It went well! It was a little costlier than we would have liked, but we knew very well what it would cost going into it, and Bill stuck to his estimate. We received some estimates that were a bit lower, but Bill made a great impression. He was very professional. They really took care to fix everything just right. They came right back out to address any issues that presented themselves.

After 38 years, it was time for a new kitchen. Fortunately I hired Bill Camp of Triangle Design Kitchen. From demolition of the old kitchen, to completion of the new kitchen it was a delightful experience. Bill and his team are knowledgeable, skilled, precise, creative, innovative professionals! Bill built me a "dream kitchen" that is customized to how I cook and what I use to cook. He creatively used every inch of space available. Bill is so current on the "state of the art" in kitchens, that I went with 100% of his ideas! The end product is gorgeous and functional. I am so grateful to Bill and his team for a job well done!

After approximately 3 weeks I called to inquire about when we could expect a quote. I was told that time off was taken to spend time with a new child (which was fine with me) and that I could expect a quote in the next week. I never heard back from the provider. While I can understand that other jobs may have been more lucrative, it is unacceptable from my point of view to make a promise to provide a quote and then never calling me back, even if the call was to say they were too busy on bigger jobs and would not provide a quote.
Description of Work: Provider responded to a request to visit my home to collect information necessary to provide a quote on remodeling our master bath. Promised a quote in 2 weeks.

Response from TRIANGLE DESIGN KITCHENS
[member name removed], I'm sorry I never got back with you. It was unprofessional, and I should have at least let you know that I wouldn't be able to complete an estimate in a timely fashion. As you know, my son was in the neonatal intensive care unit for five weeks after his birth, and I ended up taking an additional two weeks off after he came home. When I did start back to work full time I barely had time to keep up with my jobs already in progress, and your job was not the only one that I lost due to taking time off to be with my newborn son. Regardless, I should have responded to let you know that I wouldn't be able to provide you with an estimate at that time, or to refer you to another designer/remodeler that would have been able to assist you.

Our decision to use Bill Camp and Triangle Design Kitchens to remodel the kitchen and powder bath in our downtown condo was an easy one. Bill had done the existing kitchen for the previous owner, so we knew he would be the best choice for the upgrades that we wanted to make which included quartz countertops, commercial grade appliances, additional storage, and built in seating. My wife and I also wanted to completely redo a half bath, as well as add storage and tile to an adjacent family room. Bill was extremely helpful in the design phase of the project. His knowledge of cabinet design allowed him to take the wild design ideas that we had and adapt them to work within our budget through the creative use of semi-custom cabinetry. He literally brought our concepts to life, including a tiled ventless fireplace with a mantle that integrated into surrounding cabinetry, built in bench seating with storage that matched our existing cabinets, quartz window sills, and a minimalistic floating bathroom vanity. I was thoroughly impressed with Bill's business acumen- clearly he has been doing this for many years. As we moved forward with scheduling the reno, Bill outlined the scope of work and timeline with official contracts so that we would always know exactly what to expect. Even minor change requests were documented with official change order paperwork which assured me that every detail that we had discussed would be addressed. The cabinet order arrived on schedule, and the crew went to work. Cabinetry installation was handled by Ashley Boltinhouse, while electrical, plumbing, and tile was subbed out to Bill Stockford and Steve Beezley, with all coordination of the work handled by Bill Camp. The attention to detail that the TDK team puts into their work is absolutely incredible. "Good enough" is not in their vocabulary - everything fits perfectly, doors line up exactly, drawers open and close smoothly, and tile work is perfectly centered and transitions seamlessly to adjacent surfaces. The finished product totally exceeded our expectations, and my wife and I could not be happier. We would absolutely recommend Bill Camp and Triangle Design Kitchen to anyone considering a kitchen or bath remodel.
Description of Work: Kitchen and bath remodel, plus some additional cabinetry and tile work in adjacent family room areas.

