Mitch et al built most of the furniture in our home. The latest has moved up in our list of favorite pieces. My husband and I saw dog crates built from reclaimed wood. We approached Mitch with a picture and the idea for what we wanted and once again they 'WOWED' us! See for your self!

This was a very disappointing experience. When I ordered an extension for my desk I was promised a two-week turnaround but the furniture did not arrive for eight weeks. The delay was due partially to their mistake in building the piece backwards and having to start over. I initially asked that the teak veneer on my desk be matched as closely as possible but no one bothered to take a desk drawer to use as a sample. I agreed to have the piece made out of ash because of its lower price, but I was never told that the wood would not be smooth enough to be a writing surface. In addition the piece developed a crack within a week of its arrival. In an email to me the owners claimed no responsibility stating that furniture can crack when there are "drastic environmental changes". This piece was moved from their workshop 14 miles, just to the next town. What environmental change? In all of my years of owning fine new and antique furniture that has been moved in and out of state several times, I have never experienced any cracks in any wood. They did offer to epoxy the crack which would discolor the area around it and suggested, as an option, to sit and wait to wait to see if the crack got bigger. The owners pointed me to their policy which reads: "we do not accept returns or refunds based on the nature of solid wood-this includes stress cracks . . . " They go on to say that to repair the piece would cost the same price as what I was originally charged. Too bad they didn't show me their policy list prior to my ordering the piece; too bad I didn't think to ask. Too bad that people now have to worry about hand-made furniture cracking.

The design of my set was great and the quality of the piece is fantastic! However, it was delivered a few weeks later than agreed upon. Their customer service is great in that they explained all my questions about the set and came out to repair it when it chipped.

We were disappointed to find that NC ('the furniture capital of the United States) had mostly chain or European and Asian import furniture. Prior to finding Refab Wood and the Alexander brothers (Mitch and Paul) we learned a lot about furniture quality and construction. The day we walked in the front door of Refab Wood and spoke with Mitch we never looked elsewhere. Prreviously, we took photos at a major upscale chain for a modern bed frame style we loved. The modern platform bed frame in the design showroom was exactly what we were looking for and we shared our pictures with Mitch. We then sat at a computer, where Mitchell mocked up the dimensions and design and created our own piece with modifications that we loved. We went to the work area and picked our wood and stain which remarkably arrived exactly as we envisioned them. We did the same with our dining room table and guestroom bed frame. Mitchell and Paul Alexander and their team are the real deal, as they say. You couldn't find a group of woodworkers that work harder and have the building history, passion and training for their craft. Refab Wood's design team is made up of young people who are old school in their approach to building and customer service. The Alexander's are third generation furniture builders. A small business, they were patient and helped us create beautiful pieces. Our dining room table and 6 chairs are an absolute work of art! I wake up every morning and say, "good morning table" as I leave my bedroom where the other magnificent piece they built-our bed is located. Both were designed from reclaimed wood from an old barn that was dismantled in Virginia. When I say they are sturdy-I've actually never experienced furniture of this quality (accept old antique pieces that were built by hand). The artwork and design and precision are absolutely priceless. In addition, they built our coffee table and the bed for our guestroom. Whether you like 'farmhouse' style, rustic or modern furniture Refab Wood and their team have the flexibility, design ingenuity and talent to design one of a kind masterpieces to your individual needs. We are so happy we found them! (Note: they also built our coffee table) We're sort of addicted :) as we decided to have them build one more piece - a bar stand for our entryway that we are currently working with Mitch on designing.

Mitchell and his team were incredible and I would hire them again in a minute. They are not the cheapest out there, but you get the quality you pay for and I know the table they built will be passed down for generations to come. My husband and I are tough customers as we have high-quality expectations and Mitchell and his team delivered. The communication was easy and straight forward. Building custom takes time, so be patient as it was worth the wait!

He was extremely punctual, completed the project within the time frame quoted. I was actually quite surprised how well the color and texture was matched to my bedroom furniture. The dog crates were originally a glossy finish and he made them a tope/matte, distressed finished.

They hand manufactured both pieces which turned out gorgeous and the envy of everybody that has seen them. They did an absolutely stunning job on the dining room table and came in under the original budget. I highly recommend them. The furniture they made for us cannot be bought from any of the furniture stores which sell imports and mass manufactured goods and it was cheaper! We now own two beautiful pieces of hand crafted furniture manufactured from local reclaimed wood that was made by local craftsman. It doesn't get much better than that.
