This company has stood me up three times this month. They are contracted by Duke Energy to service my line guard services. They keep giving me a window from 12 to 4pm so I make it 2:45pm. That's in their window they offered me all three times. They made the window (not me) but then after the third time standing me up they BLAMED ME for picking 2:45 in the window they provided. They didn't blame me the first two times and still offered the same time window all three times. Its MY fault they stood me up 3 times they said. (yes they said that) I pay Duke Energy for this service every month I have been extremely tolerant and understanding but when Jason blamed me for them not coming and said, "our guy is not going to wait around all day for YOU". What? I'm the one that's been waiting all day... 3 times !!!! Couldn't it be his turn to wait a few minutes on the customer thats already been kicked to the curb twice already over two weeks? WOW! I've been here every time, waiting, losing money. I missed out on valuable OT for the holidays. I'm 64 and in danger with my loose breaker and running on emergency heat for 3 weeks off and on. Its is going to cost me dearly in the wallet. As much time and money I have lost to this joke of a business I could have hired me an electrician out of pocket. After Jason just wanted to keep blaming me for their incompetence I asked for the manager. (forgot his name for now) but all he did was escalate the situation and blamed me more and finally told me to find someone else and hung up on me. So I did. I found the the person in authority at Duke Energy that contracts them. I would never hire this company if you need to get the work done. I am 64 post heart attack, on emergency heat, that's off and on for three weeks now. Its cold in here because on EM it blows colder air faster so turn your heat down to 70 and then turn on all your fans and that's how it feel for 3 weeks. Sometimes I can reset the breaker but its harder every time. They couldn't care less about their customer. Trust me.
Description of Work: Fix a breaker. 10 minutes

$204.25 to flip a GFI switch??? I called this company because my garbage disposal was not working. I was unsure of what was causing the problem so I assumed it was electrical. Johnathan and Nick came out from Title Electrical and flipped the GFI switch and the garbage disposal is still not working. They told me to call a plumber to get my problem resolved. I am a senior citizen and I know I am being scammed. Please have plenty of money before you call this company. #American Greed

Wow! These folks are the best. We have had many contractors do work for us over the years, but Tidal Electric has really impressed us. They were recommended by Duke Energy, so they've got to be pretty good. My wife called and made an appointment for an estimate to install a new GFIC/GFCI outlet in our front bathroom after a major remodel, and move the 220-volt dryer outlet for us. Donnie the electrician arrived EARLY with a helper to give us an estimate. (This speaks well to me, because I like the fact that they are passing-on their knowledge!) They both observed proper COVID-19 protocols for each visit. Donnie is so nice and personable, not to mention knowledgeable, but able to effectively communicate with us, regular, non-electricians! We showed him what needed to be done and he got right to the estimate, which was reasonable for what needed to be done. They are not the cheapest in town, but a licensed and insured professional won’t be. You only have to read their reviews to know that these folks are the real deal. There was something special about Donnie, so that's who we requested to return and do the work. Again, he arrived early, with Tim ("the beast"). LOL, and went straight to work. I wasn’t home for the work, but my wife said they made her feel comfortable, like we had known them for years! They divided the work intelligently and pursued it productively! Our crawl space is no picnic, and Tim had to crawl the length of the house in order to do a good portion of the work! They also fixed a problem with another breaker in our main box as soon as they found it and notified us. They were both so nice and their work methods complimented each other well. Their quality of work exceeded my very high standards. Electricians who aren't just good, they're a joy to work with and give great value for our hard-earned dollar. My wife and I have decided that we are not going to use anyone else for electrical work. I cannot recommend anyone higher. Thank you, Donnie and Tim, we appreciate it! And, thank you Tidal Electric for employing the quality and caliber of people like them. Please convey our thanks and admiration to them. They earned it!
Description of Work: Move 220-volt dryer outlet, raise 110 washer outlet, install new GFIC/GFCI outlet in bathroom following remodel project.

I called last Monday, around 9am, got a gentlemen who seemed to be a customer service rep, described the service need. He checked to see if their dispatcher was available; she'd be off her current call shortly and I could expect a callback within an hour. Great. Monday 5pm, no phone call. Tuesday 5pm, no phone call. I'd been busy all day, so didn't have a chance to check call them myself until shortly after 5pm. Google states they are open to 6pm, so I thought I'd try to see if anyone was still in the office. The phone was answered by a gentleman described as "after hours reception". He got surly with me when I simply attempted to determine if he worked for Tidal or an after hours answering service. I was simply trying to make sure he did NOT put the call through to their after hours, on-call emergency-service electrician, but instead just leave a message for dispatching to call me the next morning during normal business hours. About 5 minutes after he abruptly ended the call, I (of course) received a call from the after-hours, on-call, emergency-service technician. I explained the situation, and that I just needed a prompt callback from dispatch in the morning. He apologized for the issues, and assured me he'd pass along that along and I'd get a call promptly Wednesday. Wednesday, I did get a call from dispatch finally. She scheduled me for 10am Friday... or actually I can juggle his Friday morning and send him to you first at 8am-9am Friday if that's better? Yes, that's perfect! Friday morning, while having scheduled myself a late work start so I can be there for Tidal, 9am comes and goes and no electrician, no phone call. I call into Tidal at 9:15. The dispatcher's out, the gentleman I speak to checks and says, I'm not on the schedule... not for Friday, not at all. I (again) explain the situation, and note that I now need to start my work day, and request a call first thing Monday morning. No problem, he apologies for the confusion, and assures me I will get a prompt phone call Monday morning. It's now Monday at 2pm, no phone call. I call, get the service rep, he puts right through to the dispatcher, without apparently providing ANY of the background, because I basically just get "Tidal, this is (insert dispatcher name here)". I explain the whole thing again... including the fact that I was apparently "not on the schedule anywhere". A couple of clicks on the keyboard, and the answer is "well that's because you were on Brian's schedule, and Brian didn't leave Raleigh on Friday". Ohhh... well that makes perfect sense. I was on Brian's schedule. At this point, you have to realize the amount of effort I've put in to doing business with this company, and I've gotten no where. All while taking cold showers for going on 10 days now, and I haven't even gotten the assessment and quoting of the electrical work EVEN SCHEDULED yet... All I was looking for at this point was a "Hey, we really dropped the ball here. I'll do everything I can at this point to get you on the schedule ASAP so we can get things moving for you." The dead pan and apathy with which "well, you were on Brian's schedule" was delivered was too much. "You know what, I'm going to call someone else for the work. Thanks for your time". I paused a moment for a response, any response. There was none. It's over.
Description of Work: Our hot water heater went out, and with our plumber we decided to switch from an electric tank based water heater to a tankless. The tankless draws more juice, so it would require an upgrade to our electrical service. We'd previously had Canter (which has some shared lineage with Tidal) perform about $4,000 worth of electrical work for our kitchen remodel, and were very pleased with the service. Given this was likely a $1000-$2000 job, involving upgrading the electrical service/panel, and running new circuits through the house, we called them again as they had our trust for big jobs. Apparently, Canter now only does power systems, so when you call Canter's main number and select electrical service, you get routed off to Tidal. No problem, we assumed we'd get the same professional experience we'd enjoyed from Canter, given the shared history and relationship between the two companies.
