Did not even get a chance to get that far. The person coming to talk regarding the project during the initial appointment was extremely rude and showed an condescending attitude that said that he really did not want to be where he was. Communication was extremely poor. If the initial contact was like this, I am afraid how it would have been like if I actually went with this company. Granted that one bad seed does not represent an entire company, but the fact that it happened can't be ignored. There are way too many companies and contractors out there for me to put up with a sub-par and unprofessional behavior.
Description of Work: I needed to get a remodeling and roofing project done in the backyard.

I've never had a group work so hard as the three man crew who did the work. They arrived every morning by 8:00, took a few minutes for lunch at noon, and continued working until 5:00. They were neat and respectful. I wish all my home repair jobs went as smoothly as this one did. The deck is now a year old and I've contacted this company to stain it. We did make a few changes and the point man was adaptable. My deck looks so great. I only have one screw that popped. I highly recommend this company. I need some exterior siding replaced and North Carolina Exteriors will be the first firm I call.
Description of Work: What a great experience I had with this company. In May of 2016 they redid my huge deck, but were able to use the substructure. My entire deck with three sets of steps looks amazing.

Its been a pleasure working with North Carolina Exteriors. Everyone we worked with was great from Patrick to the Installers to Chris. They helped us with getting exactly what we wanted with no high pressure sales pitch. The house looks brand new. I will be calling them back when we are ready to redo our deck and would recommend to everyone. Very happy!!

It began well, with their rep visiting the home, providing suggestions and information about our wants and needs, and describing the work that the company has done. We requested additional information, addresses of homes where such work was completed, sample materials, and timing of completion of the work. We were told that we would have to put no money down; final payment would be due at completion of our deck to our satisfaction. Later, we were told that if "the office" asked for prepayments, "we should go ahead and pay them". Promises were made to us about all of the above, but even after several attempts by us to get the rep to provide the information, a month later, none was provided. He just kept sending us back to their website, which we had already used to familiarize ourselves with them and to compare them to other such companies. He suggested that we go to Home Depot to see samples of the materials. NCE's website comes off as a vibrant company of sufficient size to handle multiple jobs, but we found only recently that they have an office staff of only four, and follow-up on requests is nonexistent. The rep who visited us left town for a week after promising to fulfill our information needs "by Tuesday" two weeks ago; we still don't have it. We provided a rough computer-generated layout of the deck size we were interested in, and asked if they could provide a rough drawing of what the final work would look like; they could not. Since they were the only ones who knew where the additional bricked supports would go, we couldn't do it ourselves, or we would have done it long ago. In early October, we were promised that the work would be completed "by Thanksgiving"; that moved to "possibly by Christmas". When we were surprised by the size of the final estimate, the rep told us of a much larger and more elaborate job, including lights and pergola, done for a customer last year, he told us that the price for that job was $24,000. Our estimate today was "between $27,000 and $28,000", even though our deck would be of lesser size, no embellishments, and lower-cost materials. It appeared that the company was not interested in our business, and we have canceled any further contact with them. A word of warning: you will be asked to sign a contract with them during their first visit, having no other details than "build a xxx sq. foot deck", and having no firm commitments in terms of time, quality control, design, or any other thing that you might need in a true contract. By law, you will have a 72-hour respite for "buyer's remorse" to cancel the contract. Foolishly, we did sign, but canceled to change the quality of materials we wanted. We intended to continue with them, but with delays and poor customer service, we gave up and abandoned the effort.

