They came on a Thursday for the estimate and they installed on the next Thursday. They gave me an estimate and that's exactly what it was. They charged me exactly what the estimate was. I had warned them if they gave me an estimate I expected that's what it was to be. I wasn't gonna hear about any other added things after they'd given me the estimate and I had told them they were going to do the installation. I don't appreciate hearing after you're doing the work, there were extra charges for x, y or z. I said if you give me an estimate for installation, I want it to be turnkey. I told them, any errors or any omissions in the estimate, those are your's to eat, not me. You're giving me an estimate for what it's going to cost. They agreed to that and so it was exactly what they said it was going to be. The kind of systems that I ultimately bought, that was the most of expensive one. I went online and spent several hours online doing research on brands and reliability of different brands and stuff. The brand that I bought is considered of the more expensive and reliable brands. So I guess in terms of price, it was pretty expensive but I think it was probably a fair price. It's only been in for 2 weeks but so far so good. Time will tell on that. The installers came when they said they would be here and did what they said they would. I watched them work and they were very professional. They were punctual and professional in dealing with me. They answered all my questions. They did a thorough cleanup. They tested the system and we have not had to have them back for any adjustments. It took about 5 hours.

I am on a plan with them. I pay $240 a year. Fantastic. I have used them now for 5 years. They have done excellent work. They had to replace a system at one point and they have been really good. I refer them to all my friends who call me and ask who I use.

It was fantastic. I literally was out of town. It was the middle of summer and we were going to be with no air conditioning. They were wonderful. They came and did it and my neighbor let them in. I actually sell real estate for 10 years. A home inspector said to my client that they were buying a great house and whoever put the HVAC did a fantastic job. So I contacted the seller and asked who put in their system and they said Raleigh Heating & Air. That is why I use them. They are exceptional. Nothing negative to say about them. They're wonderful every time. They have come every 6 months since then and do service. They're just fantastic. The office is very professional. They call you. I had something come up a month ago where they were supposed to come. They called me the day before and asked if it was still ok to come. I had a bunch of stuff pop up for the day and I asked if we could move it because I was like how am I going to be there because I had to go show a rental. I don't remember exactly how it all worked out, but they said it was no problem and just rearranged it. Their office is wonderful and very professional.

I would think their price is competitive. I haven’t had to call them for an emergency situation because I only have them for maintenance to keep up on everything. They give you ahead of time who’s coming and what’s going to be there. It was very satisfactory. They are very polite.

They did a pretty good job. They came out, did a survey and a few weeks later, did a complete install. The timeliness that they did like from the survey to the installation. They were very quick with doing the complete install, ripping out the old stull and putting in the new. They did it in less than a day.

Woke up to a cold house on Sunday. Searched around on Angie's List for high-rated HVAC service providers in the area and settled on Raleigh Heating & Air since they were open and were highly rated here and on Google. I called to request a tech come out and was told I'd receive a call back to schedule something. A few minutes later, a rep called back and I was offered same-day or next-day service. Weekend service calls are a little more expensive ($145 vs $95) so I opted to wait a day and asked for an afternoon appointment. Monday, I received a call prior to the tech showing up that they were on their way. The service window was between 1PM and 5PM and I think the tech showed up, as promised, around 2. Torrie immediately knew what was wrong with my gas pack, explained the problem, and that he could fix it right then and there if everything else was in order. Unfortunately, he also found a rusted-out hole in the heat exchanger so that had to be replaced as well. He crawled into the unit and took a picture so I wouldn't have to. I appreciated that. I had to wait until the next day since he didn't have the part on hand and it was nearing the end of the day but that's understandable. He explained my options and answered any questions I had before I decided on replacing the parts instead of the whole unit. I also decided to sign up for their yearly maintenance plan which costs around $230 but ended up saving me about $300. The next morning, I received another call that Torrie was on his way and within a half hour or so, he was here and got to work. He replaced the parts, performed the bi-yearly maintenance on both my units, inspected ductwork under the house and after a few hours, everything was done. Torrie was professional, friendly, and honest which, in my experience, is hard to come by when it comes to dealing with HVAC companies. I definitely appreciated that and took it into account when I decided to sign up for their yearly maintenance plan. If I had to find anything negative to say, it'd be that I'm not able to get an itemized invoice so I don't know what I ended up paying for each part or labor for replacement. The heat exchanger was covered under warranty but sounds like it was still around $500-800 to replace which seems steep for a few hours labor. Overall, I really appreciated how everyone I spoke with was friendly, police, and respectful. That goes a long way in my book.

