SOCAZ PAINTING

I HAD A VERY GOOD IMPRESSION OF TORRANCE, WHO GAVE THE ESTIMATE, VERY PROFESSIONAL, AND SEEMED VERY DETAIL ORIENTED. EVEN THOUGH MY HOME IS OLDER HE WAS CAREFUL TO EXPLAIN THE DIFFERNT LEVELS THEY CAN ACHIEVE , AND I TOLD HIM I DIDN'T NEED IT TO LOOK LIKE THE WHITE HOUSE, BUT HE SAID THEY WOULD TAKE CARE TO MAKE SURE ALL THE SURFACES WER PREPPED CORRECTLY AND THAT THEY WERE CAREFUL ABOUT CLEANLINESS AND HE DID NOT SEEM TO BE INTIMITDATED AT ALL ABOUT THE EXTENSIVENESS OF THE VALANCES AND TRIM IN THE LARGE LIVING ROOM. I GOT THREE ESTIMATES AND WENT WITH SOCACZ BECAUSE OF TORRANCE.. MY FIRST DISAPPOINTMENT WAS THAT I NEVER GOT A CALL TO GIVE ME A START DATE. I CALLED THEM BECAUSE I HAD NOT HEARD AND GOOD THING I DID BECAUSE I WAS ON THE SCHEDULE FOT THE NEXT DAY AND I HAD A LARGE CUPBOARD THAT WAS GOING TO HAVE TO BE MOVED FULL OF CRYSTAL THAT NEED TO BE PACKED. SINCE I HAD NEVER USED PROFESSIONAL PAINTERS I HAD NO IDEA HOW MUCH I NEEEDED TO PACK AWAY MYSELF BUT I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THIS ANTIQUE CRYSTAL. THE CREW ARRIVED PROMPTLY AND I SHOWED THEM TWO AREAS WHEN THEY COULD PUT ANY ITEMS THAT THEY NEEDED OUT OF THE ROOMS BUT I HAD ALREADY MOVED OUT A LOT. I COULD TELL RIGHT AWAY THAT IT WAS TAKING LONGER THAN THE 3 DAYS THEY HAD ALLOTTED SINCE THEY WERE STILL THERE WHEN I RETURNED FROM WORK AT 5:30 EACH DAY AND WHEN THEY WERE NOT DONE ON FRIDAY I DID NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WERE GOING TO RETURN. COMMUNICATION WAS NOT GOOD THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS. THEY DID WORK ON SATURDAY( SO DO I) BUT I COULDN'T TELL IF THEY WERE DONE OR NOT SO I CALLED ON MONDAY (MY DAY OFF) SINCE I FELT THE HOUSE HAD NOT BEEN LEFT CLEAN, THE FURNITURE WAS NOT PUT BACK CORRECTLY, THERE WERE LOTS OF PAINT SPLATTERS, THE WINDOWS WERE PAINTED SHUT, AND THE GLASS PANES IN WINDOWS AND DOORS WERE NOT CLEARED OF PAINT. THERE WAS ALSO PAINT ON MY ROMAN SHADES, WHICH HAD BEEN REMOVED DURING THE PROCESS BUT SOMEHOW TWO OF THEM GOT PAINT SPOTS ON THEM ANYWAY. TORRANCE CAME TO THE HOUSE AND LOOKED AT EVERYTHING AND REFUNDED 10% OF THE COST AND WAS VERY APOLOGETIC BUT I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED AND IT WAS AN EXPENSIVE EXPERIENCE FOR ME. I HAVE DONE ALL THE OTHER PAINTING IN MY HOUSE AND I GUESS I WILL GO BACK TO DOING SO.

Price - toward upper end, but you get what you pay for. Torrance gave me an initial estimate for exterior painting and carpentry work (replacing a fair amount of siding and trim) that sounded reasonable, but when his crew came out to pressure wash the house, many more boards were identified that had to be replaced than were contained in his initial estimate ? therefore his price for carpentry work increased accordingly. I will note that $400 of the additional cost was found during the carpentry work ? this could not be determined until after some originally estimated work was performed. Power-Washing - James' crew arrived on time (the job had to be rescheduled based on the weather) to power-wash the house and were very courteous and professional ? so no problems there. Carpentry ? The carpenter, George, was very talented, experienced and thorough ? I can?t say enough positive words about him and his workmanship! He would arrive each morning at 9:00 and leave around 6:00 - 6:30 PM. He made good progress for a single person, but given the amount of work to be done I expected more than one carpenter to be on the job most of the time. Also dealing with larger pieces of hardiplank would seem to be more efficiently performed with 2 people. I asked him if he was ever going to get any help working on the house and he simply replied ?No?. (It turns out his helper had quit and they hadn?t yet replaced him.) The carpenter started on May 9 and finally finished on May 15. Prep-Work ? Alejandro arrived on time to start the caulking process the next day. Louis and his assistant, Darren, worked all day on the following day ? they all were professional and courteous. They did a great job. Louis and Alejandro came the next day to finish the caulking. Painting ? The painting crew arrived the following day and started taping and spraying the siding. They did an excellent job on the siding and then started working on the trim. The process took quite a while due to the size of the house and the uncooperative weather, but the end product is beautiful.

