I don't like they way they don't deal with you once you get an estimate and pay the deposit. Once you tell them you aren't interested in extra work, you don't hear from them. This was two weeks ago when he was out here looking. Once they know you're a widow, they want to overcharge you for everything. I think it is awfully high. Update as of 04/20/15: The provider did return the $100 deposit and no work has been done yet by them but I feel like I can trust him more now.

Thomas was professional, punctual, and communicated well with us. We appreciated his expertise on helping us choose colors for several rooms of our house. We ended up choosing colors we wouldn't have through of trying. While we did not use Socaz for the actual panting, we were happy with how the colors he helped us choose turned out.

The color consultant came very quickly after I booked the deal. He worked with me to see what I liked, and then what was neutral enough to appeal to most buyers. I had already picked out another painting company, and when he found out, he put no pressure on me at all to get a quote from Socaz. I love the colors. I will use them again for color consulting when we move to our new house.

After a few reschedulings due to bad weather (they were very good about calling the night before) they were on time and came with a crew of 3 people. They carefully covered all carpeting and were neat. They were very efficent in getting the job done in about 6 hours. I was very happy with their work and their price was excellent. I also appreciated their prompt online estimate complete with proof of insurance.

They were excellent! They did a such nice job the first time, so we called them back when we had our pipes replaced. Our walls had been opened up to get to the pipes, and the plumbing people had spackled. We had Socaz back to repaint. They also had a color consultant come out and help us with picking a color. Thomas was our color consultant. However, we didn't take into account the amount of light that would be coming into the bathroom. Once they started painting the bathroom, it looked like Pepto Bizmol. I asked them to stop and redo it in a different color. They didn't bat an eyelash and didn't charge us any more. They weren't the least expensive but their price was reasonable. They're very reliable. Torrence was very nice, and we appreciated the ability to consult with someone who knew color.

Perfectly. The crew was speedy, professional, and the work was high quality all the way through. The crew arrived on time, covered the landscaping to protect the shrubs, then pressure washed everything they were going to work on. The prep was thorough, a lot of old paint was scraped off. The finished job left us with a crisp, clean exterior, including the landscaping around the house.

Did a very good job. Made as little dust as possible int the house. Very clean operation. Repaired some very old sheetrock, primed and painted finish coat. Took to days time as per quote.

The short version is that it was an absolute pleasure to work with Torrance and the Socaz carpentry and painting crew. I would not hesitate to hire them again, and recommend them wholeheartedly. During the estimating stage, Torrance met me at my house; he spent (as I recall) close to an hour walking around looking at the house in detail. I pointed out several issues that I was aware of, which I knew required attention, and he was careful to point out to me other issues that he noticed. He took photos during the visit, and prepared the quote once he was back at the office. The comprehensive quote was sent electronically; it included the photos of my house in order to carefully document the work they were proposing to perform, information about Socaz's valid business license, valid insurance, specifics on the surface preparation work that would be done, etc. I had interviewed 3 different contractors for the work, but there was no question that Socaz was the team to hire. (Side note: a fourth contractor who I contacted did not even respond until 3 weeks after my initial contact, and in their voice mail response called me "Katherine," which is not my name, me being a guy and all. I certainly look for contractors who pay careful attention to detail, and Socaz did so at every turn.) After I accepted the quote and paid a nominal deposit ($100 for painting, $100 for carpentry), Socaz gave an estimated start date of 8 December, conditional on weather, etc. They ended up starting a couple of days later than that, which is quite good. The carpentry team (one to three people off and on) worked for a few days replacing some hardboard siding planks with fiber cement, replacing a number of window sills and other wood trim pieces that had some rot. As the carpentry team was finishing up, the painting team arrived and began preparing the house. Reflecting on work done in the past, none of the other painting contractors that have painted my exterior were as careful as the Socaz team. The prior teams failed to seal all the nail heads on the hardboard siding, for example, which enabled water to get in and cause rot and delamination to begin on the side of the house most exposed to weather (hence the need to replace some of the siding). The Socaz painting team paid careful attention to these details, and spent a couple of days doing only prep work before starting painting. During the prep they scraped old trim paint that was peeling, spot sanded, sealed corners with caulk, sealed nail heads, spot primed, etc. This is a lot of tedious work. Then they painted, first the siding and afterwards the trim. (The Socaz team sprayed on the siding paint....some teams apply the paint with a brush. I have no personal preference, but believe it is easier to get full coverage via spray.) The painting team, which at one point must have peaked at 6-7 people, took several days to finish the work, and painted the siding, trim, shutters, garage door, and mail box post. There was one day during the job when it rained and they could not work. They were careful to cover an as yet unpainted area with plastic until they returned after the rain. I did a careful walk around at several points during the work. To the degree that I was able to check (without getting on a very tall ladder), I did not see a corner or nail head or piece of wood that had not been carefully treated. Now, this was the most expensive paint job I've ever paid for; HOWEVER, the house had not been painted in about 6+ years and required a good amount of carpentry work and more surface preparation than would normally have been necessary if: a) the house had been painted more recently; and, b) prior contractors had done a proper surface prep job. Obviously the cost of such work will depend on your situation, but it is a very bad idea to look for a cheap bargain. The price I paid for this particular job is completely fair and appropriate. I got my money's worth, and believe that, if you hire Socaz, so will you. Getting back to the question about whether or not I would hire Socaz again, the answer is absolutely, yes. In fact, I am already thinking about hiring them to do another project early in 2015.

