Michael & Son

Bought a new house and within a week had a sewer line back up. What a mess! Called Michael and Son and they had someone on site in about an hour. They immediately diagnosed problem - we had a "belly" in our sewer line. They gave me a quote to repair on the spot. I got another quote that was $400 more than Michael and Son. Called back M & S and they repaired the sewer line the next day for the quoted price. No problems since. Overall, they were quick, professional, and reasonably priced.

James was spot on with the toilet after about 1 minute. He then began servicing a high end sink faucet he had never seen before. He stated it would be his first time with that particular manufacturer and model. I said "Hey, go for it!" He again cautioned me! I looked at him and said do it... No fear, he jumped on the project... He looked at looked at several issues that were causing the malfunctioning sprayer and was at a loss, but having some mechanical aptitude myself, I understood the problems he was observing as he explained while he worked pointing out every issue that stumbled him. Ultimately, we ended up calling the manufacturer because the issues at hand were internal to the unit and not visible. We discovered in the call that parts for the unit was still under warranty. He gave me the thumbs up and stated that would be the smartest move since it was still covered. He very easily could have, however, didn't try to gouge me and sell me the product(s). Very professional in every aspect, the poor guy while on his knees, bent down to turn the water back on under the sink and his knee popped out of its socket. After a few minutes, he was able to regain composure and get it realigned. He was very kind and not one fowl word came out of his mouth!!! Still in pain, I asked if he needed medical assistance. He stated he would seek medical assistance later. We spoke for a few more minutes so I could monitor his demeanor. After about 5 minutes, he jumped back into work mode and completed the job. A+ in my book! I will be calling Michael & Son for my future plumbing needs and requesting James...

He was on time. He understood what needed to be done. He was pretty flexible. If you look at the details of this deal that I got, it involves a whole house inspection and water quality test. We didn't really need that and I didn't really want to pay a whole lot of money for somebody to come in and tell me what part of the Jacuzzi has a problem. So I asked him, "Hey, can you take a look at this Jacuzzi tub? That's all I want you to take a look at." He was pretty flexible, took a look at it and mentioned that there was a problem and this is where the problem is. He showed it to me. That's about it. They said that they don't do Jacuzzi tubs. They call themselves the one stop shop for plumbing and all that but they do not handle Jacuzzi tubs. So that was a little bit of a bummer. As far as that business was concerned that was a prime opportunity for them to get more work from me. But they didn't have that. I'm basically going to be looking at some other provider who specializes in Jacuzzi tubs and getting that sorted out. I did not spend more than the big deal price. I will probably find somebody who is able to do a whole bunch of things. There is no sense in mewasting my time working with multiple providers.

Our home is a rental, so coordinating the schedules of us(the homeowner), and the tenant, can be difficult. The provider did not come as scheduled, then was late when we finally got someone to come. The provider looked at the sink, and told me that he would not charge if had nothing to do with the drain( which it didn't. It was a sptic tank issue). We then got a bill for 293.00 for something he did not need to fix. He also told the tenant that he would replace the drain stop because it was a special order, but never brought a replacement. The provider was supposed to have the work on the tankless water heater inspected, part of what we paid for, but we just called today( June 30th), to find out the status, and they seemed to have no intention of doing this unless we followed up. I think the whole experience was disappointing considering we chose them based on Angie's List, and they are supposed to handle these issues without us having to hand hold. We don't even know if they did an adequate job on the heater since it has not been inspected yet.

They showed up to the house to replace the unit and did a very nice job. They were professional, organized, and clean. I had to work that day so we let them in and they did the work while I was gone and had everything done and tidy when we came home.

Everything went well. They came out and they were very good. They were professional and courteous. The job went well. They were professional. They called ahead, they were on time. They are very good at explaining what they will do. They are not the lowest priced.

