Awesome experience. Bill Goff is a professional and a master at his craft. I first hired Blackfoot Landscaping in 1998 to landscape my first home and was extremely pleased with his work. During that first job he made recommendations on plantings, drainage, and irrigation and then he and his crew completed the work, surpassing my expectations. When it came time to do major landscaping on my current home, I called Blackfoot Landscaping again without hesitation, even though it had been over 12 years since they had done any work for me. Bill first came over to review the work that needed to be done and made recommendations on how best to proceed, while keeping in mind how we could minimize my costs. He and his crew first built stacked mortared stone walls using dark gray North Carolina thin veneer stone around two natural areas on a slope in the front yard. Total length of both stone walls is approximately 250 feet and the height is 15-16 inches on the front side, tapering down to about 8 inches on the back side. Next, they installed approximately 160 feet of steel edging around the beds next to the house and around the mailbox area. Blackfoot Landscaping's sub-contractor, Lake Norman Irrigation, then completed the other projects and coordinated with Bill Goff to complete the work in the proper sequence (see separate report in Angie's List on Lake Norman Irrigation for work completed on 10/07/2011). Joe and his assistant with Lake Norman Irrigation dug trenches; pulled up old, damaged french drain pipes which were connected to most of the downspouts; installed new, larger sch.40 slick pipe and attached it to the downspouts; removed an old low voltage landscape lighting system and replaced it with 12 commercial grade uplights and added a larger 600w transformer/control box; and installed an irrigation system in the front, left side, and right side yards, including an irrigation system digital control box. Joe went over the programming and operation of the irrigation system and the landscape lighting system when the work was complete and took the time to answer all of my questions. I also signed up to have them winterize my irrigation system in the late Fall and set it up/test in the early Spring. Blackfoot Landscaping then tilled my front yard, removing rocks, debris, weeds, and dead grass, and then sodded the front yard. The last item to be completed was aerating and seeding my entire yard. A few weeks after they were done with the work, I started having problems with the landscape lighting system not coming on automatically. The problem was with the the landscape lighting control box, specifically, the mechanical wheel that rotated inside the box to turn the switch on and off. Also, I wanted to move one of the landscape lights to balance out the lighting in one of the natural areas in the front yard but the wire was too short to move it to where I wanted it. I called Blackfoot Landscaping to discuss the issues and within a few days, they came out and replaced the control box with another one; it has worked great since then. At the same time, they added some additional wire to the light I wanted to move and placed it in the new location for me at no charge. Once again, Blackfoot Landscaping did an exceptional job. I plan to hire them again within the next year to recommend a plan for my back yard, to include a stone retaining wall, fire pit, walkway, and new deck.
