Initial contact with Doug and Mike...the owners. Excellent, hands on, descriptive. They worked hard to look after us. No confusion,prompt friendly service. Impressed by Antony, Mark, Jimmy. Not a scratch on any of our stuff. My children were comfortable with the crew. Overall super experience. Worth the $$$.

They were impressive! Showed up a little early and got right to work. Professional, careful and friendly. A real pleasure to work with. They moved us in just over 3 hours and the cost was just a little more than if I rented a truck and dolly. I didn't have to do the heavy lifting so well worth the price. Doug and his team understand and practice good customer service and I will definitely recommend them to my friends and use them again. When I was shopping around for a mover they were the only people to call back and I am glad that it worked out that way. Their prices were better and they do outstanding work.

They were excellent. They were very good, very professional, prompt, and answered all of my questions. Working with them was very easy; I couldn’t have worked with a better company. If they promise you something they always do it. They always do what they’re going to do on time, when they say they will. They’re very cooperative, they do things the way you want them done.

A1 Moving was great. Not only were they the best moving service that we have worked with, they may well have been the best service of any kind that we have worked with. The movers were professional, courteous, punctual, etc. They discussed the move with us ahead of time. The discussed the move with us on the day of the move, before they did anything. They were proactive in identifying potential problems or challenges. They pointed out nicks on the furniture before wrapping and moving it. They solved problems for us by suggesting, for example, a way to change out the plug on our dryer when we got to the new location. They moved items from a 3,000 square foot in Rocky Mount to Greensboro, two hours away. Nothing was damaged. Everything was moved with a great deal of care. These guys are the best. Period.

From my first phone call to Doug requesting information and an estimate until the crew left after moving us in, my husband and I were extremely impressed. All my questions were answered before they were asked regarding prices and packing materials and the availability of someone to do the packing for us, and what to expect the day of our move. Our packers (Nina and Shay) were outstanding! Our crew to move us (I wish I had written down all of their names!!) were the absolute BEST. Polite and caring and very professional men, all of them. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was the way we wanted it and even repaired something that was in need long before we hired them to move us. Everything was wrapped to perfection, boxed exactly right, loaded, delivered and unloaded without any problems or mishaps. They even took extra care to make sure our numerous bookcases were aligned! The best part? They made us laugh and reassured us that everything was going to get finished and put away before we knew it. That probably sounds inconsequential but to me it speaks volumes. What could have been an unbelievably stressful time was softened by wonderful, hardworking men who took the time to pay attention as they passed by with heavy boxes or furniture to lighten the moment. I can't say enough good things about this company, the way they do business, and the exceptional people they employ. I only wish there was a rating above "A"!!

We ordered 3 guys and a 26' foot truck. They showed up within 15 minutes of their scheduled time and did a great job. There was one foreman type guy that handled the paperwork, and then 2 guys who did most of the lifting (Mark & Jimmy). Mark & Jimmy were AMAZING and so pleasant to deal with. We had a lot of heavy furniture and lots of stairs. The guys never complained and diligently worked to get the move done as quickly as possible. I do think it would have gone a little faster if the foreman had helped a little more, but overall very satisfied and would recommend.

From the estimate to the final move they were absolutely fabulous. I can't say enough good things... prompt, professional, respectful, friendly. No, they weren't the least expensive but I knew exactly what my move would cost me. No surprises. Don't ever chose anyone else.

This is the second time we have used A-1 movers to move our family from one house to another. I wouldn't consider using another company. They are very professional, extremely careful with all our belongings and helpful in every way with the move. Their estimates have been very accurate. And their employees are incredibly good at their jobs. I've had two great experiences with this company and would absolutely recommend their services to anyone looking for a moving company.

They were very good. They showed up on the day that was snowing, wrapped everything very nicely and the way that they loaded in the truck was very organized so that when got to the near house, everything came off in a logical order. They are all kind of very organize and they've done it quite a bit so they know what they're doing. The price was good.

It went excellent. They were punctual, job was performed just as it was quoted, they are courteous, efficient, and careful.

When I called to set up the move, the owner was wonderful to talk to and made sure to tell me about the license they hold and their A rating here on Angie's List. The owner of the company called the day before the day of the scheduled move to confirm time and how many men would be arriving. The 3 men arrived on time and were very professional throughout the move. They were efficient and careful with our possessions. I would use them again and plan to in the very near future for our upcoming move.

Responded to a request for estimate. The company is not located in Charlotte, where we were moving across town, and quoted a travel charge to do the job in Charlotte. This charge, which was reasonable, resulted in us using a local mover and we did not use A1. With that said, Doug's professionalism and punctuality in calling us back on the weekend within hours of our email and immediately putting a hold on appropriate truck/labor for two potential move dates for us, was worth a positive review. Great customer service experience.

My husband and I were delighted with the fact that Jason and Todd were on time, were obviously very experienced in handling furniture, treated our furniture and home with the same care that they would give their own, were pleasant to deal with and reasonably priced. We will definitely use this company again.

The movers were punctual and worked consistently until the job was done. We were only moving the major heavy stuff, which was a big job. Several big items had to go unpstairs, but they did a good job and didn't bang holes in the walls. The owner went into a lot of detail about how careful they would be not to damage the wood floors and said they had leg pads to put on the bottoms of the wooden furniture so it wouldn't scratch the floors. I understood him to say that they movers would bring them and put them on the furniture. That didn't happen.

