Nicolas' Hardscapes was very responsive to my initail inquiry. I had a short timeline before a major event at my house and needed the work done in just a couple weeks. Nicholas was so great from the start. He came by our house to give an estimate within one day of my first call. He caught my vision right away for the project and was very professional to work with all the way through. The work started even earlier than his initial date, he worked us in ASAP. This was much appreciated. His crew arrived on time, they worked hard all day and when they left at the end of the project our entire yard looked clean and neat. They built a lovely walkway and I was so happy to see my vision come to life. Nicholas even built up a planting bed alongside the walkway and edged it so nicely. The final result was even better designed than I had hoped for. You can tell that a professional with drainage experience did the job. I also liked how he did not nickel and dime me. They graded, seeded and laid hay down over the adjacent area to our walkway at no additional charge. It was just part of the whole deal. Nicolas Hardscapes did a fantastic job on my walkway, wall, and landing installation. The work was thorough, the clean-up was immaculate, and the design was beautiful, showing a real artistic eye for enhancing the existing landscape in a functional and attractive way. Nicolas was extremely responsive and accommodating to our requests to change dates and modify the project. (We ended up delaying the project due to my husband's employment and we felt like Nicolas helped us adjust the plans in a way that gave us high quality results with a lower budget.) Additionally, he followed up to make sure we were totally satisfied with our work, coming back to make an adjustment for improved drainage after some heavy spring rains. This company does really incredible work with a lot of personal attention to detail and follow up. Our project took about 3 days, starting and stopping on time, was well planned and went smoothly. When we booked our project with this company, we knew there was a 2 month wait for the work because they complete one job at a time and really focus on quality. Working with this company is totally worth the short wait required as I've rarely found this kind of quality, customer service, and reasonable pricing in one package. I cannot be more pleased with the work Nicolas and his crew did for me! I had estimates from 3 different providers and I definitely made the right choice. I have a good-sized courtyard and wanted to replace the existing 12x18 patio as well as a retaining wall all around the garden area. When Nicholas came out (in the rain) to look it over, we discussed what I wanted and he gave me a choice of materials that would work best. I chose Dublin cobble pavers for the patio and Stonegate for the wall. I had an estimate the very next day. I set the date for a couple of months out and he called to confirm a few days before starting. He brought a team of 4 men and he was also on-site every day assisting them. Nicolas and the whole crew were polite, professional, and very detail oriented. Hardscaping is very intense physical labor and they worked non-stop every day for 8-9 hours. Some re-design was needed to ensure proper drainage and Nicolas was very careful to explain everything in detail. Every day he asked if I had questions or concerns and reviewed the plan for the day. As the final day approached, I could not believe how the design came together! It is absolutely more beautiful than I could have imagined. And, they completely cleaned up after themselves! It looked like a picture out of a magazine when they left. Please call Nicolas for any hardscaping needs. You will not be disappointed!!!

Nicolas was extremely responsive, had excellent ideas, was always prompt, and his crew were very polite and extremely hard working. We had to reschedule a few times due to the snow/ice we had over the winter. Nicolas always communicated with me and gave me plenty of lead time to make any adjustments to my personal schedule to provide access to our back yard. He checked with me each afternoon before the crew left the property to make sure I was happy with what was being done, and to ask if there were any details I was not happy about. He provided as much info as possible about caring for the new sod, and really took pride in the work he and his crew performed. The job was completed in less time than was expected. An adjustment was made to the original plan as Nicolas saw that what he had planned with the river bed would end up causing another puddling area. This was extended with no additional cost. We were very pleased with the work and are very happy with our new back yard!

They came out to do the estimate and were very nice, but I decided not to pursue the project right now.

Nicolas did an excellent job for us. He knows pavers and is extremely detail oriented and creative. HIs workers clean-up each day and arrive promptly at 7am. He kept us updated as to the progress and timeline of the work. He understands the nuances with respect to drainage issues. He re-routed a gutter drainage pipe for us that was incorrectly installed.

Nicolas and crew work as a well oiled machine. I met with Nicolas to discuss my project, he asked the right questions of me, to make sure I knew what I was asking for, and showed me some options. I had some cost concerns, so he also offered me some alternatives to lower the cost. In the end I went with my first choice, and it was work the investment. I needed a functional retaining wall that would actually keep things in place, but I also wanted to make sure it looked nice with the surroundings. Nicolas also took the time to explain to me exactly what would be done, and how all of the materials work together to provide strength and adequate drainage. The day of the job, these guys were here on time and ready to work. I couldn't help but watch and admire the well organized assembly line operation they had going on. The wall is made up of different size pieces to make a more natural look, so one guy was out front laying the pieces out in patterns, another guy was taking the organized pieces back to the work area. At the work area they had the measuring done and were digging the necessary trenches, another guy placing the stones/leveling and pounding them into place, while someone pounded the pins into place (provides the stability). They also went above and beyond what I thought was included in the estimate, by grading some other areas that weren't draining properly, and then went even further by spreading grass seed and straw on those newly graded areas. So to summarize...Nicolas and crew were all friendly and professional, punctual, hard working, and above all, very skilled at what they do. The job was finished in a single day, and he even followed up after the next rain to make sure things were looking good and draining as expected. So bottom line...I highly recommend Nicolas for any of your hardscaping and draining projects.

