They are great! Very professional and friendly. How could you not want to support Firefighters? I also got a quote from Home Depot and Carolina Wood Fence Co Inc. was better priced. The quality you get with Carolina Wood Fence is better, because they "stick build" the fence rather than use panels. My neighbors have panels and panels tend to get loose and fall over over-time. I would highly recommend them!

It does not get any easier than dealing with Carolina Wood fence. I went to their website, filled out a customer contact request, then I was contacted the next day. Brent came to my property the following day and provided a hard quote within 15 minutes. As soon as Carolina Wood Fence's schedule was free, the job only took 1.5 days to complete. Great work. I am very satisfied.
Description of Work: The fence on my property is 20% privacy, and 80% split rail. Carolina Wood Fence removed the old fence and then built a new similar style fence.

Overall, I was very satisfied with the quality of work. And so will you. IF THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS. My yard had an existing chain link fence. I was very specific in my meeting with Brent that I wanted the fence as close to the existing fence as possible. "No problem" says Brent. It wasn't until a few days later that I discovered that they had erected the fence almost a foot and a half further into my yard! This created an additional closed-in space around my yard between the two fences and I now have to be concerned with weeds, etc. that I now have to clean in addition to my yard. His response? "What do you care? You can't see it" and "Why did you wait a week to complain"???? Hardly the professional attitude you expect after forking over $3,200.00! My feeling is that the reason they did this was to protect themselves against any potential future liability in case they're misled by the homeowner and build the fence onto neighboring property, which I find quite arrogant on their part, especially when you possess a tract map of your property that clearly shows property lines. Something he NEVER asked to see. After reading several of the negative reviews for this company, I notice he consistently comes back with sarcasm and spinning back onto the customer. This attitude is DEFINITELY what you'll get from Spahn and company if you have any problems. Otherwise, you'll be happy with their work. Caveat: confirm and note every conversation with him and stay outside and supervise everything they do. Once the fence is up, there's no going back. Because of his condescention and arrogance, I would never recommend this company to anyone I know.

Prior to any work being done, Mrs. [removed member name] specified she wanted the fence as close as possible to the neighboring fence.I told her due to the machinery we use to dig holes and access we needed to nail that we could only physically get within 18 inches of the neighbors fence. This was clearly stated to her before any work had started. She called me 2 weeks after the fence was installed with this problem and I told her I would meet her at the property to come up with a solution and that we always strive to remedy any problem and to ensure customer satisfaction. The day before we were supposed to meet she called and stated that the fence was fine and that she was happy with the outcome.

I never met them and we just talked on the phone. He talked me through what he believe needs to be done. He said he would wrap up an estimate and email it to me within 48 hours and he lived up to his word. He followed up with me a week later to make sure I received it. I would most likely use them for the job.

We had a house built and obtained several quotes for a fence. We decided to go with Carolina Wood Fence because of price and service. Brent came out to my unfinished home, measured the area I wanted to fence in (we have over an acre but didn't want to fence it all in just yet) and provided the quote on the spot. They also told us that since we didn't know the exact closing date, they would would work us into the schedule and to keep them informed of the closing date. They were able to work us in 2 days after closing. They arrived the first day on time and was able to get all the posts into the ground and completed the install on the second day. They asked questions to ensure the fence was installed the way we wanted and would look good since we have an uneven yard. Bent was fantastic!! The fence looks great! We will definitely use them again when it is time to fully fence in the over acre of land.

