Description of Work: The air conditioning was not working at all. I contacted Raleigh Heating and Air because we have the Comfort Contract and have been a customer for over 3 years. The on call service said a technician would call me back within an hour, and he did so, setting up a time to come do a diagnostic. Tim arrived as scheduled and quickly assessed the problem and gave an estimate of the cost, then proceeded to make the repairs. I would rate anA+ all around for the whole process. Great communication and service. I would certainly recommend this company!

I had three proposals to replace my two HVAC units at my condo. Raleigh Heating and Air was BY FAR the less expensive. The bid was so much less that the other two vendors said flatly, "We can't compare with that". These are two TRANE units -- not a couple of off-brands. RH&A explained the tax break I would get with my new system too. They installed both units and air-handlers and were very professional and polite. I work at home so it was important that they be quiet and they were. The first inspection did not pass because of a faulty condensation pump. RH&A came back out, corrected the problem and paid for the re-inspection. I've been amazed at how much money I've saved on these two units. I was really dreading this process. RH&A made it practically seamless.

The appointment was scheduled immediately upon my contacting them. The technician was prompt and friendly. He was highly knowledgeable and was very willing to work within a very tight budget. They were completely honest with me about equipment quality ranges, repairs, and durability. His proposal came in as the best one of the 6 businesses contacted - really good equipment for a reasonable price. He was able to immediately get an appointment set up for installation, helping us to get some relief before the seriously high heat hit our area. The installers arrived on time, worked quickly, cleaned up after themselves and were gone within 2 hours.
Description of Work: I contacted 6 local businesses, all of whom had high ratings from Angie's List, to provide an estimate for replacing a 2 ton AC unit in a small town house.

The unit was giving me a whole lot of trouble, so I called out another company and when they looked at everything they just wanted to replace the whole unit for a whole lot of money. I called Raleigh Heating & Air and it took several hours, but the technician replaced the motor and saved me a whole bunch of money. I have now used Raleigh Heating & Air for the past couple of years. They are very responsive. I call them up and set a date for a servicing and they always come out on time.

The work took 1 1/2 days to complete. The crew (two men) came on both days, on time, as promised. The work was completed as scheduled. The air conditioners are working great!
Description of Work: The upstairs air conditioner needed to be replaced. It was twenty years old, and this same company had been keeping it going for the past three years. We ended up replacing both the upstairs and downstairs units.

Took apart the gas burner and also verified the heat exchanger was in good condition. Initially he could not determine the problem and was going to replace several components. He spent the extra time to diagnose and found a rusted pilot assembly.

The guys are super-nice and very pleasant, but 5 trips and $1200.00 to get me to the same place I was when I started just isn't cutting it for me.
Description of Work: I called them out when my self-installed programmable thermostat quit working (I had wired it as a heat pump, not electric heat). They fixed the thermostat and it worked well for 1.5 yrs. and then quit again. They came out and replaced the thermostat with a huge, ugly one, and it stopped working less than 2 days later. I selected the thermostat I wanted from a web search, they located it for me, and came out to replace the unit. It quit again after a couple of days. I was told that the problem was that the ducts from the heater were too small for the unit which was making the thermostat shut down (even though the system had worked fine for 15 yrs.), so I had them do $1200 worth of work to fix the ducts. As soon as they finished and left, the thermostat shut down. Again. They came back out, checked all the electric wiring, and said the problem was an 18-inch section of wire that they had replaced. As soon as they left, the thermostat quit again. They've recently come back out and said the problem was that the circuit board was overheating when the heating unit was on because the thermostat is drawing electric power from the unit, and I've been told I need to either replace the thermostat ($240) with a battery-operated one or replace the entire heating unit for another $1200.00. I have a simpler solution. I'm finding a new heating/AC company.

I got six different estimates for the job, and of these six Raleigh Heating and Air had the low bid, for equal or better quality equipment, and the most professional representative. Work was performed promptly and quickly, and the workmen seemed very professional.
Description of Work: Replaced downstairs heat pump system. (2.5 ton 14 SEER Goodman with variable speed air handler and 10 year warranty, new line set, new digital thermostat, and fixed duct work associated with air handler.)

My heat pump was making a loud noise, and the unit was only heating the house up to about 68 degrees. The service representative came and replaced the contactor. I wanted to have the unit serviced for general maintenance, but that couldn't be scheduled right away. I wanted the unit repaired sooner, because colder weather was expected. If I could have waited or if they could have fit me in sooner, I would have saved money. They seemed a bit backed up, but I guess that happens when the weather changes. The company representatives are business-like (not particularly warm and friendly on the phone or in person).
Description of Work: A part of my outside heating unit (heat pump) was replaced. The service representative called the part a contactor.

Raleigh Heating & Air installed a new system for us 2 years ago. I was very happy with the installation team. However, we kept having problems with the A/C not keeping up. We had service guys out 3 times before they finally figured out that they had installed a system that required more air intake than our old system. (I had even told them that the ''change air filter'' warning message kept popping up, but instead of realizing that meant that we needed more airflow, the first service guy simply turned off the warning message.) So, I would definitely say that I was not pleased with their service guys. However, the guys who came out to install the new intakes were very kind & conscientious - put down tarps & cleaned up thoroughly.

The technician called and came when the company said that he would. He was polite and knowledgeable. He fixed the problem, and so far, it's been working fine during the summer months.
Description of Work: Our upstairs A/C unit was not working. The tech. came out, filled the A/C unit with freon, and said that there was a leak in the system. He put a dye in the unit so that he could see where the leak is.

Each person that has come out has been friendly and professional. I felt like they took the time required to do the job right, even though the price was fixed in advance for the inspection.
Description of Work: I have 2 units on my house for heat and 2 for A/C, this is for 2 inspections on both units (1 summer and 1 winter). The price seems reasonable for 2 units. I was very impressed with the thorough inspections and cleaning (especially of the heating units).

THEY TEND TO HAVE HIGH PRICES AND ARE NOT ALWAYS SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THEY LIKED TO TELL ME THAT IF I DIDN'T REPAIR THIS CERTAIN THING I WOULD HAVE BIG PROBLEMS IN A FEW WEEKS. I WILL CONTINUE TO SEARCH FOR A BETTER COMPANY.

THESE GUYS ARE VERY KIND, COURTEOUS, AND PROFESSIONAL. I HAVE RECOMMENDED THEM TO OTHERS AROUND HERE. SOME OF THEM TOLD ME HOW IMPRESSED THEY WERE THAT THE GUYS EVEN TOOK OFF THEIR SHOES BEFORE COMING IN TO THEIR HOUSES.
