The service technician did a good job. However he was supposed to arrive between 12 and 4 and did not arrive until around 6. M&S called twice to apologize for the delay. I happened to be off work, so it was not a big issue for me. My real problem is that when I called to make the appointment I asked for the price to repair a leaking toilet tank. I explain exactly what the issue was (the valve was faulty, the overflow pipe was too tall and water was leaking through the handle). The dispatcher told me he could not estimate the price. That was not true. When the service tech came to my house he explained that the price would be $238 or $315 and that those were the only two prices that M&S charged for a toilet tank repair. Had I know that they would charge this outrageous price for a job that takes 15 minutes and parts that cost $12, I would not have used their service. This works out to almost $800 per hour for a 15 minute job. It is daylight robbery. The techs only excuse was that all the plumbing companies charge that amount. That is a lame excuse. These companies are robbing people. In the end I went ahead with the repair because I would have had to pay $29 for the service call. To their credit, that is a lot less than the $89 that other plumbers charge just to diagnose the issue. The other reason was because of the Angie's list deal that gave $200 worth of service for $119 that M&S offers. The bottom line is that they did a reasonable job, were late and charge outrageously. $238 to change the valve and flap in a toilet is outrageous. Even with the discount, I paid the equivalent of $560 per hour. But they are no worse than any other plumber I have used. If you use this company and you understand exactly what the work requires and they refuse to give you the cost, call someone else.

Michael and Son promptly sent a representative to evaluate the problems. He did so, advised that Michael and Son would be pleased to do the work and would promptly give me a proposal. However, Michael and Son thereafter failed to make any proposal and failed to respond to my followup emails and telephone calls.
Description of Work: My supplemental home heating system and my domestic hot water heater as originally installed were integrated. The heat source was my boiler. The same heated water circulated through both systems in a single, continuous loop. The hot water storage tank failed. My objective was to replace the failed hot water storage tank with an indirect hot water heater, whose heat source continued to be my boiler, and thereby to reconfigure the system to create two separate loops - domentic hot water separate from supplemental heating. In addition, the supplementary heating system needed additional zone valves and some brass fittings damaged by dezincification due to the use of cloramine by my local water utility. I asked Michael and Son to make a proposal to do the needed work.

I Michael & Son arrived promptly. The technician spent several minutes describing M&S services. He then went out to the generator, stood there for one hour reading a manual. He told me he could not diagnose the problem and that it might take several more diagnostics to repair it and that it would be expensive. He then recommended that I BUY A NEW GENERATOR. I called a second company who came out and after five minutes said the problem was the generator needed a new battery which he replaced. The general is working fine now. A couple of weeks later a Michael employee called to see how the service had gone. I told her I resented being "taken" and that it seemed their tech had come solely to sell me a new generator. (Mine is only 6 years old.) Shortly thereafter I was called by their manager who apologized and offered to pay for the second company's cost if I would fax him their bill, which I did. I wanted to in fairness state that Michael & Son did reimburse me for what I spent with another contractor.

Went very well from start to finish.
Description of Work: Emergency on a holiday weekend - no water at all. Michael & Sons was the company that returned our calls and came the same day. We had multiple problems. The service was performed in such an efficient and professional manner. The company emailed us a bio of the service provider, and diagnostic results and estimates. The entire service experience was positive and at the end we have a solution we expect to perform well for a long long time.

Doing a kitchen remodel and needed a plumber to hook up the new sink to faucet, dishwasher, and garbage disposal. Appointment time was 10-2. They did not show up until after 3- they did call several times to tell me that they were running late. My fault in not knowing the rate but was sick of not having a working kitchen with 2 small children. Long story short- first quote contained a HVAC warranty (don't know how that is related) and this changed the price. You can get a total home warranty for what they are charging for just an HVAC one. Quote was originally for 1200.00 They do not charge by the hour but "industry standards for EACH item" i.e. $350ish to install the strainer that cost $30 tops. $300 to connect your dishwasher, $300 to install your garbage disposal. They installed roughly $50 worth of parts and tubing and here for 2.5 hours. That is $260/hour rate. If we had not complained about the price, you are talking about $460/hour. I think you can find a comparable plumber for a lot less.

