Renovaterepair sent a hard working crew who worked diligently to complete the job.  Our house had siding with a major rot issue (the original manufacturer had a class action lawsuit against it and went out of business) and was in bad need of replacement.  We secured three bids from area siding companies. One bid was significantly higher, one was lower than Renovaterepair, but we did not have confidence in the company.  Renovaterepair came to our home and explained the process in detail. They brought samples of the materials that would be used and walked us through the entire process.  My husband and I felt confident that they knew what they were doing and we gave them the job feeling comfortable that it would be done right.  We had a nearly two week rain delay in the middle of the project which extended the turnaround time of the job, but as soon as the wet weather cleared, they finished it on the schedule we had discussed.  The quality of the workmanship was excellent, and some of our neighbors commented to us that the job site was kept neat and orderly throughout. Whenever I called with a question, I received a prompt, courteous call back. I would highly recommend the company to anyone considering a siding project.

Our recent project with RenovateRepair replacing our masonite siding with James Hardie ColorPlus siding was a positive experience from start to finish.

George's presentation gave us a great lesson about the James Hardie ColorPlus product and process and gave us the knowledge to evaluate the other contractors more thoroughly.  We selected RenovateRepair because their proposal was the most detailed, their bid came in approximately 20% less than the next closest competitor and their payment schedule was much more favorable.

They were able to start a couple of weeks after we signed the contract.  During the project, as promised, George stopped by each day for a considerable amount of time to be sure that the work was on track and to address any concerns.  As a Project Manager, I admired how they were able to rearrange tasks to keep the work moving even on rainy days.   We are delighted with the results and are definitely looking forward to the "no maintenance" part.  There was some snag work to be done at the end, but that had more to do with some requested ancillary painting than the re-siding itself.  George happily fulfilled our requests, even when I asked for the shade of black to be changed on our front door.

We would definitely recommend RenovateRepair without reservation.

I have to say that this is probably the best experience I have had with a vendor.  The crew that replaced my siding did a fantastic job and the carpentry work was also very well done.  The attention to detail was stellar.  I called them back to check on an issue that I thought may have been a problem and they came out promptly and fixed my issue even though it was not related to the original work.  If you need this type of work done don't look past Renovate/Repair.  They are top notch.

George and Susan and their team provided top class service from start to finish of the project and went beyond what you would normally expect. We had worked with them before to replace sections of rotten siding, however, when we got to a point where it made more sense to replace it all we didn't hasitate to contact them again due to our previous good experience. George provided estimates for different options from just fixing the rotten wood to total house siding replacement, including options of using pre painted planks. When, we needed to delay the project to save up they were more than happy to do with no pressure. We got an estimate from another company which was significantly more than Georges estimate. When we were ready to schedule the project the team was very professional even though the weather was less than ideal, worked hard and long to keep on schedule and limit any wear and tear on the garden. When they found major water damage on the chimney due to the rotten siding, George came to point out what had occurred, why and what needed to be done and how much it would cost which was a great help. Once the project was complete we were walked through what had been done and a few minor issues were corrected immediately. George and Susan also followed up on a regular basis and when we had an issue in the summer where the heat caused the shutters to expand and warp came to fix them in a timely manner. Many of the neighbors mentioned how good the siding looked. We are so happy we worked with Susan and George and would recommend them without reservation.

We have always been very pleased with their work. They have always been on time to appointments. They took time to explain the repairs that were necessary. On the siding and trim in particular, I felt like they were careful to replace what was necessary, but saved what they could to keep cost to a minimum. Their estimates have always been accurate. Never any surprises once the work is done. They have gone out of their way to save us money on projects. They have made recommendations for some work that we had not thought of, but which made a big difference in the appearance of our house. For example, it was their suggestion we power wash our deck. I was amazed at the results. I have never felt that they made recommendations just to get us to spend more, but merely offering us the benefit of their expertise. I was particularly impressed with their perseverance when we had a water leak that damaged a wall in a bedroom. It can be very difficult to find the source of a leak like that. They eventually tracked it to a siding problem on our chimney, fixed the source of the problem, and made our bedroom wall look like new again. The quality of the work has always been top notch. The owners and other people we have dealt with at this company have all been very friendly, very helpful, and very professional. We highly recommend Renovate Repair.