We installed a pool in our backyard last summer and needed new 6ft high fencing along one side of the yard to bring the fencing up to code. I contacted Mike Spath in May, 2013 to quote on the job. He was responsive, came out measured and gave me a quote which I accepted and then gave him a deposit. Unfortunately, that spring was one of the rainiest springs we have had in years. Our project was majorly delayed and we were not able to complete the fencing until July. I always kept in touch with Mike and he said he'd do his best to fit us in when we were ready. And he did fit us in which I am thankful for. The wood was delivered a couple of days prior to date for the install and when I looked at it in the driveway, I noticed that is was a nubby picket and not a smooth picket which is what I have on the other side of the yard and what I asked to replicated on the new side. Mike was rather rude to me in his response telling me that the nubby wood is what his supplier had and that he'd have to see if he could even get the other wood and if he couldn't they would just give me money back and not do the job. I was shocked as I didn't think I was asking too much in requesting what I had asked for from the beginning. Turns out, Mike got the wood and the project moved forward. The crew, consisting of several guys, came out on time and worked so fast that all was done in a 1/2 day. The one big hick-up we had that day involved the new gate for my neighbors yard. I told Mike Spath that we would need to put a new gate up for my neighbors (as the new fence bordered their property and we took their old fence & gate down to gain access to our yard for the pool construction) and he said we'd use my old 4ft gate for them and that would not be a problem (it's even written in on my quote). Well, Brent (Mike's son) was completely unaware of this and told me that my gate could not be used. He finally just said that he would build them a new gate, which he did but it was not nearly as nice as my old gate. After the new fencing was installed we had a couple of issues with new gate (the spring and the magnetic lock) and had to contact Mike a few times for repairs. They were done but I must say, not in the most friendly manner. Brent came out to do them but never even rang the bell to let me know he was here or that they were complete. And, I always got the feeling I was bothering Mike by calling or emailing if I had a question about the work. Now, a year later, we have had some issues with the gate closing properly and have noticed some warping of the wood on both the fence gate and the gate that goes around the garbage pails & HVAC. I have a feeling it will continue to worsen and we will probably end up having to replace both gates. I admit that I have not contacted Mike Spath about these recent problems but that is only because I am afraid of his reaction. Overall, Carolina Wood fence is responsive and builds a good fence. However, I think it's very important that a contractor is as responsive and professional when something goes wrong, as it does quite often with home improvement projects, and I find that Carolina Wood Fence needs a little work in that area. In response to the Provider's response on July 24, 2014: I called the day before the install, NOT the day of, to let him know that the wood was wrong as that was the day it was delivered. My husband has NEVER threatened anyone nor would he even consider treating anyone that way. Yes he is an attorney but not a litigator, he is a commercial real estate attorney, he doesn't take people to court! The only reason he called instead of me is because I did not desire to deal with the Provider again. My children DID NOT break the gate (that is pure speculation on the part of the Provider)! Where is was coming apart was on top by the magnetic lock which they cannot even reach. The schedule changes were COMPLETELY out of our control as it was weather that kept delaying our project. This is the first I am hearing of a crew being on it's way, that is simply untrue. The provider came out prior to scheduling the crew to be sure the yard was ready. As I stated above, I appreciate VERY much the Provider working with us considering all of the delays. And yes, I did buy everyone lunch as I was trying to show good will on my part and an appreciation for the work they were doing, as my difficulties were not with the crew but the owner. Most of the issues I had with the Provider was with the owner and the unprofessional way he treats you when there is an issue. And yes, it is my responsibility to call the Provider if something goes wrong. However, when you're afraid to call because you're going to be treated poorly, you just don't and you find someone else to fix the problem.

We changed the wood that day,Keep in mind the day we were going to install she called ,I was not sure we could even get the wood,I did find it . .Her husband called and said gate was deystroyed,it (He was very threating with the call( He is an attorney) It was not deystroyed we repaired on time,Actually I think kids damaged it,If she does not call we cannot fix,Read contract on warping. She moved schedule many times and we always made room on schedule, one time she said it was ready and we had a crew on way ,(Was not even close) Sorry she feels that way (Two sides to every story) Actually she bought everyone lunch (Thanks) Customers have a responsibility also to call us to fix problems.

I called Carolina Wood Fence & immediately was able to speak with the son of the owner and in 5 minutes, it was confirmed that Mr. Spath, himself, would be out to see our property within the next 24 hours! He came out to our house on his own time without us having to worry about meeting with him just to look at our backyard area we wished to fence. This allowed for me to then so that I was able to then explain what we wanted during a quick & simple phone chat confirming everything. Now, again, this was all in a matter of 24 hrs from my initial phone call! When I spoke with Mr. Spath, he INSTANTLY knew EXACTLY what I wanted, told me it would be handled & completed & not to worry about a thing and here's he BEST part- HE MEANT THAT!! I was DESPERATE to have our fence completed because we have a 3 year old little boy & a very ornery puppy who were CONSTANTLY venturing into areas well beyond our yard & I was becoming a nervous wreck!! No joke-despite a schedule 100% full of jobs he already was committed to doing, there was a huge delivery of wood to our house only a few days later and he had a crew to our home the following weekend!!! They arrived sometime in the early am & I didn't even realize they were there until I walked outside later that afternoon & POOF!! I HAD A FINISHED FENCE!!!!! I cannot rave about them enough. I felt like they treated me as their own family & cared for my concerns as a friend would. They were UNBELIEVABLY prompt, polite, respectful, reasonable & the epitome of customer service & satisfaction.