While both the customer service rep Dan and Kevin the tech were very nice and helpful I felt extremely overcharged and taken advantage of. When I spoke to Dan he said the service call would be $140 and that parts run 30% more for my emergency weekend service. I thought this should be fine and figured that the $140 AT LEAST included the basic diagnostic and a quick fix if thats all it was. IN FACT, Kevin the tech was only there about 10 minutes. It was a frayed wire causing a short. He cleaned it up and reattached. Yay! Small repair I thought. But MY SHOCK at getting presented with a bill over $300 for a 10 minute repair!?!?! The itemized bill showed the $140 service call and then $174 for a level one diagnostic. Really?? 10 minutes of a techs time cost me $174? Can I have that job? I feel royally screwed here. I feel like that $140 should of included the fix. I WILL NOT be using Raleigh Heating and Air again. No matter how nice the people are or how professional they are. I wont be victim to highway robbery again!
Description of Work: My AC was not cooling my place. Of course it happened on a weekend. I suspected it was a wire or capacitor in my outdoor unit since it had been worked on previously. I even told the tech to check there first.

Our 15-year-old HVAC died and needed replacing. Raleigh Heating and Air did a thermal load calculation and provided a quote. During that process, we discussed problems we had had in previous years with uneven heating/cooling. They recommended enlarging the ductwork to several of the rooms (from 6" to 7"), running a direct duct to one particularly remote room, and shrinking the ductwork going to a room close to the exchanger. Their price was very competitive when compared with other quotes for similar work. Also, the York unit came with a 10-year parts and labor warranty. I had a hard time finding a factory warranty that included labor from anyone else. The install was very quick and professional. The new unit worked very well, and the heating/cooling has been even for the first time since we moved in. There was a little miscommunication about hooking up the "power management" circuit (allows the power company to throttle HVAC units when there is extreme demand). Apparently I needed to call the power company to do that, but I wasn't told that, so there were two wires (not powered) dangling on the ground when the install was finished. However, a quick phone call cleared that up. Overall, I was very pleased.

We discovered a cracked and broken condensation pipe within weeks after they had done the service work. No one was in the attic after the RHA inspection. So either the Raleigh Heating and Air person doing the service work didn?t do a proper inspection of the condensation pipes to insure there was no damage/breaks/leaks, OR if there was damage, THEY FAILED to bring it to our attention and both report and repair the break OR while the technician was upstairs he missed his footing, stepped on the pipe, breaking it, and never told us of the break and never repaired the break. Soon after the inspection March 16, we discovered a water puddle in a closet in the far end of the house, in a closet. There was no immediate connection, as to a cause and effect of the water or where it was coming from, since the water appeared, then disappeared and then later reappeared, over weeks, for no apparent reason. We had no idea where it was coming from. We checked the plumbing pipes in the walls near the bathroom, kitchen. We were also having unusually heavy rains at the time, and our first thought was there was a leak in the roof. Once the rains stopped, we called in the roofer to inspect the roof for a leak. No leak in the roof. The water had stopped, and no puddle was forming. However, in May, the leak returned. We called in the roofer again. This time, upon closer inspection, first in the roof, then in the attic, the roofer discovered a major 4 feet long cracked condensation pipe for the run off water from the HVAC system, which, according to our contract inspection, had been checked in March. The roofer told us the only way this could have happened was for someone to step on the pipe crushing/breaking the pipe, based on the way it was cracked and broken. This proved to be the source of the water collecting in the house, spreading slowly, soaking into the insulation first, then down through the cinder block walls until they were soaked, then down to the slab floor and through the walls, into the dining room, soaking into the carpet and padding. The water migrated through two closets, a pantry and into the dining room in a slow, dripping run off every time the furnace/ac cycled on and off. When the weather warmed up, we turned off the heat. The water stopped draining, dried up and disappeared. The heat was turned on again and the water began to drip again. This was the inconsistency of why the water appeared and then disappeared and then reappeared when we turned the system back on. On 5/20/2015, Raleigh Heating and Air was called in to repair the pipe. They removed 4 feet of cracked, broken pipe, which we still have on hand. Carolina Restoration was called in together with Nationwide Insurance. CR began to immediately tear out carpet, vinyl flooring, do water evacuation, spraying for mold, dehumidifying that area of the house, etc. Nationwide Insurance inspected for extensive damages so we could file a claim. Raleigh Heating and Air was called back in on 5/28/15 to completely removed the old pipe, relocate and install a whole new drain pipe to a better location for more efficient run off and ease of inspection and insulate the pipe. RHA billed us $475. Immediately that evening, after the men from RHA left, my wife went upstairs to the attic, inspected their work and discovered a leak in the connecting joint of the newly installed pipe. She immediately took pictures and placed a towel under the leak. Michael and Sons Plumbers where immediately called in for an emergency, after hours, costing us an additional $302.20. The leak was sealed. On the morning of 5/29/15, a Stop Payment was issued on the check for $475 to Raleigh Heating & Air. One month later, Raleigh Heating and Air sent us an additional bill, this time for $500 with a $25 late fee added on. On June 30, 2015, Raleigh Heating and Air was sent a complete chronology of exactly what happened from the time of their inspection on 3/16/2015 to 5/28/2015, after they tried to collect on our canceled check, with a complete list of damages resulting from their ineffectual ?inspection?. We never heard from them again. This demonstrates they knew they were responsible for the damages we incurred. Otherwise, they would have taken us to small claims court to try to collect on the canceled check. It has been almost one year since Raleigh Heating and Air inspected our systems, under their semi-annual maintenance contract. They have not been in our home since, nor will they ever be. It is now March, 2016, a year later and the repairs have finally been completed, thanks to Carolina Restoration and their wonderful crew of people. The damages done by the water running through the broken condensation pipe dripping through the walls was extensive. Our home was torn up and we had to live in a state of disaster for almost a year, because of RHA?s negligence. This chronology is sent to Angie?s List for publication to warn others about RHA?s poor quality service. In the end the total damages to our home where over $15,000, all thanks to Raleigh Heating and Air's negligence.
Description of Work: We have two of the energy-efficient Carrier reverse heat pump with gas furnaces and air conditioners. Raleigh Heating & Air did a semi-annual inspection under our contract on our two HVAC systems on 3/16/15. Invoice states “checked and verified the defrost operation”. The broken condensation pipe was included as part of the inspection. There was no leaking or malfunction of the system before they worked on the system and they didn't report any problem to us at the time of the inspection. But there was a broken condensation pipe AFTER the inspection took place.