Michael and Sons showed up on time, answered my husband's calls in a timely manner, and gave our project their full time and attention. They still have one visit left to help put in my new tub and sinks, but I can say with confidence that they are a great company that does not do the minimum. At first glance, their quote made me a bit uneasy, but they have been worth every dollar and thinking of the hassle we did NOT have to go through, it was a great value. The service provider was polite, professional, brought his own shoe covers and was respectful of the fact that we had to crate our four large dogs while he was there- he worked efficiently and did not come into the dogs' view unless absolutely necessary (so they wouldn't start howling for attention). There is a lot to be said for a service provider who not only makes my husband happy on the technical side, but also makes me happy by not aggravating my animals, not making a mess, arriving on time and getting things done quickly and correctly so I can start using my new bathroom!

Very well--he took care of all of the leaks at a a reasonable price. They were running late (called and told me), and Colin came all the way up from mid Raleigh to Wake Forest to be sure the leaks were fixed.

It went well. The technician was very personable and professional. He even let my 2 year, who is beyond curious, watch him work and talk to him as he worked. He did the job well, and in a timely fashion. He was punctual, and explained the pricing to me prior to getting started. I would request work from this company in the future, and I would also recommend this company to others.

It was done smoothly and easily. I think the price was too high. I had purchased a $200 voucher and then had to pay a bit more. This is for a job that took at most 20 minutes and required no materials (I had purchased them already).

I hired Michael & Son to replace a damaged Moen shower valve. I bought a coupon off Angie's List that provided $200 of service for $119. I had them out for the initial assessment: very professional & prompt, they obviously put a lot of stock in customer service. The technician quoted me a price where they provided the valve and one where I provided the valve; when I bought the valve it saved me roughly $150. Ultimately, I couldn't be more pleased with the overall quality of the job and both of their plumbers (Brian was the one who ultimately completed the work). The job was scheduled & completed quickly without me having to contact them beyond the initial service call, again promptly and professionally. I think you could probably find a company whose pricing is more competitive, but its definitely nice being quoted a price and not having to worry that the price will change based on the amount of time invested into the project. The overall quality of the work is top notch as well, so I'm not worried about leaks or failure due to age. That said, I think the job was not terribly complicated. I could have done it myself, but it would have taken me the better part of 4-6hr with likely multiple trips to the hardware store, where Brian came in and had it done in just over an hour. I'm not saying this to slight the plumber or the company, just simply noting that this was something an experienced plumber could probably do in their sleep. I would definitely recommend & consider them for future use.

It went great! It was "painless" from the beginning to end. The business agent gave me options on a unit and great help with no interest financing. The two techs were on time, explained the basics to me, installed it beautifully, were friendly, professional, took care of my plants and cleaned up beautifully.

Perfect! They were great. They were excellent. They were on time. They were clean. They were paying attention to details. They listened to what my needs were, very responsive. I would definitely use them again.

The service turned out well. They came to install under cabinet lights. The technician was very professional and I enjoyed the entire experience. Scheduling was not an issue.

Although my initial experience with the sales rep at Michael & Son was very good, I have been very disappointed at his unresponsiveness "after the sale". The rep told me about a rebate I was qualified for with Progress Energy from the purchase of my new Heating/Air unit; he volunteered to do the paperwork and send it in and even had me sign the form saying he would complete it and send it right in. He did say the refund would take 6-8 weeks but after almost 3 months and 4 phone call leaving messages for him to call me, instead of calling me back, he dropped a new form in the mail to me requesting my signature "again" and asking me to mail it to the power company. . Although it is not a lot of money, the timing of the rebate seemed perfect for a cruise I had planned. Now I will have to wait another 6-8 weeks. Needless to say, my overall experience rating has dropped from the lack of responsiveness and follow through on my purchase.

The person who came to do the estimate was knowledgeable and professional. The issue was with the pricing for the fixtures and the installation. The fixture pricing was more than double what I could get elsewhere as was the installation. I expect to pay a bit more than if I bought everything myself, but 100% markup was a bit more than I felt was reasonable.

