He did an excellent job. He didn't mess up any of the drywall. He is very professional. I liked the fact that dale will take on small jobs. He also advised us to put on a surge protector for the TV, something that we didn't even think about.

The Miller's responded quickly to my e-mail query to setup a time for the inspection. Dale Miller performed the inspection. He started by listening to what problems we were having, really not many, and what we wanted to get out of the inspection. Over the years, we've had a few contractors and some DIY projects done in the house. We wanted to be sure everything was up to code. Dale completed his inspection starting from our attic, through the house and finished in our crawlspace. His inspection was thorough and comprehensive. The list of things found were of the order of loose receptacles, open junctions, missing GCFI protection on a couple places, missing ground wire on gas meter and our non-functioning flood lights. The Millers were glad to help with the whole list or any portion of the list. Next, Miller & Miller sent Technician Carl to take care of our "punch list". Carl was extremely professional. When he arrived, we discussed from the list what he was going to do, how long it may take and what to expect. Carl planned his work carefully to be as efficient as possible. With as little disruption as possible, Carl fixed everything we discussed, reviewed the work with me, explained how the work was warranted. The work was done completely, neatly and on target for the estimate. I do think that Carl's talent and organizational skills allowed him to finish the work in less time than estimated. All in all, Miller & Miller were a delight to work with. We would definitely recommend and use them again.
Description of Work: We took advantage of an Angie's List coupon for a home electrical inspection. We hired Miller & Miller to fix the items found during the inspection.

The service provider was prompt and courteous. He seemed knowledgable and professional. I thought the cost might have been a bit high, but the work was well done.
Description of Work: Light fixtures were removed from 2 homes and installed in a third. Three additional lights were installed in one of the homes. The boxes where 2 of the light fixtures needed to be modified.

Everything was done perfectly and he even ran the vacuum over the carpet when he finished. The service was not cheap, but it was worth the expense. I would recommend them to anyone needing electrical work.
Description of Work: I purchased a unique chandelier for my dining room. The previous owner of the house had 2 pendant lights in the ceiling, so I needed to have the fixture I bought installed and recessed lights installed where the previous fixtures were. I also needed an exterior landscape fixture replaced that had been broken during the move. Ricky arrived promptly, and went to work installing the new fixture and the two recessed lights in the dining room. He did an excellent job; he was patient - I could not make up my mind about the height of the chandelier - and he made several adjustment until I was satisfied, which was not easy feat since the room has very high ceilings. He then went to work on the outside. everything was done perfectly and he even ran the vacuum on the carpet when he finished. The service was not cheap; but the quality of service was worth the expense. I will recommend them to anyone needing electrical work.

See above. I requested a quote on ther web site on Wednesday. Received a prompt reply within minutes via phone. They accomodated my schedule for the time of the work. All work was done in four hours (quote was for four and a half.) Extra materials were required above those I had on hand. Their prices reasonable for both time and materials compared to another quote and the price of items at Home Depot.
Description of Work: Ricky of Miller & Miller Electric installed a new ceiling fan. In addition he replaced ballasts and tubes in three flourscent light fixtures, installed two new ceiling light kits, repaired three broken light fixtures and replaced an outside flood light and reset the timing on it. He tested two bathroom fans that were not working and the breaker panel to be sure that all wiring was operating properly. He was right on target for time and cost estimate that were provided in advance by Dale. Ricky was on time and very courteous. He listened to our concerns and followed up on every one. I would highly recommend Miller & Miller Electric to anyone needing a skilled electrical tech.

