Ralph was very patient and helpful in my fence design. When Jason installed it, it was ideal and took all my concerns into play. I am adding an extension for my garden and will definitely use American Heritage again. Honestly, I do not think I could use anyone else after the wonderful experience I have had with my ever first fencing project. I feel so fortunate to have selected them, and thank you to Angies List.

In summary, you get what you pay for. Professional and courteous craftsmen that know their trade and are true artisans. Perhaps a bit more expensive than other installers, but the result is quite amazing. After about a 3-week wait for materials from time of estimate, the job was completed in 1.5 days separated by a weekend to allow the cement to cure. The wood privacy fence is amazingly straight and follows the landscape beautifully. The aluminum sections on either side of the front look great and are very functional. The driveway gate looks great and is easy operate. It is also nice to work with a family run operation.

Ralph worked with us to get exactly the path we wanted for our fence, even giving us multiple options. He was always right on time. His son led the crew that installed the fencing, which they did very quickly, and with great quality, and at an amazing price! This is the best home/property improvement experience I have ever had. I mean that. Our dog loves the new fenced-in yard, and the fence looks absolutely amazing. 100+% satisfied.

Ralph came out last summer and gave us an estimate for the fence. We altered our plans and chose another fence, which we installed this summer. The flags Ralph had placed last summer still were in place so there was little to do but set to work. Ralph exchanged email proposals with us, offered to help clear any hurdles with HOA, even showed us a sample of the wood used in the fencing. It's a family-owned operation and very responsive. The price was a little higher than other quotes, but we decided to go with his reputation for good quality. We weren't disappointed. We had to go out of town shortly after the post footings were placed. Leaving a contractor working alone can be risky, but we returned to find a great fence, no mess and an email letting us know the work was done. My one little nit-pick is that the guys apparently had to combine our front and backyard water hoses to reach the fence with water. They left things neat, but then I had to go looking for my front yard hose. Finally figured out they'd left the two hoses connected and rolled up together in the back. Still, no harm done. Great work!

He was very accurate. I was very pleased because it?s a family owned company so I didn?t feel like one of a thousand people that they are doing a job for. I got personal service. The father came out to do the estimate and then his son and a worker came out to do the actual labor. They came in and installed the posts on a Tuesday and by Friday the fence was totally up. Where he ran into a problem, he worked very hard to get everything to look absolutely perfect. Where it looked perfect to me it still didn?t to him so he went back and did some more. He was very professional and he did more than I thought he could possibly do. In everything they did, I could not find anything wrong. I?ve gotten many compliments on my fence and I would recommend this company. Their prices were very fair.

It went great! The owner and operator was very courteous, timely, and professional. I explained to him that my objective for the backyard was to create a safe area for my 3 dogs to play that they could not escape from (my dogs aren't diggers, but they can jump 4 ft fences). With my goals/concerns in mind he was able to explain to me the disadvantages of the type of fence I was originally considering (a split rail with wire - he explained it would only help my dogs climb the fence and jump out) and offered a wonderful alternative ("no-climb" wire fencing). He was very willing to provide two estimates for us - one using mostly wire fencing and another that included using more wood privacy fencing. We were astonished that his price for the privacy fencing was so reasonable and chose that option. For the areas that we did use the wire fencing he made sure to put the posts at intervals such that it could be later 'converted' to a privacy fence if we, or the next owners, chose to do so. This ensures that such a change would be much less costly and labor intensive than it would have been otherwise. At no additional cost, he also helped make my yard dog-proof by adding some wire below a small section of my neighbor's fence (with their permission). That portion of the fence was about a foot above the ground due to the contour of the land. The wire he added ensures that my dogs won't shimmy under the fence! Overall, I felt that his price was extremely reasonable and very competitive. I couldn't believe what a value I got for my money! I only wish he had been in Indiana two years ago when I installed a fence at my last house - I paid $5000 for that fence! The work was actually completed while we were out of town. We were a little bit nervous about this, but we wanted the fence done asap. I never should have worried - everything turned out great! It was completed on schedule and with no mistakes. If I had to find a fault it would only be that a couple sets of nails got left behind. They must have fallen into the ivy and got missed when the workers cleaned up. I found the nails before my dogs did, so 'no harm, no foul.'

During our 1st visit for an estimate, the owner spent at least an hour with us giving us ideas about the fence and offered several options for us to consider. He was extremely knowledgable and offered us suggestions on ways to save money but also other issues to consider (gate in the back part of the yard, double gate on side, etc). 1/2 deposit was charged on Dec 14th and fence was installed starting on January 14th through January 19th. The fence would have been completed sooner, but they wanted to ensure the cement was set due to the cold weather. The company also filed for a permit with the city for us and that was approved before they charged us the 1st half of the fence cost. Everyone is completely professional, very knowledgable and workmanship was oustanding!

I was very happy with the entire process. This is a small family-owned business that seems to pride itself on service. They were careful about measuring my boundaries prior to installing the fence posts. They were very proficient about completing the job under less than ideal weather conditions. The final product is great. It was also a pleasure dealing with them since they were both courteous and knowledgeable. I would definitely use them again.

