Technician got it done easily and quickly.

He arrived on time. Clean, friendly and ready to put an estimate together. I originally wanted him to clear a shower drain, fix some sink plungers, a pair of toilet handles and change out the hardware on my sink. I had bought a "Angie's coupon" of $200 worth of work for $90 and thought that would take care of most of the cost of the work(figuring on $100/HR). Unfortunately when his estimate was done the work came to $490 and was not by time, but by task. Being that the drain was higher priority the sink would not get done. He worked quickly and was done in less than hour. It is a month later and everything he did is still working great. If it wasn't for the extremely high cost I would have given this experience an "A" overall. I was able to get my brother-in-law who works for another plumbing contractor to do the sink for $50. Thus saving $150 from the Michael and sons quote. As for material they provided the snake and a small rubber flap for toilet.

It was an excellent service. They actually made arrangements of the time on the day that I called them. A man from the company came at 7:00 at night on the following Monday because I was in a hurry to get it done and he worked until after 9:00 and I have never heard of anybody doing that. Usually at 5:00 or 6:00, they are done. Staying late was what I liked and I cannot think of any dislikes that I had about them.

So far it went good. We were able to save with the BD we purchased, they did a good job they were very prompt.

After becoming disenchanted with a company I had used for awhile, I called Michael & Sons to do my semi annual HVAC maintenance. Although my appointment was from 2- 5 I explained that I wouldn't be home from work till 3:30. Imagine my surprise when I turned on my street at 3:31 to find their truck waiting in front of my house! The service Mike provided continued to be as positive. He was thorough, informative, relaxed, and efficient. When he was finished he explained what he found, what he did and even returned my thermostat to my programmed position. So superior and so pleasant! I will definitely use them from now on.

The guy came to provide me with an estimate in the afternoon about 1:00 pm. I had had another company to my home the day before and he said the only way to accomplish what I wanted to do was to cut a 6 inch path through my kitchen ceiling and his estimate was over $1700. The guy from Michael & Son was far less dramatic and far less destructive! He went straight up from the fuse box in the garage to the second floor and then to the attic and then over to the wall on the far side of the second floor. I told him that I accepted his estimate and he asked if I wanted him to get it done right then... I said "Really?" And so he got started and finished about 5:00 pm that same day. When I needed to use the plug a few days later, I was having trouble pushing the plug into the outlet so I called Michael & Son to get some assistance. It was Christmas Eve! And I really wanted to use the 20 amp plug!! The company gave me the technician's cell phone and when I called him, he talked me through what I needed to do (which was only to push the plug into the socket with a bit more force so as to break through the plastic safety mechanism). I thought it was really great customer service that they would give me his cell so that I could ask him what I could do to use the outlet. I was grateful for his advice and assistance! The work that he did was top-notch, quality work, and SOOOOO much better than having a swath of ceiling in my kitchen that I needed to replace!! There is a difference between those companies/people who are really good at what they do and know what they are doing, versus those who are not very good at what they do. The guys at Michael & Son (at least Todd, who did my installation) are really good! Saved me $600 and no plaster to re-do!! Great deal for me!!

My furnace AND ac broke on Sunday Dec 22 at night!! I called the number for Micheal and Son and got a LIVE human being on a Sunday night 2 days before Christmas! I was delighted! She was able to have someone out to me on Monday (the very next day) I replaced my entire furnace and ac unit...they were both very old and I'm surprised they lasted this long. Michael and Son had a team at my house working on it at 8:30 am the day after Christmas! The team was Moses and Tim and they were excellent!! Highly Competent, Professional, Courteous, Clean, Hardworking and Honest. I couldn't have asked for better! I am so extremely pleased. I will never use anyone but Micheal and Son for HVAC, plumbing AND electric!! With these guys you definitely get more than you expect! Thanks again, Judy

They installed 3 ceiling fans along with a new kitchen light and set us up with a whole home surge protection kit. The job went well it took about 3 hours and our electrician was very professional and friendly.

Things went well. The workman worked about four hours in my crawl space replacing pipes and faucet heads for outside faucets and the water turn off for the house. He replaced some of the metal pipes with PVC pipes. I also bought their service contract which covers the furnace, water heater, electricity and plumbing. Later two workmen came to check my furnace and electric. The electrician advised me to replace my 30 year old curcuit board and replace switches and outlets since they were beginning to loosen up. I was told it would need to be done before I could sell the house. The cost estimate for the complete job was close to $4000. This seemed a bit high, but I have no experience to compare this price. He did say that what I have is safe.

The work was great! It was easy to schedule an appointment and they cleaned up well. It was an overall great experience.