Bill showed us examples of cabinet designs. We selected the design, he measured and advised, and designed the cabinets and shelves that would fit the space. He advised use of roll-out pantries and swing-out corner cabinet designs that we did not know existed. Bill sent off the order to a Wisconsin cabinet builder. About six weeks later, on schedule, a large truck pulled up with all of our cabinets. Bill had Ashley Boltinhouse do the fitting and installation of the cabinets. This required about five full days of work as nothing was straight or level in our 80-year-old home. Mr. Boltinhouse did a superb job on the installation. There were no misunderstandings about the measurements, the design, or the building of the cabinets so everything fit just as intended. Eighteen months later, we still love the new design and appreciate the improvement to our home. When there was one door knob that broke, one call to Bill brought him over and he ordered and delivered a new knob.
Description of Work: Bill Camp, owner of Triangle Design Kitchens, provided kitchen cabinet design, sourced the cabinet building, took delivery, and arranged for professional installation of all the cabinets in our complete kitchen remodeling. He worked very smoothly with general contractor Energy Independent Builders. Our home is a 1935-era house near downtown Raleigh so the floors were not level, the walls were not straight, there were many ways the job was more difficult than in a new home.
We looked at a few contractors for this project. TDK was the only one that included design services, which was important to us since we wanted to open up one wall, and knew this would require relocating appliances and a new layout. Bill Camp was great to work with throughout the entire project - he took the time to listen to what we wanted, helped us think about what we needed, and came up with a great layout that gave us everything we wanted. He gave us good leads on places to look for flooring and backsplash materials, as well as for appliances. We also worked with him to choose quality cabinets and countertops that fit into our budget. He and the folks he subcontracted to did a great job installing the cabinets, countertops, and backsplash. He checked in regularly as the project progressed, and was happy to fix any issues that cropped up. He even came himself after the project was basically finished to bring an install a cabinet handle that had not been ordered with the others, and to install some door stops that became necessary once the appliances were installed. We also used the contractor he usually works with & recommends, Bill Stockford of Energy Independent Builders. They were also easy to work with, and did quality work on the plumbing, electrical, carpentry, insulation, drywall, and painting (his crew didn't do the floors - the company we purchased the flooring from did that install). I would highly recommend Bill Camp and TDK - we are very happy with both how our project was handled, and with our new kitchen.
Description of Work: Our 1950's knotty pine kitchen was completely remodeled, and the wall between the kitchen and dining room was opened up. The kitchen was taken down to the studs; new floor, ceiling, cabinets, countertops, and appliances were installed. Most of the appliances were relocated, and a small eating area was created. The cost listed includes all new appliances, and some extras (mostly new doors) that we added to the project.

We are very pleased with the overall work of TDK and EIB. They work well together. Our order was placed with the cabinet maker and a delivery date was agreed upon. Demolition of the kitchen began about a week before the delivery of the cabinets. All inspections were passed prior to installation of the cabinets. All deliveries were on schedule for the cabinet work. Cabinet work went very well. TDK had a very tight space to work in and they designed everything to fit perfectly. We were very pleased with the cabinet work. Bill has a very practical approach to designing and we found that to be especially helpful. We wanted a kitchen that fit the house and not one that overpowered the house. We feel we accomplished that with Bill's advice. We have been very pleased with the increased storage space we have with our new cabinets. Everything is easily reached now. We had one problem with the granite. The edging was not done properly. The granite was replaced and edged correctly with no additional cost to us. My expectation is that we lost about 3 work days in the process. Not a big deal. Overall, we were pleased with the work of TDK. Things were done on schedule and the budget was maintained. Bill Camp is very easy to work with and willing to offer insights and assistance on whatever topics you need help with. We relied on him to help us a lot in selecting the wall color and he made suggestions and brought by paint for us to see the colors in place. Our total project took 8 weeks and that included Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Without the Holiday times, it may have been a week or so shorter but we had planned on two months. We think Bill does an excellent job in coordinating the many activities that are needed in a project of this type. We did not have any delays due to something being backordered or not delivered on time. All City inspections were completed and everything passed. Being an older home, we did have to install smoke detectors but were not required to have them hard wired. Battery operated were fine.
Description of Work: TDK prepared a design for the renovation of our kitchen. A smaller kitchen built in 1969. Suggested a source for electrical fixtures. Helped us select the cabinet company and style/color of the cabinets. Ordered and installed the cabinets. Helped us select the hardware for the cabinets. Helped us select the vent hood for above the stove. Helped us select the granite for our countertops and arranged for the installation. TDK was responsible for the tile backsplash installation. Handled getting bids on appliances for the kitchen and acted as the point of contact with the company selected to ensure timely delivery. TDK also helped with the coordination of the construction company, Energy Independent Builders. TDK has worked with EIB for many years. Everything was taken back to the studs. EIB was responsible for demolition, reconstructing the room, flooring, electrical, plumbing, and painting.