We responded to the customer call to complete some plumbing work for a kitchen remodel that they had done. When our plumber arrived he evaluated what needed to be done and, before any work was performed, he quoted the price to complete the job. The estimate did include the cost of a Home Care Agreement which we let all of our customers know about because it entitles them to a 10% discount. After all work was performed a cost complaint was presented to us by Mr. Laur. In an effort to satisfy him we reduced the price by $500. I bought the $200 coupon for $119. They repaired the problems in the house I just purchased but the prices were high and they did a hard sell for an annual maintenance plan. The technician did a superficial look at the issues, went to the truck and returned with an estimate for 1 of the 3 problems and a pitch for a $400 annual plan. The pitch is that the hourly rate is $150 and by the time they look at the 3 items, it pays for the plan. The catch is that the plan does not cover plumbing repairs, it only gives you a 10% discount. One of the items was a slow drain. The charge was almost $300 to run the power-operated snake for a few minutes. Then they found an electrical cut off missing that is supposed to be required by code. Yet, that was not identified by our inspector prior to purchasing the property. He could have missed it, or it could be an unnecessary add on. I was not about to pay for another trip charge, so I told them to proceed. The bill 'after the $200 coupon' was $800. (for the maintenance plan, unclogging a drain, unclogging a faucet, and installing the cut off. I've seen their commercial on TV quite often, I guess I know how they pay for it. Afterwards, I spoke to someone else and they said my experience was typical. The work is good but very pricey. Update: I spoke to the general manager and explained the situation. He was very responsive. I asked that the I be allowed to cancel the maintenance plan and be refunded the charges. He readily agreed. They did deduct the 10% discount that had previously been applied due to having the plan, but that was fair. Again, the work was done well and quickly. My only concern was the push for the maintenance plan, which the manager allowed me to cancel. Thank You Mr. Rizkallsh.

They are A-1. If you want the best in the services that they offer and they have that on a screen probably infront of you. They are phenomenal. I read their whole website, Angie's List first to see if you recommend them. You will pay more with them but they guarantee their work and product. They come and put a rug on your front floor. They have got this huge beautiful Mercedes truck and they wash it everyday. They wear clean clothes everyday. They are young and good-looking. They really care about impression. They wear the booties in the house. They care about what their employee look like and the impression that they are going to present to you. They have extensive training on all the new stuff. They take the time to explain everything to you which is wonderful and you do not have to worry because over the years, and I have had many with home ownership, I always try to support the little guy, not the big company and in doing that, I have had some haphazard, irregular, not-so-good work done and I truly appreciate the time and effort that they extend on their employees to educate them. They understand exactly what is going to happen. They tell you how much it is going to cost beforehand and they may be more than another company but you get stellar work. I am loving this company and the two men who came out were extremely professional but so warm and engaging and very knowledgeable. I saw what they did and the quality of their product and all that kind of stuff. I am just sold on Michael and Son. Their service ethics are just wonderful. They do it right the first time.
Description of Work: Michael and Son did work the day before yesterday. They have a whole array of services so I got the whole house maintenance. I had a tank rebuilt on one of my toilets and a pressure-reducing valve put on my water heater. They did the HCA home safety inspection and he installed the whole house surge protector. He checked out all of my electrical outlets and he said it was in fine shape for electricity. I also had my free plumbing safety inspection but it is not really free because I paid for the whole house thing and it was sizable. I also had my generator serviced two weeks ago. I have a two-year contract with them to service my generator.

The reason we did not go with them was that their price was double what we actually paid. They did come out the day after we called them but we were going to have to wait a long time for them to do the service. They were good guys and I would of hired them other than the price and that they could not do the work right away.