When reviewing several candidates for our move, the difference early on was the personal attention from A-1. Rather than having us fill out forms and estimating our move through formulas and communicating via email, we spent a good deal of time on the phone explaining what made our situation unique, including an apiary, wood and stained glass workshops and the associated tools, equipment, and raw materials which included several hundred pounds of stained glass sheets and nearly a ton of hardwoods. Their advice and suggestions were invaluable even before we had made the decision about which carrier we would use. What they suggested and what made their option the most economical for us was to hire them to load two trucks with the most important items and those items best moved by professionals. The remainder we would move ourselves and/or discard. This allowed us to keep costs at a reasonable level for a move that was almost impossible to estimate otherwise. It turned out beautifully. They did such a great job packing the two trucks that we ended up with them handling all of the expensive (and heavy!) stuff, and we were able to get the remainder into a smaller rental truck (which we did at a later date.) They kept telling us that they would not be the cheapest carrier, which was true, but neither was their estimate the most expensive one that we received. We could not be more pleased, impressed, and in awe of the work that the movers did. They arrived in WV with fresh snow on the ground, and the high temperature the days they loaded the trucks was 12 degrees; when they unloaded in NC, it was in the middle of an ice storm. Yet they did not slow down or hesitate to focus on their jobs. We have already recommended them to a couple of other people and will not hesitate to call them at any time in the future.

A-1 Moving (the "Company") packed my household belongings and furniture in Winston-Salem, NC and moved everything to Arlington, VA. I have previously experienced two big corporate moves (with United Van Lines and Allied Van Lines) and believe that I am fairly familiar with industry standards when it comes to packing by major moving companies. The Company exceeded my expectations with regard to their packing materials and procedures, using the correct kind of boxes (e.g., dish barrels where warranted, etc.), plenty of paper, padding, etc. They were very friendly, respectful and courteous, and took great care of all of my belongings and furniture, and delivered everything to my condo in Arlington, VA without incident or breakage. The move was complicated due to a pending divorce which made packing more difficult for them because the entire household was NOT being packed. They were more than patient with this situation. The movers themselves were wonderful people and were particularly careful with my many Victorian antiques (including five marble topped items) and mirrors which were quite delicate. They were also very helpful with placement of furniture and even unwrapped and placed my heavy planters on my balcony because I was unable to lift them. Most notable, however, was that the movers were very honest. They moved a large quantity of sterling silver flatware and designer jewelry for me without incident because I was unable to fit it into my car. Additionally, I had completely forgotten that I had left an envelope containing $800.00 in cash in my desk drawer. When unpacking the box containing the drawer contents, I discovered that I had done this, and further discovered that ALL of the cash in the envelope was packed and undisturbed. The Company and the movers themselves were awesome and I could not have wished for a better move.

The crew were prompt and professional. There were some unexpected complications--not of their doing-- and they gracious and accommodating. Nothing was broken and they made sure everything was to my satisfaction before they left.

The project went flawlessly from start to finish. There were no surprises of any kind and the cost was very reasonable.

From start to finish A-1 Moving was a class act. They were extremely kind in rescheduling the move when my wife became ill. The crew was incredibly professional and friendly. I have a home listed on the historic register and the crew took exceptional care both with the belongings and the house. I will definitely call them again when I need assistance with moving.

I was SOOOO stressed out but I think thanks to A1 I will survive the flooding of the basement. Doug also referred me to the next step with the water removal and mold treatment company who has also come today .Now I can move forward with what seemed insurmountable this A.M.

This is a highly professional team. I am so impressed in the manner these gentlemen treated my family and me. Always willing to help us. Mike, Todd, Marc, and Mike were the greatest. Arrived at 9:00am and finished unloading that truck at my new home at 7:30pm. Worked all day just as hard as they did when they arrived at 9. I have never seen anything like this before. I had not heard of A-1 Moving until I saw them on Angie's List. I like to use local companies and gave Doug a call. He provided me with all the answers I had and told me he would call me a couple of days to verify the moving. We did have to delay for about 2 weeks as we were waiting for the floors to be finished. Not a problem with Doug. Said he was used to this. He quoted me my rate and made me aware price would be based on an hourly rate Everything Doug told me they would do, they did. I have not found any items broken, chipped, or damaged. Would I recommend A-1 Moving ?..I already have. Did I get a good price?....yes, a great price. Am I glad I used them?......yes. Would I use them again?.....yes. Thank you Doug, Mike, Todd, Marc, and Mike for making what could have been a nightmare for me a good day. Oh yes, the move was on a Friday and Doug called on Monday to make sure I was pleased and everything went smoothly. Great Service.

They arrived promptly at 9 am and had completed the entire job, and also delivered several items to my house across town, in 3 hours. The 3 movers were accompanied by 2 additional workers and a second truck, and the extra two hauled off all the discarded items. As important as the professionalism of the crew was their gentle treatment of my mother, who was under great anxiety because of these dramatic changes in her life.

My husband and I were downsizing to a 2-bedroom home. When I called for an estimate, I was given complete information about the company, what to expect, and how everything would be handled. A-1 sent a crew of 3 men to move our furniture and other household items, which we had already boxed. They arrived on time, introduced themselves, were very friendly and courteous, and worked at what we thought was an incredibly rapid pace. They wrapped all upholstered furniture in plastic to keep it clean. They put blankets on the floors at all entrances to the house. We have hardwood floors in both houses, and when using hand trucks (dollies), they always put a blanket on the floor so that the metal of the hand truck would not scratch the floors. Furniture that needed to be set down on the driveway near the truck as it was being loaded was also put on a blanket to protect it. My husband and I were very impressed with the care that was taken. At the new house we were asked where we wanted each piece to be placed. Everything got here and with a minor exception, arrived undamaged: there were light scratches on one piece of furniture that we believe occurred during the move, but we did not file a claim, as the piece involved was not in prime condition to begin with.

The staff at A1 Moving were very professional from the first time I called to get a quote to the last piece of furniture that was brought into the house. They were polite, curteous and knowledgeable. They arrived on time and worked diligently until the move was completed. I would definately reccommentd them for your next move
