See above description! The only other comment I would add is that I am not certain of the exact date they did the work but it was in early summer, 2012!
Description of Work: Miller and Miller Electric repaired two outdoor outlets for us and checked some other electircal problems in the home. The ones inside the home they instructed us on how to fix thus saving us costs. They are a wonderful firm, very professional, were on time, and got back with us extremely quickly on the phone! There is no question we will continue to use their services and I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs electrical work done!!

When I called to make an appointment, I was informed by Gail Miller to call the electrical company, which I did. But since I never heard from them and the problem kept happening, we called for an appointment. Mr. Miller came in and checked out our electrical system because of our flickering lights and power outages. He was very thorough in looking for potential problems. He concluded that it was the between the meter and the street. He even called the electrical company on our behalf.

I called Miller & Miller Electric and spoke with Gail Miller, telling her I'd like for him to come out the following week after I had an opportunity to clean up the house a bit. Mr. Miller called me the next day and I described the problem to him. After assuring me that it sounded like an electrical problem, we set up an appointment. At the set time, he arrived very promptly and was both very professional and very efficient. He examined my circuit box and told me that I had good-quality equipment there, which was one of my concerns since the house is over 50 years old. He then asked where the outside box was located. In five minutes, he returned to the inside and told me he had found the problem. I had apparently had a fire in the outside box which put the house somewhat in danger. It would take two days to repair, and unfortunately, he was booked solid for the rest of November. He very kindly recommended another service to me and wrote down their phone number with exactly what I should tell them needed to be done. Mr. Miller charged me nothing for the trip he made. The other company he recommended came out within an hour and fixed my problem. I'm taking the time to write a review because of the professional and caring manner Mr. Miller showed. He called me later the same afternoon because he was worried I would not have heat for the next few days, and was going to try to work out something if I could not get immediate service. I happily told him his recommendation had come through very promptly and how grateful I was to him for both his diagnosis and his concern. I wholeheartedly recommend Miller and Miller, and will use him in the future.
Description of Work: I've been having intermittent problems with the heat in my house for two years now (it has been turning off and on for no apparent reason). The final problem took my hot water and the heat in my dryer with it.

.They were not able to replace a second motion detector light because they did not have a light to replace the old one. This was a new light with new wiring and it had been my understanding that they were bringing the replacement light with them. Actually, they called us from Lowe's earlier that morning to tell us that they were at Lowe's buying all the necessary parts. We were disappointed that they did not have a replacement. There was also confusion about installing a pole light at the end of our walkway. I was given an estimate for what I thought included the installation of the light. Mr. Miller said that the electricity could be pulled from the house and placed underground for a short distance to reach the end of the walk. He showed me where the wire would run. My husband and I went out and bought a pole light, but when his employees returned to do the work, we were told that we needed to hire someone else to dig the trench. That was all that was said. They did not say that they would get someone and work with whomever dug, only that we needed to get someone else to dig the trench. Maybe this is standard practice. I really do not know. At that point my husband and I were so frustrated with the communication, we just decided to get someone else to do the work.
Description of Work: We really do not want to give these folks a bad review. But, we do not want to give a good one either. I do not object, if you do not include our rating. Our overall perception was that they were just "fair". Part of our dissatisfaction may have been because of communication problems. I called originally for an audit. We live in an older home and therefore have some older wiring that I was concerned about. I was told of several items that were not up to code, but was also told that the connections were not dangerous so I chose not to correct the code problems. As it developed, we were later told by Mr. Miller's employees that there was no code violation. Mr. Miller performed the audit. I am not exacty clear on the timing, but the company installed a new connection for our new dishwasher and a GFC for our existing washing machine. They also made tighter connections where outlet covers were loose and replaced a motion detector light. They did have to add new wiring to this motion detector.

Customer, Sorry to hear that you are now unhappy with our service since it was done in July, especially after I called yoiu to make sure that you were happy and you indicated that we did a great job! Your invoice was not $2000.00, it was $938.00. I think you may be somewhat confused especially after the amount of time that has lapsed. We are very upfront to discuss that we NEVER dig trenches for underground applications and do offer optioni for this service, as we did for you. As for the motion light and speaking with our techs their memory was that we did not have a motion light in stock that morning and that was the reason for calling you from Lowes and you were not charged for this. We strive to keep the communication lines open with every customer; however, on occassions customers don't hear what we say. We are sorry that you are upset and wish you would have said so when we spoke, we build customers for life and will do whatever it takes to do so. I sincerely hope that you will reconsider our company and I will mail you a gift certificate today to help with your frustration. When a company such as Miller and Miller Electric goes above and beyond EVERYTIME to do the best possible work and offer the best customer service in the industry this is very disconcerning, especially when we have so many, many great reviews on Angie's List.

