SYLVA LAWN & GARDEN EQUIPMENT

Sylva Lawn and Garden sold me a Snapper lawn mower in May 2013 which I instantly started having problems with. At first it was minor problems: 1) Cable tensioner kept loosening so rear drive would not engage fully, (first 1/4 acre) 2) Key start stopped working after two uses. (loose connection inside wire harness) 3) Snap on wheel covers kept falling off. (kind of comical really) 4) Water hose attachment for deck clean out broke of while attaching the garden hose (first time) Later the problems got much worse: 1) Plastic plate on front that says Snapper on it feel off and I ran over it. 2) Screws came out of the cover on top of the mower and would have fallen off if it were not for the starter cord holding it in place. 3) Then the mower would just bog down while cutting and would be hard to start back. I contacted the owner by telephone and he said "all you can do is bring it in and let us look at it". I took it in the very next day and the owner was not there so an employee tagged it for repair which by their estimate would take 2 weeks. I stopped by after one week to see if by chance the owner had looked at the mower yet. He said he had not but would soon and he would contact me the first part of next week. Two weeks later I called and the owners father answered the phone. -I ask, Is Darin (owner) there? -He is but hes outside with a customer. -I just called to see if he found out anything about my mower yet. -I will check........Yeah we did......pause.....Did you hear me..? -Yes,, so what was it? -Crank shaft is bent! thats why everything is falling off of it! You had to hit something! Its bent bad! -No I don't think so. I mowed the same yard that I've been mowing for the past 10 years with the same old Lawn Boy. -Well you hit somethin because they don't send them out like that. -I didn't hit anything. -Well it sure didn't leave here like that. Well after this exchange I felt as if I had been scolded by my father for breaking his lawn mower. I ask my son if he remembered hitting anything and he said yes and showed me a 4 inch diameter stump. I told him not to worry because I have hit the same stump a few times before with the lawn boy. Point is, I am sure a quality mower would not have been knocked out of service by a 4 inch rotten stump. I think that Sylva Lawn and Garden assumed that I was trying to get over on them by making a false warranty claim.? I had hoped and expected they would think more of me than that because I have known them and done a lot of business with them for a while now. Besides no one deserves to be treated this way Buddy. Warranty or not I wanted the mower fixed and would have payed for it but that was never even discussed. Lowes is right across the street with the same equipment and they will stand behind what they sale. I will never darken their doors again.

Always met or exceeded delivery dates promised. Buddy and Darin are very honest and dependable
