The work was fantastic! Raleigh Waterproofing did an outstanding job. The crew was prompt and worked very quickly. I was very impressed by the clean-up afterwards too--not only did they clean the yard, but they spread grass-seed and hay on all of the parts that were (unavoidably) affected by the work. Better still, when a torrential downpour exposed the pipe and revealed a flaw in the initial drainage system, Raleigh Waterproofing came out immediately to clean up the washout. They then improved the existing drainage further, at no extra cost. I am very happy with Raleigh Waterproofing, and will recommend them without hesitation to anyone I know who needs drainage work done.
Description of Work: We had a significant drainage issue on our property. Raleigh Waterproofing built a retaining wall, installed new drains, ran drainpipe to the street level, and connected all the gutters to that underground pipe.

My husband and I thought the water we had in our basement was due to a crack in the foundation. David Hawkins came to look at the issue. When we told him the leak occurred after we used the hose. First he asked us to turn on the faucet. Although the faucet leaked onto the ground there was no water in the basement. However, when he attached the hose to the faucet and turned on the water supply there was significant leakage into the basement. David thought we probably had a cracked faucet. He called a plumber who he recommended, CTP Plumbing. The plumber came out the following day and replaced both our outdoor faucets. The plumber showed us where the crack was in the faucet. My husband and I are very grateful to David for taking the time to diagnose the problem and recommend a good plumber.

I'd highly recommend Raleigh Waterproofing! Work was done as scheduled, despite "oppressive" heat. My ?s were answered by their EXTREMELY pleasant "rep", Jim Bradshaw. Not sure how their pricing is vs. other companies, but I'm a strong believer in "you get what you pay for"!

David came to the house, evaluated the problem, came up with a written design to solve the entire problem and gave us a fair quote. The team arrived on time, dug the trenches, laid the pipes, installed the drain boxes, attached the downspouts in two days. The latest torrential rains were a great test and the system worked exactly as planned. Professional and efficient, i cannot recommend them highly enough.

They are a very good contractor that I would definitely use again and recommend. We have a 50 year old house. It is a project house we bought, that we live in now. If you want it done right, you call these folks. They are not your typical residential house contractor. I am a project manager, I do designing construction. I manage the projects for another company, so I deal with a lot of old buildings there. They were actually one of my contractors. I actually used them at work. The workers were all good.
Description of Work: They waterproofed my basement. They had to do some excavating around the basement. They also did some general contracting work to repair some rotten and termite damaged floor joists. It was between the basement and the first floor. They cut that out and replaced it with new treated wood.

I wouldn't give them a good grade. It was far out of line. They suggested doing much too much in terms of the problem, which was the question of some water under our house. We have a close crawl space and it turned out that the situation was not anything like as severe as they had suggested. Price was way out of line. Their interpretation of the problem, I thought, was not correct. That was not adequate either. I think they were trying to define the problem in a way they could make a lot of money, to be perfectly frank.
Description of Work: They have done one job for us several years ago and we had them look at a problem several weeks back but we didn't choose him to do the work. Raleigh Waterproofing Inc did an estimate for us.

Dear, Mrs. [Member Information Removed], I'm sorry to hear you were so disappointed. I was a bit surprised with your review from the quote we provided to you in May of 2016. The quote was for $1200.00 to rework your positive drain and to seal up the band on the inside of your home with spray foam. The price seemed in line for the type of work we do. Please accept my apologies for your disappointment with Raleigh Waterproofing. Your review is not the norm for us. Sincerely David Hawkins President Raleigh Waterproofing Inc.

They did a good job. I was just really happy with what they did. I interviewed three contractors before them to do the work the way I wanted it and he was the only one that could do what I wanted them to do. They went above and beyond. After they mulched around the house, they asked me to go buy some plants and they would plant them for me. They just wanted to do it for me. They were really good. I'm using them in my business now.

The guys came out during a torrential downpour but managed to excavate around the foundation underneath the house and install a drainage system that flowed into a sump pump. When they left there was absolutely no sign that they had been there. Even though it was too wet to re-install the moisture barrier, the soil underneath the house was already dry by the time I got home.

