It was too expensive for what he did. He didn’t have to do much work at all.

We had a clogged toilet issue at the church and when I called, the owner said he could definitely get the job done. He made it clear, however that the check should not be written to the company but to him personally. This is where I should have called someone else! Red flag #1 When he arrived, I had already pulled the toilet and had snaked the line about 40 ft to no avail so he brought in his big snake machine which did the job just fine. The supply line had broken off at the wall so he was going to repair that too. I suggested that a glued fitting would suffice but he insisted that a quick-connect fitting would work better. I agreed and he tried to attach the old supply valve back onto the broken pipe but couldn't get a proper grip on it to apply enough pressure to push the fitting in place. So he said he needed to cut a hole in the wall. After cutting the wall, he pushed the connector on just fine. I would have been fine with the job had it not been for leaving the floor in a mess to which he replied "we cleaned it up the best we could". Then I had to leave to get my son from school and when I got back, they had reset the toilet and everything was working fine. THEN came the BILL!!! $625!! snaking the line and reseting the toilet was $298 of it....that part I was fine with. but cutting a small hole in the wall and applying a $2 fitting somehow ended up being $268!!! He didn't even bother replacing the valve (which still leaks BTW) just shoved the old one back on. Top this off with a $59 service fee (again, I am fine with this). My issue was the OUTRAGEOUS charge for fixing the supply line. I called him and questioned him about the charge after he left and he stated that he could fully justify the charges based on his business model of pricing out of a contractor's book. He stated that cutting a hole in the wall amounted to $119 of the $268 charge. So, apparently the connector was worth $149. Bottom line is...this guy was just a bit too shady for my taste. I shouldn't have to haggle for fair pricing. The better business practice would be to give honest pricing and service up front. I would have just charged for the cost of the connector and lumped the 5 minutes that it took to install it under the service call fee. After seeing MULTIPLE negative reviews on here and other places, I should have done my research on this guy BEFORE I allowed him in to fix the problem. He will NOT be getting my business again. Affordable Plumbing is an oxymoron in this case!

They were an hour late arriving. They looked over the toilets and sinks and assessed for problems. They did replace a flapper on one of the toilets for free(as advertised), adjusted the temp of my water heater for me but then quoted a very high price as an estimate on a repair to a toilet. I decided to do it myself as the part only cost $10 at Walmart.

Eddy answered the phone even though I called late Saturday night in complete distress. I had family over for a graduation party and the bathtub lever broke with the lever not turning the water off. When I was told about the broken lever, the water had been running for only God knows how long. I turned to water off to the house and got into contact with Eddy. Out of the numerous plumbers I contacted that said they had emergency services, only Eddy answered the call. Eddy arrived as promised and gave me a high and low estimate depending on what work had to be accomplished. Eddy promised to try to do everything within his power to get the low estimate, but made sure I knew the price could reach the highest price threshold if I decided to continue. Eddy did agree to look at the issue and to put everything back as it was if I didn't agree with the price. Eddy was able to complete the job in record time for the lower estimate and even fixed the sink lever which I hadn't asked about. I appreciate all that Eddy did because no one in the house has plumbing knowledge and the water bill was going up by the second. I am absolutely in love with Eddy and the fact that he kept his word and came to fix our plumbing issues. I will definitely be using Eddy as my go to plumber in the future. Thank you so much again because I have 4 kids, a husband, and a dog and with company our house was full of people who needed access to our water.

I called Affordable Plumbing and spoke with Eddie to install a new sewer connection between my home and the county sewer system.. He seems like a nice person. We set up an appointment to meet at my house between 3 and 4 pm. I informed him I would take leave from work and be at home at about 3:30 and call my cell of which he agreed. I took my leave, went home and never heard from him again. I lost my confidence in Affordable Plumbing.

I called and they were out the next day. I needed to delay the appointment by half an hour and they were great to accomodate me. They were professional, on time and tidy. The charges were much less than charged by others in the past. I would recommend them as they are now my 'go to' plumbers!

I called Affordable Plumbing to fix a leaking faucet on the exterior of the home. The plumber was supposed to be here between 1000 and 1100 on Friday. At 1105, I called Eddie (the company owner) and left a message asking for an update. He called me back at 1150 and said his guy was 30 minutes away (an hour and a half late). I told him I had to head to work at 1 PM and he told me his guy would be at my house by 1220. At 1220 he called me and said his guy had a flat tire and we would have to reschedule. This afternoon I called back at 3 pm and asked if they could come this afternoon since I had just arrived back home. He said no problem but it would be after 430. It is now 8 pm and dark outside....no one showed up. I called Eddie at 830pm and he said they were still on another job and would have to reschedule. I setup the appointment for 10am Saturday. At 1025, Eddie called and said his guy was enroute from a location an hour away. So that would put him over an hour and a half late from the scheduled appointment. This was the last straw and so I cancelled the appointment. UPDATE: Eddie called me to apoligize and sent out his tech this evening. The repair took all of 15 minutes and the problem has been solved. Plumber was knowledgable and did a great job.

We had the great good fortune of meeting William Whittington with Affordable Plumbing this morning, and he restored our faith in subcontractors! Punctual, meticulous, fast, unobtrusive .. he was fantastic and we can't praise him and the services he performed enough. We will never have to worry about calling another plumbing company in the future because on a scale of 1 to 10, William is a 12. Such a pleasure doing business with a pro, and we will highly recommend him to all our friends and family.