We selected George and Susan's company to quote our project because of their excellent rating on Angie's list. And they deserve every accolade they have earned.  My family is new to the area and finding quality contractors has been a challenge. This was a $25K job, one time only, and we were concerned . You use electricians, plumbers, etc. over and over and if one doesn't work out you simply select another company.  But roofing and siding are one time, huge investments and the contractor knows he may not  see you again.

The house needed all siding replaced and we obtained 5 bids.  Renovate/Repair's was not the cheapest but we chose them because of George's professional presentation of the HardiBoard product.  He brought samples of the board, of the trim that would be used, of the underfilm material, everything needed to understand the job.  He went over the process from beginning to end to ensure we knew what we were buying.  He explained why each material was being used and it's purpose. The step by step was excellent as we could plan our activities easily, knowing what was coming next.

George provided several tips we wouldn't have thought of, such as removing art from the walls, even items attached to the garage walls, to prevent damage to our possessions. I especially appreciated this thoughtfulness as in our move several paintings had been damaged and I wasn't willing to lose any more.

Susan was very easy to stay in contact with, both by email and phone. She responded quickly, with full information, every time there was a question. She was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about our job.

The crew were the nicest, most polite workman I have ever met.  They treated our home with respect, cleaning up fully at the end of each day, asking questions if they had a concern.  No profanity, cigarette butts, no loud radio, they worked efficiently, with complete mastery of their tools. It was actually awesome to watch them.  They have clearly worked together as a crew for a long time and there was no wasted effort or goofing off.  Our new neighbor said he had never seen such a thorough, well done job.  There was almost zero wasted material from improper cuts or measuring.

They painted all the trim, replaced the existing gutters without a hitch.  The house looks stunning and it is clear George, Susan and their crew take great pride in their work and the satisfaction of their customers.  We will be recommending them to all we know for a superlative job.

George and Susan were a delight to work with.  They exceeded all of my expectations.  I got estimates from several companies. Renovate Repairs' estimate was the most detailed of all the companies.  The were the most professional in their presentation and explanation of the work that was needed.  The cost was very competitive. Some other companies don't really want to deal with the Hardie color integrated product because they aren't used to working with it and the special handling involved or because they have a paint crew that they need to keep busy.  George does mostly color integrated siding, so his crew is efficient at working with it. They didn't price the job up for the extra handling, as most of his competitors appeared to do.

The job came in as priced.  There were a few extra repairs that were needed (things you couldn't see until the job started-- we expected some of those). The change orders were reasonably priced and the work was well done.

The crew is very skilled, not just at siding replacement, but at carpentry work on the trim repairs. They paid attention to details.  They asked questions to make sure things were done the way I wanted them done. They kept the job site clean at the end of each work day.  They showed up as scheduled and finished the job in a timely manner.

I had a short punch list at the end of the job (much shorter than I expected).  George and his crew already had most of my items on their list and took care of them before they packed up.

I'm in the insurance business, so I see a lot of repair work done on my customers' homes.  In my experience, it's not typical that someone can say the kind of things about their contractor that I'm able to say about Renovate Repair.  I had high expectations, but George and Susan exceeded my expectations.   It was a pleasure to do business with them.  I'd definitely  hire them again.

My neighbor, who is retired from the construction trades and is very particular about how things are done on his home, watched them do the job on my house.  He was impressed with the work on my home, so he talked to George about doing work on his home too.

We obtained many quotes for replacing the siding on our entire house. Some were simply outrageous and others, while acceptable price wise, weren't convincing regarding quality and professionalism.  We then obtained a quote from George.  Not only was the price very good, we were greatly impressed by George's professionalism, demeanor and punctionality. He freely provided us with a list of customers they had done work for as references.  After a requested delay on our part and then weather delays, the work was done.  It took three weeks to complete.  George was frequently onsite and his crew was professional and answered all of my questions.  I'm a very picky person and when I did a walk around after completion, I was only able to find a few minor paint exceptions which George had the crew quickly fix. This was a very expensive job and I am very pleased with the results!   I would highly recommend Renovate Repair for any siding and paint projects.

