+ -1 moreTheir prices were comparatively high. They were more than happy to replace the watch battery. When I paid for this one service, the price was $24 (for a standard watch battery replacement). It usually costs me $10 when a jewelry stop switches out by battery. Ouch! Not my kind of store.

Corey was extremely knowledgeable, patient and very easy to work with. In fact, I actually enjoyed my time in the store and came out much more informed about gold and silver. I felt so good about the experience that I left my wedding ring that needed some repairs. Raleigh Gold Jewelry will be my “go-to” place for jewelry repairs and purchases. It’s wonderful to find a jewelry store that you have total trust in. I definitely recommend Raleigh Gold and Silver!
Description of Work: Went through many items I brought in to sell. Most of them were plated and not "true" silver or gold". Now I know how to tell the difference - thanks to the process being explained. Educational experience as well as making some money for the items I was able to sell ($350 dollars worth).

The gentleman who assisted us was professional, informative and clearly communicative during the whole process. While I was already familiar with the current price of gold and silver and have sold precious metals before, we were carefully asked at every stage of the process if we understood what was entailed and were never pressured. From start to finish it only took us about 15 minutes to complete a satisfactory transaction, given a very good price for the coins and paid via check. In fact more time was spent casually conversing than the actual transaction, :) We would definitely deal with Raleigh Gold Jewelry and Coin if the need arises.

James asked how he could help, I showed him the pieces of jewelry that I wanted appraised. After explaining how gold and precious metals are evaluated from a Jeweler/Appraiser perspective, he then showed me how gold was tested to determine the carat and explained how he arrives at a price for the gold. He weighed it, added up the values, and printed a check for me. Quick, easy, no hassles. I would recommend James and his business to anyone in the area who is looking for a fair and honest deal.

+ -1 moreMy wife inherited a thick 14k gold bracelet with a whole bunch of 14k charms. There was nothing of sentimental value on it, so she told me to see how much we could get for it. Nowadays, it's a little easier to know if you're getting a good deal when selling gold. A few minutes on and quot;The Googlesand quot; and I was able to find out how reputable merchants purchase gold. I have an inexpensive digital kitchen scale that gave me a reasonable measure of how many grams it weighed. Finding the current market rate on 14k gold was easy, and a few websites said, after you calculate the price from the weight of the gold, you have to lower it by a percentage to figure out the price you should get. When I went to Raleigh Gold Jewelry and Coins, I was waited on immediately, and it only took minutes for the cs rep to inspect it and weigh it, their weight was a few tenths of a gram more than my scale, and it didn't take them long to offer me $1420. My calculations had given me a price of $1450, so I had no problem whatsoever with their offer. I doubt I spent more than 15 minutes in the store, and walked out with that check. Also, they ask you to give them a good review on Google, and they mail you a check for $20. The purchased review kind of tweaks the ethical portion of the brain, but since I really did have a good experience there, I had no problem taking the $20.

+ -1 moreFortunately for the customer, with so much information available on the internet, it is much easier to get a idea of what jewelry is worth, at least as far as selling it for the weight of the gold. My mother-in-law gave us the bracelet with the intention of our selling it. It was a large charm bracelet, and the chain and charms were all marked 14K. I have a digital scale that I use for measuring food portions, and it said the item weighed 74 grams, including the weight of stones set in the charms. I found 3 websites that told you how to calculate the worth of the gold, and how much you would actually get for it. All 3 sites came up just about the same number, and they all said a good gold buyer would probably offer you a percentage of that. At Raleigh Gold Jewelry, their scale said 74.4 grams, and they offered me a more than fair amount. I had thought I might try a couple of places, but I was so pleased with the offer, I took it. I will definitely do business with them again. Also, their showroom is quite nice, next time I'm in the market to buy jewelry, I'll definitely take a look there.

The ring had been appraised about 10 years ago for $6,698.00.James weighed the ring and told me the diamonds were worthless and offered me $400.00. I told him I would think about it and possibly come back. This just did not seem like a fair price. He reminded me that he was not putting his offer in writing and he may not be feeling quite as generous when I come back. He was very annoyed that I did not accept his offer on the spot.I have since taken the ring to a reputable appraiser and it was appraised at $8,830.00.I would stay away from this establishment.

