TriCounty Appliance was prompt, and available right away and his prices are good. However, he can not do anything other than the basic things. When I asked him about a "booster" for my attic (my vent hose is VERY long and goes UP into the attic from the second floor) that my normal guy had mentioned on his last trip in December, he had never heard of such a thing. This is a guy who fixes dryers for a living! I DO NOT recommend TriCounty Appliance. What you will save in the basic service call you will make up for in frustration and having to call another repairman out to fix what he can not.
Description of Work: My dryer was not drying. Getting no heat, although the dryer would tumble. My normal repair guy said I probably blew the thermal something or other due to a venting problem, but they were not available for a week. Called this repairman (whom I'd never used) to see if I could get someone out sooner. Guy came out at 6 p.m. that day. I was thrilled, especially since I didn't call until that afternoon. Basic service call fee was only 60.00, which I was also happy about., my regular guy charges 85.00 for a basic service call. However, the guy fixed the one part (the one my regular guy said was probably the problem), declared my problem solved and left. To be certain I did not blow this thermal part again, I got up in the attic and checked every INCH of my vent hose to be sure that I had good air flow. All was fine. However, I discovered the next day that the problem WAS NOT solved. My dryer is still not heating up. I never even got ONE load to dry! Called the guy back. He got huffy and said he could "warranty that part" only ONE time and he would change it again, but if "it blew" again, that was my problem. He kept insisting that I had a venting problem. To be sure, I got up in the attic AGAIN, checked every inch of my hose from the back of the dryer to where it exits the house. No blockages, no problems. Mind you, I've had bird's nests, and other blockages for long periods of time and never blew that thermal part! I just had really long drying times. He came out, changed the SAME PART again, still did not fix the problem and refused to help any further. Kept insisting it was something I was doing wrong! Called my normal guy back. Will have to wait several more days before he can come out, but he says that likely I've had SOME OTHER part melt down which is causing this thermal part to immediately blow, NOT my vent. So, I will wait for the right guy to come back out and fix ALL the problems and pay lots more money. Very frustrated. Interesting to note, I talked to TriCounty about WHY this part is blowing since I DO NOT have any venting blockages. He specifically SAID that it could be another part that has malfunctioned causing this thermal part to blow each time, but instead of checking the other parts out, he just put another thermal part on AGAIN and no surprise, it blew immediately! He refuses to come back out or refund any of the 95.00 I paid him.

Dear Member, I am responding to your comment about my service a year ago. I had not been a member of Angie's List until today and have just seen your comment. I knew you were unhappy with my service to your dryer. The service provided was appropriate for the problem. At both occurrances when the appliance was serviced it was functioning properly when service was complete. At that time I did not find another reason for appliance failure. You were given a complete refund for the entire service call. Your check was never deposited, check your records and you will concur.