After returning to Fort Bragg from Germany I desperately needed a plumber to raise my water heater. Affordable Plumbing came out and agreed to do the work the same day. I knew that the price Mike quoted was too high, $550. I accepted because I was desperate I need hot water to out of the hotel. He wanted to add an additional $59 service fee but dropped it when I resisted. He left to get supplies and I left him to get on with the work. After he completed everything he went through how to adjust the temperature, but of course the water was not hot. Then he informed me that the gate valve was bad and "if the is a leak you will not be able to turn off the hot water so I will need to replace it" (Lets ignore the fact that it was fine Sep 12 when it was last on.) I asked, now? " Not now, but if there is a problem you won't be able to turn the water off" Then he tells me that the business is going through some kind of changes so could I write the check in the owners name instead of the business. Unusual but sure. Move in day, turn on the hot water and only get a trickle, and not even a trickle if another hot water source is turned on. Called Mike and he tells me that some gate must have broken off and fallen down and is blocking the flow he cane come out and fix it, but he will have to call the boss because it might be a $59 service charge to come back. I request that he have the boss call me. The boss, Eddie, calls and tells me that Mike told me it was broken so he can't come back out for free. Lets just say the rest of the discussion went down hill from there. No profanity or name calling but no friendships or agreeing to disagree either. In the end I had to call someone else to replace the valve cost $30 Mike was friendly, agreeable and courteous but I would not use or recommend them. Wilda

I called at night to leave a message but Eddie answered and the problem was discussed. We made arrangements for him to come the next day between 11:00 and 11:30. He called the next day before 11:00 and told me he would be delayed awhile. He came that afternoon and identified where the sewage line joined with city and attempted to clean. Roots had grown in the pipe so he needed to bring bigger machine to cut through the roots. Next day all lines were cleared and recommended a root chemical that would keep problem from occuring. They were very polite, professional, and informative through the whole process. I am happy to use my bathroom facilities again. Thank you Eddie!

I had purchased new faucets and needed them installed. My son couldn't do it because it involved cutting copper pipe. Affordable Plumbing gives you your cost up front. They wear coverings on their shoes when coming in your house. The work was done quickly and efficiently, and the workers are polite. When the compression valve under the bathroom sink blew, even though it was out of warranty, they came back and repaired it for free. Eddie and his crew have done other jobs for me, and I would recommend them to anyone. The cost may seem high, but you know up front what it will be. You get what you pay for.

We were very impressed with Affordable Plumbing all the way from the person on the telephone who explained everything to us on the phone BEFORE a plumber came out and to the professional plumber who came to our home. The plumber actually came out the same day we had scheduled him to come which we found was unusual with other plumbers we had in the PAST!. The person on the phone was very informative and asked questions to find out the problems we were having so they could inform the plumber and he would be prepared with the right parts so he would not have to make any extra trips. Affordable Plumbing's office even gave us a courtesy call to inform us that the plumber scheduled to come to our home was running about 45 minutes late and apologized. Other plumbers we had come to our home in the past to fix something did NOT call to let us know if the day or time changed that we had scheduled with them -- we had to call these other plumbers to see when they were coming as they did not come when they said they would and they did not call to say they were running late and some didn't even make it on the day they said they would come or did not even bother call to let us know they could not make it!!!!. So anyone can see why that meant a lot to us and why we were impressed right off the bat with Affordable Plumbing. We were very impressed when the Affordable Plumber came to our home. We had never seen any other of the plumbers in the past wear shoe coverings over their shoes -- we were impressed that he looked at everything we needed repaired, discussed & explained all involved with us. When we agreed with the prices & work we wanted done, he wrote out the work & parts involved, we checked the form & put our initials on the invoice and then he did the work so there was no guesswork involved. We knew what the cost would be BEFORE he even started and we were very satisfied with the price. There were no surprises! Since we had explained ahead of time what the problems were with the person on the phone, the plumber was prepared and had the parts on his truck which was also impressive. He did NOT take a SUPER long time to do the work and they also explained in the first phone call that they do NOT charge by the hour but only a initial service charge which we had no problem with. The professional plumber from Affordable Plumbing was very neat & very professional as well as very timely, very helpful, & very personable & honest. He even attached a water filter we had purchased to put on our kitchen faucet but were having problems getting it to stay on the faucet and he did not charge us for attaching it so it would stay on. We will definitely use Affordable Plumbers in the future when needed for any plumbing issue. Everything he fixed is still working wonderfully and there is a year's guarantee on all the work he did. It is nice to know there is a dependable & honest & professional plumbing company, Affordable Plumbers out there for us!!!!

This company responded quickly, but I still think their pricing is way over the top! The repairman showed up on time, was professional, but smelled like an ashtray though. We already had the ceiling open and access to the tub drain from the basement, so all he had to do was look at it with a flashlight, which we provided because his was out. The tub faucet was dripping so he repaired the washers in it, wrote up our bill and he was on his way. We will try to find a better price on this repair.

They are very courteous, but they are not exactly the most affordable. It was an extraordinary amount so I looked around and found another company. I ended up paying less than half what they were charging. They were very, very good and very friendly. I would recommend them but I would check around. They don?t' charge by the hour; they have a line of things and they check them off and then just add them up. They charge large amounts for anyone to go into a crawlspace. They did come the next day to do the estimate.

I don't remember how much I spent. They were very good and we were satisfied. They were a little high on the pricing. The quality of the work was good.

The contractor went above and beyond telling me how to correct my problem.

I searched the yellow pages while living in DC for a plumber in NC for our rental home. Not ever needing the services of a plumber for this home we were starting from scratch. He was extremely professional, repeated back details of the services, payments, and invoices. He even phoned me after the job to give me more details and arrange payment over the phone long distance. I was impressed. So much so I added him to this site for more business. He was honest and prompt. He knew his job. He did what he said and stayed in contact throughout the arrangement. Where can you find service like that anymore? I've recommended him to other friends still in NC and will continue to do so. I'm glad I have someone I can trust my home to while we are on assignment out of the area.
