I wanted to open up a bank account here since it looked nice and is very close to my home. When I walked in, no one greeted me. I walked up to a teller, explaining I wanted to open an account, and she told me to have a seat. I waited for many minutes before a brusque woman issued me into her office. She did not greet me, either. I told her I was interested in opening up an account. She asked rather rudely if I knew anything about them because they weren't free. I told her I was a little familiar with them, and she gave me an informational sheet. I left for a few minutes to get the proper documents needed to open an account (ID) and read over the sheet. When I came back, she was still rude and asked me if I even qualified for any if the accounts. She explained that they mainly deal with doctors and lawyers even though they do open accounts for "regular people" like me. She very obviously judged me. I placed a check for nearly $80,000 on the table and told her that my money should be just as good. She was delaying opening an account and was making excuses not to, such as I might want to shop around for other interest rates. I got it loud and clear: I was not welcome there. I picked up my check and left. I have never in my life been treated so rudely and been so judged. This woman had no idea who I am, what I do for a living, or how much money that bank could have profited from me. I would never go back, even if all the other banks in Raleigh closed. Only wealthy, snobbish people are welcome. If you want to be treated like a person, go elsewhere.
