Description of Work: I needed a rotting deck pulled down because it would not longer support my pets. And I requested a new stairs be made....four foot landing, just enough for my dogs and cats to use the doggy door. In the beginning, I let him know both were to be done in one day because the back door of the house is way too far from the ground, I stressed, if it can't be done in one day I just want some kind of ramp for my animals to reach the doggy door. He set the price at eight hundred dollars, I asked him before for a written copy of the estimate but he said he hadn't done one but he would do it for eight hundred. He said he'd do it on a Sunday... in between jobs......and that he'd be there at nine. He finally showed up at two when I had to call at least twice to see if he was coming or not. He showed up at two. Sat in his truck for the longest time....I finally went out and said, "Why are you just sitting here? And he said, that he was waiting for me to come out and give him a check.....he said he was going to take down the deck and then take my check to go buy materials. I am gullible, I gave him a check. well, this guy proceeded to take down my back deck, took him less than an hour I heard his chain saw exactly four times, then he loaded it onto his trailer. Then he said he had to go take care of an emergency at another job...that he'd be right back and could he leave his trailer here. I said, I guess. he came back like and hour later, at my door, in a different outfit, first shirt had been a t shirt, second was button up. And said he had to leave to go pick up supplies but that he would be right back and I said, Remember you promised to have at least a ramp my animals can use to get into the house, He assured me he would. This was a Sunday night, I was frantic....Didn't hear from him til I texted him again at eight thirty and he left me a message that he was buying supplies at Lowe's and that he was on his way. At nine o'clock I heard banging at the back door, and after he left a few minutes later I went out and took pictures. He had nailed a two by four to my back door expecting my cats and dogs could walk a tight rope. I canceled my check in the morning and told him I'd hired someone else to clean up the mess he made. He texts me a week later and sends me a statement of what I owe for a piece of plywood. Oh, I forgot the main part, when he left the second time I told him that he'd better hurry up because I would be starting my first drink....meaning I wanted to relax, at six. and he said, Ha, I'm six hours ahead of you....I thought he was acting weird but he admitted he showed up drunk. But I digress....the cost was for three hundred and ten dollars....adding insult to injury. Mind you, he had me sign NOTHING...and of course no hand shake in these trying times. But I feel quite sure you do not want someone like this on your list. I have a pic of the "ramp" he made if you care to see. And buy the way, when I got home the next day my poor dog, deathly afraid of storms was outside soaked, and trembling, scare out of her mind because she couldn't get back into the house. Ultimately I would just like this scammer to leave me alone.
