About us
I am James Goodman from Raleigh, North Carolina. Carpentry and working with homeowners has been my passion since my first summer renovation job when I was a young teenager. My over 20 years of experience working with homeowners gives me real insight into how to complete a project that delights the customer.
James was absolutely incredible to work with and his work was/is outstanding. Everything we wanted was delivered in spades with James: skilled, meticulous, kind, courteous, considerate, and professional. He is special. James ordered and installed 129 oil bronzed, hand-forged balusters in our ~ 7000 sf home. We have 4 staircases and 1 long railing overlooking the 2-story grand room. The baluster replacements were the first upgrade/change we made in this house. Because of James, they were the perfect launch into home improvements. We have professionals in our home almost daily (our interior decorator is managing the remodel / renovations and is in and out with contractors, engineers, painters, window treatment seamstress, floor installers, etc). We have friends over all the time. Everyone admires and complements these gorgeous balusters. Not only stunning, they look like they are original, thanks to James' care and skill when he removed the wooden ones and replaced them. His patience with my decision-making was remarkable. So many choices and options and designs. He coached me with the online "sampler" so that I see all of the possibilities while honing in on my choice. Once I was absolutely confident in the choice, he helped me with the layout and that was critical. I trusted his artistic instinct and he was spot on!! It was so cool the way he helped me experiment with the many online styles and options, then as I was close to my final decision, he fine-tuned the pattern and I recognized it immediately as exquisite and elegant and perfect! Our interior designer -- who is absolutely incredible -- was / is so impressed with his work ethic, approach to customers, artistic eye, and what he did in our home. We plan to hire him for some outside baluster/fence work at some point. James is a rare find and we felt incredibly fortunate to have done business with him.
Description of Work: Replaced 129 wooden stair balusters with hand forged, gorgeous oil rubbed bronze wrought iron balusters.

James also immediately returned my first call. He came to my house, talked with me about what he would do, we talked about various options, and he gave me a ballpark estimate. Two days later I received the completed estimate and we were off to the races.
Description of Work: James provided a complete staircase renovation. My stairs were carpeted. He removed the carpet and rebuilt staircase with Brazilian Cherry treads. It is BEAUTIFUL!