Excellent work and very highly recommended.
George and his team resided our house with Hardie ColorPlus siding. They did a wonderful job. Their price was very competitive out of 5 bids we received. George took the time to answer all our questions, both before, during and after the process. Importantly, they were very fair when it came to pricing on additional repairs and changes to the original work order, and even corrected an error that we did not notice that reduced our price. George will give you his honest opinion, even if it means less money that you are spending.
The workmanship is top notch. The team took their time and we definitely got the impression that they cared about their work, and it showed. They are very responsive to even the slightest item. Due to timing, we knew that our siding job was subject to be rushed, as they had a full schedule of projects lined up after ours. Regardless, they took the time required to complete the job, and did not rush through or cut any corners.
I think that a telling example of their commitment is their response to a minor spot we noticed a few weeks after the job was complete. There was one spot where a small trim piece was missing. It was a minor point that all of us missed during the walk-arounds. I sent George and Susan a note along with a picture to show them where it was, and it was addressed right away. Many providers might ignore you after a job is done, or try to convince you that it is OK - but they dealt with it right away.
George, Susan and their team are highly recommended!

My husband & I had "shopped" for a siding repair company for some time and did get estimates from several contractors, but when talking to Susan, there just seemed to be a level of comfort I did not feel when talking to the other companies.  Contacting Susan or George was never a problem & the team of men they sent to our home for the repairs lead us to believe this was a very professional company.  George even brought the workers lunch one day - just another measure that they value their employees.  All went extremely well and yes, we would recommend this company to anyone.

All aspects of the project went very well. From the initial visit for the estimate and scope of the work; for example, the initial visit was on a Friday and the expected completion for the estimate was the middle of the following week, however, I received the complete estimate midday on Monday.  Once the work began, everything went exactly as expected; the technicians who did the work were very professional and the quality of their work was outstanding. Everything was completed within the agreed timeline, in fact it was fully complete one day early.

The house looks amazing and the quality of their work will pay great dividends for years to come!

This project went well.  I contacted George back in March about looking at siding repairs and new windows.  He was in fact the first contractor to come out and look.  His first comment was "This is not a full house reside".  The siding team and paint crew worked hard.  Site was left cleaned up every evening.  We were a smaller job for them and when we signed the estimate were told we would start soon and within a few days they started siding.  Siding work spanned a weekend and house was left in good shape to take some weather.  Project was completed pretty much on time with a minimal punch list, and on target.  The original work estimate was right on the money with a few additions, and even a subtraction for work that did not need to be done.  George and Susan do a good job managing their teams.  No one looking to pad the bill.  I would be pleased to hire them again.

George and his crews were great to work with on this full house residing project.  George was very responsive by phone and was willing to answer all of our questions.  He was very accurate with his time frame predictions and provided items on time.  His crew was great and worked very well.  We had no problems getting things fixed like a discolored board above the garage.  The clean up was very thorough - they even cleaned all of our exterior windows by hand.
We were very happy with the job and would recommend Renovaterepair.com without hesitation.

For each of our four projects, we have had fantastic communication with the company.  They are very prompt in coming to the house to talk about our visions and quickly providing an estimate of cost for the projects and getting us onto their working schedule.  Before our very first project with Renovate Repair, we had talked with several companies in order to get estimates.  Renovate Repair had competitive pricing and was much more thorough about the details of the project, making us feel secure with our decision to use them!  Our satisfaction with all previous projects makes us look forward to working with them in the future.
Project 1:  Susan came out to the house to discuss a change in color for our living room.  Previous home owners had chosen dark brown with a deep red accent wall, resulting in a dark room.  I didn't know much more than I wanted to brighten the room using a light blue color, and Susan was able to help me figure out what would look best in the room taking in account how much light was coming in as well as what would match the flow of the house. The accent wall (with fireplace) now has two blue tones separated by a chair rail and the other three walls have two shades of tan/cream.
Project 2:  We discovered swelling around nail holes in the masonite siding of our house. George and his crew explained the extent of the damage, and we decided to completely replace the siding with hardiplank.  During this project, structural damage was found to our chimney under the old siding.  Instead of simply covering up the found issues with new siding, the crew gave us options on possible solutions to what was found.  After the siding was complete, we had an unexpected delay with HOA processes needed to approve our new paint color, so Renovate Repair worked with our unpredictable schedule.  Once we had the green light from the HOA, Renovate Repair came back out to complete the exterior painting, including siding and trim.
Project 3:  My husband and I did not have a ladder remotely tall enough to paint the foyer of our house, which has walls that connect to the staircase and wrap to the upstairs hallway.  We decided to hire Renovate Repair for this painting project instead of tackling it ourselves and we are very glad we did!  They were able to complete the project in one day and paid close attention to detail.
Project 4:  Our most personal project to date was creating our daughter's nursery.  I had found several features that I wanted in the room through online searching.  I provided Renovate Repair with various pictures (a dining room, a bedroom, etc) and asked them if they could combine my favorite elements into one room.  George and Susan both came out to make sure their plans and measurements were precise and exactly what I was wanting.  The crew was able to add a beautiful chair rail with shadow boxes underneath.  They also repaired dry-wall issues in the room before painting the walls, ceiling, doors, trim, etc.  The attention to detail on this project went above and beyond what we had hoped for!

