They were fine.

I did not want to pay extra for pick-up and delivery, so I dropped off and picked up the rugs myself. It was very, very hard to find a mutually acceptable time for picking up the cleaned rugs as the owner is not at the cleaning facility all the time. While trying to find a time for me to pick-up the rugs, I asked if I could use a free pick-up and delivery coupon that I had just for them to deliver the rugs. The owner stated that that would cost an additional $30. What? $30 extra for "free" delivery????? A 50% down payment was required when I delivered the rugs. Yet when I went to pick up the cleaned rugs, he stated the original full amount as what I owed. I reminded him that I had made a deposit, he checked, apologized, and refigured the total. (The down payment was "required"????) He then asked for a gratuity, which I paid, but regret having done so. All in all, I felt that the experience was not a good one and I would not go back. The cost to clean the rugs was half what I had paid for them.

I called John Alderson on Tuesday 5/20/14 to schedule a quote and pickup of my area rug. He come early on 5/22 to accommodate my schedule. He come with an assistant and told me about all the services Universal Cleaning offered on cleaning area rugs. I purchased the protector and conditioner and declined others. I also purchased a pad that will protect both the floor and the rug. I paid him 50% down at time of pickup. I called him 6/11/14 to check on status since our new furniture was coming and I wanted the rug to come before the furniture. He scheduled to come out 6/13/14 at a time convenient with me and he and an assistant delivered the pad and rug and centered it on my floor. They rechecked for any stray fibers. They were in a out within 1/2 hour. The rug looks wonderful and feels so much softer.

Everything went very well. Carpet, grout, everything the two men did was more than satisfactory.

When I made the appointment he explained the gout sealer he used and that the sealant should last 3-5 years. He asked us to make sure that we did not use the shower for at least 2-3 days and to make sure at all the gourt was dry for at least 2-3 days, that it makes the sealant adhere better and will last longer. He came to the house at 10:00, he covered his shoes before he went with me to the master bathroom. He worked straight through till around 1:00 pm. He then brought in a large fan to surface dry the floor and explained what he did and how well the grout took up the two applications of the sealant. He also showed me an area that the tile layer missed putting grout between the tiles on the shower floor. He left the house as he found it. I paid him when he left and a few days later in the mail I received a paid invoice.

Scheduling the appointment for an estimate and then for the actual cleaning was very fast and easy. John answered the telephone himself and was available on our schedule. He arrived when expected, worked diligently, and did a wonderful job. The carpet dried very quickly and the appearance was much improved. John called a few days later to make sure we were happy with his work. The price seemed a little high, but this was the first time we had had this carpet cleaned, so we may not have known what to expect. We were extremely happy with the lack of hassle, the good cleaning and the quick drying.