Ms. [Member Name Removed], I'm sorry that you were so displeased in the evaluation given August 2015 by the prepaid program set up through Angie's list Deal ID #412215 $49 for a Foundation Inspection and Preventive Watering Plan Plus Credit. When I looked back over the notes when we set this up for your we had the following notes on the the calendar. "Available anytime just want to get this done quickly so we can find out if there are any methods to get the moisture out from under the house and if there are sinking foundation issues." We are very sorry you were not satisfied with the results of the inspection if you would like a refund of the $49.00 please let me know and will send a check to refund the entire $49.00. The clogged storm water drain pipes on our property had developed several break-out points resulting in major leaks during rainstorms. These leaks (miniature geysers, really) over-washed our front and side yards, eroded the soil and washed red mud, grass and mulch over our driveway. On the side yard, the leaking from the break-out points was so strong that our heavy stepping stones were moved out of place and mulch was completely washed away. Repairing these pipes would be a major, messy project. Raleigh Waterproofing, Inc. (May I call you RWP?) provided a clear, detailed estimate for the project, including the tree removal contractor?s portion of the project as well as three cost estimates based on what was found once excavation uncovered the pipes. (RWP located an excellent tree removal sub-contractor and totally facilitated that part of the work ? one less task for us to deal with.) The work began on time (actually commenced early to get a head-start!) and proceeded efficiently even with the surprises that always surface with any project ? unearthing completely soil-compacted 18? concrete pipes (imagine concrete Tootsie-Rolls), working around 50-year old hardwood tree roots that would not yield plus wrestling with octopus-like bamboo roots! RWP was diligent and resourceful at every turn; the crew was dedicated and extremely hard-working throughout the project. The owner was onsite regularly and responsive with excellent follow-up including replacing two damaged laurel bushes without any prompting from us. Highly commendable was the owner?s initiative to clean out as many pipes as possible (harsh work!) rather than replace them as a cost-saving measure as well as connecting two smaller drain pipes not part of the original estimate. At the end of this major, messy project, we all breathed a sigh of satisfied relief. A huge job well done. We could not be more pleased with Raleigh Waterproofing?s skill and performance. Kudos!
Description of Work: Excavated approximately 100+ feet of clogged storm water drainage piping ( 18” concrete pipes) from the front of our property to the storm water drainage ditch at the property rear; removed and cleaned as many clogged pipes as possible and replaced with new pipe where necessary. Created a new drainage outlet to the drainage ditch (where no outlet had existed before), installed a large drainage flange and re-inforced the outlet with rip-rap. Back-filled the excavation with new and existing soil then graded, leveled, and re-seeded the entire site - including laying down protective grass matting and heavy tarp where necessary to prevent further erosion. Facilitated and arranged the removal of major trees and brush on the property in preparation for the excavation.

We had a lot of drainage issues in the yard and in the crawlspace that we lived with for years before getting quotes and opinions from a couple of different companies. Raleigh Waterproofing's solutions were the ones that made the most sense for dealing with the water and the price seemed fair for the substantial amount of work. Other groups insisted we needed to completely seal our crawlspace and I very much appreciated that these guys offered a different and less expensive option and that they were honest that we didn't really need a full seal (which is much more expensive and, highly profitable which is why everyone else was pushing for it). Everyone we dealt with at Raleigh Waterproofing was skilled and professional. There were as many as 12 guys at our house working at any one time and it was an impressive team. Even our neighbors were stopping by to comment on how impressed they were with the crew, organization and the care they showed in their work. Instead of bringing in heavy equipment to dig the trenches (which I imagine would have been much easier!) they dug it all entirely by hand, carefully cut the sod so it could be replaced, carefully put all the dirt they removed into buckets so we didn't have piles of clay dirt throughout the yard and had an assembly line of guys hauling the buckets back and forth to a truck at the curb, using a similar assembly line to haul the gravel to backfill the trench. Because they had so many guys out there the work went very quickly. It's been a year now since the work was completed and we are still very happy with the work. Our crawlspace is dry! Our yard is dry! It was an expensive job (and a big job!) but it was worth every penny. Working with Raleigh Waterproofing was probably the best experience we've ever had with a contractor. If you've got water issues in your yard/basement/crawlspace, these are the guys you want to call.
Description of Work: Two phase project. Initial work addressed water in the crawlspace. Dug trench around perimeter inside of the crawlspace, installed drainage pipe and back filled with rock. Installed sump pump and dehumidifier. Replaced all of the vapor barrier and insulation and subcontracted mold remediation for floor joists. Second phase addressed water pooling throughout the yard. Involved digging a 12' wide trench from the road, around the back of the house and back out to the road on the other side of the house, installed french drain to collect yard water and solid pipes that tied into downspouts to capture roof water, covered pipes with rock and soil and replaced sod over it. Core drilled holes through the curb for all the water from downspouts and french drain to drain into road (involved obtaining permit from town). Installed flagstone walkway from side of house around to back of house.