From start to finish, our experience with Miller and Miller Electric Inc was excellent. Every person we spoke with from Miller and Miller Electric was courteous, professional and eager to please. Our technicians called 30 minutes prior to arriving promptly at the designated time. My Wife gave the technicians a quick tour of the project sites and the work began almost immediately. The quality of the work is excellent and we were especially impressed with how clean the site was left after the work was complete. I arrived home not long after the work was complete and I honestly couldn't tell workmen had been there aside from our project being completed. The technicians communicated very clearly with my Wife and offered her a few options to shave off a dollar here and there off the project instead of just doing it one way. Overall they came in several hundred dollars under budget on our job because they worked so diligently. Suffice it to say we were impressed. I highly recommend Miller and Miller Electric Inc for any of your electrical needs. We will be hiring them again when we have our next electrical project.
Description of Work: Installed Juno under cabinet LED lighting (3 units). Installed a ceiling fixture box and fixture in the kitchen. Installed motion detecting LED flood lights (2 units) on the back of the house.

The Miller and Miller electrician called to confirm the appointment and came promptly on time. He investigated the problem and determined that he needed help so he called the owner who came immediately. Together, they diagnosed the problem and corrected it. (The electrician also corrected a couple of other small electical problems that I mentioned to him.) I was not charged for the entire time that the electrican was on the job and nothing for the owner!! They were both extremely courteous and professional.

Excellent. He was extremely responsive, had good communication, did professional work, and was very good all-around. I would highly recommend his work, and would hire him again.
Description of Work: Mr. Miller replaced a faulty outdoor outlet and installed new porch lights. He consulted me on the phone beforehand to tell me the best kind of light to buy, with the best value but good range. I was replacing a lot of indoor outlet covers, and he came back and helped me with a tricky 3-way switch later in the week.

A fantastic experience! I clearly got more than my money's worth. We determined that there were several issues which had compromised my house: 1) wires in my garage which werent installed correctly and were not up to code. 2) Electrical outlets which were loose and could start a fire. 3) Switches which were not working and I couldnt figure out where they were connected to. They made a list of recommendations for improvement of my house's electrical performance. I am actually going forward with their recommendations. They are scheduled to come out tomorrow and to fix the current issues. I was quite relieved to hear that my wires were copper and that the things which were were an issue could be easily fixed. Im going to sleep better at night because of this examination......

The entire experience was great. I had purchased the $99 inspection deal on Angie's List. No sooner had I completed the purchase than I received a call from Gail Miller to schedule an appointment. On the day of the inspection, Dale Miller arrived very punctually and performed a complete electrical inspection from attic to crawl space. I had previously lost powet to my shed; he identified the cause as a problem with a switch and got it working again. I was extremely impressed with the customer service and professionalism of MIller & Miller Electronics.

We had a few outlets that were not working after a recent storm. We reset the breakers, but that didn't seem to make a difference. I called Miller & Miller, based on my careful reviews on Angie's List of their work. The woman who answered the phone (I believe she said her name was Gail), started asking me detailed questions after my initial description of the problem. She said "I'm asking you all these questions for a reason. I think I have some advice that might save you a service call." Based on her conversation, I again verified where I had outages, reset the breakers again, and everything is now working. So I spent nothing, and yet got great service. This says a lot about the integrity and professionalism of the company. I'll definitely call them next time I have any electrical needs.

They did a very thorough inspection. They checked all my outlers, the breaker, and found some issues to be addressed. They gave me a very thorough report and an estimate for their services in case I wanted them to fix everything. The guy they sent out later was on time and was very skilled. He addressed all the issues from the inspection report, and finished sooner than expected per the estimate. The service was excellent, the worker was clean, and polite. I am totally satisfied, and I will use them again in the future.

