First, they ship your replacement filters when it's time to change them, so it's a good reminder to change out the filters, which is better for the life of your HVAC equipment. Second, you don't have to buy in bulk and then find a closet to store a year's worth of filters in order to get them at a good price. The shipped price is about the same as I pay at Home Depot.