We detected a leak in our gas water heater on Monday evening, 2 June. After turning off the gas and water to the water heater and draining the tank, we called Michael and Son for help and a service call was scheduled for the following day. Two service technicians arrived right on time, identified the problem as a hole in the bottom of the water tank and replaced it with a new water tank from their truck. At our request they also installed a water filtration system for our whole house. Then at no charge they fixed a electronic faucet in our kitchen. The technicians worked steady for 4 hours to complete all the work. Lawrence Toscani, the plumber technician and his young assistant knew their job and were professional in every way. When they left, the work was complete, the job site was clean and the old water heater was taken away. In the future whenever I have a plumbing problem I plan to call Michael and Son Service first, and if he is available I will ask for Lawrence Toscani to service my call.

The service was great! They came out to service my HVAC and unfortunately it had to be replaced. They gave me two options, repair vs replace, and were very honest. They had someone there within two hours to give me the options for replacing and were very professional.

They were very prompt in coming out to our place on a weekend. They gave us a price for the service call on the phone and said it included diagnostics... if repair work was needed they would give us an estimate and then we could decide if we wanted the repair work done. The man showed up... said to diagnose the problem he had to turn on the pilot light to our heater and that would be an additional approx $150. I felt very misled and deceived as the cost to come out was supposed to include diagnosing the problem... and he charge approx $150 just to turn a pilot light on which takes all of 1 second and is something we were more than capable of doing for him.

Scheduled an appointment for repair. I used the Angie list deal for Michael and Son ($119 for $200 of Professional Services). Appointment time was from 8am to 12 noon. Plumber arrived on time after notifying me he was on his way and that he had the correct address. I was given the options for repair and an estimate of the cost before repair was started. The repair was performed quickly and I was informed of the parts needed to do the repair. The Plumber was very professional and knowledgable about job that needed to be done. I was also give intro to the other service that Michael and Son offer. Thanks to Peter Weisenberg for a job well done.

I bought a deal for a complete plumbing inspection and water quality test. While at first the tech didn't realize what he was supposed to do, once I showed him the list from the coupon, he went right to work checking everything. He did find a few things that needed repair and gave me an estimate for how much those would cost. He said I have a leak in my pressure reducing valve coming into the house and will need to replace it. The quote he gave seemed high, so I will be getting a second estimate from a different company before deciding who to have do the work. But if they turn out to be in line, then I have no issues with their work. I will update this review once I've received the second quote.

The Inspection went fine, but I used a coupon for a Plumbing Inspection AND a water quality test. The Test was not performed, so that is a little irritating. It was like the technician had no idea what services I had requested. Seems like poor communication by the main office. Also, I was supposed to be emailed a copy of their summary and receipt, but the email was just an empty email with no attachments. I had to email them back asking for what they should have sent me in the first place. Just overall, I was very unimpressed.

They were very good; excellent. I thought the price was more than fair and the gentleman and his son were very professional. They were outstanding. They were very responsive and they talked about being on Angie's List and asked me to please provide feedback. They provided excellent service and were very good.

I was very pleased with the service Todd Crosson of Michael & Son provided from start to finish. He was very responsive and professional. He arrived on time and if he was going to be late he would call. I do think that the installation of the lights were a little expensive (just an observation not a complaint).

I was in the middle of replacing all of my light fixtures on the first floor when I encountered several issues I could not figure out. I put in a call to Michael and Son Services to have them come out and review my issues. First, let me state this was the sixth call I made and the only electrical maintenance provider that answered my call on a Saturday. They won my loyalty just for that. Sandra, I believe, quickly took my information and dispatched a technician. She was extremely patient and pleasant during our call. Second, Darryl Robinson came out and did a great job listening to my problem, walking me through his root cause logic, and patiently answering my questions. We just bought our house and over the course of several weeks we have had quit a few service providers come out. Hands down Darryl was the most knowledgeable, pleasant, and patient of them all. He did not try to over complicate the matter, talk in electrician jargon, or rush through the visit. All of which I have experienced. Won't let anyone else touch electrical moving forward.
