Funny, if I had read the reviews on Angie's list, I may have hesitated about hiring this company. However, I used Thumbtack and there were positive reviews there. I have to say, I had a fantastic experience. I had several companies never return my calls or tell me flat out that they were booked for 4 months. Triad Tree got back to me within minutes. Set up time to come out to the house and guaranteed that they could match or beat any price. AND they delivered and on the SAME day too !! Jessie and his crew came out and even though it was not a huge job, they were thorough, professionally and did a fantastic job. They cleaned up the site, as if they had not even been there. They were just a great bunch of men. I will definitely be using them in the future.
Description of Work: My husband and I needed to have a huge Beech tree trimmed up on our property to get ready for some landscaping work that we are having done. We needed something quickly and inexpensive.

They dropped off a business card with my wife one day when they were in the area. From what I understand, they work out of Trinity (although their location says Thomasville on Angie's List, Yelp, etc.) and they have a crew that travels to other areas and tries to drum up business by going door to door. I called them and they arrived to start work. I explained to the lead guy, who told me that his boss wasn't with them that day, what I wanted done. In the front yard, I wanted the limbs on the two oaks that were touching my house to be removed completely. Also, I wanted them to take out some limbs here and there, in both trees, to allow more sunlight to reach the front lawn. I told them specifically that I DID NOT want them to "raise the canopy" of the trees, which, the way I understand it, means that they remove limbs on the bottom of the tree (low hanging limbs). I told them I wanted the tree "thinned out" evenly all the way up the tree...top to bottom. I thought I was clear and I thought they understood. About an hour into the job, the lead guy tells me that for them to trim the front trees up the way I wanted, it would be $720 instead of $620. At that point, what could I say? I agreed and they continued. About two hours later, the lead guy has me walk around back with him where he suggests that they remove some of the trees on the edge of the woods, instead of trimming them as I had requested (for an additional charge, of course!). I declined. I looked out the window and noticed one of the guys in my oak tree cutting down limbs and letting them fall directly on my bushed...over and over again. By the time I noticed this, there were limbs all over my bushes (you couldn't even tell I HAD any bushes under all the limbs). When I checked later, I saw that there were several limbs on my bushes that were broken. At the end of the day, they had done exactly what I asked them NOT to do...raised the canopy of the oaks in the front. They guy climbing the trees in the front yard used spikes on his boots/shoes which left the trunks of the trees very torn up. I checked today and I have a ton of bees (the kind that make their home in holes they find in trees I'm guessing) all over the holes from the spikes. My wife commented afterward that she thinks the yard looked better when the limbs were there, and I agree. These guys knew how to cut limbs off a tree, but they didn't know how to go about it without damaging bushes, leaving big holes (from spikes) in the trees, and they didn't seem to understand my goal for the oaks in front. They also asked that I pay them in CASH because the boss wasn't there that day. I would not recommend them.
Description of Work: They trimmed two medium sized oak trees in my front yard and a few small trees on the edge of the woods in my back yard.

Kris showed up at my doorstep with two of his crew looking for work in their beat up work truck - Leaked oil on my driveway. I wasn't interested in having any work done on that day, but he seemed pleasant. The price was ok considering what they agreed to do. However, after about 3 hours a work, Kris said they were done and he was looking for payment. All of the lawn bags were spread over two acres for me to pick up. I commented on this, but he didn't want to get them. One of his guys said he would get the 3 in the back, which he did. I also said I didn't want any of the bags tipped over on to the grass because of ticks, but about 5 of them were left that way. I let all of that slide because "it wasn't in the contract". I should have insisted. IMO, this basic finishing work is to be expected. Regarding the tree they took down, I asked for any of the good wood to be moved to the side of the property and the rotted wood to be put in the back of my truck. I moved the truck to the spot where they were cutting and a good amount of good wood got thrown into the back of the truck as well because they didn't want to move it. Much of the cleanup was not done either. I let this slide as well. The tipping point was when I noticed after they left, they did not finishing removing the second largest pile of needles at the front of the property. Most of the piles were very small. The reason I agreed to pay them to do this work is because I have a shoulder that needs surgery and I can't do it. I made this clear and thanked them several times for saving me that effort. I tried calling immediately after and got no response. When he did respond the next day, he tried to argue that there were 9 piles, not 8... This wasn't the case and I made it clear that pile needed to be picked up along with all of the others I pointed out. I said if there was a discrepancy, it wasn't his decision on what not to do. He was just making an excuse to bail when he was done what he felt like doing. Eventually he agreed to come back and get it. It rained the one day he said he would do it so he didn't come. He did communicate that. But then he was supposed to come yesterday, 6/8. I called twice and never received a call back. I called again today. At this point, I don't expect them to come back. I am going to take it up with the owner tomorrow and possibly the BBB. The fact is, a big part of what I was paying them for is still laying in the front yard and the work they did do was sloppy. The price would have been ok if the work was done as agreed and if it was thorough, but it was not.
Description of Work: Clean up 8 piles of pine needles I had collected (put them into bags I supplied - about 20) Remove one dead tree.

Smaller tree removed but not blocked down so when it fell, it landed on some tone steps cracking one of the stones. No repair was ever done. Larger tree removed but did not every return to remove the wood as promised. Also caused some damage to a neighbors tree when removing the larger tree. Bug spray was probably a rip off- Not trustworthy. Definitely would not recommend or use again.
Description of Work: We had a 2 trees removed and some spraying for ants in the tree.

Triad came to door offering to trim branches from tree for $200. I gave them a check to start work (my mistake). I looked out to see progress after about 20 minutes and saw no sign of them. They did not perform the service as described. Instead they trimmed a few small branches off of one tree. I called to discuss their work multiple time and never received a response.

I used Triad Tree Trimmers to take down a large tree and cut up one that had fallen. I used them because I was available that day and I knew they were in the area and could work that day. Their quote for all the work I wanted done was too high and we settled on doing a smaller amount of work which was still too high for what they actually did. They only did what they had, or wanted to do, leaving me with a mess to cleanup and finish. I pretty much paid them to get off my property. The workers only seemed interested in getting paid and moving on. The underestimated the size of the tree to fell and damage a neighbors tree even though the crew lead thought the climber should have done more. The owner, Neal, told me on the phone that he was a new hire. I'm not sure he even knows his employees. It was the same excuse on site. The crew lead even argued with me as to what type of tree he was cutting. They were unprofessional and unsafe in their practices. It was a huge mistake on my part letting them work but I was under pressure to have work done on this property and made a poor decision to use this company. Hopefully this review will keep other customers from making that mistake. I feel lucky they didn't damage any houses.

We recently had Triad Tree Trimmers fell several (10) trees on our large wooded lot. They did a great job! They were very careful to clearly enumerate all aspects of the job (location of trees to be removed, ground clearing of other areas of the property, removal of waste, etc). They delivered their services in a timely fashion and were prompt in returning calls. They worked hard while on the job. They were particularly skillful at felling a large pine that was located fairly close to our home. Overall we found Triad Tree Trimmers be a hard working group of individuals doing their best to provide the customer a good value for their money. We will use them again!
Description of Work: Removed 10 large trees, including 1 large pine located near home. Clear ground material off parts of lot. Removed dead tree from fence. Hauled away wood, waste, etc.