The project took longer than expected, but primarily because of unpredictable delays in availability of specific products and our unwillingness to accept substitutes. The design process was smooth and informative. In fact, we found the owner Bill Camp to be an imaginative, attentive and responsive designer who has a great fund of knowledge about available products. It was reassuring that he could advise us about the performance characteristics, long term durability and maintenance requirements of various products as well as costs and aesthetics. As a result, we got what we considered to be an excellent design tailored to our specific tastes and use requirements at a reasonable price. He also worked well with suppliers and engaged high quality subcontractors and tradesmen with the result that the demolition, construction and installation process was much less disruptive than we had expected. The end result is a beautiful and functional new kitchen that we hope to be able to enjoy for years to come. We consider Triangle Design Kitchens to be an excellent service provider and have no reservations about highly recommending this company.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel: design, demolition to studs, drywall work, lighting and other electrical work, new plumbing, floor, cabinets, counter tops, new appliances, etc
I can't say enough great things about Bill Camp and TDK. He spent several hours with us on the first day looking at our kitchen and listening to our ideas. Don't be concerned about spending a lot of time with him that first visit. His ideas unfold, so give it time. Then he drew up a floor plan at no charge--the only kitchen designer of the four I contacted who were willing to do that. (Others charged as much as $3000 just to see their floor plan!) As we worked with him and discussed various ideas, he would go back to his computer and re-work various design features to meet our needs. He is very creative and the computer drawings gave us a perfect idea of how things would look. Bill is the most patient man. He worked with my husband and I (who are obsessive about decisions) for almost a year while we went through endless cabinet choices. He never became impatient and met with us on many Saturdays both at our house and his studio to fit our work schedule. He was willing to meet us at the tile store, come look at our floor color choices and advise us about every minute detail. We could call him at any time or email him and he would reply promptly and patiently. We had many, many questions and he was always happy to help and never said something could not be done. His cabinet and tile guys did the most outstanding job. Ashley, the cabinet installer, is a perfectionist so everything is even and well done. If you have a problem with a cabinet swelling in the humidity, Bill or Ashley will come back and fix it. A few of our original doors came with some marks on them, and Bill took pictures and sent for replacements. You never have to ask him twice to do anything. He is efficient and responsive. In addition to the cabinets, tile and granite installation, Bill helps you design the interior of your cabinets and drawers, including dividers and inserts. He asked me to go get my largest appliances and pots to see if any drawers or shelves needed to be adjusted. In terms of price, Bill is very precise and will tell you if any of your choices will add a premium to your original estimate. There are no surprises. We live in Chapel Hill and although his office is in Raleigh, he was always willing to come to our house if he needed to look at something. Our kitchen is unbelievable. Stunning. We are thrilled beyond description. I would hire Bill Camp again without any reservations. The things that distinguished him from the other designers in my mind are:1)Willingness to show you the design before you hire him2)Willingness to meet on the weekends for working clients3)Infinite patience 4)Creativity5)Ability to work with a range of homeowners. The three houses we looked at before hiring him were all modest homes. That reassured us, as some other local designers seem to only work with very high end houses. Bill would be great at that as well, but we never felt pushed to order anything more expensive than we wanted. I am already thinking about what other projects he might help us with!
Description of Work: Remodeled kitchen with a new floor plan. Relocated sink, fridge and stove and changed U shaped kitchen to more open floor plan with an island. Price listed above includes paint, all new appliances (fridge, stove, micro, hood, dishwasher), lighting in kitchen and attached family room, and sanding and refinishing of floors in kitchen, family room, living room, dining room and hall as well as the usual tile, cabinets and granite. Bill Camp at TDK worked with us on all selections and answered endless questions. He supervised the cabinet, tile and undercabinet lighting installation. Bill Stockford (Energy Independent Builders) did the general contracting and hired the subcontractors (plumbing and electricians). I hired my own painter and used a lighting specialist.

