I had two gas-log fireplaces serviced. One pilot was left with a high, yellow flame. I thought this was going to be replaced because they replaced my other fireplace with a much better pilot. When I complained about this high, yellow flame, I was told "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." This surprised me because when I first called for service I was told that the pilots should be a low, blue flame, and a high, yellow flame was a sign of improper combustion. I am disappointed in this final outcome.

Found High Country Fireplaces on Angies List after another local company I had called and scheduled to do the work never called back. The owner Eric responded to my email within a day. He then happened to call on Saturday to say they were ahead of schedule and in the area if I would prefer to get it done sooner than we had planned. This turned out to fit my schedule and they showed up within half an hour as promised. The were clean, respectful, and efficient. The owner actually showed up and even recommended how to care for the stone surrounding my fireplace. They also went over how to care for the unit, start it, etc. I wish this guy did other stuff because I would hire him in a minute. We will be hiring him to do other work in the future as we progress on renovating. Seriously have been dealing with contractors the last two years and have come across some major flakes. You get a feel for who knows what they are doing and who is lying. This guy is the real deal.

I want to retract my earlier 2012 review and replace it with this review. When I earlier could not obtain a call-back from High-Country, I hired another contractor that was recommended by my propane company. I paid them $225 and their repair lasted 3 hours. They did not recognize that natural gas regulators were installed in fireplaces intended for propane! I received a recommendation to use High Country from another propane company, so I called again. I waited two weeks, but High Country did return my call. We set up an appointment, for which they arrived on time, were very knowledgeable and professional, determined the problems right away, ordered the parts, and returned the next week to complete the job. Very well done! Both fireplaces are now working beautifully.

I had a fireplace with gas firelogs. Did not know the condition or age; whether they were vented or ventless. Eric Jeffcoat seemed to be quite knowledgable. He gave me the information I wanted; estimated costs of updating, age and condition of current log set. He suggested various options. Ventless seems to be the way to go if you want to use the gas logs for heating. I had called High Country earlier in the week and they came later in the same week. They were a bit late arriving, because of an Interstate traffic jam, but the company kept me appraised of the delay. I was well satisfied with the company and would not hesitate to call again.

I spent 20 hours doing research. Then I drove to Charlotte to see the fireplaces. High Country Fireplaces Inc. was recommended by someone else. The guy came to my house and showed me several different kinds. I ended up getting one that was even more expensive than the one I didn't want to pay that much for. It's the most fantastic thing I have in this house. The guy came out three or four times to build the fireplace. It didn't come out the way I liked it. He had it redone and it was about $5500. This is the fourth fireplace that I have had in this place in 15 years. I have had to replace it four times. There is no smell. It's propane because we don't have natural gas. It's absolutely fantastic. The service was great. The man always got back to me. Eric Jeffcoat is the owner and the manager. They have all types of fireplaces like electric, propane, gas and everything. The guy came to my house with all the displays. I can't say enough nice things about him. He was very nice and very low-key. He was wonderful. I would recommend him. Everybody loves this fireplace.