My wife arrived home to find that the upstairs hallway lights were not working. Other lights in the house were working. When I got home, she told me about it. I checked the fuse box first. No problem there. I went upstairs and flipped the light switches for the lights and nada -zip. Nothing. I broke out my computer around 8:00 PM or 8:30 and turned to ANgie's List. I found Miller and Miller right away. I used their website to put in a call back request not expecting anything to be done until the next morning. Within five to ten minutes, Dale, the owner, called me back. WOW! He asked questions, worked through possibilities and said that he could have a guy stop by first thing the next morning. He also covered pricing with me. The next morning, Carl, a Miller and Miller employee, showed up five minutes early. I took him upstairs and showed him the problem. He was courteous, and aware of respecting our home. Here's the thing, this is a new home to us. It was my father's home, and though I had been in it a few times, I had never tracked down everything. My father only owned it for a little over a year or two. Turns out that instead of a 2-way switch, there were actually 3 switches for the hall light. Carl found the third switch by our daughter's room and discovered that it was stuck in the mid (no contact) position. Once he flipped it, the lights came on. He then took off the faceplate, made sure that there was nothing wrong with the switch and then reassembled it. He stated that it was a fluke, and not to worry, that the switch was newer and in good condition. We were embarrassed and relieved at the same time. We insisted that he let us pay him for the hour and he resisted. I said, "Have the boss put it on credit then, because we will definitely use you again." Finally, he gave in and took the check. Later that morning my wife got a call from the owner saying that she would not cash the check. Not for five minutes and flipping a switch. How nice is that? Needless to say, we will definitely being using these pros again. Miler & Miller (and Carl) rock!

Dale from Miller and Miller was contacted due to posting found on Angie's list. The first time he came out was to help with an over the range microwave install. He gave us an estimate and the work was perfomed by one of his team members with ease. Because they were so well to work with we had Dale come back for an estimate for under and over the cabinet lighting for our kitchen. Dale came out looked at our set up and gave us an estimate for the hours and materials needed to complete the job. Dale came back on 8/31 with two of his crew to get them started. He again went over the estimate, checked the materials and found one thing was missing so ran to get the parts while the others started on the work. Dale returned with the parts that were missing said if they finished early the pricing would be adjusted down and we would pay when the work was completed. Dale's crew worked so fast we couldn't believe it. They found a problem with are existing breaker for the fridge when re- wiring the switches for the lighting and fixed it for us at no additional cost. They were professional and kept us informed of all the work they were doing. We love the way the lighting turned out and will definitely have them back for other work and projects we want to complete. Thank you Miller and Miller you and your team are fantastic!!!!
Description of Work: The first time we used Miller and Miller was in June we had them install electrical for an over the counter microwave. They were able to determine that we already had a separate circuit in our electrical box making install much easier and more costly. The most recent was on 8/31 we had outlets put above our kitchen cabinets for rope lighting to be installed and we had under the counter lighting installed that was recommend by Miller and Miller to go with the new counters we were having installed.

One of the GFCI switches in our kitchen tripped and could not be reset. Unfortunately this was the circuit that our kitchen stove was on which meant that we were unable to cook. Dale, one of the owners was extremely responsive, he was able to come out to the house the following day. His communication about arrival timing was excellent. Dale, one of the owners, described up front exactly how his pricing worked and that he billed on an hourly basis. Usually, finding out why a GFCI circuit is breaking is a pretty quick process, but our house is older (1915) and some of the wiring had been previously modified in an unusual way that Dale felt was dangerous. He made the modifications that he felt were necessary, consistently giving me good feedback about what he was doing and why. When the circuit continued to trip, he went into the crawl space and found rodent damage to the wiring which he repaired. To be certain, Miller and Miller is not a discount electrician service, but I don't want a discount service for something as important as electrical work. I think Dale charges a fair price for the level of knowledge and professionalism he brings to the job. I was also impressed by the integrity he showed with the way handled the time calculations. He was interrupted by several phone calls as he worked, and he deducted the time he spent on the phone from final amount. I plan to hire him again in the near future to conduct a review of all the electrical services in the house.
Description of Work: Searched for the cause of a short in one ouf our kitchen circuits, found and repaired several places where wiring had been poorly done in the past then found a large section of siring under the house that had been damaged by rodents.

