I didn’t use them because they were more expensive than all the other options that I had. My experience with them was okay. They were good for getting a quote. They show up and they give you a number. I don’t think I would use their services in the future.

Was very satisfied with interior painting, exterior painting, and some carpentry work. I contacted 4 painters with high reviews on Angie's List; Socaz was not the cheapest but not nearly the most expensive either. I chose them because of the four painters I interviewed, Torrance was the most detail oriented. In particular, Torrance was the only one to notice at the time of the estimate that there was much rotten wood in my chimney that needed to be replaced. Socaz started to do external painting by spray, but then switched and did by hand and did an additional coat (that was anticipated originally) when it didn't look like it was taking evenly. They also refinished and stained my deck; when there were some issues with the stain (due to resin from the wood after the sanding), they came out and re-sanded and refinished, again at no extra cost. The price ended up being higher than we initially talked about because they found out more carpentry was needed as they got into the job due to rotten wood around the chimney. Nonetheless, I was very satisfied, and Socaz seemed very concerned that the consumer was happy with the final product.

Everything went great. They cleaned up everything, they took 1 whole day instead of 2 shorter days, and the ceiling looks great. They took extra care to mimize damage to the existing wallpaper that we had elected not to have removed at the same time.

We did not use them because they were the most expensive of all the quotes I got. I was looking for duration and they said that the kind of finish we wanted could only be sprayed on, and that is incorrect. The siding, made of pressed wood chips, would have started to crumble if it got wet when they sprayed. You have to make sure that the seal between those boards is good and it would be too thin if you just spray it on. I was looking for someone to put it on with brush strokes so that the seal remains when they overlap. I would probably not recommend them because they were so pricey and they told me that it couldn't be done the way I wanted. They said that it dries too quickly if it is painted on, but I had got several quotes and all of them were for painting work with the brush.

I called to get an estimate on painting my newly built home before I moved in. Torrence and Thomas came out to get an idea of the job. Torrence is the owner, Thomas is the colorist. I felt very good about them, Thomas is wonderful with color and color ideas. Torrence told me that once I narrowed down my colors he would send me an estimate. He stated on Wednesday that the would have an estimate to me Friday evening. On Friday evening about 9 pm I sent him an email stating that I had changed the number of rooms that needed to be painted, I had decreased the job significantly and needed an estimate to reflect the new job. The next morning (Saturday) I saw that I had (2) emails from Torrence one stating that he was working on the estimate and I would have it by midnight and the second was the estimate. I was blown away! The estimate for a 2,000 sq. ft house was almost $6,000. This was also for the original job, he did not send an estimate for the modified job, he didn't pay attention to the email. This quote especially baffled me because I had done some research and saw that he had completed jobs larger than mine for far less; (1) he painted a 3000 sq. ft home for $2,700 and (2) a 12 room office building for $3,500 and both of these had other nuances such as trim, ceilings etc. included. I received (6) estimates total, five of them were in the same ballpark ranging from $1500 to $2,900 Torrence's estimate was almost $3,000 more. What bothered me the most however; was the fact that I sent him an email stating my concern about the excessive quote and he never addressed my concern, it's like he just dismissed it as if my concern was not important. I don't know if he felt that I was an easy target for price gauging or what but I can tell you that I am not pleased with this experience. He boast service which is good but inflated prices should not be a substitute for good service and with us being in the age of technology I think it is an insult for any business to believe that their customers are not conducting research.

I must say that every job is not the same. There are a number of different factors that goes into getting a job done right the first time. The preparation required in one bedroom is not the same required in another. We have an excellent record of providing a excellent service at affordable prices. We interview the customer to find out exactly what they want. If the customer wants LEXUS quality service we can provide that. If they want COROLLA quality service we can provide that also. However, it is impossible to provide the Lexus quality at the Corolla prices.