Went better that I expected. They were so professional, courteous and helpful.
Description of Work: This was the best service I've ever recieved from an HVAC company. The employee wore booties in my house as to not get anything dirty. They fixed a plumbing issue in our master bath that we had been having problems with as well as did a service check on our HVAC. I will definetly use them again. I referred them to my neighbor for an electrical job and she was also very impressed and pleased with their thoroughness, professionalism and would recommend them to anyone.

call was put in on a Tues. and I was told that I would hear from them between 2 & 6. Tech. called around 5:15 showed up just before 6. It was determined that it was too dark to work on the unit given the uneven terrain and lack of lighting to access it. We rescheduled for Wed. between 10 and 2. Tech showed up around 12:30. By 3 the defective components had been identified and the tech went to get the parts he needed. He returned, replaced the parts and the unit has been running fine since. The tech was nice and knowledgeable. Based on what I know about the cost of the parts I think the overall cost of the service was high
Description of Work: Heat pump not working. Problem was diagnosed as a a blown fuse due to a bad relay. A motor run cap was also replaced.

The plumber did a good job -- not much too it, simply installed a new faucet we bought. He did it efficiently and cleaned up, fairly standard. However, I was pretty surprised at the price: around $300! Apparently the price is set at a fixed price. This seems a bit too steep to me. Overall, they did a great job, but I think a lot of plumbers can do a great job for a lot less for something as simple as this.

Expecting a manager for an estimate and instead got a salesman; a knowledgeable one but need more info on the estimate form. It really wasn't a true estimate form as much as just a price written in for two units. I wanted a breakdown of expected materials/services and warranty, energy rebate/cash back, etc. Nice to give $125 worth of gift cards, but even with use of those the price was still almost $1K more than anyone else we've had here. Called back 7 days later to ask for more questions and to set up service date. I was very honest and told Rob that he priced himself right out of the job.
Description of Work: I was told Bryan Boson would arrive for an estimate; Rob came instead. Knowledgeable of HVAC and many other service area. After discussion and inspection of up/downstairs HVAC systems we sat down to discuss prices. The actual estimate sheet was very vague, the price to replace all soft/flex ductwork in attic with sealing of boots/trunks up and just seal trunk/boots in crawlspace seemed high compared to other vendors who have presented estimates. Spent a fair amount of time trying to sell the maintenance plans than really pricing out exactly what I needed. Nice people, but almost $5K for just duct work in the attic and some duct tape/compound in the crawl!

They were very good and came out early to perform the work. The guy came in, looked around and did what he told us he needed to do. He was very efficient and did a good job. The price was a little higher than what we had expected, but it was worth it. When he gave us the price, we didn’t realize that he was going to put in the tank over the water heater as well and that was all included in the price.
Description of Work: Michael and Son replaced a regulator on our water line since we were having some problem with the water pressure and they also installed an expansion tank on our hot water tank.

All three experiences were great. They are on time, extremely courteous, and provide quality work / service. I will say their prices are a bit higher than other companies I've use, but I am sure you have heard the saying "you get what you pay for", that is definitely the case with Michael and Son. I will use them again without hesitation.

He completely cleaned up after himself. Very professional and respectable, he was the sweetest thing under the sun! They're just really sweet, good people that do their best to help you out and work with you in every way.
Description of Work: I called them after hours on a Sunday night to come replace my toilet. They came and totally replaced the toilet. A month and a half later my toilet was rocking, and they came out to find my flang was broken, which they also fixed.

I am currently under contract to purchase a home. The seller has had multiple service people come in to fix leaking pipes, rocking toilets, etc. She was spending a great deal of money on repairs that were not done/done to code. After weeks of poor service, both the seller and I are under a large amount of stress. The closing is only 4 days away. The seller agreed to try someone of our choosing. When we called Michael and Son, we told them that the service person would need to be small due to the cramped area of the crawl space where some of the repairs were needed. Jason Holleman came out, took a look at the problems, gave estimates of all work, and finished the job in just a few hours. He was very professional and cleaned up after himself. He did only the work that the seller and I agreed needed to be done for the sale of the house. He did not try to talk any of the parties involved into any additional work. Both the seller and I, and my real estate agent, are very pleased with Jason and will use him/recommend him for any plumbing job.
Description of Work: Repaired a 3/4" copper line, replaced a 3/4" PRV, pulled and reset a toilet. His work is covered by a one year parts and labor warranty. He also explained what plumbing issues we may face in the future and gave written estimates for each.
