Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning

I was extremely pleased with their job. They were on time to carry out the task as committed. The person, who installed both, did more than what I had expected him to do. Their services were priced slightly on the higher side, but, they never compromised with quality. I liked their services and will use the same in future.

Service Experts came out to perform the fall furnace maintenance work portion of the PLUS maintenance contract that I had with them. (First part of the contract was the spring A/C maintenance work performed in April). Scheduled time was between 10 am and 12 noon. They called me at 10:30 am to say that the technician was on his way and should arrive in 30 to 40 minutes. He arrived about 30 minutes later. During testing of the upstairs unit, he found the inducer motor (exhaust fan motor) was pulling twice the amperage than it was supposed to. Their estimated cost to replace the inducer assembly was $758.00. The rest of the systems (upstairs and down) were in good shape. As this was scheduled contracted work, the call did not cost me anything. I was not pressured into purchasing the replacement unit. He did warn me that the unit could fail at any time and it would cause the upstairs furnace to not start if that happens. The inducer motor/assemble is also known as the "Lennox Furnace Exhaust Venter Blower". I took the part numbers off of the current motor and did some google searches. Found that I could get the unit for $105 from Amazon.com plus about $10 shipping. Needless to say, I am going to find another HVAC company to work with. Rating reasons: OVERALL Experience: C - the maintenance was good, the technician was professional, but I have a nagging feeling that they are ripping me off on the price I am paying for their work. Price: F due to the over inflated price to replace a unit that will take 20 minutes tops to replace. Quality: A - The technician was very courteous, professional and explained what was going on with the inducer motor. Responsiveness: A - they worked with me when we scheduled the maintenance day. Punctuality: A - they came between the times we had agreed upon and called me when the technician was on his way. Professionalism: A - the technician was very professional in his manner and knowledge.

Service Experts attempted to ?sell? me a replacement circuit board for my Carrier air conditioner/gas furnace for $725 following a $104 service call. After a little legwork, I found another service that showed me that the part costs $250. He marked it up 20%, and installed the board for $390 total. I will not use Service Experts again.

They did a good job. Everyone was professional, proficient, and friendly.

We ran into a few problems, but they have been corrected. The problems developed shortly after the installation. About a month ago, the issues have been reolved.

They are a reliable outfit. They come when you ask and they do what you ask them to do. I am very pleased with them. I think the price is high.

We use them all the time for inspections on heating and air-conditioning units for clients that are purchasing homes. They are very honest. Their technicians are very knowledgeable. I have been pleased with their work. They are a great company. Their price is very good. I use them frequently.

They did the work in one day. It was right before Christmas and it was cold. We called them one day and they were out the next day to install the unit and had it running. The man who came out to talk to us about what we needed on the 23rd was Josh Pitts and he was very open and frank. He made a good presentation. The fellas who came out did not really come through the house, they came around the house outside and then had to come in a little bit to get to the basement. Basically, they did the job without being a nuisance, no dirt and no noise. They thanked us when they were finished. I absolutely use them again.

They were 10 minutes early for their appointment, which is a good thing! They were very polite and went through what they were going to do. Their price was very fair. I would hire them again.

I've been using them for 7 years. They are always on time. They wear the little booties when they come into the house and they get the job done. The people who call you are good. If they are 20 minutes out, they will call you and say that they are coming. You can tell that all of their people are trained in customer service.

They were fine. The technicians seem to be good, but I did have some trouble communicating with the sales guy and I also had a question out for him for over week and I still haven?t got a response.

The humming sound after the heat pump cuts off is still there. When Service Experts was here, it appeared the guy did a thorough job. I thought the humming noise would be taken care of after he replaced a $180+ part, but apparently that is not the case. I will have to call them back. Also, when they were here, I felt like I was dealing with a used car salesman b/c the guy kept trying to give me the price of the $180+ part with and without a maintenance agreement. He said his visit was only for the "winter side" of my system, not the "summer side". I don't know what the heck that means. I live in Raleigh, NC, and the seasons here are not that extreme. I would gladly pay someone to check out the entire system, heat and cooling, once a year. I'm going to shop around.

Serviceman did the requested filter replacement and heat pump check. However, he appeared very eager to sell us other things (a whole house dehumidifier, a crawlspace humidity controller, a "crawlspace package" and a sealant, in addition to replacements to the heat pump, which is working perfectly well. He told my wife about all the bad things that could happen if we didn't purchase these things. These strongly recommended changes totaled over $9,000. He also pushed us to purchase a service contract. The same company had done an overall check of our system about one year ago and did not recommend any of these things. We had the distinct impression that the serviceman was unscrupulous and was trying to "sell us a bill of goods." would not ever have this company work on our house again, as we could never trust what they suggested we buy from them. We were also uncomfortable with having that service person in our house.

