 + -1 moreThe service went well and the roller was put back in the track. The technician said that he checked out everything and had serviced the door. The problem was that we called them back about three months later to inform them that the door was making a lot of noise when raising and that a washer had fallen out. They said that the door did not have any washers (which turned out to be true) and that they did not need to do anything further. The washer was probably laying on top of the motor and vibrated off. I think that Overhead Door of Raleigh should have returned to check out our concerns. We then contacted another overhead door service who came out and serviced the door again. They tightened the chain, replaced a missing key coupling in the chain and tigntened some set screws. The door now works great and is very quiet.
Description of Work: Put garage door roller back in the track and serviced the door.

 + -1 moreThe price wasn't much as I thought it would be. They were responsive. They did thorough work and they did to our satisfaction. They have done work for us before. They were always good. Even though they were further away from us and there might be other company physically close to us, we chose them. They have very good rating on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Overhead Door Co Of Raleigh reinstalled one of the electronic beam devices that are to pointing toward each other on the garage door. One of them had been cut and they had to rewire as well as remount; which was done four weeks ago.

 + -1 moreThe service tech from Overhead Door came when they said they would, and fixed what they said they would need to fix over the phone. The bill came in right at what they suggested it would when I first called them.
Description of Work: My 40 year old double garage door had a cable that was about to break. I called one highly rated garage door service company that came out promptly and had me nearly convinced to just buy a new door because they said my old door needed so much service work. Long story short, I ended up calling Overhead Door of Raleigh. Their service dispatcher has been in the business 30 years and told me I didn't need all the repairs that the other company suggested. I would have spent a minimum of $300 with the highly rated (on Angie's List) competitor and more likely $600-700 for what the competitor suggested. My bill was $235 with Overhead door. They fixed what was worn out and said the rest was fine. Replaced 7 of the rollers and one cable. The competitor wanted to fix all 12 rollers and both cables as well as both springs, and then recommended just buying a whole new door from them with the tax credits that are available. That would cost $1100 after the tax credit.

 + -1 morePhone contact and coordination was OK. The service engineer who made the maintenance call was not attentive to the quality of his work. He seemed to be an OK engineer so he might have been having a bad day. The repair job ran a bit longer than he anticipated. When I checked the door, it was not operable. He initially said the problem must be with my alarm system (I don't have one). He eventually troubleshoot the problem and found that he had not secured an optical control device which he had adjusted during the installation.

 + -1 moreOn a Monday I called and asked them to come out on Wednesday to fix a garage door that had been sticking and the cable had come loose. The repairman arrived within an hour of the appointed time and fixed the door. The price was a bit high for 30 minutes of work. I've used another vendor in the past whose base charge was $85, but they could not come out on the day I needed them.

 + -1 moreThe company representative (I believe his name was Chad), was to arrive at 9:30, but showed up at 9:00. That's a first, showing up earlier. Chad looked at the door, and explained in detail what was wrong and how he would fix the problem. He tightened the springs, replaced a plastic piece, and proceeded to lubricate all of the working parts to ensure the life of the door and it's components would be extended. He was very professional, and extremely informative of what needed to be done and what I could do in the future to maintain the door. It seemed a bit pricey, but when I considered how far they had to drive and the hour plus spent doing the work, I have no complaints. Excellent work!