Dale Miller was a pleasure to work with. He always showed up when he said he was going to, and made sure we knew exactly what work he was performing in the house. He also worked for us when we were getting the HVAC systems worked on at our house. He did the work on time, and then showed up each time the electrical inspector came to the house. I would highly recommend Dale Miller in the future.
Description of Work: We bought a house from the 1950's that needed a lot of electrical work. The service to the house from the street had to be redone, and the electrical boxes inside the house had to be replaced as well. During the course of the work, Mr. Miller found a number of issues with the way the electrical service had been run to the house, as well as issues with the wiring inside the house. In each case, he let us know what he had found, and how he was going to deal with it.

I had track lighting in my kitchen and the owner came out when the transformer blew. He was very responsive and flexible with my in-flexible work schedule. Instead of replacing the transformer, I opted to have recessed lighting installed. Two guys came out, 15 minutes early for the appointment and worked for three hours to install the lights. They were very professional and respectful of my home. We discussed pros and cons of placement and when they were not able to place one of the lights where I wanted due to plumbing, we discussed alternatives. My satisfaction was their priority. The final cost came in slightly below the estimate! It has now been several weeks since the lighting was installed and I am still a very satisfied customer. Miller and Miller was extremely quick to respond, give estimate and service my house. I had to chnge original date of service and the were very flexible and quick to get me back on the schedule. They were professional, clean cut, speedy and very fairly priced. I will recommend Miller and Miller without hesitation.
Description of Work: I had all of my floodlights replaced and a new fixture installed in a pantry. I originally thought I had to replace all my fixtures outside, however, Dale was honest and told me that was not necessary

They were very responsive & very professional. We ran into some issues with framing of our living room ceiling - we could not install recessed lights in the pattern we originally designed. The guys worked with us to come up with something nice, and it turned out great. We were very happy with the result, and it was done fast. Great professionalism & flexibility.
Description of Work: Install 2 new ceiling fans, add a light to one ceiling fan, repair broken attic fan, install recessed lighting (6 lights in living room)

Overall, it was a very good consumer experience dealing with Miller and Miller. Gail (an owner who also handles the scheduling) was very cordial in speaking with me. I was impressed that she had empathy over my bad lightning experience. So many people you contact for services only seem to care about the money and show no compassion when something unsettling like this occurs. She treated me like a friend which I so appreciated. Gail did tell me that typically a lightning inspection is handled differently than an overall inspection and that they typically bill hourly in these kind of cases. However, since I had already bought the deal and they wanted to help me since I had just raised my insurance deductible, they made an exception to my situation. I was most grateful and told Gail that. I had originally scheduled the inspection to be handled by Dale (one of the owners). He had spoken to me on the phone and answered my questions prior to the inspection. He, like Gail, was very professional, personable and kind. The morning of the inspection I got a call from Dale asking me whether I wanted to reschedule my inspection for another day when he could come or have Ricky, one of their best technicians to come out and have him complete the inspection that day. Dale had an emergency call that morning which he said he needed to attend to. I agreed as I wanted to get this inspection completed asap to give my insurer a clear idea of what electrical work would need repair and at what cost. Ricky called to confirm the appointment and showed up soon after that. He was very polite, clean and friendly. He clearly knew exactly what he was doing and was also very professional. He methodically went through my electrical outlets, breaker box, attic and crawl space looking for hazards and potential hazards. The inspection took close to two hours. He showed me a list of current and potential hazards that he came up with during his review. He gave me a projected labor and materials cost and happily answered any of my questions. Later, Gail prepared a sheet for me to send to my insurer which she said was not standard for an Angie's List Deal but she wanted to help me out. I again thanked her for this added courtesy. I would highly recommend Miller and Miller to others looking for some honest, friendly and knowledgeable electrical work. Their outstanding electrical knowledge and personal manner all around is truly memorable!
Description of Work: I bought the whole house electrical inspection after lightning had struck my home July 27, 2012. The deal just happened to coincide with what I needed which was a real plus.

Our house is over 3000 square feet and was built around 1977. The interior wiring is copper. We found them professional, knowledgeable and thorough. He examined all connections in the electrical panel and every switch and outlet that he could get to (those covered by heavy furniture he is not able to reach). He found an issue with one of the surge protectors we were using, recommending replacing certain kitchen outlets not on a GFCI breaker with GFCI outlets and recommended calling the power company for another issue he found at the meter (which we have done). Based on our experience, my wife and I have decided to contract with him to resolve some of the issues he found during the inspection.

To Angie's list members, please note, if you purchase something like this keep in mind that you are purchasing an inspection report. You are not automatically purchasing repair/install work of anything found during the inspection.