From the start Nicolas was always extremely responsive. If I texted him with any questions or concerns from the estimate phase, construction and even after completion he always responded almost immediately. During the gathering estimate phase I decided that we wanted to do something different than what we originally talked about, Nicolas came out the very next day and drew an outline to make sure we were on the same page. The construction took 2.5 days and they were extremely courteous and always cleaned up the job site after each day. Afterwards, there were a couple issues - two stones had been turned upside down, the step down was slanted and we didn't like the way it looked and the workers had mistakenly filled in our drainage ditch with top soil. We called Nicolas that night and he came out the very next day, fixed the stone and the mud and came out later to fix the step once he had the materials. The one thing that bothers me is that the side closest to our deck is slanted quite a bit, enough for the naked eye to see. I called to complain, and he patiently explained that it was a drainage issue and he would be more than willing to come out and fix even though it was a huge task. The result would be though that the patio would pool with water more when it rains. He even said that we could completely switch the way the patio slants if that is what would make me happy, and he could come out tomorrow to take elevations with me. All in all - you can't go wrong with Nicolas. He will make sure that at the end of the day you get what you want and are happy with your project.

They did a nice job. Nicolas, the owner, is very responsive and helpful. The crew worked hard and cleaned up after themselves. We would use them again.

It went great! Nicolas was wonderful to work with. He took special care to be sure that water was directed away from the house. He was always on time and cordial. His price came in lower that a prior quote we had. He was easy to work with on the design. The pavers look great, and we now have 2 new beds ready for plants. The most delightful part of working w/ Nicolas and his team was the attention to details - including a few that were not directly related to the project! We asked him to use some of the excavated dirt from the pathway to fill in a rut we had in the back - he filled the rut, groomed the whole area, and laid down grass seed. The most surprising was when he asked for a ladder (why would a paver project need a ladder, we wondered?) He wanted to conceal a cable going to the roof, so tucked it under the drainpipe so it would look better. We will hire him again, and look forward to it!

Nicolas and his crew installed a beautiful paver patio with two (2) stone benches. Also installed brick edging along the side and front of our home. The service performed by Nicolas and his crew was outstanding. He use the finest products and they were reliable and very professional. .Nicolas worked with the structural engineer to ensure that the drainage was corrected and enhanced. Now there is a six inch pipe going directly into the natural area where is is supposed to go and the landscape grass and shrubs are protected. Nicolas helped us select the best paver materials to build our new retaining wall and the end result is not only functional but beautiful. Nick improved the landscaping with new turf and grass builder. He gave us lots of advice on how to carefor the new growth. We absolutely love our new retaining wall and the surrounding area. The guys had all the equipment and tools they needed to handle every situation during the six days they worked on the property. They were very professional and courteous and did above and beyond the original scope of the job quote. They hauled away all the debris from their work and the yard looks beautiful.

Nicolas is a professional who has great pride in his work. He guaranteed his work for 3 years. I will use him again for additional work, although his costs have gone up considerably.

Julie helped us with the process of planning our project and selecting just the right stone-even meeting us at the brickyard to help us sort through all of the options. Nicolas provided a vision for the project design and made sure to consider not only the aesthetics of the patio but functionality as well. The crew was very professional and extremely tidy. Nicholas and his team did great work. He is a perfectionist, making sure that every detail is seen to. We had drainage issues and he made sure that the patio he built not only looked great, but it drained nicely away from the house. They went above and beyond what we had asked, spreading straw and grass seed over the dirt that was relocated when grading. I would definitely recommend their services.

We had a great experience with Nicolas and Julie. I initially met with Julie in May to discuss our water drainage issues, neighbor water runoff, and patio installation. I received the quote promptly and after speaking with a few other providers, we chose Nicolas. Nicolas came out and reviewed the trouble areas and we revised the plan to accompany his recommendations. Our yard is at the bottom of a bowl between our two neighbors, so we receive a large amount of water runoff. We had a soggy area in our yard and after discussing it with Nicolas he recommended extending the flower bed to cover that area and that French drains probably wouldn't fix the problem. We had two other company's suggest French drains to remedy the area. My wife and I appreciated his feedback on that issue. Nicolas offered up solid recommendations for our yard and didn't try to add on additional extras. We had the rock beds and drainage installed in July. They had a last minute opening and knocked out the two beds and extra drainage in two days. The relief my wife and I have can't be expressed enough. We dreaded every heavy rain storm since we would just wash parts of our backyard wash away. Now we can enjoy watching our own mini river flow across and out of our backyard onto the flood plain behind our house. Nicolas and his team spent two days on this project. The rest of the project was completed in early September. Nicolas and his team spent four work filled days to prepare the retaining walls and patio area. Nicolas and his team arrived before 7 each morning and worked hard all four days. I was amazed with how quickly and efficiently Nioclas and his team works. The crew is very courteous and incredibly hard working. The retaining walls have drainage placed behind them to help direct water away from the base of the walls. The patio is amazing and has a custom shape to it. I appreciated Nicolas being on site each day and knowing that he was entirely focused on my project. Everything turned out better than we could have imagined.