I hired Socaz to paint the trim, walls and ceilings of 4 rooms. They had to remove wallpaper and repair the drywall in two of the rooms. They cleaned up every day before they left and were very respectful of my home. The workmanship was meticulous and the work was done exactly as we discussed during the bidding process. At one point, they painted the ceiling in one room several times because they were unsatisfied by the result. Torrence called me and said that they would get a better result if they used a different brand paint. He offered to cover the cost of the new paint even though he had already purchased the ceiling paint. This is a wonderful company and they do spectacular work.

We were very pleased with the services provided. The owner of the business came to our home and gave us a job proposal and an estimate of the work to be done.. Several days later a color consultant came and helped us select paint colors. The following day at the scheduled time the painters and job supervisor arrived and very efficiently prepaired the rooms for painting. They moved furniture, filled nail holes, placed tarps on the floors, etc. The first coat of paint was applied then the 2 painter took a lunch break. After lunch they returned to apply the second coat of paint. They proceeded to clean their supplies and return furniture its proper place. The supervisor made sure the was work was completed to our specifications. The paint job was done in a very professional mannor and we would not hesitate to use Socaz Painting again in the future.

They were very easy to work with. They showed up when they said they were going to show up and they did what they said they were going to do, and the price was reasonable. I would use them again in the future for my painting needs.

Socaz and Torrance (owner) did a GREAT job. Took the time to do a personal estimate, stuck to the numbers and I was very pleased with the outcome. Fantastic communication (daily end of day calls to recap progress on a 5-day job) and skilled and friendly crew. Nice work guys.

Tom was very professional and a big help since I was dreading having to pick out colors that would blend with the rest of the house.

I can't say enough good things about SOCAZ Painting. Torrance came to our home and went over everything we wanted changed and went over our color changes with us. He is very professional, helpful, and friendly. The crew arrived on time and again we went from room to room to make sure the colors for each room were correct. They completed the job in 3 & 1/2 days and the work was perfection. We couldn't be happier with the way our new home looks. We used their services about 4 years ago to remove popcorn ceilings from our present home. Again the work was perfect. We are using them again to paint our present home to get it ready to sell and I know that the work will be exceptional.

