It's difficult to review Gutterworks because he's such a nice and professional guy. But, he made a major mistake. His product simply is not what I expected and he should have warned us about the and quot;lack of qualityand quot; issue or simply told us we'd end up with striped gutters. He replaced all gutters and downspouts and knew our house would be painted afterward. He made himself available inbetween gigs of the roofer, who put beautiful architectural shingles on and the painter. Between that and the weather, it was not the best position in which to be but Mike did the work and nothing was held up. So, he's great but ... He did not tell us the cover for the white gutters (to prevent leaves and debris from going in), while not viewable from the street and quot;leakand quot; black against the white gutters. We spoke on the phone (or via voicemail) and he can't do anything about it. It's the way his product is. That makes it an inferior product that I wouldn't recommend. In my last voicemail to him I said if I knew we'd have black-striped white gutters, we wouldn't have had him do the work. I was and still am angry about this and am putting together a letter with pictures to show him how ghastly our gutters look. I want the gutters replaced and know we may have to use a different product and may need a different company. We take pride in our house and I'm embarrassed about this and somehow it will be. I've been delinquent getting photos to him and that's on me - my camera died and I just got a replacement and I've been extraordinarily busy. But, after watching the black stripes darken over time, I did place a phone call to him as I said. If we're able to work out something amicably, I'll update this review. I also feel bad dinging him like this but I've written the truth as I heard (on voicemail) and see it. I wish I could post photos here. I can only review what we have. Everyone will have to obviously come to their own conclusion about using Mike or not. * * * * When Mike got the photos, he immediately called me. He had no idea the black stripes were as bad as I said. I thought I said the lines appeared where the nails (screws) were. He came over within a couple of days of seeing the photos and replaced the gutter guards with a product he put on our neighbor's house. I saw the markings that occurred over the last year and it was not close to as bad as what we had. He also volunteered to pay for the pictures and the return-receipt postage (cute and nice but I didn't need that). Mike came prepared to replace the guards and clean the stripes. It now looks smashing. He also said to call him if the gutters look bad again and he'll take care of it without charge. That's the disconnect between quality and professional Mike and the poor quality product he used. He will also contact the company to find out what's going on with the screws. Now, if only we could find a handyman as good as Mike ... It can't be from Angieslist... (I am the partner of the owner of the access to Angie's List.)

Mike was recommended to me by another contractor who came over to check on his job during a heavy downpour. He saw that we needed additional gutters and gave me Mike's phone number. Mike responded immediately, came over and gave a very reasonable written estimate and took care of it about a week later at the estimated amount that he had given. He was always punctual and professional and was very generous in giving information about any other problem areas that he became aware of.

Michael was the third person we had gotten an estimate from to replace our aging gutter system in Asheville. We immediately appreciated his straight forward approach and his ability to communicate clearly what we were going to get from him. He did not try to sell us more than we needed. From that initial meeting and estimate there was no more decision to be made: Gutter Works was our choice. The new gutters look great. He used a level to make sure the water flows out properly and recommended larger downspouts to contain the water when it rains hard. His price was the lowest of the 3 estimates and his workmanship was impeccable.

I got three estimates which varied widely. Michael's Gutterworks estimate was the middle one but I was so impressed with his attention to detail, I chose them. The work was done quickly and beautifully. Great choice.