They were good and prompt. Our home looks great. They were very flexible and honest with estimates and repairs. It was an overall good experience.

We scheduled for a few weeks out. The painters did a nice job.

Socaz's representative gave us clear descriptions of what work was to take place. He updated us regularly on the progress of the work. We had let the trim on our brick house really go downhill and it needed a great deal of prep work to get it back in shape. Socaz sent some very hard working people who did a fantastic job of scraping old paint, caulking, and painting our house. Overall, they did a great job and I will call this company again when I need my kitchen painted.

So far, I was very pleased with their estimate but they've been a little bit spotty in-terms of following-up with me and setting a time to do the work. I'm reserving judgement and hoping they'll come and they'll do a good job but their communication could be a little bit more corrective and effective. They are suppose to come in two weeks to do the interior painting. I would recommend them getting a quote. When he showed up, he was very polite, very professional, knowledgeable. The company seemed really good but I've just been having a little bit of trouble making sure that I know when they're going to come.

It went great! The color consultant visited the week before the painters were scheduled to arrive and did an excellent job of helping me pick out my two colors. The painters were on time and worked very efficiently. The quality of work was fantastic. They left the work area in good shape. They totally transformed my great room and dining room by bringing it to life with a clean and crisp paint job. It did use the Angie's List discount. I will be using them again for my 2 1/2 bathroom remodeling project.

We were quite pleased with them. They were very pleasant, they were very detail oriented, we were just overall impressed. They helped with color consultations and they did a very thorough job. Their pricing is very competitive.

Very well. Socaz came right away to estimate, and their estimate was in the middle of those received. They were very helpful in choosing colors, and friendly and accessible throughout the process. Only glitch was that the carpentry ended up being quite a bit more expensive than the estimate, but they were up front about that possibility from the beginning. We are thrilled with the way the house turned out, and would recommend Socaz to anyone in the future. We will certainly call them again if we need painting done.

Never heard from them so I hired someone else.

The painters arrived on time and the color consultant arrived as well to check that the paints were the correct colors and review the details with the painters. They did the prep work on the walls sanding out rough areas and filling in holes. They put 2 coats of paint on the dining room, bedroom and hallway. Midway through the day the color consultant returned to gauge the progress and let me know that they wanted to complete the job in one day and asked if they could stay until the job was completed. I agreed and they completed the job and the owner came at the end of the day to review the work and lend a hand with the clean-up. I will definitely be calling them again to paint the last room.

The colorist visited the week before the painters, and did an excellent job of helping me pick out colors for both rooms, even showing me the color trends in our area on his computer. The painters were on time and worked quickly and quietly. The quality of work was very good and the painters appeared to take pride in their work. They left the work area in good shape. When a few drips were discovered after they left, they agreed to fix the problems. They also allowed the Angie's List discount which helped with the price.

I used Angie's List to develop a list of candidates to perform this interior paint job of a multi room office on a 2nd floor. Using Angie's List I narrowed down the possibilies by using the "A" grades and reading some of the references; using the process I was able to come up with a short list of about half dozen candidates. I sent email out to them (thru Angie's List web site) and was surprised to get replies back from most within a matter of only minutes. I scheduled times/days to meet each candidate at the site to start the quotation process. Torrance called to schedule a time to look at the office. He was prompt and very professional. Comparing him to many of the other companies I would have to say he spent an above average amount of time looking over the facility and gathering the necessary information. He even advised me on some ways I could save money and offered suggestions regarding the paint options. I received email quote from him within a day or so and made my decision based on his professional approach, the references on Angie's List and the price. His price was in the middle as compared to the others. I did not need to have this job done immediately, but they were available and scheduled it on a Saturday (which was nice for me). Also this was over the Christmas holiday so I was very surprised they would do the work at that time. The team arrived right on time and went to work immediately. The team leader, Thomas, was also very professional and helpful. Within minutes of their arrival it was obvious these people were there to work; they wasted no time getting their equiopment inside and initiating the job. They gave me an idea of how long it would take and I would have to say they nailed the time +/- an hour or so. The finished work looked fantatstic! I was very pleased and in walking through the office I realized that there was one spot in the bathroom that I had forgotten to even mention to them. Thomas commited to come back in a few days and touch up that spot at no addional charge. That's waht I call customer satisfaction !! I would recommend these guys to anyone. They do great work

