Bobby came out to do an estimate on a concrete stoop/porch. He was to get back to me with the estimate in a day or so. After about 3 weeks, I contacted him to ask if he had an estimate and if he could do the job. He gave me the estimate and said it would be the 'middle of the week'. This was on Saturday. I waited till Thursday evening and texted him to ask when he thought he might be able to get to it. He then said he's shooting for Saturday. Saturday evening I texted him and said "Looks like you aren't going to make it today". He said he had to go out of town and will get it done one evening this week, Tuesday or Wednesday. That was 2 weeks ago. As long as I don't contact him, he doesn't bother to contact me. When I do contact him, he just gives me another day or date that he'll be there. It's very obvious that he's purposely putting me off until I give up, which is what I did. I found another person who said he would do the job, and then he actually did it. I don't know how or why a person would stay in business if they don't actually want the work. Way back in the day, there was a saying about a man being a 'man of his word'. That seems to have fallen by the way side. Finding someone today that is a 'man of his word' (or true to his word) seems to be a rarity. My advice for Mr. Reaves: If you say you're going to be somewhere, then either be there or at least have the decency to let your potential customer know that you can't make it - or better yet, let your potential customer know that you're not interested in the job. Honestly and truthfulness goes a long way .... especially in business.
