Mike's Electrical Services

We called Mike, who answered promptly, and was able to schedule a time when it was convenient for us to have the work done (Saturday). We had called our usual handyman who had hemmed and hawed over getting the fixtures replaced for about a month while my wife cooked in the dark. He was able to diagnose the problem, the fixtures were shot, and replaced the fixtures after a quick trip to Lowes. The job took about 3 hours and he did an exceptional job. Mike is very professional and personable. I would highly recommend him for any electrical needs around the home. If you call anyplace else, you are getting second place.

Came over on short notice to fix an ongoing issue. Wasn't a big issue until the wife could no longer use her hair dryer. Mike saved the day. Veteran owned and operated. I'm extremely pleased to have found his company and will surely call him again in the future.

Mike is a great guy and a great electrician. His pricing is very fair. I have used him several times and will continue to do so when needed. A couple of times due to other contractor needs, Mike came over within an hour of calling him, discussing the issue, so as not to hold up the project. Highly recommend!!

Mike was very punctual and responded very quickly to our request for service. He was professional, friendly and courteous, and he knew what he was doing when he replaced the circuit breaker and inspected our system. He impressed me, and I would not hesitate to call him for electrical repair service in the future.

Everything went well and very quickly. They called me that afternoon after leaving a message and scheduled a time to come by the next day. They were ahead of schedule the next day and called me to confirm that they could come on by and start the work. They were very professional and polite. I had previously purchased the exhaust fans but not any wiring, switches or plates. They identified what needed to be done, determined what they had on the truck and what they needed to pickup from the store (to match my pre-existing light switch/plate colors and style). After a 20 minute run to the store they were back and immediately started working. They cut in the ceiling and cut out the walls to add the extra switch. The exhaust fans i had purchased weren't of the highest quality so they had to spend a extra amount of time balancing them properly so they wouldn't scrap when the fans spun. Once the first one was installed they demonstrated to me what the issue was that caused the extra time and show me how the new exhaust fans worked and sound. Everything was great. They went on to the second one. Will one worker was cutting into the second bathroom the other one was cleaning up the first bathroom (with older plaster walls and insulation there was a lot of dust in the bathroom). They cleaned up to the best of their ability with a shopvac. I did have to mop and wet town whip down the counters and other things as there was just so much dust. The second bathroom was finished up even quicker now that they knew how these exhaust fans worked. They then cleaned up that bathroom, loaded their tools and were done. Total time was bout 2.5 hours and they felt (and I agreed) it would have gone faster if the exhaust fans i had purchased had been of a better quality. Overall i was very satisfied with their quality of work and professionalism and will contact them again if i need any future electrical work done.

We had had a preliminary discussion with Mike about what we wanted and what he suggested. About a month later we contacted him to get started. He was able to come by in about a week and two days worth of work got us 99% of the desired work. We provided the fans and lights with one exception.

Another electrical company had tried to get these lines underground, but did not know how to do it. Mike responded to my call on the same day that I called. He used experience, imagination and creativity to solve the problem and to fix it that day.

He gave reasonable cost suggestions, added outlets that we did not request but would certainly need, enhanced lighting beyond my expectations. He and his partner Rich were just great and very concerned about safety, functionality, practicality and cost. We are grateful that we found him.