2 years ago I got on the Service Experts inspection program because it seemed like a good idea. I paid up front, of course, and when the guy came, he showed me a little part that he said was worn (didn't look like it was), and I should replace it because it will likely 'blow out' soon, probably at the most inconvenient time, and could damage the system. He talked me into it and it was an extra $135--took him a few seconds to pop it in. A year later I scheduled the regular service, and this guy was very nice. But he also told me that the part that was replaced by Service Experts the time before was probably unnecessary and definitely WAY overcharged. He said I could have gotten that part at Lowe's for a buck or two. He told me he was quitting because he did not like to be pressured into selling customers parts that they did not need. He said there was a quota system that they had to fill by selling parts, and if they didn't sell enough parts they'd get their pay docked. I believed him. I will not call Service Experts(formerly Piedmont) ever again.

We had a yearly contract with them and they were excellent. They served us for 8 years until we moved.

I used Service Experts for 2+ years. I was on their service program. Everytime they came out for their free check-up on the warranty program they said there was something that needed to be done and it cost $200 or so- even when it was working fine. In my 15+ years of owning homes I never have had HVAC systems with real troubles, so I thought it was wierd. I declined most of their work they said needed to be done and it continued to run just fine. I felt like the service program (which I paid for) was a sales tactic to get back into my home to charge me more money. The last straw was in November when my heater was very loud and I knew there was something wrong. I am not lying when I say before the technician even took the cover off of the heater he said this is going to be really expensive- how would he know when he hasn't even looked at it yet. After opening up the heater he said some sort of fan needed replacing and I didn't doubt that at all. He quoted me almost $1000. I declined as I wanted to check the price with another HVAC provider before paying that kind of money. I called up Yellow Dot (another local HVAC company) and they quoted it at less than $500. That was my last straw with Service Experts.

They came out for sales presentation. The final proposal also included cleaning of ducts too. The installation went really well. I use them on a annual service contract as well. I am really pleased with this company overall. After the installation, I received a thank you letter from the president of the company. I did notice that they forgot to install the thermostat. So I called the president, and he had it fixed for me. Customer service is great there.

They are very clean when they come into my home. They always tell me when there is anything wrong or anything that I need to be preparing for. I give Service Experts all A's.

They were excellent. They were servicing our old unit and the service man missed something. I called them to inform about this and they gave us free service. I got a discount on the new heater. They were superb and great.

They honored the warranty. They got the job done when they said they would. They were very professional. I continue to use them because of reliability.

The Service Experts service provider called ahead as usual and arrived when he said he would. He did a thorough check of the A/C part of our heat pump. He then installed the digital thermostat per our request and per our service agreement there was a minimal labor charge and a good price on our digital thermostat. He was quite congenial and efficient.

Jason did a very thorough job in ascertaining the problem. Before he left, he made sure everything would be functional for the week until my new evaporator coil could be delivered. Shannon went above and beyond when installing the new coil. First, it would not fit into my attic space. He disassembled it and took it up one piece at a time. Then, it was larger than the unit that was being removed. Shannon basically overhauled the installation area in my attic to assure a proper fit and proper functionality. It was a hot day and very hot in the attic but Shannon worked hard to make sure the unit would function properly before he left for the day. My system is now more efficient, runs less, and cools the house quicker. I will definitely use this company again, should anything else go wrong. My main gripe is the call center. The after-hours call center does not seem local and possibly quite different from the people I talk to during the day. They seem to have to look up accounts by address which means I have to spell everything out when I call. On one call, it was literally 5 minutes before they found my account and finally began to address my questions.

Asked them if they could get someone out same day. Told, "no problem". No one showed up or called. Next day they called and apologized. promised someone between 6:00 and 8:00 pm. Again, no show, finally someone called at 10:45 at night. My wife told them she was asleep and it was well past the time they promised. They offered to call the next day, but my wife told them I was out of town and she could not take time off work. Finally called somone else who came on schedule.

My furnace stopped working and Blair came out to diagnose the problem and get it fixed. He found the issue (a part that I'd been warned about last year by another repair person) and spent all morning locating the part, going to pick it up and installing it. He also notified me about another potential problem which was very inexpensive to replace, but if it broke would require another service charge. So he fixed that for me too. Very thorough.
