We called A1 installer after purchasing an Angie's List Deal they were offering for a home theater system install. We had purchased a system nearly two years ago that ultimately ended up back in the box because the receiver never worked. After Robert called us to set up the appointment (which is unheard of!), we explained about the system and he told us it was probably a simple setting that needed to be changed. Sure enough, he showed up and with the flip of a switch we had a working receiver. He and his helper then set up the speakers and the wiring into the walls and hooked everything up, as neatly and quickly as I have ever seen - we didn't even have to repaint any of our sheetrock. After my husband complained about all of our remotes, he sold us a universal remote which he programmed on the spot, answered all of our questions about, and showed us how to work everything with it. We were incredibly happy with our install, and are now incredibly happy with our WORKING sound system. We would definitely recommend A1 Installer to anyone.

The service was outstanding. I couldn't have expected better response to scheduling the service, on-time arrival and what I wanted in a system. Robert had several good suggestions (wisely talking me out of some of my ideas) that only improved the experience and the outcome. Overall, they were efficient, very friendly, kind to my mutt (even though she wanted to play with them the entire time they were here) and left me with an audio experience that exceeds my expectations unless I purchase newer, much higher end equipment. I will have no reservations recommending Robert and A1 and, if needed, will definitely call them again.

Robert and his assistant were early, friendly, and flexible. They worked hard, cleanly, and efficiently and I was pleased with the end results. I used the system the night they put it in and it was a very pleasant experience. I would recommend them to other friends in the area and I'm glad I've found a good resource for this kind of project.

I highly recommend Robert for home theater installation & tuning. I needed rear surround sound speakers installed at my new townhouse that was on a slab. Robert quickly assessed my problem and came up with a great solution that involved going out my brick wall and using in-the-wall rear speakers with hidden wires. Robert’s work was very professionally and the total price was very reasonable.

This was the first time I used one of Angie's list deals. Robert arrived on time and did a great job running the speaker wire through my ceiling.

This was a great experience. Robert returned my call quickly and he and his office scheduled the installation to fit my schedule. I was not sure exactly how much work I would need / want, so Robert brought all the materials just incase. Once he got to my house, he asked a few questions about installation needs and wants and then went to work hanging the tv mount and running the wires through the wall. The tv installation looks great and turned out exactly how I wanted it to. After that "easy" task, he got to work mounting the speakers for my home theater system in another room. He had to run wires through the attic and then mounted the speakers on the walls. He also asked what other devices I would like to use (Playstation, etc) and made sure I knew how to connect them based on the available connections left on my system. Once the work was done, he tuned the system based on the space and made sure I was satisfied with the installation and operation. Overall, I am very happy with his work and will go to him again for additional projects.

Great experience with A1. Needed outdoor speaker wires routed through the outside wall of my house and down into my crawl space. Robert promptly replied to my initial email and I called and arranged for an install the following week (he could have accommodated me sooner but I wasn't available). Robert arrived promptly when scheduled, went through the project with me, gave me his insight, then got to work. The job took him 3 hrs (fishing and snaking the wires up the wall and out to my deck and then down into the crawl space; hanging and wiring the outdoor speakers) and when all was said and done, he tested the speakers (sounded great), cleaned up the work area, vacuumed, and settled up - $150, just as quoted. Very professional and personable. I will use for every wiring job that I can't do myself from here forward and highly recommend to anyone looking for similar work (including indoor jobs).

First off, let me say Robert had great professionalism. He pulled in our driveway and some idiot neighbor made a scene about how people speed on our road (Robert was NOT speeding). Anyway, Robert was very professional and didn't let it bother him. Now, the installation was fantastic. It took him longer than anticipated b/c I thought we had our surround sound already roughed in, but it was something different, so he had do it all from scratch. In the end, it was all perfect and we are SO happy. Plus, the price was right on point. Robert will be our go-to guy from now on with anything audio/video. Thanks!

Robert came out right away and gave me some ideas and provided me with a quote in a professional format via PDF. We ended up not working togetehr because i ended up using my buddy's installer at his restaurant. He seemed passionate about what he does and was very professional. We may work together on some other projects in the future. Thanks

We just moved into a 10 year old home that had a built-in house audio system that was dated and very unfamiliar. In addition, we wanted to add some cable and ethernet connections in other rooms, and mount a couple of TVs on the wall with a sound system. I used Angieslist to locate the right person and decided on Robert Doelker of A1 Installer. I was a bit skeptical about the house audio system because of its age and the 'abandoned' equipment that was left by the former owner. I contact Robert for a quote and was amazed with his depth and breadth of knowledge especially with the existing system and equipment. Apparently, I had some quailty equipment which I considered trashing until I met with Robert. Sure glad I didn't! Robert went through the entire system connectinig all of the components and showing us how to use it. He then ran all of the wire for ethernet and cable inside, outside, and under the house, non of which is visible. He spent 2 days onsite and everything was in great working order when he was done. He guarantees his work and make no qualms about coming back to correct or repair something. We now can enjoy all of our 'toys' in comfort! The only glitch that we've experienced is with the 'whoopty-do' remote. I contacted Robert recently and expect he'll be onsite today to correct the problem.

Robert and his assistance arrived earlier at the old house, took down the 42" TV and patched the wall in no time. He Installed both TVs, setup the Home theater and gave a basic training of how everything works. It was excellently done.