I had Julie come out for an estimation and unfortunately we had a little misunderstanding (my fault). I thought that the pathway will be done with Cambridge stone bc I already have a patio with that stone. When Julie said the pathway would be matched to the patio she probably meant the color matching but I thought of the style. Anyway I should have been more specific. So when Nicolas came out to wait for the truck to arrive and I saw the shape of the stones (very similar to brick) I was kind of disappointed. I like when the pavers has different shapes. Nicolas assured me that I will be very happy with the outcome even if it wasn't what I pictured in my mind. He was right! Let me first mention the professionalism I experienced with Nicolas's company. I have never seen anyone show up at 6.30 in the morning to start their work IN TIME! Most contractors taking their sweet time and if I am lucky they might show up around 9 AM. Most of them finish their daily work by 3 PM and call it a day of work. Not Nicolas's crew. They are all hardworking, very courteous and especially Nicolas who was very sensible for all of my requests. The project was done in two days and they made sure that I was happy with the outcome. I was! Since that some of my neighbors came over and ask his number for their future project and my friends are all very impressed with his work. I can happily recommend Nicolas company to anyone but perhaps to be a little bit smarter than I was and make sure how exactly the stones (shape) look like before the truck arrives!!!!

Nicholas and crew installed a paver patio and retaining wall in my backyard. I had them come out because of their excellent referrals on Angie's List. They did not disappoint. Nicholas was always there to answer my questions or concerns as well as offered suggestions on the design of my patio. His crew are punctual, efficient and hardworking. The completed patio/retaining wall is outstanding! Not only that but it drains well. That was key; I needed a patio that could be built with proper drainage and it drains perfectly. Mr Nicolas & his team performed meticulous work in installing patio & walkway in backyard with considerations to possible fence replacement in future (i was glad he thought to ask me)& also installed pipes for cable wire & ac drainage.-as a result the patio also looked clutter free & clean.the patio was laid out in design I chose & looked great.It was perfectly levelled as i am very particular about attention to details in workmanship.There was a lot of prep work prior to patio installation & perimeters were finished off properly as well .Very happy to have found Nicolas hardscapes & drainage through Angies list..

Amazingly fast work even in the August heat. We planned the design by looking at models he had in his back yard. He ordered the materials the next day. He and his crew were here early as scheduled on the first of the 2 1/2 day install. They worked hard and did a great job. I hope to enjoy our patio for many years to come.

Both Nicolas and Julie were great to work with. Julie came out and gave us an estimate very quickly, and although we had to wait about 2 months to get on the schedule, It was worth the wait. When Nicolas came out to walk the property before they started, he suggested we make some changes to our original plan to improve the aesthetics and he was absolutely right. Once work on the patio began, Nicolas and his team were here bright and early every morning and finished the job in a day and a half. They ended up having to tie down an extra drain and still came in below the price they had originally quoted us. Julie followed up to make sure everything had come out as we'd hoped, and when we expressed a little concern about the sod replacement for the drainage issue, Nicolas himself was out first thing the next morning to take care of it. The customer service was great and we are thrilled with the patio... we have received so many compliments and would definitely use this company again!

We had contacted Nicolas because two of our friends had used him and were very complimentary. We were pleased from beginning to end. What a pleasure to work with Nicolas and Julie, the estimator. They returned telephone messages promptly, were very professional, came when they said they would, listened to what we thought we needed, made good suggestions, and did what they said they would. Nicolas and his crew are very good. The skill shown in re-laying the patio was especially remarkable. Nicholas worked very closely with us and was very conscientious in checking with us to make sure we were happy with the progress. He even accompanied us to pick out the appropriate stones for the walkway. He knows his business, has long experience, and is very good in supervising the job. And he stays with the job until it is done. The crew was organized, capable as a team, and worked hard and conscientiously. After some previous experiences with contractors who were slow to respond or never responded at all, it was a pleasure to work with Nicholas and company. At the end of the job we were impressed that the team cleaned up very carefully, even taking time to search the lawn for small pieces of gravel that might be thrown by the lawn mower.

Had 4 guys that arrived early - (7am) - very hard working. Done each day before noon probably. First day we discussed the project, made sure they were clear on everything that needed to be done. We asked a few questions that led to a change of the plan and installation of a surface catch basin that wasn't originally considered. They then set to work and quickly dug ditches, installed lineer and pipe, tied everything together. Second day the poured gravel, put on soil, seed, straw, etc. I was worried that the lawn would get torn up with their Bobcat, but it did not. Yard looks great with a sort of minimal scar where the french drain went in. There was also not a single piece of gravel left where they had dumped it temporarily in the driveway We had a lot of rain over the weekend and the yard seems to have drained much better than previously.