Torrance came out promptly to give an estimate. The wallpaper removal had a price range due to the difficulty being based on whether the walls had been prepped prior to having wall paper installed. The original estimate didn't include painting of the rooms once wallpaper was removed but the project went well and quickly and I was able to add the painting within the same original estimate. Two of the rooms with wallpaper had lots of patching required due to the lack of prep done when the wallpaper was installed. Once the walls were prepped, you would have never known they were a problem because the walls looked great. The work was scheduled fairly quickly and the crews were punctual and stayed until they completed the progress expected for the day. The crews were great - very nice, respectful, customer focused and the areas were cleaned up at the end of each day. I had 2 crew leaders during the days they were onsite. Both George and Lewis were great to work with. Torrance came almost every day to check on progress and customer satisfaction. We did have an issue with a toilet leaking but that was quickly taken care of and I was completely satisfied. Overall they did an excellent job (and I am very picky) and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. I won't hesitate to have them be my first choice when having additional painting done.

They fixed those and painted them for us. They did what they were supposed to do.

We had a very happy experience with Socaz. Torrance came to give a price and then we were lucky to get onto the schedule quickly as rain delayed their exterior painting schedules. Louis and Josh were prompt, professional, hard working and very pleasant to be around. We will most definitely be using Socaz for our future painting needs!

We chose Socaz Painting because their estimate was one of the lowest out of 4 different estimates. They also impressed us because the person sent to give the estimate (Torrence) was very professional and he provided a detailed description of what would be done and what we should expect as far as minor repairs in drywall, clean-up, etc. We had a lot of ceilings that needed to be painted white because the builder painted them the same color as the walls. This is a 2 year old house, so there wasn't much in the way of paint-prep or drywall repair. We also had them paint the walls of a tall foyer and stairwell area since special equipment would be required to reach those areas. We were very impressed with the professionalism of this company. They showed up on time and went straight to work. Thomas walked through the house with me to make sure that he understood exactly what needed to be done and he answered all my questions. They carefully covered all artwork, furniture, lights, floors, etc. before beginning and they worked quickly and quietly throughout the day. The following day, they returned on time to finish the job. Lewis and his crew did a wonderful job and he answered all of my questions. He was very helpful and took the time to go through the house and fix any issues that I pointed out or spots that were missed. His number one goal was that we were satisfied and happy with the work. The crew worked until everything was completely finished. They cleaned up everything and even mopped the hardwood floors prior to leaving. Painting can be a messy job and they left everything looking just like it did before they started. Lewis and his crew were fantastic and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company or to hire them again for future projects. The price was very competitive and the work was excellent.

We recently learned of Torrence and Socaz through the use of Angie?s List. We were extremely pleased with the whole experience, and results. Torrence is a pleasure to work with, and is prompt, organized, and involved. We have an older home in the heart of Raleigh, which brings a few challenges with the walls. Thomas, the colorist, did a fine job with recommendations in all areas. The actual technicians were efficient, timely, thorough, and did a good job on cleaning up as well. I would absolutely recommend Socaz, and plan to use them soon again in the future.

Never received an estimate. The initial appointment was canceled at the last minute, supposedly for "car trouble". I am very skeptical. The next appointment they wanted to come an hour or more earlier. They couldn't find my email and I spent two hours with the guy who never measured a thing and insisted every single surface would have to be painted and only would say it would be in the thousands. A complete waste of my time.

We were very happy with the work and the professionalism of the whole Socaz team. From the estimate, through the scheduling, to the clean up they were responsive and friendly. When they were finished painting they even patched up some places on our gutters for free.

I spoke with Melissa at Socaz Painting who scheduled an appointment with Thomas who showed up at my door as scheduled. He assisted me with different color choices for my open floor plan. He also assisted me with where and how I could transition the different paint colors which was one of my primary concerns. The professionalism I received from Thomas was outstanding. Very easy scheduling the paint job. Melissa was great to work with and easy to get in touch with. Offered to move up paint date when exterior jobs were delayed due to weather. Painter showed up on time and completed the job timely. Looks great.