Everything went fine. I can't think of any improvements.
Description of Work: Raleigh Waterproofing had waterproofed our crawl space in 2005. I had noticed the sump pump was not gushing forth with rains we had had lately so I called and asked them to see if the pump was still working. Jarvis came, checked the sump pump, showed me it was still working, and charged me nothing for the call. He came within 24 hours of my call and even though the warranty on the pump had expired 6years earlier, charged nothing. Good company. Will do good work for you.

David Hawkins assessed the problem, recommended repairs that would actually solve the issues for good, and completed the suggested repairs on-time and on-budget. The quality of the work was top-notch, and the problems were solved. Later, when we had one additional problem, David figured out the issue quickly and suggested a cost-effective repair that we could do ourselves.

It was a very large amount that they had to do down below my foundation. Any problems that I've had over the last year, all I have to do is call David. He's responsive and right back here. It took longer to get the parts in so they can put a battery backup system in. He gave me a credit for part of that because I'd been a customer of his before. They're very, very good. Any type of waterproofing, where they're going to have to fix your entire house, is going to be extremely expensive. They were the only ones that would even look at my problem and doing anything with it. I had called about fifteen different people. Everyone else turned around and walked away from me. It's an older home, almost fifty years old. A lot of people don't want to deal with it. They had to drive almost a hundred miles and had no problem with that. My first bill was $14,000 but this was $1000. It was a big job. They had to dig three feet down under the foundation of the house and put in a drainage system. I have a tri-level house so they had to come in the house and go underneath my main level and dig out the third side of the house. They cleaned out everything. They put in a moisture barrier under the bottom of that section of the house. They had to re-install the sump pump. Actually, there's two drainage systems they put all the way out to the road, so they could make sure the water drains out from the house. All of a sudden, I had three inches of water in the bottom level. It was like it was coming in through the walls. If they had waterproofed it, it failed. He gave me a 20-year guarantee on this one. I sit on top of an underground river. My house has a well in the backyard that goes goes down into the underground river. Before they put city water in here, it had enough water coming out of it to supply three houses without a problem. With all of the rain and everything, the water tables come up. One of my levels is below ground, so you have that water coming in the house anyways. I have recommended people to them.
Description of Work: Raleigh Waterproofing actually had to re-do all of the waterproofing. With the ice and snow storm, we had power out. The sump pump backed up. I caught it before it went back over my foundation. They were here about two weeks ago and they installed a battery backup pump for the sump pump, so when the electricity goes off, the pump will still work and get the water out.

Chose to tackle the problem from the exterior which involved digging up the foundation around most of the home, sealing the foundation and walls of home, inserting several drainage pipes around home and routing pipes away from home into the backyard. For the portion directly next to the garage, we had to insert drains under the basement floor and routed them out of the basement and into the backyard. Very messy process that involved digging up portions of the front and backyard but had to be done for proper routing of drainage pipes. It has rained and snowed several times since the work was completed and the basement walls are no longer showing water penetration. Very happy with the results so far. Would highly recommend Raleigh Waterproofing for folks that have moisture issues with their basement. The only minor complaints I have are that I didn't reaize until after the job was completed that they only accept checks and there was some clean up that I had to take care of myself such as rocks/mortar/debris left in the yard.
Description of Work: We were having moisture issues with our unfinished basement. Met with several waterproofing companies over a period of months and finally chose David Hawkins and Raleigh Waterproofing. Resolving the water problem from the exterior seemed to be the most appropriate long term solution. Several companies recommended fixing issue from the interior which would have contained the water but still allowed it to penetrate the foundation and basement walls. Quotes from various contractors ranged from a couple of thousand to $25,000 so I took several months researching/interviewing before I felt comfortable that I had enough information to select the right partner.

Jim Bradshaw and his team arrived at the agreed to time to begin the work. He introduced my husband and me to his team and told us to call him any time we had any questions. The team was quite professional. Instead of using some heavy equipment, the team dug around our foundation and graded the yard. I was impressed with how they were very careful not to destroy our lawn with their equipment. Both Jim and David came to our house when we had a couple of questions and did not leave until all our questions had been answered. The team did a great job of cleaning up when the work was complete. My husband and I were very pleased with the results.