Great experience from start to finish. Entered info on their website to see about an appointment and they called us about it very quickly. When setting up the appointment, the gentleman my husband spoke to (didn't get your name, my apologies) discussed possible causes for our problems and gave us a detailed estimate for what it might cost, depending on what they found during the service call. Also, he suggested that we go ahead and buy a replacement for the ceiling fan that we liked in case the existing one couldn't be repaired because that would save us the cost of a second service trip, which was good advice. The day of the appointment, Ricky called to see if it would be ok to come out 15 min early, and arrived exactly when he said he would. He was professional and courteous, fixed everything quickly, explained what he was doing, and gave advice on what the options were for the lights. Also, he was patient and helpful while I was trying to decide about how to proceed regarding the ceiling fan light, which I appreciated. Even though our work items were inexpensive fixes, we were treated as a valued customer throughout the process. I would highly recommend Miller and Miller, and will call them again if we need electrical work.

Showed up right on time, had a slight scheduling mix-up, but was very flexible in changing the date so that I could be at the house when the work was done. My wife noticed that our built-in oven turned on by itself and displayed a fault mode where it was heating to >500 degrees since the early afternoon. No buttons turned it off or reset the fault. I arrived home and killed all the power in my breaker box, but the oven was still powered, and I could find no breaker to shut it off. I called the power company to find out where other disconnects might be, but got no useful assistance. Having had a great previous experience with Miller & Miller within the last year (see my previous review), I called on a Friday night after business hours, and was able to get Dale Miller. He spent over an hour back an forth with phone calls and emailing pictures to help me locate the house main breaker and oven disconnect switches. Their location and that they were separate from the rest of the house's power panel surprised me. Mr. Miller spent his time, on a Friday night after hours, and saved me an emergency service charge by being willing to work his out over the phone. I thank him for doing that -- very classy, very neighborly, and a smart business move.

We have been engaged with a variety of different contractors in our home renovation process doing a variety of different types of work, and this outfit has been among the best. We picked Miller and Miller based upon the outstanding reviews we found here on Angie's List, and after talking with a couple of other possibilities. We are certainly glad we did. They have been patient with questions, professional with explaining things (no one in our family is especially proficient with electrical work), and consistently on time. A relatively minor billing issue came up and it was promptly resolved in a reasonable and professional manner. Most importantly, the lighting in our home has never been better. 3 main living areas, plus some work on the back deck, have dramatically improved the function and appearance of the lighting of our house, updating to a cleaner look with more variations available to us. We also asked M&M to install some newer wireless home automation-type controls for our lights, which they did readily and happily. We have more work to do on our house, but will undoubtedly call Miller and Miller for all lighting and electrical work we may need.
Description of Work: We chose Miller and Miller to do a thorough re-lighting of the main living area of the first floor of our home. The impetus for the work was a flood that required several lighting and other fixtures to be replaced, but we decided, in part based upon design consultation with these guys, to revamp the way we light our home.

These guys were very nice and did a great job with our installation, but we were quoted a price that they didn't stand by in the end. They came out to install a new chandelier in our foyer. When they got here, the company we bought the light from hadn't included an extension chain. They installed the light with what they had and did a great job. The charge was right at $200. Later, when the extension chain came, we called them again and were told that to rehang it with the longer cord would run around $100. We got them back out and they again did a really nice job hanging the light. The only surprise was, once they were done, we were presented with a bill for $300. My husband talked to the male owner who would not stand by his wife's quote from earlier. They did only charge us for the time they were there, but they should be more careful quoting jobs if the real bill is going to be 3 times what they say it will be.
Description of Work: Hung a new chandelier in the foyer and then came back to add an extension chain/cord and lower the light.