I can't say enough good things about Bill Camp and Ashley! It is easy to find cheaper cabinets at Lowe's or Home Depot, but it was worth the extra price to have Bill holding my hand (almost literally) and Ashley installing the cabinets so perfectly. Bill walked us through months of planning, patiently answering tons of questions and helping get the price down until we were ready to go. The project was completed on time and on budget (except for the extras WE decided on after he started - not his fault and handled nicely.) He also answered and gave me moral support when I was stressing out about the contractor who did the tear out, dry wall, floors, plumbing, painting and heat/ac (more on that below). Ashley did a great job fitting the cabinets into a not straight room, replaced 2 doors that had problems that I didn't even see and added wonderful details I hadn't thought of, but love (small cables to keep the doors from hitting the walls, vent hood, etc.). He came back and replaced the trim under the cabinets when it wasn't big enough to cover the lights (no charge). AND he cleaned up after himself every day! An example of Bill's kindness was that twice after everything was complete, drawers got stuck on things (a pot my husband crammed in the first day and a knife that popped up in another). Both times he only teased me a little, then made really helpful suggestions and explained how the drawers could easily come off. The second time was on Christmas Eve day and he didn't act impatient or bothered at all! Bill also oversaw the installation of granite counter tops and ceramic tile backsplash. Both were done on time and beautifully. Twice he had the installers come back to fix minor problems, one of which I hadn't seen. The only thing I didn't like as much wasn't Bill at all - it was the contractor Bill works with, Energy Independent Builders. Although they finished their parts of the job on time and under budget, I found the contractor (Bill Stockford) too laid back. Out of 8 weeks, there was only one week that someone was there every day. Most weeks there was lots of work on Monday/Tuesday, then nothing at all. This was frustrating when we were living with the guest bathroom as the "kitchen!" He would fix anything I found, but never looked for problems or things done wrong. He always fixed things, but it was frustrating that I had to find them all. Bill Camp said in the beginning I could get my own contractor and I wonder if I should have. My only suggestion would be to make sure the drawings include horizontal measurements and where and how the outlets will be installed. Ours didn't have that and although it all worked out (Thanks Bill Camp!), it would have been less stressful if that info had been on the drawings.
Description of Work: Helped with the redesign of our kitchen, replaced the cabinets, counters and tile backsplash as part of a complete kitchen remodel.
Bill was very knowledgeable and the line of cabinets that he sells are of the highest quality. One of the reasons we chose Triangle Design is that he understood what we wanted in a clean, minimal, but warm look to the kitchen. He visited the kitchen and began by asking lots of questions before he even measured the space. Bill came up with a design that created more functional work space and storage in a tiny kitchen (10' 6" x 8' 6" ). The kitchen turned out to be not only beautiful, but a joy to work in.
Description of Work: The price includes everything except sink, faucet, appliances and installation of a gas line for the stove. This is from complete demolition of existing kitchen to the last touches including painting and a final cleaning. Triangle Design did the cabinet installation, tile backsplash and granite countertops. They work with a contractor who does the demolition, plumbing, electrical, painting and any structural changes. All of the subcontractors were good and everything went ahead basically on schedule. Bill and the contractors are experienced in remodeling and it shows. Bottom line, we love our new kitchen. Do not expect there to be someone there every day. The schedules vary and the work has to be done in a particular sequence. Triangle Design and the contractor had contracts that were very specific regarding what it is that they will do and the price was what they said it would be. Don't be afraid to ask questions. It is, after all, your kitchen.

