We were put in contact with this company through our home warranty. They did not contact us to schedule service, we had to repeatedly call them. Once we finally did get a date scheduled for service, no one showed up and didn't call to say they weren't coming. When I called back about this they did send someone out who did diagnose the problem and submitted the info to the home warranty company and we did get the new appliance, but no one ever came out to install it, despite telling us they would come on a certain day, and again, no call to say they weren't coming and no followup call at all. I can't imagine how this company stays in business.

Whenever we called, we got a machine that sounded like someone's cell phone. When he came, he took an hour to diagnose the problem (another company later diagnosed it in 15 minutes), having to call someone else to consult with. When he finally figured it out, he said he needed a part and would order it and get back to me in TEN days. He charged me $85.00 for his time. We waited 2 weeks and he still didn't call, so we called them. He called us back within a couple days, said he had the part and set up a window of time to show. He never showed. We called Able at least three times over a span of a couple more weeks and they never called us back. Don't waste your time and money on this company. We reported them to the better business bureau, and two months later we STILL have heard nothing. Go with Danny's Appliance instead....see review....he was timely, punctual, came within a half hour of my call, and had a fixed the next day.
Description of Work: Our panel for our ice/water dispenser was broken and needed fixing...water and ice constantly running.

It didn't "go" at all ! The promise to call was never fulfilled, despite repeated telephone messages left on both of the company's listed telephone numbers....
Description of Work: I called 11/29/12 to make an appointment to replace the water filter and repair the ice maker of my KitchenAid refrigerator. I was told the repairman would call me the following day between 8AM and 9AM to come out that day and complete the repairs. No one called back during that time. Three more calls were made by me later that day and the following week, and I again left messages to call my home or cell phone. My calls were never returned. The company is apparently no longer in business - or shouldn't be!

I am the landlord of a condo in Asheville and called Able Appliance to repair a refrigerator that was not keeping things cool. Items were thawing and the tenant of the condo which I manage was becoming quite frustrated. As I am not on-site, I specifically asked the Able to keep me informed of any assessment as to the issues with the refrigerator and to evaluate whether it needed to be replaced. After 4 visits and the replacement of a defroster unit and (2) control boards, the unit still failed to keep things cool so I gave up and replaced the refrigerator. Aside the fact that they were uanble to properly diagnose/repair the problem, I am annoyed that, despite promises from the company that the Technician would call the tenant to arrange for the visits and call me with an assessment of the possible need to replace the unit and promises to call the tenant, I never received calls and had to intervene to schedule the repair appointments and find out what what was going on. 4 visits, no calls and a broken refrigerator. "UN-Able" is the appropriate name for this Appliance Service.
Description of Work: I called Able Appliance to repair a refrigerator that failed to keep the items inside cool. Able replaced a defroster unit, and then the Defroster Control Board (twice). The replacement of these parts did not resolve the issue . The Service Technicians never called me , as promised, to let me know their assessment of the issue.

Washer was in warrenty, they were to come back & put in a part. Never heard from them. Had to call to see where the part was. They told me that the service call was completed. I told them what their serviceman told me, that the washer needed a new panel. Able told me that I would have to speak to their employee. Called Lowes and they said that since the washer was out of warrenty that I would have to pay for the part and service call. Able Appliance NEVER called maytag to get the part. Now I'm stuck with a washer that is not working right.
Description of Work: repair a Maytag washer that would not wash only spin.

Very well. Somone was available to take my call in the morning and I was told a technician would call me back and let me know his schedule. I let them know how worried I was about all my food going to waste. The technician called within a couple of hours and then came out promptly. He determined the part that needed to be replaced that controls the cooling and left my home to purchase it. When he returned he had my freezer and refrigerator unit working within the hour. He was very pleasant and I felt charged me fairly. I would use this company again. Thank heavens someone responds to emergency calls like this!
Description of Work: Our freezer and refrigerator unit stopped cooling. I called a couple of the "A" rated companies early in the morning and they either never returned the call or called very late. I actually called Able as a second choice and was very pleased. Someone answered the call and passed my message on to the technician who called me within a couple of hours. Once he called he came out immediately and determined the part that needed to be replaced and had my unit working within the hour. I felt his pricing was very reasonable and would definitely use them again. They are an "A" rating in my book!!

Able Appliance Services LLC was so horrible that it was shocking to me. I ended up spending nothing with them because they didn?t repair the dehumidifier. They initially told me that it will take a week?s time. When I called in after a week, they told me that it will take another week. This kept going on for two months, maybe more. After a while they told me that they were unable to fix it. I finally had to call the company that I bought the dehumidifier from and they ended up sending me a replacement. Able Appliance service was just totally irresponsive. If I hadn?t hounded them they probably wouldn?t even get back to tell me that they can?t fix it. They were totally unhelpful. It was a waste of my time, my waiting and a waste of being patient. They kept giving me excuses for not being able to fix the dehumidifier. Everything in my basement was turning moby. It was awful. All they had to do was just to be upfront with me.
Description of Work: I took my dehumidifier to Able Appliance Services LLC for repair probably less than a year ago.

