RTP Roofing & Siding

We hired RTP roofing to reseal 2 sky lights. The website says "free estimates" when I called Kevin, the owner, he indicated that he doesn't really come out for estimates he comes out to do repairs and proceeded to tell me that it would probably be $350-450. Being as I don't know anything about roofing I believed that was a reasonable price, and we needed it done. He arrived at out house at the agreed upon time the following morning, he went on the roof repaired the first skylight, he came down told me that the seals are bad and that we have high quality skylights with replaceable parts. After he repaired the second skylight he gave me the old seals. He told me that the roof only appears to be 6-7 years and looked to be in good shape and the job ended up costing the high end of the estimate $450 even though he was only here a little oven an hour. At this point he informed that his work is backed by a 2 year warranty. He asked me to write the check in his name instead of RTP roofing and said that he would send the receipt later that day. He asked for my email in order to email me the receipt. I never received my receipt so the next morning I sent him a message to inquire about the receipt. He responded a couple of hours later, rudely and said "I told you yesterday that it would be today sometime" I replied Ok.Thanks! 2 days went by and I still had not received my receipt so I sent him my email address just as a reminder. 4 more days went by and I asked him "are you going to provide me a receipt for your services and if not then I'm going to have no other choice but to write some reviews and the only proof that you were at my house is the surveillance footage and the check that was written in your name". 2 hours later he said "yes I will send it today sorry I've been extremely busy". I said thanks, no problem. He never sent the receipt and I didn't attempt to contact him again. About a month later I contacted him again, reminded him who I was, and asked him to come out as one of the lights was leaking. He responded "I'll come out and fix it if it's leaking" I said "when can you come, we are available tomorrow" he never responded. The next day I sent him a message asking if he was going to be able to make it out that day because it's leaking badly and causing damage to the Sheetrock that I had repaired after he "fixed " the leak, he responded "Not today, I will let you know" I responded back "- it's causing more damage and that since he lived close and was only here for a short time before if shouldn't take long and warranty work should be a priority considering how much he charged me--- no response. The next day I contacted him again and told him that if he didn't want to stand behind his a work and if it was easier that he could refund me half of my money since only 1 of the skylights was leaking and I told him that I would be writing reviews if we couldn't work something out. He responded that he and his family were sick and that's why he hadn't come out yet, I responded - that's all I'm asking and wished his family well- no response. We had no choice at this point but to have it repaired by someone else based on the damage that the leak was causing. A week later I sent him a message and requested half of my money back, I told him I could come get it or he could mail it whatever was easier for him. It's now been 2 more weeks and no check, no word from Kevin so I'm finally posting reviews. I would not recommend RTP roofing. The pricing was extremely high, he would not give me a written estimate. He said, he needed a 50% deposit now and would do the work the next day, other wise he would not be back. When I told him I needed to get at least one more estimate he told me he was going to put my name out and no one would ever do work for me again. I found someone to do the job at 1/2 his price. Its obvious why he has an F rating.

I wish I had read his reviews on Angie's list before hiring him. He is the most unprofessional person I have come across. After I showed him a few roofing & woodwork items that needed to be done and we agreed on price, he started complaining that he is doing this for practically. He did a extremely shoddy - just put flimsy caulk over rotten wood, put ugly looking uneven trim. Then lied about several things saying that he had done them when clearly had not. Continuously complained, made racist slurs against me, made threats. He give 2 year warrantly which is useless given his attitude and shoddy work. A really disgusting guy. Do not hire him

The first time he came, he was done in min (i think 5-10) and he said that its all fixed and I paid him. He said that I have a 1 year warranty and he would come back and fix it if its still leaking. But the leak was not fixed and it started leaking again in another 4 weeks or so and he came back and tried to fix it again. But again the same thing and started leaking again. After that, I have been trying to reach him but cannot get hold of him. Couple of times I did reach him, he said that he will come the next weekend but never showed up with some or the other excuse. I talked to him again last week and i was frustrated and started talking and he hung up on me.

Met with kevin he took a deposit of 4000 to do side my home and never showed up to do the work and will not return my calls.

It went very well and I was very pleased with his work.

My roof and ceiling are now repaired.

I was recommended by a friend, and when I called and set up a time to come out to look at my roof, he was very professional and on time. My time is very important to me because I am self employed. I also called someone else to come out to give me an estimate and he did not come out the day he had scheduled. I was very happy with the work.

It was perfect. He was on time. He gave me a good estimate. He was a continuous worker and worked very well.
