and we have to run to the store so we will be a few minutes longer", "We'll be back tomorrow at ___ o'clock"...) We keep some of our interior doors locked for our toddler's safety and they never forgot to lock the door behind them. They even planned where they would work in our house around our toddler's naptime (without reminder). I mean, who does that??! :o) The first day of work it was a bit chilly outside. They started work in our attic. The next 2 days were sunny and warm-ish (it is only March and unseasonably cool this year). But I swear we noticed a difference in the way the upstairs rooms were feeling comfort-wise immediately! Now, that we've had a few more nice days I am certain that the work EnergEyes did has impacted our home in a very positive way! Great people, with a great work ethic. Personable. Trustworthy. Fair.
Description of Work: We started with an energy audit. Once we rec'd the results we decided to go forward with their "best" package option. They spent 6+ full days with an average of 3 guys working each day installing insulation, weather stripping, foam, caulking windows, and basically closing up (as best as humanly possible) the air leaks in our house. They fixed a gap present when our front door was shut - service above and beyond. VERY PLEASED

Energeyes performed an excellent job waterproofing the crawlspace. The service was performed in a timely manner. The technicians also made an extra effort to protect the landscaped areas, although the job required them to dig up areas to install the drainage system. I would highly recommend Energeyes. The company provides great customer service, superior work and at a reasonable cost. I highly recommend them and plan to use their services for a home energy efficiency evaluation in upcoming weeks.
Description of Work: Energeyes waterproofed the crawlspace to ensure the area remained moisture free. Drainage system installed to mitigate problem.

After receiving several quotes from various insulation and energy companies Energeyes was one of the last companies to come out for a quote. I had done extensive online research about insulation, energy efficiency, and crawl space insulation. I received quotes from $500- $12,000. As I worked to educate myself about our energy needs through research and quotes it quickly became apparent that companies took various approaches to selling and installing insulation. I found Energeyes valued my questions and needs as a customer throughout the entire process. Phillip, the owner, was the first of 6 contractors to actually take time to sit down with me and explain two different quotes. Other companies just emailed me jaw dropping quotes with very little detail or simple quotes with no additional details. He shared various options, including the necessities as well as other options that could make our home more energy efficient in the future. Phillip listened to my questions and provided samples and suggestions. We worked out a quote that fit our needs and budget. Phillip and the staff who worked in our home were nothing but professionals. I would highly recommend using energeyes to any of my neighbors or friends. We plan to use Energeyes in the future.
Description of Work: Sealed any leaks in the attic. Sprayed-in insulation to even out the attic insulation. Resecured any insulation in the crawl space in addition to adding insulation were needed.

Energeyes owner, Phillip Bradrick, came out and inspected and measured the area. Emailed me the detailed estimate. He broke down the estimate into three parts, removal, replacing and the vapor barrier. The 2 young men arrived promptly and after a friendly greeting, went to work. It was clear that they knew their mission. They removed all of the old insulation, bundled and took it to they construction dumpster. When they returned, again, they went straight to work replacing the new insulation. After a short lunch break, they finished the vapor barrier and finished picking up the debris. They came to my door to tell me that they were finished, gave me their report that everything went as planned and asked if I had any questions. I had some questions for Phillip, that I emailed to him and he responded by email almost immediately. My neighbor has the same problem that I did, and has hired this company to do his crawlspace work. Definitely a first class job, start to finish.
Description of Work: The guys removed and replaced fibreglass insulation, picked up debris, and put down a vapor barrier.

