The owner, Chad Rodman, put down $675 worth of sod in a rush to finish a large project and did not do it correctly, most of it died and never took root, and he is not fulfilling his warranty to replace it. He put the sod down over existing grass and compacted soil with no tilling, raking, or soil preparation, against experts' advice and industry standards. He did it over the course of 2 days, leaving some of the truck for more than 30 hours when it is supposed to be planted and watered the day of the delivery. He never watered it when it was put down or in the days afterward when he returned. He never informed me of a watering schedule, but the average temperature in April 2018 for Raleigh was not hot, averaging 70.1F, so I watered it multiple times a week. After that I notified him it wasn't growing and he said it would take root if I watered it multiple times a day for ~2 weeks. So I purchased water faucet timers and correctly positioned sprinklers to water the sod patches multiple times a day for 2 weeks as recommended. The rest of my lawn looks great but his sod patches are mostly still dead and will be costly to redo. This should have been done correctly the first time. Before submitting my final payment to him, I voiced concerned with the lack of soil prep and how the sod would grow, and I asked for wording in the invoice saying he would fix any issues. He agreed to do so. However, he is now claiming no responsibility for the sod not growing and is refusing to fulfill his warranty to replace it. I have many pictures documenting the sod laid on existing grass without soil prep.