The entire experience was great. Brent was able to come out the same day I called for an estimate. He was punctual and professional. He was able to answer questions I had about different types of fencing and made a recommendation based on my needs and budget. I had a written quote in my hand before he left. I received three other quotes and chose Carolina Wood Fence. The new fence was installed today and I was so happy to drive up to my home and see how great it looks. It really makes my entire house and yard look so much better. The new gates work wonderfully and the guys did a great job of cleaning up and hauling away the old fence. Would definitely recommend CWF to anyone looking for a small or large job!!!

Contacted Mike Spath about 8 weeks ago to see if he could extend my fence about 12 feet in a small area in my backyard. He told me that he employs a guy who does his repairs etc. but he (Mike Spath) only installs new fence. Got in touch with Mike who is the guy that does the repair work. He told me someone would be out to my house to take measurements. He sends his father and I meet him to show him exactly what I'd like to have done. He takes measurements and leaves. I get a message about a week later from Mike saying some critical measurements weren't taken and that his father will be out to get them. Another week or so passes, and I find out that, yet again, they need to come back out to get measurements (that's 3 times over the course of a few weeks). Obviously, at that point I was starting to question the competence of these guys, but Mike told me the fence was being customized and would be completed in about 3 weeks. 3-4 weeks goes by and I hadn't heard from Mike so I called him. I feel as though he didn't remember me, which was a little alarming, considering all that we went through with the measurements and the fact that he was responsible for "customizing" my new fence. I asked him when they would be extending my fence as it had been several weeks. He told me that he would personally need to come to my house to see the existing fence as he isn't sure what exactly needed to be done. "What? I thought my fence was being customized over the past 3-4 weeks" was my obvious response. Honestly, I should have just told him to forget about everything but because I already invested so much time in this process, I agreed to meet him at my house. Mike shows up on time and tells me that he's not sure if he can match the color of my aluminum fence. His father told him it was brown when it's actually somewhat similar in color to oil rubbed bronze. I told Mike that we could have avoided all of this miscommunication had he come to my home at the very beginning. He agreed and told me that I "have his word" that the fence will be installed in 2 weeks. Within the next week, I receive a text from Mike telling me "my supplier can't match the color. Sorry". After 6-7 weeks of wasting my time, the least he could have done was to call me to explain and offer an apology. Mike Spath, the owner, wasn't involved in this process so I decided to call him to explain what had happened and inform him of my displeasure and plan to write a negative review on Angie's List. He told me that I had a right to be disgruntled (although I never received an apology from Mr. Spath) and that he would "discuss" what had happened with his employee, Mike. Toward the second half of our brief conversation, he seemed to be getting a bit frustrated and angry with me as he said he always gets "A" ratings and told me that I "gotta do what I gotta do" in regards to my writing of a negative review. I wasn't happy obviously but I certainly wasn't being threatening. I just thought he should hear about this fiasco from me first, not an Angie's List review. Based on previous reviews, I know that he responds to the negative ones and will certainly respond to this although there is really no excuse for this kind of customer service. They may build a fantastic fence but their communication, or lack thereof, and treatment of this customer left alot to be desired.

Brent with Carolina Wood Fence was very quick to reply to my initial inquiry regarding the fence. He was also quick to come by the house to provide an estimate for the fence installation. I never had any difficulty in getting in touch with Brent during the planning process. He did have to reschedule our final walk through of the yard several times, but ultimately he arrived within the designated time frame. The quality of the fence was almost perfect; however, some of the spacing of the slats was slightly uneven and one of our dogs was able to find a spot that he could squeeze through. If all posts were truly even in spacing, then our dog should not be able to make it through any of the holes. Overall, Carolina Wood Fence did a great job on our yard, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to someone else.