Torrance came out to give an estimate for major drywall and painting to rebuild our first floor after water damage. He seems to know painting well and seemed very focused on doing a quality job. We received many estimates. Drywall in particular was hard to find.We were planning to go with Socaz even though his prices were in the middle-high range of estimates because I trusted he would do a quality job. After the initial meeting, I joined Angies list and later asked him if he would honor his published coupon. He answer shocked and unsettled me, "If we are doing well on time I can give the 10% but I also do not want to lose on the job."To me that said that he doesn't really honor the coupon. I presume if I had said I was with Angies list when he did the estimate he would not have had an issue giving the 10% off, although he would simply have added 10% to the initial estimate. This experience has shaken my confidence in coupons on Angies list. They appear to be simply a ploy to advertise and don't indicate any real savings. His response also indicated uncertainty regarding how to do drywall and he gave an ambiguous answer about being able to patch popcorn ceilings. All the confidence and pride he exhibited in our initial meeting was destroyed. We went with someone else who was very good at drywall.
Description of Work: We had a good bit of water damage to our first floor and a followon repipe of the whole house. We needed lots of drywall holes patched, some walls, some ceiling. Needed the patches painted throughout the house, mostly individual walls and ceilings so that it you couldn't see the patch.

Response from SOCAZ PAINTING
I had already applied all the discounts I can when I did the estimate initially to give him the best price I can. As he said we were in thee middle range with price. I introduced him to Angie's list and he joined. He asked about our 10% off for members. I reviewed the estimate, it was a lot of drywall work which involves a process of a number of coat of drywall mud and sanding. This sometime is difficult to determine how much time it will take. At Socaz we have fixed pricing so we do not increase the price if the project is taking longer. The only way the price changes is if the home owner changes the scope and agrees to the change in price. After reviewing the scope of work I told the customer that I could not honor the coupon. However, at the end of the job if it went better than expected we will only charge for the time used.

AMAZING! When I contacted Torrance the first time for an estimate, he responded quickly. We met with him and were very impressed with his professionalism and his attention to detail. We also met with the color specialist who works with Torrance, his name is Thomas - so thankful for him. Thomas made suggestions that had not occurred to us. He is very kind and patient. The work was done with great care. Our estimate was lower than our actual cost because we had more rotten wood than expected. The carpentry was excellent. The team of employees kept our yard clean and neat, trash was picked up every day. We could not have asked for better results. Our home looks exactly as I had imagined! We are thrilled with the finished product. It was important to us to pick a company who was professional and trustworthy as we are often home during with day with our small children. We had interview another painter listed on Angie's List, but he was aloof and not nearly as detailed as SoCaz. We would definitely use this company in the future for any projects we may have. It was a great experience. We do not regret this decision in the least. I would strongly recommend SoCaz.

As usual, we sent a quick email to Torrance and he had someone here the next morning for a quick coat of paint in an office we're prepping for a new employee. Working with Socaz Painting is SO easy. They're extremely professional, always punctual and the work is completed with the best quality and a great price every time. Anytime we need something at the office or home, our first (and only) call is to Torrance at Socaz.

Mr husband called Socaz Painting on Saturday, 8/20/2011 for an estimate for an interior painting job when we realized we bit off more than we could chew. The owner came over within the hour and was able to schedule a crew to come that very day! Now, I realize we were very lucky, and no one should expect to call a painter at 9 and have a crew in your house by 11:30, but that's exactly what happened. The crew of three painters got right to work. The painters were prompt, polite, hard working, very professional, and did an EXCELLENT job. If Angie's List had a possible rating of "A+", we'd rate them that high. The price was reasonable. This was no easy job - the walls are 16-feet high. We are very impressed with Socaz painting. The crew finished three big rooms - all with high ceilings in a matter of hours - doing TWO coats. We highly recomment Socaz painting.
Description of Work: A crew of three painters painted three rooms, all with very high ceilings - 16-feet, applying two coats of paint in all rooms. They were incredibly efficient, and did an outstanding job.