We want you to know that you are a valued customer of Miller and Miller Electric and we are sorry for the misinformation that you feel you received. We have been in the electrical business for several years and are proud of the esteem marks we have earned by being a fair, honest and transparent company. Since inception of our business we have worked on a time and material basis for reasons we will be happy to explain. I would like to recap what actually happened in your specific situation. You phoned the office and did in fact speak to me (Gail). You stated that the parts to lengthen the chandelier had arrived, you asked how long it would take to lengthen it and I “estimated” 1 to 1.5 hours of labor and like I tell EVERYONE, it is just an estimate. When Dale returned to the office we went over your job and he informed me that it required a 14’ ladder and 2 men (just like before when it was hung) at that time he picked up the phone to let you know that; the “estimate” went to 1 – 1.5 man hours x 2. When the Technicians actually got the fixture down they found that it had to be completely retrofitted because the correct parts had not been shipped. This required a trip to the supply store (that you were not charged for). After the Technicians completed the retrofitting they took it down and rehung it 3 times while waiting for you to decide what length you wanted it hung. Unfortunately, this took additional time. Bottom line 3.5 labor hours were spent on your project, you were charged for 2.5 hours. In addition, when we originally spoke I told you that I felt bad that you had not received the correct parts from Restoration Hardware and I would give you a discount, which we did. We also gave you a break on the first installation. After you got the invoice you called the office to speak with Dale and asked him to take additional monies off because you were only getting $190.00 from Restoration Hardware for their error. Your bill totaled $289.24 including tax and material minus the $190.00 from Restoration Hardware leaving a balance of $99.24 net payable by you. We understand your problem, but we don’t feel that your frustration should be toward Miller and Miller Electric. Possibly you may be able to get the balance from Restoration Hardware due to the fact that the correct parts were not sent the second time. We are happy to write a letter for you to give to Restoration Hardware explaining the issues if necessary. Thank you again for your business.

Miller & Miller Electric were outstanding. I called them mid-morning and they were at the house in a matter of a couple hours. The issues were quickly diagnosed and resolved. The electrician was knowledgeable and pleasant and the whole experience couldn't go any better. I will definitely use them for my future electrical needs.
Description of Work: Multiple electrical outlets in the home were not working. 2 tripped GFCI receptacles were found. One was replaced since it wouldn't reset and a new outside plug cover was installed to help prevent the second one from tripping again.

I purchased the fixtures and a new dimmer but when I tried to install the new dimmer it seemed to me that this would be a more complicated procedure so I called the electrician. The fellow who came was very good and got everything installed and working correctly.

We smelled what we thought was burning plastic coming from one of our bathroom outlets. We called Miller and Miller and they were at our house within the hour. Dale is the Master Electrician who helped us out. He checked all of the breakers, all of the bathrooms outlets (not just the one that emitted the smell). He took apart the outlets, searched the wires, checked the crawl space. He couldn't find any breaks or the source of the smell. Dale also checked and made sure that all of our breakers and smoke detectors were working properly. Since he couldn't locate the problem he didn't charge us. Amazing! He spent almost an hour searching high and low for the cause of the smell, but because no source was found he didn't charge us. Then, this morning he followed up with a call to make sure everything was still OK and to see if we smelled the burning smell again. We didn't, but the breaker had been on all night. This weekend we are going to turn the electrical outlets back on and see if the smell returns. Dale will talk to us Monday to find out what happened. He will probably have to tear out some of our wall to locate the problem, but he doesn't want to do that unless we are fairly certain that the problem merits the destruction.
Description of Work: Dale is the Master Electrician from Miller and Miller who helped us out. He checked all of the breakers and all of the outlets that could possibly be involved in causing the smell that was coming from our bathroom outlet. He took apart the outlets, searched the wires, checked the crawl space, then checked and made sure that all of our breakers and smoke detectors were working properly. Since he couldn't locate the problem he didn't charge us.

They showed up on time, reviewed the work that I needed done and gave me an estimate. We were busy moving in, so they were left unsupervised. They obviously didn't need my supervision. They completed the job in a bit less time than expected and did a superior job. They are certainly not inexpensive, but I think it's worth it to get quality workmanship, especially since it's a brand new home.

