Island Creek Landscape

It was a struggle. Daniel and Josh were professional and responsive but the team doing the actual work was not highly skilled and had low quality standards. Some initial design concepts about the landing and wall in front of the shop were a problem to which we contributed due to misunderstandings about the design. We worked through this and the results are nice. Other problems were not shared. For example, uneven stones, uncentered steps, poorly built walls, and two different heights on the same wall. These are basics that my husband had to point out each day. The team did the absolute minimum on the job. The results are just okay. We accepted a lot of things that are less than optimum just to get the basics corrected. At the end of the job, they started loading up and were going to take a couple of yards of mulch rather than spreading it on the rest of the bank next to where the work was completed. We paid $620 for 10 yards of mulch. Based on prices for mulch from Markam's that mean we paid around $300 for labor. I did insist they leave the mulch, and now I will pay someone else to finish the job even though I already paid for the labor. If I hadn't been watching I would have been out the mulch as well as the labor. That sums up the experience with this team. On the positive side, I appreciated Daniel's handling of damage to the drain on the new building. He paid for the repairs ($120) and was gracious about it. UPDATE: Daniel contacted us after this review was published. He apologized about the mulch experience and sent someone out to finish spreading it. We reviewed the original contract and Daniel refunded $163 for work that was not done. The best action was to send out a skilled team to correct several of the problems including centering the steps, installing the stepping stones which had just been laid on top of the ground, and correcting two steps that had been poorly installed. I wish we had had this team as the original installers, it would have been a different experience. My lesson is to ask about the specific team that will be completing my projects: what are their skill and experience levels? what did reviews say about their work? What matters is who is actually doing the work not just the company. I have changed my overall rating from a "C" to a "B" based on Daniel's responsiveness.

Mr. Griffin had returned to check on drainage work that his company did in my yard. I had noticed that there was a problem with the drainage and contacted him. He responded quickly and rectified the problem. They had spread grass seed and I had difficulty getting it to germinate. He had his crew come back and put down sod over the bare areas. It's not every service provider that will completely back up his work and make it right when there is a problem. This is a quality company! I would recommend them to anyone.

I contacted Daniel Griffin for an estimate to get my backyard landscaped, planting , designing patio/retaining wall, et.c I asked him how late we could set up an appt. He said he worked 9-5. So my husband and i took off work March 28th off to accommodate his schedule. He showed up and said he would email an estimate the next day. On April 3rd I contacted him to remind him about the estimate he did not send. He said he would send it that day, or the next day . Which of course, he did not. He did not call, email, text, nothing. Daniel Griffin our time is just as valuable as yours. Don't waste customers time and please don't bother with the usual, " I emailed it , check your junk box" line...

Island Creek Landscape was amazing! They had the work done in less time than we imagined and had to work in some bad weather conditions. The patio and firepit look amazing and we couldn't be happier. The team even went above and beyond my moving dirt into areas of our yard that needed some work - they also fixed our fence gate during the install. The cleanup was immaculate and we were ready to use the patio when they finished on a Friday. I've already started recommending Island Creek to my friends!

This was a tough job as the red clay under the sidewalk was very difficult to dig through. The crew fianally had to saw through the concrete in order to lay the pipes. It was a messy job as the rain and wet soil conditions caused a very muddy area on the sidewalk and street. The crew worked very h****** this job and it looks great Pop up drain heads were installed at the end of the pipes to disperse the water run off. The crew did an excellent also cleaning up the work area atet the pipes were installed

It went very well. The process took about 9 days of work. We had horrible weather before and during the job so it made it very muddy to work. Daniel and his crew were very professional and worked very hard to keep within a reasonable time-frame. The estimate was the amount we paid and we thought it was very reasonable for the amount of work that was done. We would definitely hire Daniel again. He really knows his stuff. We also have given out his contact info to friends as we would highly recommend him.

Things went very well with Island Creek. The technicians were professional, couteous and prompt. The company also had a very prompt response to my call. They are very knowledgable and very professional.

I cannot say enough great things about Island Creek Landscaping! Every person I interacted with was pleasant, professional, courteous and productive. I worked mostly with Daniel. He came out and heard our thoughts and wants then worked up a quote with all of our specifics. We received the quote within 24 hours and it was all-inclusive and easy to understand. Daniel was very good at listening to what we wanted and giving us a plan that worked for us. I was very happy that he was not insisting on a square patio because it would be easier...he listened to us and created a S shape that would be much more pleasing to the eye and perfect for our yard. We did our due research and Daniel's quote was very reasonable and competitive. I liked that he was not a nickel and dimer, his quote was all-inclusive...it included the removal of all materials, re-seeding, the labor of the work, all the materials, moving the sprinkler system, removing and replacing fence panels, etc. It may seem like silly stuff but I had another company charge for each of those items separately and the quote was MUCH higher because of it. I was able to get in touch with Daniel several times to discuss details and he was patient and professional each time. He even drew up a sketch so I could send it to my HOA for approval. Construction got underway on-time, January 6th...despite weather being iffy and extremely cold temperatures. Fernando, the site supervisor, was always available for questions and even came out on a Sunday to remove plastic so the site could dry for Monday's work. Daniel came by several times to ensure things were going well and present stone options. The entire project took 8 days to complete (including a few rainy days)...astounding!!! They were quick, clean, professional, courteous, and productive. My 2 year old son LOVED watching them work through the back window and I was very happy to let him enjoy the CAT. They never used profanity, did not play loud music and were polite every time we interacted. We also worked with Josh towards the end of the project and he was just as polite and flexible as the rest of the crew. All in all, very wonderful company to work with. We are so thrilled with our new patio! We have already used the fire pit three times in a weekend! We love, love, love every bit of it! Our neighbors are very jealous, it looks so beautiful. I have already recommended Island Creek Landscaping to several good friends and family members for their projects.