Their part is mostly done, but I’m still working with some of the other general contractors that came in and did a lot of carpentry work, appliances and stuff. The job went pretty well. They are very professional and very good. They pretty much did what they said they would do. The price is around $25000 to $30000. I would use them again in the future if need be.

They were awesome and my kitchen is still perfect after 10 years. They charged us $53000 for the kitchen and $35000 for the bathrooms. They were very good. I told other people that they are very high priced since everyone ends up going with someone cheaper. I can call them right now today and they will send somebody out to fix it for me. They fixed the cabinetry and all the stuff that I got from them. Everyone affiliated with that company is perfect. When it comes to their price, you get what you pay for. It’s a luxury high-end. They used to build the multi million dollar homes here in Raleigh, but we don’t have a higher end house. You get quality and service for the price you pay. They are at the top of the line. There were no problems with their punctuality. I would use their services in the future too. In fact if I have any problems, they send somebody out. It’s a life time warranty that they do and they take care of you. They are a local business that I like to promote.

Bill and his team provided professional services to make our kitchen and powder room more efficient and beautiful. We are so pleased with the results. Triangle Design Kitchens (TDK) was able to design for us a lovely kitchen and bath, incorporating our lengthy wish list of items, opening up our bottleneck areas and increasing the flow of the kitchen, while enhancing the aesthetics of the space. TDK improved our space with a breakfast bar area and shelving for cookbooks, pottery and office items. All were integrated seamlessly for the kitchen and desk area, offering a smooth transition. The powder room design with streamlined vanity improved this small area and makes it seem much larger. We appreciated the professional input and experience from TDK in undertaking our kitchen/bath home project. We needed TDK's guidance to extract the most from our living space. It was a pleasure to work with TDK. They are very skilled and provided many custom touches to our project.
Description of Work: We decided to gut our kitchen and powder room. Triangle Kitchen Design's Bill Camp created a more efficient design for these spaces and assisted us in choosing cabinetry, countertops, and tile backsplash. Bill has a general contractor that performs the old kitchen demolition and any necessary construction. Bill planned, ordered and coordinated installation of all cabinetry.

We enjoyed working with the designer, Jessica. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. However, the pricing was more than we could afford for our size kitchen. They work pretty much exclusively with custom order materials. I don't doubt that the work is beautiful and quality is very high. I did not necessarily think the pricing for cabinets and countertops was high, but all the "extras", installation, and demolition were very expensive. Their pricing would probably be more congruent with someone designing a much larger kitchen. The estimate given ranged (as it was a preliminary) from about $36,000 to $50,000. This is a pretty wide range even with some variation for appliances and detail work. Had we requested a more specific quote and detailed design, we would have needed to make a deposit. We already knew it was way over our budget for a basic galley kitchen, approximately 10x12 in a 1450 sq. ft. home. However, they were nice to work with with many choices and lots of creativity.
Description of Work: They performed a measurement of our kitchen and were very detailed and easy to work with. They also met with us for two consultations, the original meeting and a followup to discuss a preliminary design.

We couldn't be happier with the finished product and the process itself was relatively painless. Bill was very upfront about how long the job might take and where there might be problems. When the initial estimate was a bit more than we could afford, Bill found cheaper ways to do what we wanted. The people who did the work were great - our dogs loved them. I can't think of a single thing to complain about - just that I wish we had done this years ago.
Description of Work: Two very small side-by-side bathrooms were combined to make one reasonably sized bathroom. All fixtures, flooring and sheet rock were replaced. Lighting and ventilation were upgraded. Ceramic tile was put in the bath alcove. The ceramic tile floor was installed with radiant heating coils along with a programmable thermostat. A custom-made cabinet was also part of the remodeling.