George & Susan were a joy to work with from beginning to end.  We highly recommend them and will definitely call on them the next time we need any work done to the exterior of our home.  George was punctual and thorough when we asked for an estimate.  We thought the estimate was reasonable so we asked them to proceed with the work.  Now that the work is done, we are even more convinced the prices charged were very fair.  They showed remarkable flexibility in finding a time to do the work that was mutually agreeable.  Their people were very professional, gave excellent attention to details, and cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day.  When there was a situation with multiple solutions, Susan carefully explained the pros and cons of each option so that we could make a well-informed decision on how to proceed.  When we had questions, they really listened and provided good information.  When we mentioned something that was not quite right, they immediately addressed the issue and made it right.  George told us he had a fine crew that he had worked with for years and we agree.  Both George and Susan have an excellent rapport with their crews.  Again, we highly recommend Renovate Repair.

Our original plan was to have Renovate Repair do a few exterior repairs and then paint those repairs.  Before the project began, however, we requested an estimate to paint our master bedroom walls and ceiling; as well as repair and paint the ceiling in our kitchen.
After seeing how they handled our master bedroom and kitchen, we added painting the family room ceiling, as well as painting the walls, trim and ceiling of the upstairs hallway, master bath, guest bedroom, guest bath, and study.
When the crew finished painting one of the rooms, we realized we hated the color we had chosen.  We discussed our concerns with Susan, and she suggested that we determine a color we really loved, so my wife brought out her favorite outfit, and asked if it could be color-matched.  Within an hour, the room was being re-taped and re-prepped, and the crew started over.  I think it?s significant to mention that the room has a wall of built-ins and cabinets with wall surfaces at the back, so this was no small issue.  The room looks great!
We were so extremely pleased with the interior job, that we then asked for an estimate to include not only the original repairs to the outside of the house, but expanded it to painting the entire exterior of our home as well.  The quote we received was fair, so we modified the project again, and I have to say, the house looks brand new!
We made a lot of changes to our original plan, which probably increased  the stress level for everyone working on the project.  Despite this, our requests were kindly accommodated and executed with utmost professionalism and attention to detail.
We would hire them again without hesitation.

For items 2, 4 & 5- the quality of the work was outstanding and the finished result was beautiful.
For items 1 and 3, that was unfortunately not the case. The interior painting (round 1) was done over the period of a week after it was complete, clearly no one walked down the work.
Some rooms/edge work was beautifully executed but the bulk was not. Edges were terrible so bad such as they were obvious across the room. Hardware was painted on (towel racks, paper towel holders, etc). Paint on glass not removed (ever, I did this myself after the third time they had come back), tape pieces left in trimming. Painted doors closed- opened it and the paint ripped off. Paint drops left on the ceramic floors and on the hardwoods. I got it off the ceramic myself and I have no idea how to get it off the hardwoods without stripping.
The shelving modification looked absolutely horrible and the terrible edging paint job on top made it look like a 12 year old did it.
I got a bill in the mail, but no one followed up with me on the end result. I paid the bill and I contacted the owner and asked her to come to the house and walk it down with me. She did and promised they would correct everything; she was very professional and agreed the end result did not meet her standards either.
It took WEEKS to get them scheduled back in. I get that they had other jobs and it wasn't that they were avoiding doing it, they were busy but during this time I left the house in disarray waiting on the corrections before putting the stuff back on the walls, shelves, etc. My house was in an embarrassing state and the
The second visit, a lot of things got corrected (better, not ideal) and the shelving modification was "corrected" as discussed. But the veneers were put on CROOKED! The shelf at eye level started higher on the left and finished low on the right as compared to actual shelf. It just had to be level with the shelf!
Again. Clearly no one walked down the work when it was complete. I was so frustrated at this point, I asked my husband to deal with it. It did on the 3rd try get fixed.
After this I got a step stool and a ladder and scrapped all the paint off the windows in the kitchen myself and removed the tape painted into the floor trims as I have noticed it.
I am giving the review overall a C. That's because I would rate items 2, 4 and 5 as A and 1 and 3 as an F.
That said, I will say I would absolutely use this company again to do any and all of my exterior work (we used them two years ago to replace the deck and they did an outstanding job) and I do recommend them for that type of work (and highly!).
But for interior work, absolutely not.