I became a widow Christmas 2012 & it has been a very challenging time for me! My husband took care of everything that needed fixing, I never had to be involved & suddenly the job fell in my lap. I had multiple electrical issues and wanted a licensed electrician. Looking at the yellow pages or Yelp did not seem to give me what I needed. The thought came to me - Angies List. I joined Angie's List to gain insight into reviews on electricians . I chose Mike's Electrical Service based solely on the 'grades' & reviews. Mike and Rich called the appointment morning to make sure that the scheduled time was still acceptable. They arrived timely - which again was very professional. He introduced himself and Rich to me and asked for the list of what was needed. First, the new ceiling fan - when I purchased it, I had no idea all the parts were not included. The drop from the cathedral ceiling required a rod to bring the fan/light off being flush to the ceiling. Mike offered to go to the local hardware store to pick up the part & just add the cost of that to my bill. Actually, while they were there - they picked up a lighting element for my bathroom. They took the old fan down & removed all the parts. Put up the new fan - removed the packing & it was finished. They even mounted the remote next to the light switch for me...Absolutely- no mess; nothing for me to dispose of!! Next, the electrical issues in the kitchen & dining room were addressed. There was a loose wire under the chandelier in the dining room which was reaffixed. The lights flickering over my counter were actually because I had used fluorescent light bulbs which fluctuate with gas movement causing a flicker that was concerning. They offered to go and obtain a new dimmer but tried one other solution - a clear 60 watt bulb & the flickering stopped! That saved me money for a switch and paying them to change it out. Next, the electrical outlet in the living room floor. The electrical outlet was totally without power and Rich rewired that to resolve the problem. The bathroom mirror & shower light were next - the light kept going out when left on for a short while. Mike put in another fixture that now is brighter, doesn't heat up/go off, and finally saves power! Finally, Mike opened the circuit breaker box and checked all the connections - tightened them up and assured me all was fine. All in all - the cost was 4 hours of labor for 2 men + what they purchased at the hardware store for me. It is very difficult for me as I have lived in HIckory for 13 years but as a traveling sales rep for a National company - I have not made many friends in the community beyond those through my church or as an extension of my deceased husband. None of those friends are electricians unfortunately. My husband had been an inactive Mason & I had possessions that were Masonic belonging to my husband which I needed to have returned to the Lodge. When I noticed Mike's Masonic ring - I asked if he was a Mason and if he would take the things I had back to the Lodge. He offered to do so and was very glad that I had kept them to be returned. The Masonic Lodge does stand for a principle of honor, integrity and doing right by everyone. Or that has been my experience. I was extremely pleased with the service, the professionalism and the care that Mike and Rich used to fix everything that needed repair. I felt very comfortable with them in my home; they were thorough, professional and certainly worth every $1 that it cost to have all the electtrical work done and then some!! I like that he was timely and that he was upfront about what he's gonna charge. I thought it was expensive for what he did and because it wasn't a hard job. It only took a couple of hours. What I didn't like was that they made a really muddy mess at my cement garage and driveway. That was hard for me to clean up.

Mike and Rich did a great job. Very professional. Worked around our schedules, which was greatly appreciated.

Mike did a great job taking care of all my electrical requests. We had a tight schedule to get all the work done before we moved in, but Mike worked with us and everything got completed. I have to apologize to Mike for taking so long to provide this feedback.

When I called Mike, he came over the same day and diagnosed my problem and gave me an estimate. He returned two days later, right on time, made the repair and charged me exactly what he quoted. Great guy, friendly, and knows his stuff. I will use Mike anytime I have an electrical problem.

He showed up on time and went right to work . Had all his equipment and finished promptly.

I work with a real estate investment company and we had purchased a house to use as a rental property. We were unaware that the current electrical service was not able to support a central AC system so we had to get a service upgrade which was increased a to 220 amp. We got multiple quotes for what needed to be done and Mike was one of them which I found on Angies List. From the start Mike was courteous and responsive. He had a quote for us the next day and it was a very fair price. What drew us initially to Mike was his professionalism and knowledge. Once he was selected, he started the work promptly. We ran in to a couple minor problems with the County inspector but Mike worked thru them all and even came out to the house and waited several hours for the inspector to show up one day with no additional charge. We also ended up needing to update our interior breaker box which was not initially quoted. But because of the oversight, Mike took the majority of the cost to upgrade and made sure we were taken care of. Mike also did the wiring for the HVAC and Water Heater which was above and beyond what his initial quote included. To sum up it up, Mike is an excellent electrician that stands behind his work and prices and will make sure the work is done no matter what challenges may arise. His word is good and he is some one you can trust. We will definitely be using him again for future properties. Thank you Mike!

I have a large deep linen closet that had been in the dark for 10 years. There were neither wiring nor outlets for plugging in a light. Mike fished a wire through the wall and installed an LED light with an on/off switch and did such a great job that it looks like it has always been there. I had been used to working in the dark for so long that it was almost shocking to have light and be able to see all the contents of the closet. We have two ponds and two waterfalls with connecting creeks that require pumps pulling 13 amps. Mike installed a dedicated circuit to handle the requirements. We needed two outdoor contractor-grade floodlights replaced. He installed two LED motion sensor lights that work after dark and go off at dawn. I think our Koi will be safer in the pond if predators come looking for a midnight snack when those lights come on and hopefully scare the rascals away. Mike and Rich are consummate professionals who really know what they?re doing. They?re both very nice guys who get the job done in a no-nonsense way while still exhibiting a sense of humor when appropriate. They were on time and worked steadily to complete the jobs. I could not be happier with the results and the cost.