Our realtor recommended Energeyes when we bought a house that had some moisture issues in the crawl space. Philip gave us three estimates: one for a new vapor barrier ($1900), one for a vapor barrier plus a new drainage system ($2700), and one for a completely sealed crawlspace and the drainage system ($3800). Since the sellers were going to pay for it and we wanted to negotiate in good faith, we selected the mid-range estimate. It was our understanding that any of the three estimates would solve our moisture problems but that the vapor barrier would need to be replaced again at some point down the road if we didn't opt for the sealed crawlspace. Initially, we were very happy with Philip's professionalism and promptness; he got right to work on a new drainage system and vapor barrier/installation so that it was done before we moved in. About a week later, a pest control serviceman was at our house and pointed out standing water in the crawl space, an issue that should have been resolved by the work Philip did. I called him to tell him and he said the company was notorious for trying to scare people into buying additional services but that he would come take a look because we should "definitely not have standing water." I told him that the serviceman also mentioned that the vapor barrier was not installed correctly; he assured me that he had installed the vapor barrier correctly. He came over that afternoon and spoke to my husband. After checking out the crawl space, he told my husband that some water was normal and that if we wanted to actually correct the moisture problems we should have gone with the sealed crawlspace. We interpreted this to mean that he allowed us to pay him for $2700 worth of work with no expectation that it was solve our problems. He never told us that the sealed crawlspace was the only effective option; only that it was the "best" option. If we'd known that, we could have asked the sellers to pay for the $3800 quote. We asked Philip about the installation and he said it was not in our contract to "secure the crawlspace." The vapor barrier is covering the floor but just has a few cinder blocks thrown against the walls every 6-10 feet; the vapor barrier is not secured to the walls to keep moisture out of the foundation. It doesn't seem to me that any contract to install something doesn't include the expectation to install it properly. We asked him to make it right and he very politely told us no. We had to hire someone else to properly secure the vapor barrier and fix the A/C pipes so that they wouldn't leak condensate. I wish we'd had a better experience with Philip, but unfortunately we cannot recommend Energeyes.
Description of Work: He installed a new vapor barrier and new installation and put in a drain to divert surface water drainage from the sloped backyard around the house and into the front yard instead of towards the house where it could cause damage to the foundation.

Response from Energeyes
I am sorry to that you were disappointed with the work that we provided. I think that the first problem that occurred was a communication break down explaining the features of the options we provided to your Realtor and then him passing that on to you. When I gave him the three options I specifically mentioned that unless you all went with the fully sealed crawlspace that there was the potential for condensation collecting on your ducts. This is a very common problem in most vented crawlspaces in NC and is why there was moisture on top of the plastic after we did the drainage work. The reason the other options were provided is because they significantly reduced the moisture levels and brought the crawlspace up to meet current codes. I know that you also mentioned the fact that we did not pin the plastic in place like your pest control person said that it "should" be done. This is a matter of opinion. Pining the plastic in place is is an option but is not required by code. I would certainly like to do what ever I can to resolve this issue with you and have expressed that over the phone but to-date have not heard back from you. Please feel free to contact me and we can discuss how to resolve this.

I contacted Energeyes, Phillip Bradrick because my energy bills were outrageous and asked him to perform an energy audit on my house. Phillip came to my house did a complete and thorough inspection. He took me around to show me the areas of opportunity and provided pictures with his written report. Phillip provided me with several recommendations. He also researched the amount of money I was paying for propane and conveyed to me prices of competitors, recommending I contact other providers and negotiate for a better price. I chose the work I wanted done and Phillip was able to complete the work efficiently and well within the time frame allotted. Results were outstanding. My monthly bills over the past two years have been several hundred dollars per month less than than previous years, during peak heating season and energy consumption has been significantly less. Better yet we do not freeze in the Winter. Over the past couple of years the savings has been over $2000. Beyond that, Phillip is always available to provide advice and answer questions concerning energy. I highly recommend Energeyes to anyone and everyone.

We noticed that our master bedroom seemed to be about 5 degress cooler than the rest of the house so we called Energeyes and asked them to do an energy efficiency audit on our home. We had used them to do similar work in our previous home so we knew we could trust them. They brought some cool equipment out to do a pressure test on the house and through this they found several areas where we were leaking air to the outside. They also used an infrared camera which found leaks around plumbing/ventilation ducts in the bathrooms and leaks around our attic door. They gave us an estimate for how to reduce the air leaks and made several other suggestions on ways we could improve the temperature in the master bedroom. Energeyes made the repairs promptly and at a great price. They cleaned up thoroughly and were very professional. I highly recommend the Energeyes team.