Daniel's expertise was clearly demonstrated through conversation and the completion of the project. His professionalism was impressive - he anticipated our needs and exceeded expectation. We were told that it would take about 4-6 weeks to work us into his schedule, but it was well worth the wait. He also originally told us that it would likely take a few days for completion, but he and his team finished in one day! And they didn't cut any corners - high quality workmanship. They treated the property as though it were their own. We will certainly be partnering with him this spring for additional landscaping projects.

Everything was done as promised in a timely manor. They kept the area clean and neat. Did a great job at communicating what they were doing and listened to any ideas we had. We would definitely use their services again. They also did uplighting on a series of trees in our back yard that looks beautiful at night.

If you're considering using Island Creek for your project, do it. Best decision I've made as a homeowner. We've had an endless stream of neighbors stopping by our house to tell us how amazing the new patio and landscaping look. Daniel made the process easy for us. We had a vague idea of what we wanted so Daniel came to our home and spent as much time as we needed listening to our thoughts and bouncing ideas off of us. He is also educated on horticulture and expertly advised us on the placement of plantings. For example, we requested a planting that required full sun (who knew?!?) in a shaded area. Daniel was able to suggest a similar option that would thrive in the shaded area. He came back with an extremely reasonable quote that perfectly captured what we had discussed and we decided to move forward. He soon provided us with a design that illustrated his plan and, upon approval, his team began their work. Ryan and his crew worked on our project everyday for a week and a half and their skill and knowledge of their work amazed us. No detail too small, no step skipped - these guys were incredibly professional and great at what they did. They also did an excellent job of communicating the work they had planned for that day and timeframes for the overall project (and they hit their timeframes in every instance). Can't say enough about these guys. Two other things really stood out to me; first, they were eager for us to be happy with the project. They patiently walked us through the decision-making process for stones, walls and plantings. They had pictures of the options as well as examples so we were 100% sure we knew what our options looked like. Second, they are flexible. We had some specific thoughts on the shape of the beds, the width of the path and the placement of a few of the plants. They happily took the time to listen to our thoughts and incorporate them into the design. We even asked that an additional tree be added on their next to last day at our house and they were able to quickly make it happen. I can't recommend Island Creek enough - they have the experience, skill and knowledge you're looking for on your project. So as I said in the first line...do it! You'll be thrilled with the result.

Island Creek Landscape came and did the job. They were clean and they got it done as quick as possible. I did have some issues with the tree and they came the next day and replaced them without any questions asked. They stand-by their warranty.

FANTASTIC! I have worked with a lot of contractors and subcontractors over the years and my experience with Daniel and his crew is at the top of my list. Very professional in every way. The crew always arrived on time and when they were done for the day they left everything in an orderly manner. Daniel was always prompt in responding to any questions or concerns I had. He was extremely successful in translating my initial vision into a beautiful reality. Neighbors are already asking for his number. I plan on using them again.

The guys were great. The service was great. They came when they said they would. They cleaned up well. It is working extremely well.

We arranged for Island Creek to come to our home and provide us with an estimate for installing a patio and doing landscaping along our fence. The gentleman arrived exactly when he said he would, was very courteous, and answered all our questions. We ended up going with a different company who provided us with a free detailed drawing of their plan, which Island Creek said they would do for a small fee, which they would then reimburse if we decided to hire them. Their quote did include a rough estimate of how many plantings they would use, and based on this we decided they were a little pricier overall than the company we ultimately hired. However, based on their customer service, I would have hired them. A pleasant exchange.

Everything was handled very professionally from the estimate to the end result. There was a little shortage in the amount of sod originally provided with the installation. They brought the additional sod the very next day and installed it. We watered as they advised and the lawn is now the most beautiful in the neighborhood.

Daniel was great to deal with. He would answer my emails promptly and explained things very well. His crew members were great, too, and even took time to play with our dog and entertain my 4 year old with their soccer skills (he loved it!). The beds and gravel pathway turned out awesome. His company is very polite and professional. I tried dealing with a handful of others before hiring Island Creek and they were horrible (I don't understand how they can stay in business). The job was started and completed in the timeframe given to me. I paid what I was quoted. I will look to Island Creek for all future projects.

They were wonderful to work with! We had a deadline and they were able to accommodate us even though we did not give them much notice. The guys did a beautiful job and even helped me with some other landscape questions and planted a few more bushes for us. We have recommended to friends!

Estimate was very thorough and professional. Competitor was cheaper, so we did not use Island Creek.

It was an excellent experience. We have used them several times and have never had any problems with them.

The crew showed up on time and worked very efficiently each day for a week. It was a large project, and it went exactly as planned. I was amazed at how fast it came together. They had a plan and followed it to the tee.

We are extremely happy with the whole process from Daniel coming up with a plan, working with us on adjustments to the plan and the final results. He listened to the goals we were trying to achieve and it turned out better than we had imagined.