The painters were skilled and did a very good job. I was just disappointed that the loop was never closed.

I purchased the Big Deal coupon for 8 hours of interior trim painting. The painter arrived on time and was very professional. He painted almost all of the paint in my house in eight hours. He did an excellent job. We couldn't be happier with the quality and price.

Socaz Painting was called and within a couple of days Torrance De Leon came by, measured the rooms and provided estimate. Crew arrived on time (9 AM), did walk through to confirm scope then layed protective tarps and hung plastic to protect the walls and control dust. Popcorn was stripped, debris removed and surface allowed to dry. Primer was appled to dinning room and living room ceilings while some spackling was required on the foyer and second floor hallway. On second day 2 coats of paint were applied to the living room ceiling. Foyer and second floor hallway were primer and 2 coats of paint applied. Final clean up was done by ~ 4 PM Friday and Torrance De Leon stopped by to inspect the job and finalize cost.

Some changes in initial plan due to unexpected issues. All employees pleasant and professional. Definitely will hire again.

It went wonderfully. We are very satisfied. Their website and email has educational tools to learn about painting, and they offer the services of a color consultant for free.

The project went very well. We were warned that the popcorn removal and then wallpaper removal and the sanding would be messy and it was but the guys did every thing they could to keep the dust contained to the upstairs. Torrance worked with me to ensure my project plan stayed on schedule since I had bathrooms being redone at the same time as well as having carpet removed and hardwood floors installed. He was very sensitive to the schedule and arranged to have a full crew at the house to kick start everything. Thomas, who is the project coordinator came by every day to make sure the team knew the day's tasks. All in all the entire team works very well together. The ceilings are perfect (so happy to be rid of the popcorn). The two rooms that had wallpaper taken down are now painted and the rest of the house looks great with freshly painted rooms. The staircase is amazing. The entire project was on time and looks fabulous.

Was very responsive to my inquiry about their service and request for an estimate. He arrived at my home on time, was courteous, very professional and provided a detailed estimate before leaving.

Ended up using someone else.

I contacted Socaz and scheduled my appointment in September. I received an email the Wednesday before my Monday appointment stating that they knew I called to schedule an appointment but they did not know if it was scheduled and if so, they needed to know when. This made me extremely nervous. On that Monday, although he was running a little late, the painter did indeed arrive and I told him the rooms and areas I wanted painted. He spent the entire 8 hours in my hallway painting the interior doors, trim and baseboards. I'm not sure if this was a reasonable amount of time for one space. In his defense, there were many areas to paint including a recently installed door that he had to calk and paint. I was disappointed with some of the quality of the work but he did a relatively decent job. His lines were not straight on the trim. There were areas he felt he could not paint properly because his brush wouldn't "fit" without painting the walls. I believe a quality painter should have been able to address those areas and done an excellent job. No one from the company ever called to see if I was satisfied with the work. Overall, I'd say I was pretty disappointed because I read so many great reviews about the company. Maybe my project was too small for them to really care but my home is actually over 5000 sq ft. I was hoping I would be so happy with their work that I could use the company for much bigger projects. Unfortunately, I will not be using them again.

I requested an estimate for interior painting. A rep came to assess the job but, even after two follow up phone calls from me, no quote was ever provided.

Torrence came to our home to provide a quote the day after we requested one. Other companies suggested we should sand, prime, and repaint all the trim in our home. Torrence suggested this may not be necessary and instead offered to only sand and prime the areas that were chipping therefore saving us considerable expense. He spent an hour carefully considering the job, we walked with him around to each room as he explained exactly how his team would proceed. We were able to schedule his team to come the following week and they completed the job in 1.5 days (our home is 1900 square feet). We would absolutely use this company again. Their quote was the most reasonable we got, the entire process took less than one week. Torrence is extremely personable and professional. The quality of their work is fantastic.