Dear Ms. [Member Name Removed], I realize that this is a difficult time for you. When we go through hard times it can feel better to point the blame at someone else. While we understand, and are sympathetic to that inclination to feel better, continuing to write bad reviews about us has crossed the line into being just plain slanderous. We were found to not be at fault in the unfortunate damage at your home. We simply offered to repair another contractor's installation - an offer that you accepted, and then refused to pay for. Not taking you to court over non-payment was not an admission of guilt, as that determination had already been made, it was a decision that we came to out of compassion for what was obviously a very difficult time for you. Like I said in the last response to your bad review of us; If we had built your house or installed your system, we absolutely would have made things right. That's who we are and how we've stayed in business for the last 24 years - we take care of our customers and we stand behind our work. While we truly want to be sensitive to your feelings and not make this time any harder for you, we also have to maintain our good business and community reputation and the slanderous remarks that you continue to write about us is making that difficult. I kindly ask that you stop writing these reviews about us and allow yourself, and us, to move on.

I was extremely happy with the service I received from Raleigh Heating and Air. The service tech that came out (Kevin Rabon) was very professional and knowledgeable. When he entered my home he put shoe covers on to make sure our floors were protected from anything that may have been tracked into the house. He then went upstairs to perform the maintenance. I was with him and asked him questions about what was being done and he explained in detail what he was doing. Kevin was very thorough and organized. He removed all debris from my attic as if he was never there. He then went downstairs to check the outdoor unit, which again very thorough and he even rinsed off the coils and the pad. I have used other company's through the years and by far Raleigh Heating and Air is the best. Between the ease of the professional staff scheduling the appointment around my busy schedule the highly trained and knowledgeable service techs Raleigh Heating and Air has earned my business for life. When it comes to customer service they are #1.

Raleigh Heating & Air was "johnny-on-the-spot". Kevin was able to deal with the problem extremely quickly and I was able to get this issue off the punch list. I really thought this would take much longer to resolve. Thank you, Raleigh Heating & Air!
Description of Work: We're selling our house. The buyers' inspection stated that the condensate line was leaking in the attic air handler. I called Raleigh Heating & Air. They sent a technician, Kevin Rabon, within just a couple of hours of my phone call. The technician reported normal moisture and normal wear and tear. He nevertheless sealed the unit and made sure that the drain line was clear. The unit is not leaking at this time. The unit is operating properly at this time.

Service was scheduled for one of the dates I had initially selected. A reminder call was made to me the day before the scheduled service and a call from the technician on the date of service to alert me of when he would be arriving. After checking the indoor air filters and temperature setting, Dave did the maintenance tuneup on the outside unit. When finished, he explained his findings and told me that an invoice would be emailed; the invoice arrived same morning. A year contract was discussed wherein there would be a maintenance tuneup for both AC and Heating units for $157 which I accepted as a very good deal! Customer service was great and the technician was courteous, spent a considerable amount of time on the tuneup, and explained the work and contract options.
Description of Work: Performed maintenance check on AC unit

They walked through everything. They made recommendations on improvements we could make with the duct port which we had several companies checked it and no one had gone through about the recommendations that we could do. They really explained all options and choices. It made a big difference. They were great.
Description of Work: We used Raleigh Heating & Air. They do service for us but the big thing that they did was to replace our unit upstairs last September, they replaced the whole unit inside and out.