Terrible, one guy came and cut a square patch from the siding I even know that you stager the boards. My painter refused to paint over substandard work. The spacing onthe the boards was terrible. Some too far apart and some boards too close to get caulk on the joints. All their work had to be redone and was still not to my satisfaction . Had to hire another guy to finish work. What a nightmare

The following are the observations and opinions of the customer. The customer does no claim to have any expertise in workmanship. The customer desired to change the color of the roof from white to black and to further seal the roof for longer life. The customer was open for techniques and suggestions by a professional. There was not a roofing problem, such as leaks. The Office Manager of North Carolina Exteriors (NCE) was contacted and a request was made to receive an inspection and an estimate for the roof at a residence in Bahama, North Carolina. On July 15, 2015, the customer received a visit, as requested, from a NCE sales representative. The rep. inspected the roof. He, specifically, stated that the customer did not need a new roof. He commended the very old heavy gauge steel shingles. The rep. recommended and the customer contracted with the rep. to perform specific coatings to seal and change the color of the roof to the 864 square foot residence. The roofing contract was for Power wash, Prime, Paint with two coats of DTM black gloss paint to the metal roof. Additionally the contract included replacement of smaller sections of asphalt shingles. The contract called for a referral fee of $100. to be paid to a person referring. The price was $4720. The customer was present and monitored all phases of the work. In July and August of 2015 work began by a sub-contractor of NCE. The customer repeatedly alerted NCE of on-going irregularities in the performance of the work. The workers: (1) "Prepared" the roof for coatings by pressure washing the roof upwards, from the ground level, blowing loose several sections of vent eves, and possibly loosening metal tiles; (2) Kept missing areas while painting; (3) Used one gallon of watered down latex primer to prime 864 square feet of roof; (4) Used four gallons of latex product for the first coat and was not aware that a second coat was contracted. Due to on-going complaints to NCE the owner dispatched one of his executive staff to supervise the workers. The executive then witnessed, probably, the most egregious error; (5) The painters sprayed the second coat using oil based coating on the roof. (The can labels were similar) The customer discovered the error and pointed it out to the executive and took photographs of all the different cans on the ground. The executive arranged to have four more cans of the proper latex coating be delivered to the site, for a third coat. (6) All the coatings were done downward, by the worker straddling the top ridge and upward, from the top of a ladder. The over-spray, downward then upward, of the gloss paint left a flat sheen in the middle, horizontally, across all sections of the roof. The executive insured that latex over oil over latex would not be an adherence problem and that the flat sheen would dry equal with the gloss. The customer left for the winter and returned in March and discovered large air bubbles particularly on the east and south sections of the roof. The middle of the metal roof still had the flat sheen on the glossy roof. This effect was obviously caused by the over-spray landing in the middle as the painter sprayed the glossy coating down from the top and up from the bottom of the roof; (7) Additionally, the bottom edges of the metal tiles on the top one third of the roof did not receive adequate applications of the black coatings, as evidence of their remaining the uncoated original white. (8) The owner, indicating an adherence complaint, caused his friend, a Wake Forest paint supplier, to visit the residence and take gouges (down to metal) off a northwest section of the roof for laboratory examination by the paint manufacturer. This small section or the quality of the products was never in question by the customer. The official manufacturer?s report supported the integrity of the products (of course) and was critical of the old metal shingles? prior coatings. It mentioned an oily leaching coming down over the recently applied product. One could judge that this leaching could be a manifestation from failure to coat the lower edges of the tiles and/or the instant applications of latex over oil over latex coatings. Additionally, leaching could occur from the former coating leaching down from under the lower edge of the uncoated shingles on the top third of the roof sections. Close-up photography displays that the lower edges of the tiles were white (original coating) and had not been coated with the new black product. (9) However, the report conclusions included that an unsuccessful adhesion could, possibly, have been mitigated by proper preparations. NCE, acting as the contractor, should have recognized and affected the need for proper and effective preparations. (10) Additionally, the contract called for a referral fee to be paid to a person who recommended NCE. The referral fee was not paid. The roof is actually in a worst condition after the performance by NCE. Not only will we have to re-do the work, we will first have to remove their coatings and re-prep the roof for a correct application of the proper products. NCE was chronologically made aware of each of the complaints. The Office Manager, sales, and executive staff are cream of the crop. Their vehicles are fancy and glitzy. The sales response was expeditious and pleasant. However, North Carolina Exteriors provided inferior workmanship, was poor in follow-up communications, and poor in follow-through. The customer offered the owner to schedule with the customer a visit the residence for further examination. He declined. The owner refused to make a full refund, which would mitigate the damage done. He did not communicate a remedy. This is a brief summary of the events and status from July 2015 to September 2016. Imagine the frustration by the customer concerning business with North Carolina Exteriors.