Jason Holleman the plumber replaced a hot water heater a year ago. He told us of an inexpensive plan that would enable Michael and Son to come out several times a year to check plumbing and electrical. They arrived today, and Jason drained the hot water heater and got all the sediment out, and the Electrical Tech noticed that the fan on my Heater/AC unit was running too much. Grateful to them as I would have been without heat had he not checked the unit. I am glad to have met the folks in this company as they are courteous and pleasant and know their work. They put on covers over their shoes to protect my carpet. Cannot say enough nice things about them Li

In all fairness, the technician was prompt, professional and did a good job. I felt he was way over priced. I needed the upstairs thermostat replaced in a rental property. I had just had the Heating and Air Conditioner checked out and fully serviced, as well as, had the downstairs thermostat changed out by a different company. It wasn't until a week later that I realized the upstairs thermostat also needed replacing. I called Michael and Son and relayed this information the to the technician letting him know that all I needed was the upstairs thermostat changed out. The technician gave me a quote that was about the same price I paid for the first Heat and Air Repairman to change out a thermostat plus all the other stuff I already mentioned. I questioned him about a $89 charge on the quote and I was told that was a 'diagnostic" charge. He admitted he didn't really diagnose anything because I told him exactly what I needed, but he said he still needed to charge me. Later when he e-mailed me my receipt, I noticed that the $89 was charged for a 'Promo Precision Tune-Up'. He did not tune up anything. I was left feeling very taken advantage of.

David who came on Friday made the initial inspection, gave recommendations on what to do, gave pricing. He also went over the other services that Michael and Son provide. He was very friendly, courteous, and polite. Todd who came over today, Saturday, did the replacing of the power meter base, installation of and additional ground to bring it to code, and also installed a whole house surge suppressor. He also was very friendly, courteous, and polite. If all of the rest company is like these two young men, I can only say they are a pleasure to deal with. I will use them again when the opportunity arises. Oh, and Alyssa, I believe is her name, that holds down the office and phones was very easy to talk to and very polite.

Called Michael and Son on Sept. 13, 2013 set appointment for Friday the 15th. The plumber came out and was told that he needed to call his suprvisor to come out because the job was too big for him. The supervisor never came or called that day. On Saturday I called to tell him that I needed some one to fix the pipe as I was having a problem with the City of Raleigh. They were going to turn off my water and fine me for raw sewage going into cheek. He did come on Monday to see what could be done. He gave me a price of about $1,900.00, but this was a tempory fix untill the city re-does the line sometime next year.

Installed direct vent gas hot water tank. The highest possible rating in all areas except price. Their costs was nearly double that of other recommended plumbers.

The service was professional and excellent. A mat was put down at the front door, and a drop cloth in the dining room as well as the technician wearing cloth booties. David was my electrician and he was knowledgeable, polite and the best electrician and nicest person I've worked with. The installation was perfect and I am very picky! I had to have it just right and he did that for me with a smile. This company is a little more expensive than others I have used but they are certainly a cut above! Additionally, they offer a lot of other services such as HVAC etc. with the same amount of professionalism. I would definitely use them again!! Thank you.

John was prompt, very professional and very polite. His work was great! The price seemed high but have nothing to compare it to. They would probably not be my first call for a plumber again just because of the price. I had no problem with the quality of the work or the person who performed it.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It didn't turn out so well. Basically when we had added the sunroom, we changed the landscaping for our lot and we had some drainage issues which were addressed when the patio was installed and we thought that it had been resolved. We found out when our air conditioner was being serviced that we had water in our crawlspace which had never happened before. We wanted to but didn't know how to have it resolved. I had Michael and Son come out and they were very responsive. They came out within an hour or two of being called. They were very punctual. He went under the house in the crawlspace and came back and said he needed a sump pump. It was expensive. It was $2,500-$3,000. From my perception, he did not listen to what I was trying to tell him, the background of this and that this was a new occurrence. I thought the landscaping had something to do with it and that I wanted the problem fixed and not just the water dealt with. He really did not want to hear that. I said I needed to talk it over with my husband and we would get back to him. We called a plumber that we had used through Angie's List. They came out and said it was beyond their scope of practice but recommended another company who dealt in that type of issue, who subsequently came out and did about $4,000 worth of work. It wasn't that we didn't want to spend the money but I wanted to fix it and that was my dissatisfaction with Michael and Son. They didn't listen to what the issue was. They just wanted to sell something immediately. They left a bad case and I will not be using them again. I appreciated their punctuality, that was great but I didn't appreciate the lack of insight on what the problem was or acknowledging that it was beyond what they could do. They have mixed reviews on Angie's List and I have since heard from some other people that they've had some issues with them so I just won't use them again. There are lots of other people to choose from.