The problem with a lot of contractors is that they pay their employees under-the-table, do not carry workmans comp or liability insurance. We pay our Tech's an above average wage because they are above average Tech's, we have van upkeep, several types of insurance, warehouse rent, gas, payroll taxes, quarterly and sales tax, on-going education to keep our license current, it adds up. We have not raised our prices in 6 years due to the struggles that people are having with the economy. We are here to stay, we guarantee all of our work and we are always available to our customers whenever they have questions at no charge. We offer free on-site estimates and have been fortunate to convert over 85% of our customers to repeat customers with our value added service. This was a great experience. I called to schedule the appointment on New Year's Eve and even though the office was closed, the owners called that day to schedule the appointment, review the work that I wanted done and give me a rough estimate of both time required and amount. The technician, Karl, called the morning he was scheduled to advise me of his arrival time and was on time. He was very professional and pleasant. After reviewing the work that I wanted done, as he worked, he explained the problem, his recommendation and what he was doing to make the repair or address the issue. One of the outlets that I thought was not working was actually OK. He could easily have told me it wasn't working and replaced it but he didn't. He checked it over and made a repair so it would fit securely in the wall rather than protrude. As he worked, he cleaned up any debris that was created. Finally, he reviewed the invoice and explained all the charges to me. In addition, he was very kind to and tolerant of my pets which is very important to me.
Description of Work: The services performed including installation of GFI outlet on exterior of house, repair of existing exterior GFI outlet, troubleshoot breaker that was tripping and replace breaker, replacement of light switch and repair of two interior outlets that were protruding from wall.

Good experience. I called Gail at Miller and Miller to set up an appointment. She was very professional and set a convenient appointment for the next day. Ricky arrived on time and diagnosed the problem. He found a loose receptacle that was allowing water to enter, tripping the breaker and causing a loss of power. The receptacle was replaced and brought up to code with a bubble cover. The issue was resolved. Ricky was very professional and communicated with me throughout the process about his findings. I have another service scheduled in a few weeks for a total home electrical inspection. This was a great value that was offered by Miller and Miller on Angie's List. I will definitely use Miller and Miller again for any electrical needs.

Mr. Miller was extremely helpful in many ways. First, he gave me advice over the phone for things to try in order to avoid having unnecessary charges. I had been having an extraordinarily high electric bill. When I still could not resolve my problem I called him back and set up an appointment for 2 days later. He called when he was on the way to my house. Then as soon as he arrived he let me know that he would not be charging me for his services that day. I was so surprised and touched. He is an extremely nice, personable man. Eventually he identified the source of my problem, which was something outside of his domain of expertise. He said that when I get someone to make the repair that I need (a friend will help me), I should have that person call him and he would explain what he had found. One seldom encounters this degree of kindness.
Description of Work: Identified source of excessive electricity usage that was making my bill skyrocket.

I realized that the root cause of an HVAC problem I was having was electrical, and as I was getting very concerned I would need services during the weekend right before Christmas, I hopped on Angie's List and found Miller & Miller Electric, Inc. They worked with me over the to phone to troubleshoot what was happening, and patiently walked me through a series of questions and trial and error exercises. Within about 15 minutes we solved the problem (tripped GFI), no service visit required. They were very willing to work with me over the phone in an effort to save me the cost of a visit and suggested we try that approach first before booking an appointment. They also pointed out that this circuit should not have brought down my HVAC blower (best practice is to have a stand-alone circuit for HVAC, whereas mine is connected to a circuit with other connections in the house), so I am bringing that up with my HAVC company. If I need electrical services in the future, including a new rewiring of my HVAC blower, I would definitely reach out to Miller & Miller Electric, Inc.

I had scheduling problems because I had conflicts. The dispatcher worked with me, involving 3 or 4 tel. con.s to the end a mutually workable time was set. Technician also answered questions I had re operation of the lights in question. I was mainly worried about overheating or malfunctioning. He addressed all of my concerns.
Description of Work: Diagnose problem with 4 ceiling lights in bathroom. Alternative solutions proposed, with cost estimates. Fixed on the spot for amount estimated (slightly less, actually). Replaced and rewired switches with one different type of switch. The lights now operate together and work just fine.