Excellent. Hardest workers. I waited to write this review. The deck is almost 5 months. Just gorgeous. The company was very responsive when we wanted changes. I used my existing foundation and they replaced all exposed wood, built steps, huge lattice, built me a big plater box. I think I spent about $12,000. It was worth every penny. Best construction company I've ever worked with.

My house needed siding and paint. I saw the ad for North Carolina Exteriors in a local mailer. I called them for an estimate. I was immediately impressed by their attention to detail in reviewing what I wanted done with the house. The professionalism and quality continued through the whole process of removing the old siding, putting up the new siding, painting the house, clean-up, and final inspection. Great job at a reasonable price. Great customer service.

Starting with Cody's first visit and estimate, we knew we had selected the right contractor. Chris did a great job or managing the construction effort. He stayed in touch with us, promptly returned calls and texts, and allowed us to make some minor changes without adding to the cost of the job. The guys who did the work were polite and professional. They showed up on time, worked hard every day, and cleaned up before they left. The finished desk is exactly what we had hoped for and more. I would recommend North Carolina Exteriors to any friend or family member without any reservation. Thank you Cody, Chris and Sandy!

From start to finish, this was one of the best experiences I have had with a contractor. The job was professionally done in a timely manner. All of the people involved were friendly and know what they are doing. The roofers removed all my plants and bird feeders to prevent damage and covered my deck with a tarp to keep it clean. The roof looks very nice and I have had many compliments. One of the best things, is they cleaned the yard up very well, I have yet to find a nail. s

I chose this company to do a makeover on my home because I researched and saw they could do all that I wanted to have done. From the quote with Cody and up to now has been a pleasant experience. Still have a few more loose ends and I will have a total makeover just as I wished for. All the workers from shingles to my deck and porch were awesome. Brittany and Walt also worked very hard getting up the Hardie Plank and more. Melvin can sure do some great painting. Chris Foster the project manager was always checking to make sure all was going well with everything. He overlooked all the work on my home that has been done and will make sure it is finished to my satisfaction without a doubt. He is the best! I can honestly say I am a very happy lady with all the hard work and dedication that has been put in my home makeover. Thanks so much North Carolina Exteriors staff !!

See above, but it went PERFECT!!! Cody came out and gave the estimate initially then the Proj, Mgr Chris came by and explained what would be happening and when, even the owner stopped by one day to check on things. I couldn't be more pleased. Have even gotten Cody back over for an estimate on building (rebuilding) a deck and although I got 2 other estimates they came in the best so they will be starting that soon. Also another estimate is pending from them for a shed.

They were so amazing! They walked me through various shingle options, worked with my insurance company to agree on a square footage, even said that any overages on cost would be eaten rather than passed on to me. They showed up on time and finished the job within two days, even worked into the evening on the first night. Cleaned the area up very well. The only weird part was that I had to call them in order to have them remove the excess materials, the dumpster, and to pay them (never thought about hounding a company to give them payment rather than vice versa ha ha). Wonderful work, I'd highly recommend them.

All of the work was done in an expert way. The workers and owner were very accomplished and easy to work with. The quality of their equipment was good. They gave great quality recommendations. We have been very pleased with the work. They had their estimator come up first and meet us on site. He spent half a day understanding what we wanted and did a hand written review of everything. He generated a quote, once that was done. We paid the down payment and they completed everything as we wanted and there was no price differences. Excellent project management!

