Produced a really good product.

My Job was fairly simple. Replace a section of driveway and sidewalk which was uneven due to tree root growth, and add a section of driveway to provide extra parking and turnaround space. During the removal of the old concrete, one area of remaining concrete was cracked (I discovered this later), a small portion was broken off, and an underground wire to one of my landscape lights was severed. None of this was reported to me. I found all this later. I should have known I was in trouble when the schedule kept slipping on an almost day by day basis, but the job still got done withing the original time frame. The tree root which was causing the original problem would have been left in place (leading I am sure to a future concrete job) if I had not seen that they were not going to remove it. I got three quotes for the job, and this was the third quote. In the first two quotes, we discussed removal of concrete, backfill after the pour, etc. The three quotes were all within $50 of each other with Atkins being the lowest. Upon reflection I will admit that the above was not discussed, but since it was essentially the same, I did not think to ask for details. My mistake. The Atkins quote did not include hauling away the concrete, did not include backfilling around the new concrete, did not include replacing yard timbers removed to pour the new sections. They did agree to move most of the old broken concrete to the back of my property – more to get it out of the way than anything else. (A neighbor came over the next day to complain about using my back yard as a trash pile) They did remove the stakes and forms (so they could reuse them on the next job I am sure). And as noted above did not include repair of the damages they caused. They did carefully clean their tools, but did not clean up any concrete overspill on the driveway. Any mud and dirt left on the driveway was left for me to clean up. I later found a section of lawn with a thin layer of concrete where they had washed out their tools, wheelbarrow etc, and then dumped the water on the lawn. I have now spent two days cleaning up the mess, and can see yet one more day. If this is the kind of job you want, hire Atkins.

the only problem I had with brian was his lack of keeping me informed about scheduling and having his crew stick to it.

Brian made some schedule changes in order to get my driveway poured a little sooner. His workers did a great job. They were very polite and worked very hard.