The short answer is the quality of the work was very good but the price was excessively high. The $680 price tag in my view should have paid for all the work we needed but I had to cut the plumber off at just what I had him do. I still have most of my list of things needed still undone although I have taken on some of it myself. This was a budget buster and I am definitely not happy. John the plumber who did the work was great and could easily moonlight as a stand-up comic. The laughter he caused however did not ease the pain of the bill his employer stuck me with for the little work that was really done. John was very professional and did a very good job for what he did do and I have no issue with him at all. He was punctual, answered all my questions, and did not leave anything messy or cause any damage while doing the work unlike some contractors I have used. John could not get my shower faucet removed, I have a Delta 600 series shower valve(lever) in the wall that has a man made stone for a shower wall over it. He said to get the valve(shower level) replaced it wold be $1000+ on its own and I would have to get a different contractor in to cut the stone wall enough to allow him to do the valve work(more cha ching with another contractor) and a stone wall of a shower potentially ruined. If you have a big wallet and do not care about what leaves it for a service then go ahead and use this company. If you do not have a big wallet and thank God for a job and a paycheck like me then do not use their services, there are many who are less expensive. The "deal" I bought for Michael and Sons was a good bait but the switch really hurt my wallet and my project big time. I will NEVER call them again!!! The choice is yours however whether you do.

Jason (electrician) was very professional, friendly, thorough, and informative. We have had issues with breakers tripping repeatedly over the past few months and none of the previous electricians were able to locate and solve the problem. Jason was able to locate the problems very quickly. He even showed us what was causing one of the breakers to trip and was able to replicate the problem. The other breaker was loose in the panel box and needed tightening...something that the other two electricians who we had called before him should have found!!!! He suggested replacing all of the light switches as they had been back stabbed, and this was causing some arcing issues. He also recommended changing out the outlets that were on 15 amp circuits as they were also back stabbed and this causes similar concerns for arcing/fire hazard. The price was high, but fair considering the amount of work that had to be done. Honestly, after paying two other electricians for house calls in which they did nothing to fix the problem let alone find the problem, I was willing to pay what Jason quoted us. The day he returned to change all of the switches/outlets he was very punctual, polite, and professional. We have a larger home with many switches and outlets and it took him the entire day to complete the job. However, he was pleasant about it and didn't rush through the job. I was impressed by his dedication to get it done, and do it right despite the long day he had. Michael and Son is lucky to have him. It's people like Jason who make or break a company.

We called them out b/c the our water filter had ruptured and sent its medium though out the house blocking the pipes where cold water comes out. They arrived on time to look at the problem. Then priced everything. 2 hose bibs have no water flow, the quote was $100/each to fix. We were also quoted about $1,000 for a new water heater. The water heater does need to be replaced soon, but was not on our list to have them look at and quote. They also gave us a quote for $4,900 for a new whole house water filter system that is 'better' than the one we have that is 1 year old! The Jacuzzi tub faucet was $200. Since we had bought the coupon we thought we might as well get something done. So they ordered the new parts and scheduled to come back the following week. They did not arrive on time and did not call to say they would be late. We called and were told an 'emergency came up and they would call before they came by'. They didn't call, just showed up at 11 took 20 minutes to fix the tub and left. The tub also has a little shower wand. That wasn't working either, but they didn't fix it. I think they should have checked that it worked since they were fixing the 'tub issues'. We were able to fix it and it took us all of 10 minutes to take the head off and clean it out.

I didn't need the plumbing service that I though I did. I purchased a garbage disposal and a new Halo water system. With thatI purchased $380 warranty plan for HVAC, plumbing and electric. They should have come out twice a year, and inspect those systems. First, you have to qualify. They have an inspector come out, and make sure that your systems are pretty much new. They said that I would have to pay about $700 just to qualify. The plan they sell sounds good in theory, but when they come out to do the inspection, you might have to put out a lot more money than you thought. They promised that I would be contacted within 10 days to schedule for the inspection, but no one ever called.

He looked at the sewer for about an hour and said nothing was wrong. I really appreciated his honesty.

They were EXCELLENT! We called and they arrived within 20 mins. The tech was very professional and polite. There was water everywhere, yet he was able to determine where the leak was coming from and fixed it. He also cleaned up afterward. I will use this company again if needed. Great service!!

They were great, came out, did evaluation and got it done. I'm very pleased with them and satisfied. They sent me a thank you card after the work was done. They walked me through each process step by step. The only downside is that their price is high.