Able Appliance was highly recommended by my parents and their neighbor, so I dialed Able with confidence to fix my freezer's frozen-over sensor and defunct door dispenser. It took two phone calls over three days to have someone acknowledge my calls. Then, although the phone assistant took all pertinent information, I had to contact Able again after two more days about the repairman's status. I was give the repairman's direct number to find out for myself, which was an unusual position. After playing phone tag for a couple more days, the repairman finally presented himself the following week by blocking a shared driveway to my neighbors' houses and reeking of cigarette smoke. He inspected the freezer, made a diagnosis and parts list, then told me he'd have an estimate the next day, since he didn't know the prices of the parts off hand. Fair enough, but didn't he have an able office assistant he could call on the spot? Two more days passed, and once again I had to call him! He gave me the high-ball estimate of $300-$350. He then proceeded to tell me that I would be much better off with a $600 (+ installation fees) refurbished refrigerator from their warehouse that offers a 60-day warranty. When did he become an appliance salesman? I told him the repairs needed to be done and that I wasn't interested in a refurbished refrigerator. He said he'd order the parts and would call me when they arrive. He'd give me a call? Yeah right! Needless to say, I never heard from Able Appliance again, and they won't be hearing from me either.

We had called two highly rated listed appliance repair shops about our Sub-Zero refrigerator's loss of cooling capacity, but were told that they don't do that brand or wouldn't come because of the distance. We then called Able Appliance and were assigned to Don. He called back in about an hour, got the serial number and date, did the diagnosis on the phone, then quoted the labor at $250 and the part for free as it was under warranty and would be in in 2-3 days. We set the appointment for then, and Don showed up on the dot. He went right to work, did the repair, tested out the new installation, and was clean and neat the entire time. You could tell that he was careful and not rushing. He took 3 hrs to do the job absolutely right and the bill was $250. The refrigerator is running super and it was a joy to have such a professional job in every way.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and repaired condenser on Sub-Zero refrigerator.

The service person was very professional and knowledgeable. He showed up when he said he would and he kept me informed on what he was doing. It took about 30 minutes and he had to come back the next day.

We discovered a gas leak in our range in March. Called Able Appliance, they sent a person out. Initially he thought that the regulator needed to be replaced. Ordered the part, came back and installed it. That didn't fix the problem. Called him back out several times. Each time, he thought he had fixed it, but the leak was still there. I finally just gave up on them, it was obvious that they were unable to actually fix the problem.
Description of Work: Gas leak in range. Replaced a part, but was unable to repair even after several visits.

Terrible! Never started and never finished. Very poor response.
Description of Work: My Bosch Dishwasher was listed as a recal for a replacement part. Able was listed as an authorized repair shop, so I called them. The serviceman came in about 3 days to replace the part. He announced that the part he received was the wrong part, so he would have to order a replacement and would return when it was available. After two weeks I called to see if it came in. I got no answer but left a recorded message. They called in about two days to tell me the part had been misplaced, but they would get back to me shortly. Three weeks later I called again and talked with the service man. He told me that they lost the part but would get another and call me when it came in. That was six weeks ago and I heard nothing. I went to another repair source.

Rushing to get dinner on the table, I threw open the freezer and had a sinking feeling when I noticed that the automatic ice maker had absolutely no ice in it. Next, I poked the "frozen" turkey breast and found that it was beyond defrosted. It was actually warm. I phoned a repairman who had been highly recommended and got an answering machine. I left a message at 6PM on a Thursday evening. By 8:30 AM the next day, I took out the phone book and just took a chance. Happily, I was not disappointed. First off, a real person answered and took down pertinant information. Within an hour Don Young, the repairman/ owner was standing in my kitchen with his toolbox in hand. He was cheerful, courteous and very professional. In short order, he figured out that the compressor relay switch needed to be replaced. He went down to his truck for the part, did the job, and was done in less than an hour. Don even took the time to show me how to pull off the cover to clean my refrigerator coils. The repair work has a 30 day guarantee, the parts have 90 days. I would definitely call Able Appliance first the next time that I need an appliance serviced.
Description of Work: My Kitchenaid refrigerator-freezer stopped cooling. Don Young, from Able Appliance, replaced my compressor relay switch. That was all that was needed to have the refrigerator start back to work. He was punctual and did a great job!