Socaz arrived promptly at the arranged time and completed the repairs and new wall/door over a two day period. The results were excellent in that there is now no sign of any repair, and the door looks as if it had always been there. Even the paint matching was remarkable given the walls hadn't been painted for about 7 years, and we were unsure of the original color. I used Socaz for painting the external siding, and their work is excellent. They probably won't give you the lowest estimate, but they will probably note things needing to be done that others will miss. Highly recommended!
Description of Work: A water leak resulted in ceiling damage in a finished basement. The repair required punching a hole in the ceiling as well. We called Socaz to get an estimate for repairing and painting, and asked for an estimate to add a short wall with door in the basement. Torrance responded quickly and gave an estimate including materials within two days.

We received 3 or 4 estimates for this work. We were just delighted with this company. Their presentation was professional. We wanted the Williamsburg look, and their color consultant's input was invaluable. They workers were always on-time and cleaned up every night. They turned what could have been a messy job, into a joy to have done. They gave us a summary each day of the status of the work, and the supervisor would come everyday, as well. They lived up to everything that was in the contract. We liked them so well, that we are asking them to our downstairs. I definitely would recommend them. Additionally, we had three skylights that we hated, and they were able to cover them up, and you would never know they were there. They really did a lot of work, and it seems like a bargain. They were very hard workers who would even stay past 6pm working some nights.

The owner, Torrance is the one who initially sold us. The minute we started discussing our project with him we knew his crew was going to win the bid. They may be a little higher priced than some others but there's the very old saying of "you get what you pay for" and we know that we got the best deal in terms of quality of work. Our house looks great!!!!! There is only one word to describe the Socaz crew and that is OUTSTANDING! Every single member of the crew was professional and courteous and extremely good at what they did. One of the lead guys, George, is an excellent carpenter and he took care of everything that needed to be replaced/fixed, including railings on the deck. I also need to give some praise to their project lead, Thomas. Not only does he coordinate the work day but he is also spot on in helping one select paint colors. He's a delight to spend time talking with and you just know that he's got you as his top priority in terms of customer sat. I would strongly recommend this group and can't wait to have them back to do some inside work.
Description of Work: We used Socaz Painting for exterior painting of our house. However, as prep work was being done, it was discovered that we had some siding that needed to be replaced, which Socaz ended up doing for us. The entire outside of the house was painted, including the deck and the sunporch.

Our initial meeting with Torrence Socaz went very well. He arrived on time, was attentive, informative, and prepared to give us a cost estimate after a detailed discussion of what we would like to have done. I told him that I hoped the popcorn ceiling removal wouldn't be a horribly nasty process. Torrence was honest by saying, yes, it would create much dust, but his crew would do their best to contain it as much as humanly possible. And he assured me that furniture would be protected and closets sealed off from the residue. I told Torrence that I was interested in meeting with his color specialist since we were undecided about what color changes we might like. I cannot begin to tell you how much I personally enjoyed working with Thomas. He will tell you that he is passionate about color and he truly is! He gave us fresh insight (and brought lots of samples) for what colors schemes we might want to think about. Tossing around ideas made the overall process less stressful and more fun. We moved out of the house while the work was being done. A good decision! Torrence gave us a time frame of one week start to finish. And they met it superbly. When we arrived back home, and yes, I won't lie to you, the amount of dust that had floated out and was clinging to things we'd stored in our garage was well....pretty dusty, (rent a POD folks!) but inside the crew had cleaned up well and let me tell you, it is gorgeous. We couldn't be more pleased. The colors, the crown molding, to be able to look at smooth painted ceilings...it was worth everything we'd endured to get there.
Description of Work: Renovations for a 1980s era town home at approximately 1300 sq ft. Interior painting throughout (including a modest amount of drywall repair), for living room, dining and kitchen areas, laundry room, hallway, and two bedrooms. This included removal and refinishing of popcorn ceilings in living room, one bathroom, laundry room, hallway, and bedrooms. Crown molding was added to living, dining, kitchen, and master bedroom. Assistance at no additional charge of an employed color specialist. .

Torrance was prompt, thorough, courteous, and helpful.
Description of Work: Torrance came over very promptly to give us an estimate. In fact, even though he had another job scheduled, he made the time to come and give us the estimate on the same day that we called. He was very thorough in his estimate and explained his processes carefully. The products and services he offered were all high quality, and his price was fair. Another high-quality vendor won our business by a very narrow margin. The other company's acceptance of credit cards and offer of a 20% discount edged out Socaz. We are very confident, though, that Torrance would have done a superior job, and we will certainly consider hiring him for future projects, and we strongly recommend that others consider hiring him as well.