Brent was easy to get a hold of and came out within a couple of days to estimate my job. He was able to fit me into an open time slot within a week of the estimate due to the small size of my job. Others told me it would be 2-3 months! I received three bids on this job. Carolina Wood Fence was the best price for the value they provided. It couldn't have gone smoother! I was out of town for the weekend, but coordinated my needs in advance with Brent. They showed up mid-morning on Friday, and were done sometime in the afternoon. They even sent me pictures via email to show me the results. I inspected the fence in detail when I got home. They used very high quality wood, galvanized nails, and very strong hardware for the gates. I couldn't be happier!

I contacted the owner, Mike, and he came by the same day to look over our property. It was time consuming to have our HOA approve the installation of the fence and Mike kept in touch with us throughout the entire time. When it was finally approved, Mike's son, Brent, and his crew installed the fence the following week. Work was completed within the same day and it looks great. We've already had neighbors request the name and number of the company. Our dogs LOVE being outside. This is a great company and we would definitely recommend them to others.

Excellent job with fence as planned per drawings and site survey . All materials were per documents and wife very happy with their workmanship . The crew was polite , well mannered, and professional. I was at work for entire job and work was performed as agreed . I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a fence installed . Their price was highly competitive and in the middle of estimates so we we went with their reputation and performance reviews. The job was performed in Huntersville ,nc on time and on budget.
Description of Work: Installed 250 feet of pressure treated fence on 6 foot centers with 3 rails at 4 feet tall with pickets 1.5 inches in between . They picked up 50% deposit day before materials were dropped off and completed the fence installation in one day . I had complete faith in them and all work completed in a professional timely fashion . All waste and debris were removed on site and all work was to specification. I would gladly use them again and happily refer them to family and friends . My job was halted on several occasions due to home owners specifications and piedmont natural gas setbacks and they worked with in my timeframe .

The crew did a great job cleaning up before leaving. I asked them to be very careful not to leave any gaps that might allow my dogs to get out and they did a super job making sure everything was secure. They even made a few adjustments on my existing aluminum fence at no charge! Mike and his crew arrived right on time and completed the work in a timely and very professional manner. I highly recommend Carolina Wood Fence and will use them again.
Description of Work: My split rail fence was deteriorating and I was't sure whether or not I should get a new split rail fence or possibly an aluminum fence. When Mike came out to give me an estimate, on a freezing cold Sat. am at 8 am, he suggested I repair the one I had as it would be more economical and he had a person that would do a great job. I took Mikes advice and decided to have my fence repaired. They replaced approx. 18 posts and 12 rails, built 1-10 ft gate and 2-5 ft gates and replaced the wire and hauled the old posts, rails and wire away.

The service was done very well, they came while I was at work and did a great job. They even worked on my neighbors fence while they were here. The scheduling and quote for the job was not very efficient. I was contacted very promptly via text from Mike, I appreciated him contacting me via text at my request. He was supposed to come out in a few days, after a few weeks he sent someone out who then sent me a quote that did not encompass the entire job. Mike and I texted back and forth several times and spoke trying to get a quote for the entire job. It took over 6 months from the time we initially contacted to get the correct quote and the work done. I had previously contacted another fence company and they would not return my calls to schedule the appointment after I received their quote so this was still a much better experience.
Description of Work: Replaced several rotten split rail posts, railings and also wire for fence.

We had Carolina Wood Fence install a 6 foot privacy fence for us on Dec 31, 2013. From my first contact with this company I could tell they had a passion for building fences. The quote process went quickly and Mike (the owner) always returned my emails/phones calls within an hour or two. This company?s installation process blew me away. The day before the install our chain link fence was removed. The required lumber was delivered and staged for the next day. The morning of the install was impressive. Perhaps 6-8 people arrived and looked to be working in teams. Everyone knew their tasks and got right to work. Most impressive was the scrutiny of the wood that took place prior to its use. It did not take long before a ?not good enough? wood pile emerged which was sent back to the distributing source. In less than 6 hours we had roughly 374 linear feet of privacy fence installed (plus a 5 foot gate). The resulting end product is definitely something to be proud of (attractive, sturdy and straight). This is not my first fence experience as I have had two other fences installed in a prior location from companies that list in Angies. To be blunt Carolina Wood Fence puts them to shame in both product and customer service. I have recommended this company to my friends / family and you would be wise to check them out if you are shopping for a fence.
