SEARS CONTRACT INC

First salesman was extremely inappropriate in language, topic, etc. Had to tell him to leave my home. Was here over an hour and never measured the first thing. This was for replacing 2 hvac units in my 2600 sq ft home. Called back to his office and got no where with my complaints. I called home office Chicago, complained and was then met with concern. Another salesman arrived in short order, was professional and DID his job. His quote was the best out of 4 other companies I was considering. Once again, Sears dropped the ball and never even gave me a call back. There was pressure to sign immediately, which is something I was not going to do. HE "claimed" the TODAY price was the best and couldn't guarantee the price would be the same tomorrow. What? If you can d do the job today for x dollars, then you should honor that price within a reasonable length of time! , I was price, service and reputation shopping as well as doing research on Consumer Reports for the exact units that I would be purchasing. Ten thousand dollars is a lot of money and I was going to make an informed and well thought out decision. Ultimately Costco and Service Experts got the job!

One member of the Sears estimating team showed up on time, but could not proceed without his associate who was nearly an hour late. Once here, this person launched to into his very professionally scripted sales pitch, without once stepping outside to look at our old unit and see what the problem was. He asked some questions and in one instance, my husband gave an erroneous answer -- which I said I though was incorrect. All it would have taken was to step outside to look at our existing units (we have 2) to find out the correct information, but he never did that. Instead, he proceeded to come up with an estimate nearly twice that of everyone else's, based on this wrong information. He further tried to upgrade every part of the recommended unit to top of the line, despite the fact that we said we were not likely to remain in the house for more than 5 years and would not reap the benefits. When we refused to place an order immediately and asked for a written estimate, instead of printing out from this high tech laptop presentation, we got a scrawled, hand written note with a price. Will never trust them again!