Response from RenovateRepair.com
"When the homeowner and I walked the project, I made copious notes to insure that all of her concerns were properly addressed. Some of the issues stated above, however, were not discussed when we walked the project, and were not noted by me when I performed my own inspection at the culmination of the project. We agreed to coordinate the interior touch ups with the exterior staining of a large deck and two out building, so weather was also part of the dynamic. In an effort to create as little inconvenience as possible for the family during the course of the touch ups, she and I agreed on two weekends when the family would be out of town. It was a complex, week long project with eighteen colors. The two-story living room had very little natural light, required scaffolding, and was particularly challenging, due its open concept. Additional areas of the house were added at the last moment, and that increased the level of difficulty, as well. The original support pieces beneath the existing built-in shelving unit bothered the homeowner from an aesthetic stand point, so we discussed adding visual interest and presence by attaching trim to the fronts of the shelves to hide the support pieces. After the trim was installed, I noted that it didn’t appear properly aligned, and discussed it with the crew member, who is also a carpenter. He explained that the shelf itself was bowed at both ends, and now that the trim was attached, the defect had become obvious. When I spoke with the homeowner, she asked that an adjustment be made to the trim, and that was done. We also extended the support pieces beneath the shelving, so they’re abrupt end was no longer a visual issue. The homeowner was not charged for any work performed on the shelving unit. Errors occurred, and steps were taken to correct those errors. I sincerely regret that we were unable to resolve the issues to the homeowner’s satisfaction, despite our efforts."

A good experience.  First, this was a bit of an emergency as when the dry rot was visible it was extensive, and I was fortunate that the kindly RenovateRepair folks helped me out by fitting me in between jobs.  Very nice people, and all interactions felt transparent, honest; they were very responsive, remarkably so considering how busy they clearly are. Good quality work.  Job took longer than estimated; I think original estimate was optimistic. I would definitely call RenovateRepair.com again if I needed this kind of service.

This was the best contractor experience I've ever had!!  The work was done with a high level of quality and care, but RenovateRepair considers that table stakes.  Since we had no idea what to do with the kitchen other than to get that old paper off the walls, we needed some friendly advice and recommendations - what color paint?  Does the lighting need updating too?  Susan was more than happy to provide her input when asked, and what we consider a gorgeous product is entirely due to her expertise and guidance.  Some of the scope creep recommendations required her team to redo work that had barely dried, but all was done quickly and professionally.  Susan spend a great deal of time looking for light fixtures for us and providing catalogs for us to search ourselves even though this was not part of the work we were paying for.  The experience was more like having a friend with a crew of talented artisans than a hired contractor.  The work may have ended a month ago, but I got an email the other day just making sure that I'd made final lighting choices and that I was still happy with every bit of the work they had done.
This was the second time I'd asked RenovateRepair to work on my house.  The first time was on the outside and I was equally thrilled with the work done to replace my front door, rework my dormer windows and fix fascia board.
Two things are clear:
1.  I will do no work on my house without calling RenovateRepair.  If they don't do what I want themselves, I know they will recommend another Angie's List award winner with whom they've worked.
2.  I will recommend RenovateRepair to anyone I know who needs work done on their home - inside or out!!
Thank you, Angie's List, for sending them my way in the beginning.