We got an estimate immediately from Patrick, who was thorough and professional. The project was slightly delayed due to weather. I met Walt the first day he came out and felt very comfortable with the project being in his hands. The next time I came out to check on the project it was a different worker who was doing a decent job but making a mess along the way. We got the door and windows installed at least a week after the siding was done. Walt came back multiple time to fix errors and clean up messes other employees had left. If it wasn't for Walt being very professional and doing a thorough job I would have given a lower rating. I would suggest anybody working with this company to request Walt. He really saved this experience for us. When you're spending a lot of money you want to know it's in good hands. Thanks to Walt we feel good about the money we spent on this project.

I was overall dissatisfied with the service. I work in a service industry myself, and if I had made the mistakes that they had, I would be fired. Their estimate was higher than others that I got, but they were reviewed highly, so I opted to go with their higher price because I figured that I would get what I paid for. They installed the deck first, a simple 12'x12' on the back of the house. They did a nice job, but when the workmen arrived, they had to ask me to print out the blueprints because they could not get in touch with the project manager. This made me late for work. The project manager later claimed that he arrived 5 minutes after I left, but this doesn't change the fact that he didn't answer his phone, and I had to frantically find the plans in my inbox and print them. Not off to a good start. We then scheduled to convert a back window into a back door onto the deck for the following Saturday. Saturday came and went, and no one showed up to do the job. I managed to get someone on the phone that wasn't the project lead, and he had no idea what to do. I later found out that my project lead was at a family reunion. He had not planned on coming on the scheduled day at all! This was a huge inconvenience to me as I had taken the entire day off to be there for the job. They explained themselves by saying that the materials were one week late in arriving. That's all fine and dandy, but that doesn't explain why you never told me that you weren't coming. I got the sense that they were just covering up their scheduling mistake by blaming their suppliers. So we wait another week, and they arrive on Saturday...with the wrong door. 3 hours later, they get back with the correct door and start the project. By the end of the day, I had a door that was...all right. It scrapes my wood floor every time we open it because there is no threshold, so it is a little annoying, especially because there is no space to put a mat. But whatever. At least I have a door. They had to come back later to finish the job because there was wood rot in my bathroom wall where they were supposed to put a window (this is not their fault - we had anticipated this) and also because they didn't have the right molding to go around the door. The molding that they ended up using is really ugly and does not by any means match the other molding in my house. I had been told from the beginning that they would match the molding of my house as much as they could, but this doesn't even come close. They didn't even fill the stud marks. But again, I don't care as much about this as long as I have a door with some molding around it. The bathroom window was another saga. They did this as a discount as an apology for being late with the door, so I guess that was nice. The tore out the old wall and window because of the wood rot and replaced the entire wall and window...incorrectly. The window sill was wood, which I had specifically asked for it not to be (it's a window in the shower - I didn't want any wood). They also did not build the sheet rock out enough to meet the tile on the other wall, which we had very explicitly talked about. So they had to come back the next day to get it right so that the tile guy could come and do his job. Finally everything was finished. The project lead came on the last day and literally said to me, "I'm here so I can get paid." Great, as long as I don't ever have to work with you again. Recommendations to the company: Work on your internal communication. Prepare for your projects more meticulously. Don't make me pay for your mistakes with my time.

Everything went as smoothly as could be expected with what I would describe as a medium size project. Troy came out promptly on time to give a bid and gave a written estimate the same day which ended up being the final cost. I worked with Chip who was the project manager who did a great job keeping us updated on what was going on and what the plan was. Some bad weather and supply shortages (not NC exteriors issues) slowed down the project a few days but I knew about everything as it was happening. Walt and his team did a great job replacing our siding and the painters made it perfectly blend with the rest of the house. Our roof needs to be replaced and we will definitely be contracting NC exteriors for that work and a deck replacement next year. We looked around for several months and many contractors this was certainly the right choice.? The Martin Family
Description of Work: We had the entire front of our house wood siding replaced, several portions of deck railing and a small roof repair.