I have never been more pleased with any set of contractors or workmen. And these guys were in my home with me for many weeks repairing walls and painting! The attention to details, prep work to protect my wood floors, and clean up on a daily basis was bar none! I looked forward to seeing Thomas and Torrence, George and his crew. Everyone listened to what I needed, what I had concerns about before it happened, and answered every question courteously and realistically. There were few surprises and everyone did their fair share in making my home as comfortable as possible at night after they left; that was a huge deal for us as we went through the thick of wall repairs a week before Christmas. Torrence and Thomas made sure that the deadlines they promised were met and never skimped. While I could have paid less I am certain I would have suffered from an incomplete job. Thomas and Torrence surpassed even my expectations! They worked on my walls before painting them in a more than professional capacity and it made all of the difference in the world....had they just painted over with paint I would have hated the inside of my home! I will never work with anyone else again and would happily refer these guys to anyone who wants a top-notch job performed in a very reasonable amount of time with little inconvenience to normal living. I rarely get to work with people who really listen to my particular needs so these guys were a breath of fresh air to be sure!

It went very, very well. The estimate was wonderful. The owner of the company came over and gave us the price for the painting. He said there was going to be carpentry work and gave us an amount but said it could be more depending on what they were able to salvage. He said it might be possible to trim some ends off of some boards and be able to save the whole board. It turned out that there was more water damage than he was able to determine in the first go round because he wasn't able to determine the amount of moisture. We still felt very satisfied with the estimate because he did tell us what his considerations would be to salvage. Some of the other estimates were less on the carpentry so we thought they would have been much more once they were able to see the damage. We felt good on the price and they did a super job all around. One of their guys even fixed something on our mailbox that was completely outside the painting and it wasn't even added in. They went above and beyond. The price was high but very fair. We got higher quality paint than the other estimates. The price certainly matched up with our hopes and expectations for the job that was done. We were happy with what we got. They were very responsive. We would absolutely use them in the future.
Description of Work: I used Socaz Painting to paint the exterior of the house and they did extensive carpentry work. They replaced almost half of the siding because the house is 20 years old and the previous house painters replaced a board here and there but nothing extensive. There was quite a bit of carpentry work that had to be done.

They also found some miscellaneous repair work that needed to be done on my house as they were doing the exterior painting. His men did a good job on the picture but they didn't pay attention to details. I got a nice paint job. He does a great job at marketing himself and does a good job at follow up in the beginning. Unfortunately, he is hard to get a hold of in the end. I still have some finishing up stuff to do. The biggest issue was that his men weren't very good at cleaning up after themselves. He has a very good rating in Angie's List but I also noted that some other people also complained about him finishing up at the end. There was even some over spray that they never came to clean up. There was also a lot of yard furniture that they never moved back to where they originally were. His ability to close the job up at the end wasn't very great. I'm still trying to get some left over paint that he owes me. His guys did nice work, it's just the attention to the little details that really "wow" the customer is what he's missing. He tended to be a little pricey but he had a really good Angie's List rating. He also had a really good guy that my wife loved to help with color selections. I had no concerns with the quality of the work, just their ability to pay attention to fine details. I would probably still use him in the future because he still stands above most of the others that I have ran into, even with the issues that I have.

Torrance quoted me $2700.00 to paint the interior walls, touch up the trim and re-tape some of the ceilings. This price included the paint. They did a real good job. The men worked hard and were very courteous. Most of the time there was a supervisor (Thomas) on site. He made sure we were satisfied with the work. While the price was higher than other quotes, I feel we got more than our money's worth. I recommend them for anyone that wants a good, trouble free job done in a very professional manner.