As was the case the times I've turned to him before, Robert showed up when he said he would, was fully prepared, and got right to work. Soon he was pointing out to me that the download speed time would greatly improve if he could move a thing or two. It was amazing. I saw the before and after speed tests he ran. This is one of the big plusses of choosing Robert -- not only is he so knowledgeable and skilled, he doesn't hesitate to offer advice on how to do something better, or in a less expensive way, and my experience is that his advice is always spot on. At our house he ran into some issues he had not encountered in previous similar jobs, but he just persisted and solved everything. This is a trait I had noticed previously -- Robert Doelker really knows his stuff and is a remarkably skilled problem solver. He's not one of those guys who gives you excuses -- he gives you solutions. I found Robert quite by accident a couple years ago now when we encountered problems with our media center operation and there was no way I was about to call back the guy whom our computer expert company had us use because he was affiliated with him (although they did not stand by his work, it turned out). In 5 minutes that first time in our house Robert correctly diagnosed the problem and swiftly proceed to fix everything the other guy had done wrong. Once again I am absolutely delighted that I chose Robert Doelker and A1 Installer. His work is outstanding, his charges reasonable, he is a very nice, pleasant guy to work with and he stands behind his work. I'd recommend him enthusiastically and without any reservation. No reasonable person could expect better service, better quality work or better value.

I had contacted a lot of companies and most didn't even give me the time of day once they realized I wouldn't need to buy anything from them. Robert from A1 Installer was a different story. Robert came to my house to give me a free estimate while other companies wanted to charge me up to $75. He was professional, kind, knowledgeable and did a great job of explaining everything when he was finished. Also, he came up with with a few good ideas that I hadn't thought of that have really made my home theatre much better. I have no concerns about recommending A1 Installer to everyone I know that needs help in the home theatre area. Thank you very much Robert!

They are extremely knowledgeable. Their service is excellent. Their response is prompt and their follow up is excellent. They came back to look at one that we'd had done by somebody else which didn't seem right and we were very impressed with A1 Installers. They just did superb work and did find the problems fast and solved them. Subsequently we had them out here again because we’d had a house intercom system and that hadn't been working right and once again I was surprised at how quickly and effectively they did the job. Robert, the owner is the work who did the work. Each time we've had him and he has been good. We recommended him to our daughter and son-in-law for some work that they had and they used them and they used them again recently. We know that they in turn recommended him to friends of theirs and he is very good. He is outstanding. I would use him again in the future. His price is very competitive and very reasonable. The quality of work is superb. He explains everything to me. He would check back with us later to see if everything was fine and it was. Another time we've had some issue with the remote and he said he would check it the next time he stopped by, and he did that at no charge. We wouldn’t feel a need to call anybody else. He's even gone so far as to recommend a couple of different products and stopped by the store to pick it up. I recommend him to others.

The owner's name was Robert Doelker. He came out, he took time to test all the speakers and narrowed it down to the amplifier with that. The amplifier was so old that it was obviously not available anymore. He took the time to search around to find a used one, sourced it online, brought it in, and installed it. He double checked to see if the speakers were working correctly. He also was double checking to make sure that it wasn't the speakers that were bad. The speakers were fine. It was just that the amplifier needed replacement. I think he went over and beyond what anybody else would have done. He did the troubleshooting for us.

I was very pleased with the installation. He had a morning appointment run long and so was a bit late arriving, but he called before the time and made sure I knew he was running about 30 minutes late. When he arrived we discussed what I wanted to get out of the antenna, including which channels were important to me and where I was going to be connecting TVs. He then determined the best place for the antenna to get me a good line at the Garner tower farm, as well as a decent shot of getting PBS out of UNC. After that, he checked my cable outlets to see which outlets went to which cables outside. The antenna was installed, hooked into those outlets, and then we tested the signal on each outlet. Once we determined all the locals were coming in clear on all 3 outlets, he went back outside to clean up all the connections, and then brought the amp power supply inside so it would be safe from the elements. All told the installation took about 2 hours from start to finish, and the signal has been very clean in the two weeks since with no issues watching broadcast TV. I found him to be very knowledgable on HDTV and home theater. We talked about a few other home theater topics while he was here, and he has certainly done his research and knows what is going on in the field.

I called Robert to take a look. He came out and did some checks, got it fixed! He mentioned some other helpful solutions to other issues I had for speakers. He followed up with me promptly!

Robert sized up the problem quickly and told us the solution, about which he was right. So we asked him to assess our home theater system. He did -- and what a difference in the way we now experience it. He explained why our system wasn't performing up to par and made the corrections that have made a world of difference. We also used him to set up another system in our house. He was not in our home very long before it was very obvious to us that we had selected someone we sure wish we had selected the first time. And Robert programed for us and showed us how to get the most of of a universal remote we owned but had not used. When in the first couple days of using it we kept messing up he patiently re-explained things to us. One day out of the blue we received a call from Robert asking us if everything was fine and if we had any questions. When we said everything was perfect and only wished we were better at using the universal he said he'd call next time he was in the area and come by and give us a hand. No charge. Just great service. Our only hesitation in singing the praises of Robert and A1 Installer is that he might get so much new business that we'll have to stand in line should we ever have another TV or home entertainment problem. By the way, Robert also does great handyman work. He even knows computer issues very well and solved one of us while he was here.