Peter divided the types of jewelry I had brought into separate categories and explained how they would each be assessed. I liked his professionalism and mannerism and very satisfied with the amount my jewelry was appraised for. After the transaction he invited me back and stated that if I ever needed any help to please return and that he or any other staff member would be more than happy to assist me. Description of Work: I recently spoke to a dear friend and asked her if she knew of a reliable and honest jeweler that would appraise old jewelry and give a fair price. She recommended "Raleigh Gold Jewelry and Coin". I asked her "What was the experience like?" and she went into detail about the service received and the helpful staff. So I had to check it out for myself, and was she right!!! I was greeted with a warm "Hello" and "How may I help you" from a wonderful man by the name of Peter. I went into explaining that I had some jewelry that needed appraising and if he could help me with that, now...at that point and time I didn't tell him that a friend recommend me because I wanted to see if I would be given the same kind of service my friend did and to tell you the truth I believe it may of been even better!!! He weighed a nickel to calibrate the scale and then applied a magnet to see if any of the items very not if fact 100% real gold, only two small pieces were, however he also showed me that the claw hook has a spring in it and that it too isn't gold so the magnet stuck to it but stated that it is normal, he then proceed to examine the pieces with a special kind of magnified glass and place them in piles of 10k and 14k. There were two pieces that didn't have makings on them to indicate what kind of gold it was,so he preformed a test by scraping them on a type of stone and then place a drop of liquid acid where he had scraped the stone to show whether it is 10 karat or 14 karat or higher. I found that to be very interesting! He then weighed them and calculated the price for each type of gold and stated the value. He showed me the price for my items and asked me if it were a fair price and for what I had it seemed to be a very good price. I was really happy and then shared with him that a friend of mine recommended me to him and he even remembered her and because of the recommendation she too will get a gift from him! Now that is good Customer Service!!!

This was our second time there and with both times had an excellent experience. We were led immediately back so that our silver could be looked at. I read about Raleigh Gold Jewelry and Coin on the Internet and decided to give them a try. I have not sold gold to any other store, so I can't compare them to other options out there, but I had a very pleasant experience. I did not have to wait to be seen, the gold buyer quickly sorted my items and verified the karat of the gold. I was curious about the whole process and she was very friendly and willing to answer my questions. After just a few minutes she quoted me a price for the gold, which I happily accepted. The enviroment was very nice and professional. I don't have any other jewelry or old precious metals lying around, but if I did, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Raleigh Gold Jewelry and Coin.

When I left there I felt like I had bought a diamond bracelet and I was their best customer, when all I had done was a repair on my necklace. I had gone to two other places who weren't going to give me as much for the gold, and on top of that because it was my first time in, they did the repair for free.

+ 0 moreFirst we loved that fact that the door was locked and we had to be buzzed in. This made us feel comfortable and safe as we prepared to get an estimate on the bag of and quot;junk goldand quot; that we had brought in to sell and the jewelry that we needed repaired. We are a large family and not always able to have child care and therefore my wife and I we were doing business with our 2 and 4 year old. The staff was very sweet with the children and made us feel right at home. All of our gold was evaluated right in front of us. They were very open and fourth coming as to how the process of evaluations are preformed. Including not only showing us how the test for 100% of gold is done but actually showing us the solution bottles as well while preforming the test in front of us. After sorting our gold based on type as well as clearing out the and quot;fake itemsand quot;, they provided proof that the scale was in fact collaborated before weighing the gold. We were at no point pressured to sell our gold. In fact we decided to keep one of our larger pieces. They made an offer at fair market value and wrote us a check on the spot. I really liked the fact the check was from a larger well known bank. We then evaluated the items that we need to have repaired and were given quotes as well as ideas as to the best way to in fact repair/repurpose them. We also looked at several bridal setting options for my wives wedding ring. At no point were we pressured or and quot;houndedand quot; around the store. My wife had plenty of time to window shop. I would also like to note that we in fact drove about 45 mins from our home to get to the store. While we did not purchase today, we will definitely be back. After all my wife made me a list and I couldn't pick a better place to make all her jewelry dreams come true.
Description of Work: We sold our junk gold and was given a quote to make repairs to some beloved pieces that we wanted to keep. We also looking at several new bridal settings for my wife. We left with a check payable to us!