I had Torrance do a small project at a residential rental property more than a year ago. He was so great to work with, he was the first call I made when we decided to paint the office. Thomas did an amazing job helping us pick a beautiful color pallette - EVERYONE loves the colors and not one person complained. The team was punctual, VERY easy to work with and they were in and out in no time. Their speed and willingness to work around our needs was amazing. Not only that, but they cleaned the baseboards (which were already messy) giving the entire office a facelift. Three thumbs up again for Torrance, Thomas and team.

Socaz Painting did a phenomenal job with this work. I scheduled a time for an estimate, and Torrence, who is the owner, showed up right on time. He spent close to an hour with me, walking through the house, looking at the ceilings, and explaining in detail the process he would use to smooth my ceilings. Torrence was very thorough in explaining everything to me. He gave me a written quote before leaving, and gave me a price range, with a "ceiling" price - a price that he promised he would not exceed, which allowed me to know that I would not pay more than that price. I decided the next morning to use Socaz Painting for this job, and they had several people on-site within hours to start prepping the house. They covered all floors and walls with plastic before starting to take down the popcorn. The entire process took about four days. Beware - this is a very messy process, and Torrence will tell you that up front. They cleaned up when they were finished, but do not expect a spotless house! They are painters, not housekeepers. They wiped down surfaces and vacuumed, but the process used to take down popcorn ceilings just generates A LOT of dust, and it will be everywhere, even though they cover all surfaces. Be prepared to do some cleaning when the job is finished. Torrence does have someone he can recommend to come in and do a thorough cleaning for several hundred dollars - I didn't take advantage of this, but probably should have, because it's a pain to fully get rid of the dust (I did this before I moved into my house, so the house was thankfully vacant when I had the work done). In addition to the ceiling work I had done, I got to work with Thomas, who is their Color Specialist, to help me decide on some paint colors for the house. He knows what he is talking about, so definitely take advantage of his services as well. I'd definitely use Socaz Painting again, and am considering having them do some interior painting for me as well. These guys paid attention to detail, and I'm really pleased with my smooth ceilings.
Description of Work: Removed popcorn (textured) ceilings from entire house (~1700 square feet), sanded ceilings and painted ceilings.

We had several painting companies come to our house to give us estimates. Torrance De Leon from Socaz was by far the most thorough. He spent the most time at our house and pointed out things that no one else did (for example - rotten wood that would have to be replaced.) We agonized over what color to paint our house and Thomas, Socaz's color consultant, was very helpful. He came out to our house on a Saturday to help us decide and then came back another day with Torrance to help us make our final decision. Thomas and Torrance are both very knowledgable. All of the Socaz employees were very professional and trustworthy. Torrance came to our house almost daily and was always available by cell phone when we was not at our house. When they finished the job, my husband and I went around to inspect everything and found a few minor areas we wanted touched up. Thomas came back himself to do the final work. We also had Socaz redo our screened-in porch floor. They use an amazing product (and I'm forgetting the name of it) that makes outdoor floors look as good as indoor hardwood floors. The first time they did it the varnish got smudged a little because we had a party later that week. They knew about the party and told us that if necessary they would come back for touch-ups. They ended up reapplying a whole other coat to the floor at their expense. I can't recommend Socaz enough. They do meticulous work and are incredibly professional. Don't think twice about hiring them.
Description of Work: They painted the whole exterior of our house, including the shutters, and front porch floor. They also painted the fence in our back yard. They replaced 2 spokes in our porch railing as well as some rotten wood under our porch. Socaz redid our porch floor (sanded and applied a really high-end varnish - can't remember the name of it.)

Torrance responded quickly to our request for an estimate. He told us in detail what would be done and explained the whole process involved in removing the popcorn from our ceilings and repairing where necessary as well as what to expect as far as the mess involved in doing this. His workers arrived promptly each day and were very couteous and did a beatiful job. They removed all ceiling fixtures and replaced them when the job was finished. Our house now looks so much better and up to date. When the job was done, Torrance went through the house with us while we inspected the work that was done. I would definitely use them again and recommend them highly.
Description of Work: We had the popcorn ceilings removed from 4 bedrooms, master bathroom, living room and foyer. They made repairs where necessary.