I chose Raleigh Waterproofing because they recommended solving the problem from the exterior, rather than the interior as other contractors did. This was in order to solve the actual problem, improper drainage outside my garage/office, rather than addressing the symptom, water coming into the garage. This made the estimate higher than an interior-only solution, but there's about 12ft of my house that will no longer have water running underneath it doing untold damage, which was worth it to me. They were able to graciously fit me in to their booked schedule to accommodate some family events we had upcoming, which was a tremendous help to us. The team came out on time early on the scheduled date, and completed the work in exactly the two days estimated. They cut a trench through an existing concrete pad, laid in a french drain, gravel/fabric above that, then installed a surface channel drain on top of that. This whole setup was then run ~100ft under my asphalt driveway to exit at an appropriate lower spot in the yard. I was kept up to speed on the progress and status of the work regularly over the 2-day installation by the team, including follow-up after the first rain post-install. Best of all, I was happy to report a perfectly dry garage!
Description of Work: We had water entering our garage from underneath and/or between two slabs of incorrectly poured concrete that made up the side of the garage. The Raleigh Waterproofing team came out, inspected the area, and spent a good deal of time talking with me to understand the problem. After diagnosis and an estimate, they came out, dug a ~20 foot trench, laid in a french drain and gravel blanket, and installed a serious channel drain above it on the surface.

My water problem under the house was serious and needed to be corrected without delay, especially given the tremendous amount of rain that we have had. I watched in amazement how so much water was being pumped out from under the house. We needed to wait 30 days for the area to dry out, before the vapor barrier could be installed. Both gentlemen were responsive to my needs and time frame.
Description of Work: Installed a drain system in the crawl space under my house. Also installed 2 sump stations, 2 electrical outlets, and a vapor barrier. Also removed an old vapor barrier that no longer functioned adequately.

Jim scheduled his team to come out and complete repairs as necessary. He introduced me to his team and made sure we all were on the same page. The team completed the work efficiently and cleanly in our mostly finished basement. They didn't leave dirt or anything behind. When the sewer pipe out by the street began to leak (likely from an old builder damage crack), Jim helped me locate a plumber that could be on site the same day. Jim really went above and beyond to help me. The following day, Jim and his team returned to confirm that all their work was intact post-plumber work, and refilled the dug out area as promised. I could not be more satisfied with the work and the help from Raleigh Waterproofing.
Description of Work: David came out on a Friday and met with us. He spent over an hour going over various scenarios about our water damage problem and explaining how it was most likely a problem where two pipes came into the basement together (a no-no). He took his time and was incredibly patient with us, and he didn't try to sell us services that we didn't need. He provide a quote, and an appropriate timeline. The work was delivered on that timeline and to my satisfaction.

Raleigh Waterproofing gave me a free estimate for the work. Included with the estimate was a diagram (drawing), a materials list and description of the work. After agreeing to the estimate, the work was scheduled. On the day of the job, the crew arrived, the crew chief spent a few minutes describing to me what would be done (per the estimate), and the work began. The project required digging out a trench along one wall, waterproofing and installing a layer of dimple board along the wall, laying gravel for a French drain, covering the drain with decorative gravel or cement and drain grates, and finally extending the drain to a storm water drain at the rear of the property by laying plastic drain pipe. Since I was at home during the project, the crew was able to talk with me if they had any questions. In particular, installing the drainpipe required removing a large shrub. To my surprise, the crew was able to remove and replant the shrub, which appears to be doing well over a month later! Throughout the day, the crew was engaged, very positive in their approach to the job and toward me as the owner. All of my questions were answered, and I was consulted either with questions, such as the shrub, or to explain what they were doing, or to explain something (how long to allow the cement to dry before putting a load on it). I had had several instances of water flooding up to a half inch in a sensitive area; a room where many musical instruments are kept in a climate controlled (including humidity) room. Since the Raleigh Waterproofing project, I have had NO water or any dampness in the studio. This, in spite of some of the worst rains that we have had in years, literally. I recommend Raleigh Waterproofing without any qualification.
Description of Work: Excavated foundation, installed French drain and piping.

Went excellent. Everyone showed up on time, was polite and hard working. Explained what they were doing and if any issues arose (some problems were found and fixed). The quality of the work was excellent, and the foundation waterproofing was greatly improved over the original construction. The price was in line with other estimates, and I feel that they went the "extra mile" to do a good job and make sure we were satisfied. If I ever have any additional problems, they will be the first people I call. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Raleigh waterproofing excavated part of the house foundation down to the footers, removed existing drain tile (on top of footer), applied parge coat on foundation, applied waterproofing, installed new drain tile with gravel and membrane, ran outflow to daylight, added drain board, and back filled the excavation.