Ralph gave us a few options as to different heights, widths of pickets, and melding of old and new fence. He was very professional and came to do the estimate the day after I called him. He was on time for his appointment. His son came with his men also on time and told me exactly what they were going to do and cleaned up after themselves every day. It took an extra day or so because of rain but that was not their fault. Everything went exactly as they said it would and I would use they again in a heartbeat!!

It is a family owned business and they were polite, respectful and courteous. They were also prompt, honest, professional and punctual. I never felt rushed or pressured when they came out to give me an estimate. They completed the work quickly and they even came back to add another gate to the fence. I was very satisfied with their service.

Entire process from quote and proposal through installation was excellent. This is a family owned and operated business, the personal touch and commitment to customer satisfaction was evident throughout the process. Final product exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend this company.

The work was done quickly and the result is excellent. The new fence is solid and I was delighted to see they used larger posts for the gates. They also did a nice job with the hardware on the gates. It turned out great. The price seemed high but I think it was well worth it. The owner did a great job with the estimate and was good at explaining how they would work around problem areas near trees. Overall a really professional, efficient job with great results. I would highly recommend them.

Mr. Brown called me back promptly to arrange a time to come out and look at the project. He arrived early, asked what we had in mind, told us what we was going to do and did it. He found all the iron stakes that marked our lot lines and put flags where fence posts and corners would go to give us an idea of where the fence would be. He provided a site plan drawn on our survey along with a detailed estimate that fulfilled all the requirements of our homeowners association rules to get pre-approval to erect a fence. Mr. Brown emailed the estimate, proposal and drawings. Once we had approval, we emailed him and he arranged a time to come out and mark utilities and have posts set. He and the crew arrived exactly when they said, they always called the day before to confirm, and did an outstanding job on the fence installation. We got 3 gates which they constructed on site. They even smoothed the ground around the concrete balls where they set the posts. In addition, we had a few small trees in the line of the fence which they took down. We could not be more pleased with the job and feel we got great value for our money. Mr. Brown also provided the name of a man that we intend to engage to spray seal a protective coating on the fence.

Call RALPH!!! From start to finish you get what you pay for. From the first estimate, when he came out and helped me design the perfect privacy fence that complemented our unleveled yard, to easement issues, homeowner association questions and city of Raleigh restrictions. I am a women, and he treated me with the utmost respect regarding what I wanted, what a fair price was, and with my working nights- when was the best time for me and my sleep schedule for him to come out and get the work done. I had 10 quotes from other fencing contractors, and his knowledge, fair price for the quality wood I was receiving, and ability to work around irrigation systems was the deciding factor for me at the beginning. Since the work has been completed, I have had other contractors who drive by my house ask me who put up my fence. The thing is as level and as straight as a pack of playing cards, and the hardware he uses is built to last.

The owner himself came out to take a look at our yard and give us a free estimate -- most fence companies will not do this for you! He gave us some good advice about the back part of the fence, and answered all of our questions thoroughly. They did a terrific job on the fence itself, and their craftsmanship far exceeded our expectations. Our yard slopes, and yet the top of the fence is perfectly level. They didn't skimp on the posts for the wire fence; they are sturdy, wood posts, well-seated in concrete. The fence is beautiful, and looks like it will last a lifetime -- if not longer. We are so pleased with the work! They may be a little more expensive than other fence companies, but the quality of their work is well worth it.

Ralph spent a great deal of time with us discussing design options, construction techniques and materials. His company has many years of experience and build what I feel to be a superior product.

We called three companies to provide an estimate for the project. All came as scheduled, but we were very impressed with the preparation and time that Mr. Brown spent with us. Although American Heritage was the highest bidder on the project, we chose them to replace and build the fence. Mr. Brown was very patient as we made modifications to the plan. The crew arrived a day earlier than expected to remove the existing fence and set the new posts which was a plus. At the end of the day, all materials were removed from the site. They came back as planned to complete the fence once the posts were set. The fence looks great! I could not have asked for a more professional group to work with. Quality materials, workmanship, and professionalism.

Ralph Brown returned my call right away, a plus since once company I called from Angie's List never bothered to return my call. He showed up on time to walk the yard and give me an estimate. I liked that he understood I wanted just a good, basic fence and didn't try to upsell me to fancier designs. Also, the property has an issue with a drainage easement, and he was very knowledgeable about how to work with that issue with regard to the fencing. The estimate arrived by email a few days later and was very reasonable. After I agree to the proposal, you do have to wait to hear back about scheduling because they have to order the supplies in the meantime. When they did come, they went about the work quickly and returned a few days later (after the concrete had time to set) to finish it. They did a great job!

We have decided to work with AHF, once the homeowner's association okays the plan. I was very impressed with the promptness and professional attitude of this company. I was given a quote within 24 hours and drawings shortly thereafter. The price was exactly what we were thinking it should be. No surprises there. I contacted 3 companies and this was the only company that actually showed up.

Great company to work with. Very professional. Old school values, modern products, & true craftsmanship. They keep their word, return all calls promptly, and always keep you informed. I would highly recommend them for any fencing needs. Their work has definitely increased my property value.
